Chapter 9: Vampire's Can't Fall in Love
"I know."
"How could you know? Do you remember?" he began to feel the same excitement course through his veins.
"No." his hopes dashed again. "I just know."
"Feh. Stupid wench." he muttered. He didn't know why he said it, it just seemed natural.
"What?"
"I said 'Feh. Stupid wench.' are ya deaf?" he continued with the attitude, though he couldn't bring himself to imagine why.
"Oh shut up you stupid baka!" she stood up and walked away angrily.
"Kagome, Kag, I am sorry." he moved to grab her by the waist but she turned before he reach her. Somewhere, in the midst of this spat, Inuyasha had let his hair down, and his ears up as it were. His long silver hair graced down his shoulders, to his back, triangular dog ears sat atop his head.
"Your hair."
"Hai, human form, hair cut. Normal form, hair long, just how I like it." he shrugged this off as irrelevant.
"Stupid baka." he shrugged this off too, but not nearly as easily. "wench" Kagome seemed to be muttering meaningless words now.
"Are you feeling okay?" Inuyasha grew more concerned by the second. She took deep, slow breaths, and collapsed to the ground.
"Mrs. H. Hey." Inuyasha set Kagome on the couch.
"Do you always have to make my girl faint like that?" she asked as Inuyasha set her down.
"I don't even know what I did this time." he commented.
"I found this." Mrs. Higarashi led him into the kitchen. A stack of computer paper sat on the kitchen table.
"What is it?" he looked at the cover and read out loud "The Space Time Continuum by Kagome Higarashi."
"It is quite a remarkable story, about an eighteen year old girl who thinks her life is horrible. She falls into a time warp and gets stuck in the middle ages. There she meets a vampire, he shows her the only thing she had ever needed. Love. The vampire turns her into one, and she is willing to live for eternity happy with him, but all things, good and bad, come to an end. The girl is out prowling for dinner when she notices a forest that seems to be sparkling. She steps into the forest and out into the busy streets of Japan. She is back home. Luckily it is night. She then realizes that she cannot be with her beloved, somehow she has changed times back to her original time. She lives by the fall of the sun, prowling for blood, waiting for the day when she might find her beloved." Mrs. Higarashi finished her summary and watched Inuyasha's reaction.
"That sounds vaguely familiar, except that Kagome lost her memories, and I'm not a vampire. Does she ever meet up with her beloved again?" he asked, looking down at the many pages in his hands.
"Yes. Eventually Inuyasha finds her, yes she used your name. The man reaches to her, and when they almost touch, the sun rises. Inuyasha, being somewhat more resistant to the light then the girl, didn't flinch much at the harsh light pouring down on him. The girl however couldn't take the heat, and moments from being within her beloved's arms, she dies."
"That doesn't sound happy at all does it?" Inuyasha skimmed the pages of the story. "Could I borrow this? I would like to read it for myself."
"I don't see why not, Kagome doesn't seem to know it is missing. But please try to have it back in a couple of days."
"I will. Thank you." he hugged Mrs. Higarashi and walked outside.

"Mom?" Kagome sat up on the couch. She looked around and blinked harshly trying to think of something, though she wasn't sure what.
"Yes dear?"
"Where is Inuyasha?"
"He went home dear. Had a bit of work to do."
"Oh. I was hoping to give him something. It will have to wait." Kagome, keeping her air of mystery, walked up to her room.

~*~*~ "Vampires aren't meant to fall in love." his voice gained a hostility unlike she had ever heard. "We are outcasts, unaccepted, my own brother thinks I am worthless. We are suppose to be killed at birth, never to disgrace the earth with our presence, never to be allowed in the sight of decent people." slowly Emogak reached her hand up to the young mans face.
"I love you." all the words that could be spoken were. ~*~*~
Inuyasha put the story down to rest his eye's. He had been locked away in his room, reading it all afternoon, it was now close to nine o'clock at night. Only one chapter remained. Inuyasha reread 'Inuyasha's' declaration of his love to Emogak.
"Those were my exact words. . . does she remember? Or was it by chance she thought of those words? How could it be a chance, those are my exact words." Inuyasha pondered this for a moment, taking a drink from the bottled water that sat conveniently on his night stand.
"She must have a memory buried deep inside her head. If I can get her to remember even one thing, maybe it will all come back to her. But how can I get her to remember?"
Inuyasha's chest painfully throbbed he looked down and saw that his chest was shinning. He lifted the Shikon no Tama from it's resting place and looked at it, glowing brilliantly in his hand. "Is there something you want to tell me?" It seemed to glow brighter in response. "What is that? What did ya say? Timmy's trapped down a well?" Inuyasha dropped the chain and the jewel hit his chest softly. He laughed at the thought of talking to a jewel.
He pushed aside his earlier nonsense and continued to read the beautiful story, written by his love.

~*~*~ "Inuyasha!"
"Emogak!" the tall raven haired vampire ran to the girl with ebony locks. "Emogak the sun. Duck into the alley my love."
"Inuyasha." she reached her hand out to him, she felt the heat radiate from his fingertips. Slowly, ever-so slowly, she felt herself go numb, she recoiled, drawing her hand away from him.
"Emogak?" she looked up to her love, from where she now lay on the pavement. The sun beating down on her. "Emogak!" he ran to her, the feet that had separated them disappeared as he advanced.
"Inuyasha. . . My. . . lo. . . ve"
"Emogak!!!!!" he collapsed to the ground beside her. He tried to hold her, but she vanished from his eye's. A pile of ash remained, his heart cried to touch them, to feel what was left of her. The gods seemed to mock him, for as he reached out his hand the wind picked up and scattered her ashes to the wind. "My love. . . May I live for all eternity, and never love again." he kissed his hand and touched it to the ground where only a few ashes remained.
Inuyasha lived true to his word, he never loved another. Eternity was longer then he thought, without Emogak by his side. His fortune changed abruptly five hundred years later, the most famous Vampire hunter of all time, Naraku, found Inuyasha.
Naraku killed him, in one final battle between the foes. Inuyasha smiled at Naraku and thanked him. He closed his eye's and waited for the long awaited slumber he had so often wished for. He opened his eye's to see Emogak, roaming around in the sunlight, picking berries. He ran up behind her, placing his arms comfortingly around her.
"My love. I will never let you leave me again." and he never did. ~*~*~

Aww, end of chapter. . . *tear*. . . Did anyone notice. . . Emogak. . . Kagome spelled backwards. . . haha, I laughed at that. I really couldn't think of any name that sounded like Kagome so I decided to get creative oh yeah ^_^ Hope you likey. . . chapter ten awaits. . . hmm what is the deal with Naraku? *vindictive smile*
Oh yes, and a special note to my favorite - and (only at this time but that is beside the point) - reviewer . . . orb! I continue writing all the time and I still suck and have no internet so I just update all I can when I can. If you want I can just update one chapter at a time whenever I can (which is like once a month) *evil smile* hehe . . . But alas at least there is lots to read once in a while hehe! ^_^
Prom was last Saturday (May 1st) yay! I had lots of fun . . . Danny and I went and hung out with Jenny and Cinny and Sammi and Lynnie and Tajie and Britany, and Nessy (a lot of these names really don't do well with 'y/ie's' on the end haha! But it was loads of fun! Everyone go to Prom!
Anyway . . . Okay love you all and happy day to you!
