HA! Thought that I was going to take a long time hm? Well you are mistaken that you are. I wrote all week long during my classes so that I could get this. So without further ado…

The next day at school, Sango, Miroku and Inu-Yasha were all crowded around their favorite tree. Well, Miroku and Sango were around the tree, Inu-Yasha was hidden high in the branches. Kagome looked longingly at them but she kept her distance. Would they treat her the same now that they were in public and knew who she was?

Sango looked up into the tree for a moment before scanning the crowd. Her eyes met Kagome's and paused for a minute. Then she smiled and waved her over. Kagome sighed in relief and started to walk over. Before she had gotten very close though, someone appeared in front of her. Startled, Kagome took a few steps backwards.

Kouga smiled maliciously. "Hello Kagome." He said. Kagome quickly recovered and scowled at him.

"Kouga, go away." She said, keeping a steady tone.

"Be nice Higurashi." He said, giving emphasis on her last name. "I know your secret."

But before Kagome could say anything, someone growled behind Kouga. He spun around to see Inu-Yasha standing there. Kouga got over his surprise and laughed at Inu-Yasha. "Wearing a bandana today? Oh are the poor puppy's ear's sore?"

Inu-Yasha responded by growling louder. Kouga laughed again. Sango and Miroku caught up with them just in time to grab Inu-Yasha and hold him back. "Kouga." Sango said breathlessly. "You better leave. Now!"

Kouga turned back to Kagome and took her hand in his. "I will see you again." He said, pressing something into the palm of her hand. She glared at him, but when he took his hand away, Kagome clasped her fingers around the small object. Kouga smiled toothily and Kagome noticed his K-9's were abnormally large, like those fake teeth you buy at some fake-punk store. As Kouga walked away the thought flew from her mind when someone else got inches from her face.

Inu-Yasha was so close, she could feel his hot breath on her lips. "Are you ok?" He asked. She was becoming more and more uncomfortable by the second. She nodded. "Did he do anything to you?" He continued. She shook her head slowly. The tension between them was almost too much to take.

"Oh Sango!" Miroku called from behind the two. He clasped her hands mockingly and asked, "Are you alright?"

Sango played along and said, "Oh yes Miroku! It was so good that you were here!"

They collapsed onto each other and pretended to make out. Kagome smiled and chocked back laughter while Inu-Yasha glared at the couple. "You're making a scene." He said dangerously between the 'Oh Miroku's' and the 'Oh Sango's.'

They stopped and smiled sheepishly. "You two are hopeless." Inu-Yasha said, rolling his eyes. Sango raised an eyebrow.

"We're hopeless? What about you? Mr. Puppy-love?" She said defiantly. Inu-Yasha's face darkened at his grumpy face.

Just then the bell rang. "We had better get to class." Kagome said. Inu-Yasha had forgot, for a moment, that she was there and jumped when she spoke.

"Don't scare me like that!" He yelled angrily at her.

Kagome fumed. "Well sorry! Maybe I just shouldn't speak at all!"

"Well, maybe you shouldn't!" Inu-Yasha yelled back.

"Uh-oh." Sango said.

"That was a very unwise action Inu-Yasha." Miroku said to him.

Inu-Yasha stood looking rather worridly at Kagome. The area around her seemed to darken and he couldn't see her eyes. Inu-Yasha let out a nervous laugh. "Kagome?" He asked.

Kagome's head snapped up and she yelled as loud as she possibly could, "Maybe you shouldn't talk!" With that she stormed away, Sango running after her.

Miroku was left with Inu-Yasha rubbing the top of his head. "You deserved it you know." He said. Inu-Yasha turned his head and glared at him. "Come on, let's get to class." Miroku said walking towards the front door.

The rest of the day went smoothly, well sort of. Sango had warned Inu-Yasha not to talk to Kagome if he wanted to keep all of his, um, appendages. No body had bothered her all day so Inu-Yasha didn't feel that he needed to apologize just yet.

After school, Kagome had seemed to calm down. Inu-Yasha found her talking cheerily to Sango and Miroku. Sango glared at him and made a small thumbs-up sign so that only he could see.

Inu-Yasha slowly walked up behind Kagome and softly tapped her on the shoulder. She turned around and looked at him in surprise. "Um, hey." He said. Kagome didn't answer. "Um, do you want a ride home?" He asked hopefully.

