Chapter 4

The weeks that followed were almost pure hell. After Sesshoumaru and InuYasha were brought back to the mansion their punishment were waiting for them and this time neither of them escaped. While InuYasha just suffered the pain of a whipping his elder brother had to suffer a treatment that were three times worse than what he had last night.

When the night finally fell and they were reunited in their room InuYasha once more cried bitter tears as he took care of Sesshoumaru the best of his resources allowed him too. Sesshoumaru wasn't even conscious.

Then the next day they were chained and brought to a separate room by the master of the house. There they were forced to learn various things such as the foreign speech and manners of submission.

They both hated it but the one who did most was Sesshoumaru. He refused when he could and were angry when they tried to threaten InuYasha in any way. Of course, the whip was always presence and frequently used. Most of it were taken by Sesshoumaru but once in a while InuYasha also took the burn of the leather when he tried to help his brother or refused something.

Rumours spread like wild fire through the town about the albino brothers and most were most eager to see them. Mostly nobles and rich people tried their best to go to the mansion in order to catch a glimpse of them but most failed.

The daughter of the mansion were at the centre of attention and she always bragged about the beauty of the brothers and how talented they were learning.

The master surveyed most of their studies but ever now and then he had to be away for some reason. Those times were most appreciated by the brothers, since they didn't have to suffer under the "Evil Eye" as they called him.

Their understanding of the new languish were somewhat unsteady but they had already picked up the basics after just two weeks. But that didn't stop them from speaking in their own words or fighting these strange ways forced on them.

Their cloths had been changed to that of the humans and while their chains were never removed it didn't stop them when the humans became more persistent in what and how they should do things.

Even though Sesshoumaru did his best to protect InuYasha from the humans, there were times he failed but still he took the most of the anger the humans had toward them.

But what he didn't like one bit was how the human girl were always eyeing InuYasha. If he as much as caught her doing it he wouldn't hesitate to sneer at her or glare, even if he were punished for it.

They could never had imagine what plans she was making behind everyone's back.

“Pretty.” the girl called after InuYasha. Her pet name for him and he turned around at the familiar sound. His hands cradling three thick books for his studies in ten minutes. “There is something I want you to help me with tonight. Don't bring your brother.”

InuYasha looked at her while trying to process her words and their meanings.

“Not allowed to be alone.” he said finally. “Master be angry.”

She gave him a sweet smile. “Don't worry. I will talk to daddy so you won't get in any trouble but you must promise me that you won't tell your brother.”

He shook his head. “I can't do that. If Sesshoumaru do not know I will not come.”

Giving a sigh of frustration. “If you must then you can tell him. I will come for you. See you later, pretty.”

InuYasha bowed and his ear flat against his head. He could sense she was up to something but he couldn't go against her words, at least that's what their lessons taught them. If they hurt her again in any way their lives would be payment for it.

InuYasha continued down the hall and soon was met by Sesshoumaru. The older brother stood leaning against the wall outside their “study” room. His body dressed in black pants with a white shirt covering his shoulders. His hair fell in waves down his back and his eyes softened when they saw InuYasha approaching.

He reached out and took two of the books and while he perfectly balanced them on one arm he linked his other with InuYasha's. He gave the other a small smile before leading them into the room. There their teacher were already waiting for them with a stern look on her face. Sesshoumaru gave her a hard look as if daring her to hurt them.

InuYasha shrank back a little from the glare she gave him but didn't show any other signs. Having his brother by his side were all the comfort he needed when faced with this scary woman.

When their lesson were on the way, the thick books open before them and she were having a long speech about manners when greeting a human and how to talk in front of them.

InuYasha nudged his brother's side to get his attention. Sesshoumaru turned his head slightly to show he listening.

“Tonight I have to go with the Evil Eye's daughter. She needed help with something.” he whispered in their own tongue. A low hush sound that the stern woman didn't notice under her own voice.

“Why?” asked Sesshoumaru, already disliking the idea.

“I don't know. She didn't tell me.”

“Does the Evil Eye know about it?”

“She said she would talk to him but somehow I doubt her.”

“Just be careful and don't get hurt.” whispered Sesshoumaru, placing his hand over InuYasha's that rested on the table and gave the woman a glare when she saw their action with a deep frown of distaste.

Much later when all their lessons were over and what work they were performing for the family were done the brothers returned to their room and not long after did a knock on the door sound through their empty room and when it was opened the girl stuck her head inside.

She motioned for InuYasha to come and while he was reluctant to leave his brother he followed her. He cast one last look over his shoulder before closing the door soundlessly.

She took him through the house and while maids were walking past them in their work they just bowed to the young lady and barely gave InuYasha so much as a fleeting glance before hurrying away.

“Here it is.” she said happily before opening the door and showed InuYasha in and closed the door behind them before he could run away.

Inside were tens of other girls in fine dresses and expensive fabric. They all varied in age but when he were pushed inside all their attention were focused on him, making him uneasy.

There were a long silence before they all squealed in delight.

The young lady pushed InuYasha gently in the back to get him closer but that only made him want to run away even more. Before he could think of an escape plan he was surrounded by girls that were talking in each others mouth. He could barely make out what they were saying and even when someone asked him something he stared blankly back.

At the sound of “pretty” he turned his head to the young lady of the house and saw her sitting in a comfortable chair, sipping from a cup.

“How old are you?” he barely made out.

