Chapter 2

InuYasha cracked open one eye and saw the morning light coming into the room through the bared window. He shifted so that he could take a look on his brother. The wounds on his back had healed during the night and only faint red lines were the only reminder of what had befallen him, which would disappear soon enough too.

InuYasha put down his legs and felt the bone in them crack as he stretched them. He had fallen asleep sitting on the floor and he felt stiff but he didn't regret it.

With one look he could tell his brother would soon wake up because he never slept longer than the sun. He still felt sad because of the suffering he caused yesterday and feared what would become of them from now on.

The door clicked and moaned when it was pushed open. There stood their Owner with a whip in his hands. He took one look at the two brothers and narrowed his eyes when he saw the healed back. InuYasha tensed as he waited for the human to make his move.

He snapped the whip once, making it crack against the floor and Sesshoumaru was wide awake and sitting up, facing him with a snarl on his lips. His claws sank into the bedding and almost pierced it.

The man looked not impressed. He made a motion for both of them to follow him before he was gone and the door stood open.

Sesshoumaru and InuYasha knew that right now they had no chance to retaliate even if they wanted to. This was the world humans ruled and their strange words were law. Sesshoumaru grasped Inu's hand and with a strained smile they walked out from the room.

Right outside their master stood and waited for them. He pointed down to an open door that lead outside and said something strange they didn't understand.

Both of them started to walk down with their master behind them, noticing when they came closer outside how a fat old man stood waiting with a sickly thin female beside him. He wore a black and white costume and twisted his moustache. The woman had an awful dress covered with frills and decorations. Her hair was twisted up into a tight knot and each of her fingers wore a jewel as well as the necklace around her throat. She had a haughty air around her.

InuYasha and Sesshoumaru was moved so they were facing the couple. InuYasha's fingers clenched onto his brothers and stood close to the other. The fat human started to say something but to him it only sounded like he was grumbling in some unknown languish.

The woman seemed to agree on something as she nodded but they didn't understand her either. They couldn't understand anyone around them.

InuYasha looked around a little to take in his surrounding and he felt a small shiver run down his neck and he looked up. In a window above them he could see the girl from yesterday standing there and watching them as she comforted her hand.

When she noticed him watching her she gave him a smile and pushed her hair over her shoulder as if to show of.

A snap against the ground brought InuYasha out of his curiosity and the situation ahead. The man who owned them said something to them but as they couldn't understand him they only stared at him.

Sesshoumaru could see his patents running short and the danger of being a victim of that whip again came closer.

The man took a deep breath before snapping the whip once again and leaving a clear mark in the earth. The woman said something and walked closer to take a closer look.

She first asked something that sounded like a shrieking sound and then continued to inspect their faces as well as what she could see of their bodies.

She then asked them the same thing as earlier. She let out a frustrated sigh and then turned to her companion saying something. He shook his head and then faced the man with the whip.

Their conversation continued for a while before the man snapped his fingers and a few slave demons and grabbed the brothers.

Sesshoumaru snapped and let his youki flare to ward of the other youkais who flinched back in fear of the stronger youkai before them. The humans snapped to attention to what was happening and even though they couldn't feel the level of threat Sesshoumaru was they still felt something uneasy.

The albino hissed between clenched teeth, “Don't you dare touch us.” he growled in their ancient speech. “To let yourself be dominated by humans, you ought to be ashamed.”

“We don't have a choice.”

“That doesn't justify your blind submission to these filthy humans.”

“They have ways of submitting us, bind us to them that makes us unable to resist their words. You don't know the horrors yet. In this world you can't survive without submitting to humans.”

“I will never submit to a human.” Sesshoumaru growled deeply in anger and the other youkai backed away when the owners voice said something that made the closest demon to InuYasha grab a hold of him.

InuYasha let out a yelp and resisted. The cat demon didn't even have a chance when his arm was severed from the shoulder and a good part of his chest as well. His blood coloured the ground red and he staggered a few steps before he fell forward, dead.

The woman screamed a terrified sound and the humans took a step backwards. Sesshoumaru swung around and injured another demon and cracked his claws in what could only be seen as a promise of death for the rest.

“We're out of here, InuYasha.” he said over his shoulder as he once again took a hold of his younger brothers hand that he had lost when they had tried to separate them.

They ran a short distance so they could take up speed before they leaped up to the fence that surrounded the property and jumped of. They took of at a high speed down the road, creating chaos as they escaped. Almost immediately they were followed, by both humans and other demons. These demons weren't weaklings like the slaves before. They might prove to be a hindrance.

Even if Sesshoumaru showed strength and resistance it wasn't what he was really feeling. He hadn't eaten anything in nearly two days and the punishment from last night had drained him more than he thought. InuYasha too was weak and he felt that when he could leave his brother in the dust back home he could barely keep one steep ahead right now.

They dodged humans and wagons with various things, they barely avoided getting hit by a hours if it weren't for the creature being scared by Sesshoumaru's youki.

They jumped up on a roof and jumped over to the next. Up there they were an easy target but also it was easier to spot the enemy and avoid them.

Or so he thought.

Four shadows appeared around them and he barely could raise his free hand to attack with a whip of his youki when suddenly he was hit by a pressure on his neck. He stumbled and felt how InuYasha slipped from his grip. He thought he heard his little brother scream his name as he fell clear from the edge of the house and toward the ground.

InuYasha was captured in a swift movement and even though he struggled he couldn't break free. A metal ring was placed around his neck and with it it took away what hope for freedom he might had have. But that didn't matter, he could only watch in horror as his brother fell to the ground, barely conscious. He managed to free on arm and even though it was futile he reach out for his elder brother and called his name in desperate hope.

“It was foolish to attempt to flee. Now you don't know what will happen to you.” his hunter told him.

Another approached while the other two jumped down where Sesshoumaru had fallen. “He's still young and just been brought into the human society. Your quite strange. I've never seen anyone pure white before.”

“Let us go.” InuYasha pleaded with tears welling up in his eyes.

“Can't do that.” the one holding him said.

The other, a female captured his chin with her index finger and tilted his face up to her. She was marred in the face but despite that she was beautiful with violet hair and deep blue eyes.

“Don't cry little one.” she hushed him from saying anything else. She always had a weak point for the young new ones. She gave the other a nod and they jumped down.

Down at the street a crowd had began to gather to see what had happened. Some humans in similar cloths as the demons that caught them prevented them from getting closer.

InuYasha saw his brother laying face down with the other two chaining him. His fingers twitched slightly and showed that he was still awake but he didn't have any strength to rebel.

InuYasha moved automatically forward but was held back. His eyes were cast in shadows when he lowered his head. “I won't run so please let me go to him.”

The female connected a metal chain to the ring around his throat and the other let him go. InuYasha walked slowly over to Sesshoumaru and the two demons securing him took a step back but still close enough if they should try anything.

InuYasha sat down on his knees and reached out for a bound hand. There were barely any pressure in it but he felt the light caress to show him the other knew he was there. Unfortunate they weren't facing each other.

The crowd were amazed by these two beautiful albino demons and they stretched their necks to get a better look at them.

“Brother,” he whispered. “Stop. Please stop. We can't escape in our current state and you know it.” he had to bit down on his lip but he couldn't stop the tears from leaving him amber eyes. “I don't want to see you hurt like this.”

Sesshoumaru could only close his eyes in hopelessness. His hand went limp as he surrendered to the darkness that wanted to consume him. He welcomed it so he could escape the pain in his body but also the pain his heart felt from the knowledge he had made InuYasha cry again because of him.