Kagome seemed the thinking about it and Inu-Yasha's heart was racing. Kagome nodded slowly.

"Sure, just let me get a few things." She said cautiously. Inu-Yasha gave a cut nod and he moved aside so that she could return to the building. He watched as she walked away and through the double doors.

"Something is on Lady Kagome's mind." Miroku said. "And I am sure it is not the fight you two had this morning."

Inu-Yasha turned to look at him "What do you mean?" He asked. "You think someone is bothering Kagome?"

"What he means is that he thinks that something has happened that is causing Kagome distress." Sango said. "I wonder what it is."

Back with Kagome…

Kagome looked at the crumpled up picture for what seemed like the thousandth time that day. Tears, once again, threatened to come out. The picture showed a young man in Motorcross attire, sitting on a dirt motorcycle with a small black haired girl sitting in front of him. They both looked happy, smiling broadly.

Memories flooded her mind…

The young man from the picture skidded to a stop and turned the bike off. A young girl, about five, scuttled to the young biker. He took off his helmet and revealed a dirty, smiling face. He stepped off the bike and placed his helmet on the seat. Then he turned around just in time to squat down and scoop the little girl in his arms.

"Daddy won! Daddy won!" The girl cried.

"Yes Kagome I won, do you know what happens now?" He asked.

Kagome shook her head. "What happens Daddy?" She asked wide-eyed at the chance of goodies.

"You get to…" He said lowering her down. "Fly!" Then he threw his gleeful daughter into the air.

She giggled madly when her father caught her once again in his strong arms.

"Ok! Let's get a picture you two!" A young woman called.

"Come on Kagome! Let Mommy take a picture of us!" He said. He picked her up and placed her on the bike.

"Ok!" Her mom said. "One, two, three!"

Suddenly the scene changed. Kagome was about twelve now and standing in a hospital room. Her father was lying on the hospital bed, machines hooked up to his bruised and beaten body. She could vaguely hear the doctor speaking.

"I'm sorry Mrs. Higurashi. We couldn't save him. The crash damaged his body too much. We managed to keep his body alive with the life support, but he has no hope of ever regaining consciousness."

A small sob escape from her mother's lips. The doctor continued on. "We do have a chance to… donate his organs to people that need them."

Kagome looked at her mother. She had her hand over her mouth and was staring at her husband. "If we wait much longer the organs will be useless." She closed her eyes and Kagome watched her mother nod her head.

"No!" Kagome screamed. She ran to her father and fell on his chest. She grabbed his shoulder and shook him. "Daddy wake up!" She cried. "Please wake up!" Someone put their arms around her. Kagome turned to see a young man, about her age, with his arms halfway around her.

"It's okay Kagome." He said. Kagome let him pull her against his chest as she cried. "Everything is going to be okay."

Someone calling her name snapped Kagome back into the present. She looked passed her locker door and saw Inu-Yasha standing in the front doorway, the light from outside making him seem rather angelic.

"Uh, I'll be there in a minute!" she called out, her voice crackling a little. She turned back to the inside of her locker. She quickly brushed away any tears that had rolled down her cheeks, grabbing her books, shoved them into her bag and slamming shut her locker, jogging off to where Inu-Yasha was waiting.

The ride home was quiet. Inu-Yasha figured that Kagome didn't want to talk to him. 'I wonder if she's still mad at me.' He thought. Wasn't long before Inu-Yasha was pulling in front of her apartment building. He put the truck in park and turned to Kagome.

She must have just realized that the truck had stopped because she looked up and stared around. Slowly she undid her seatbelt and looked over at Inu-Yasha. "Thanks." She said. She was about to open the door when he put his hand on hers.

Kagome looked back over at him. "Kagome, I'm sorry." She looked at him blankly. "For yelling this morning. I didn't mean it." She smiled.

"It's alright. I'm sorry I scared you." She said back. He smiled at her. She got out of the truck but before she closed the door, she turned and said, "Thanks for taking me home… RED!" She smiled maliciously as his eyes widened. "Well, how else would you know where I live?"

"Sango and Miroku could have told me." He said.

"Hm, could have," She said. "Which means they didn't. Choose your words more carefully." She smiled and shut the door. He watched her grab her bag out of the bed and walk to her front door. She put her key in and waved to him just before she disappeared into the tinted glass lobby.