“14.” he replied and made the girls cry out in further delight at the sound of his voice. His ears flatt against his head.

“Where are you from?”

“What's your favourite food?”

“Is this hair real?”

“You really are all white, how pretty.”

“Um..” whispered InuYasha in growing distress.

Then he felt a hand on his arm and recoiled from it, he hurried over to his “master” before the other girls could even react.

The girl gave a friendly smile. “Excuse him. He's very shy without his older brother.” InuYasha could see how fake it was.

“Oh, so he does have a brother?”

“What's he like?”

The girl gave a fast thought. “He's very handsome but have a bad temper. Just the first day they arrived he clawed my hand.”

“No.”

“That's awful.”

“What happened.”

She gave InuYasha a look that told him to be quiet. “He was punished of course and now he's a real work of art. He learned his lesson but finds it hard to adjust to us, maybe he still thinks himself superior to humans.”

“How can such a horrible demon be related to this sweet boy?”

“Yes, he should be punished even more for his insolence.”

InuYasha had to bit his cheek to keep from saying anything. How could they talk like that? Didn't they know what they were saying? Being whipped into a bloody heap wasn't enough? Being treated like a slave wasn't enough? Being forced to be someone they weren't wasn't enough?

They had been brutally captured and taken away from their normal life and brought into a world they hadn't even dreamed of. They were alone in this world and the horror and terror they faced would be one trial after another. His brother were punished on a daily basis when he dared defy a human. Still these harpies thought that...

He wasn't ready when a pair of fingers touched his lowered ears. He flinched and tensed them up to their true height.

“Kyaaa~ They are real. How cute.”

That caused an uproar and an all out assault by all females in the room that wanted to touch his ears.

InuYasha couldn't quell the panic that rose inside him and erupted like a volcano. He backed away until he hit the wall and with wide eyes saw how the finely manicured humans hands turned into black shadows that reached after him. They touched him all over and ignored his please. Laughter where heard in the background. His vision began to go black but he didn't lose consciousness.

He could see the village burn, he could smell the blood, he could taste the earth in his mouth, he could see his wounded brother laying in front of him. He could see the human hands reaching out for the members of the youkai that helped raise them. Hurting them, scorning them, bringing them death. He let out a high pitched scream.

-o-o-o-o-

Sesshoumaru jerked back when his instincts suddenly flared up.

'InuYasha.'

He took two steps back and ran without caring that the door was closed he cleaved it into tiny pieces with his venom whip, a skill he could only do for a few seconds. He barely even took one step outside before he disappeared from sight and toward the frightened youki of his kin.

He passed maids before they could even see him coming and then yelped when some unknown shadow flashed past them.

In his desperate mind to reach the other he could only see a dark tunnel and at the end of it was a light, InuYasha's.

The closer he came the stronger it got and when he finally touched it he barged into a room. He barely took one second to see what was going on and jumped over all the frightened girls huddling on the floor and firmly wrapped his arms around his little brother.

InuYasha whimpered helplessly and in fear while his claws tried to claw at anything coming close to him, this case Sesshoumaru.

“InuYasha. It's me. I'm here now.” he yelled in their tongue but nothing got through.

The girls had scrambled away from the pair and watched in fear, some held their arms while blood ran down their limbs.

InuYasha's claws bit into his back and he had to bit down on the corner of his lip to keep the pain inside. A string of blood ran down his chin. Sesshoumaru couldn't get through, the fear in InuYasha reeked of him.

“InuYasha.” he yelled and just as sudden the thought came to mind he bite InuYasha's neck, hard.

InuYasha gasped and whimpered under the piercing pain.

Sesshoumaru didn't know if this would work. He had never done this to another, only seen other youkai parents do it to their children or mate. It was a strong way of dominating another being, making them obey or submit to another. It was also used to keep children in place when they became to rowdy or careless.

He could taste the copper taste in his mouth and through it could feel his little brother calm down. The pulsing sensation filled his mind and another voice whispered in his mind.

'I'm scared. I'm scared. Brother!'

Recognizing the voice Sesshoumaru felt a calm wash over him. He could hear InuYasha's voice.

'InuYasha.' he whispered in his mind and felt the other react to him. He let his calm seep through their link and under his hands felt the other relax, the claws in his back retreated. 'I'm here. Come back.'

'Brother.' said InuYasha in a relieved voice as he relaxed fully against the other.

Sesshoumaru pulled back his fangs and felt the immediate lose of their link. Something so powerful had he never experienced. It left him dazed and his mind felt clouded.

InuYasha let out a tiny whine as he slowly opened his eyes. He blinked and looked up in wonder.

The only thing that broke the moment was the sharp snap that drew their attention.

In the room stood their master, clutching the whip in anger. Other human moved in the background, taking away the girls and tending to the injured. The man gave his own daughter a hard look before looking on the brothers. His face which were half cast in shadows only added to the rage that no doubt boiled inside him.

“Not once but twice. I gave you a chance to change your ways after your actions but I se--” he said and the rest were hard to hear when one of the girls screamed in pain in the background. The man's lips moved without hesitation “...not worth it. You need a taste of the real world awaiting you. You are leaving. TONIGHT!”

InuYasha tried to hide in his brothers arms but couldn't take his eyes away from the man, fearing that if he did something bad would happen.

Sesshoumaru glared back at the man even when they were taken away by other slave youkais, defying him until the end.
