Akira had been walking all morning alone through the forest. She was unable to keep her mind on anything except for the words InuYasha had said to her. Her heart was torn between what she had seen and heard and what her mind was telling her. `It's a lie. All of it is just a lie. He has his Kikyo…he has Kagome.'
Akira had decided in her mind that she would leave this land. She would go as far away as she could and start her life a new. There was no reason for her to stay here and get involved with such things. After all she had been through enough and now she would not allow herself to be dragged into another series of events that would destroy her heart.
As she walked concentrated completely on InuYasha and her plan to run away she failed to notice she was being followed. She felt a searing pain across her back and felt strong winds blowing against her body. She turned around to see Kagura standing with her fan open ready to send another attack at the girl. Naraku appeared on Kagura's left side.
“It seems you did not kill her.” Naraku had an evil grin upon his face. “You should not be wondering around with injuries like that.”
Before Akira could respond blades of wind cut rapidly through the air at her again. She reached for her sword but she wasn't quick enough. A blade of wind sliced her arm and her side. Her sword, having had her belt cut also, fell to the ground. Akira began to kneel down to pick it up but had to jump back to dodge more blades of wind.
“There is no one here to save you this time princess.” Naraku laughed easily. “Finish her Kagura and then return to me.” Naraku faded as quickly as he appeared.
Kagura called upon her dance of the dragon and sent whirl pools of wind after the girl. She tried to dodge them and reach her sword but the dust and debris from the swirling wind made it difficult to see her sword laying several feet away from her. Annoyed by the girls agility Kagura began to send the blades of wind with more force and after dodging the first couple of attacks as best she could, Akira soon began to wear down. She was still weak form her injuries.
Kagura's blades of wind began to land blows on the girl. She was beginning to move sluggishly and had no way to ward off the blades of wind coming at her. She stood staring Kagura down as she felt the warm oozing on her back from a reopened wound. Her arm and side were loosing blood quickly as well. Kagura attacked again and as she jumped to try and avoid the blades Kagura sent another attack after her.
Finally Kagura succeeded in her attack and the blades of wind cut huge gashes across the girl's body. Blood poured from wounds across her stomach, chest, and legs. Akira decided to leave her sword and flee. If she did not find somewhere to hide she would surely die. She made her way as quickly as she could into the cover of the trees but soon passed out and fell to the ground.
Kagura followed the girl and found her unconscious. She could hear the Akira's ragged breathing and fading heart beat. “She only has a few more moments of life left in her. Perhaps I should let her find her way to the other side.” She said aloud to no one. She plucked a feather from her head and took to the sky.
For a moment everything was black and Akira could not see or hear anything. And then a voice, a sweet voice, a voice she had wanted to hear began to ring out to her. It was InuYasha's voice. Slowly she began to see again, but she saw herself laying there unconscious and InuYasha kneeled down over her. He was calling to her to wake up. But something was beckoning to her to continue on her journey and not to return. `Okay InuYasha…I'll wake up in a minute.' She thought to her self as she turned away and began walking towards a bright light and another more demanding voice calling to her.
InuYasha had finally decided to find Akira and tell her that he was not about to let her go. That he loved her and wanted her by his side and any confusion she needed to work through they would do together. But in all his efforts to find her it was too late when he happened upon her lifeless body lying in the trees. Her body was covered in blood and deep gashes. Her clothes were torn and tattered barely clinging to her body. He lifted her up and made his way back to Kiade as fast as he could with the hopes that she might be able to help.
But upon his arrival his hope were crushed. Kiade attended the body but soon found there was no life left in the girl. She had lost too much blood…she was gone. Sango and Miroku kept their composure well, but InuYasha stormed out of the hut his heart consumed with anger.
“What do you think he'll do?” Sango asked.
“If it were me…I would go after Naraku.” Miroku said.
After a long moment of silence Kiade spoke up, “We should bury the body.”
Sango and Miroku agreed.
