The Untouchables

Part 4

"It'll be ok Kagome." Mrs. Higurashi said, trying to calm down her weeping daughter.

"How can you say that, mother?! After what I tolled you he did, how can I ever forgive him! I don't think I can take any more." Mother and daughter were sitting together on the bench beside the great tree. Kagome's entire body was shaking. Her voice was hoarse from all the crying. Her body seemed weak whenever she fidgeted. All her strength seemed to drain out of her with the tears she shed.

Sighing Mrs. Higurashi left the bench and walked over to the great tree. The grass still wet to her bare feet. She crouched down in front of the tree and look at a flower. "Look Kagome. Look at this flower. Every night it gets cold out. The flower has to withstand the cold. Not only that, but the cold brings moister that pools on the flowers leaves and petals." Confused at where her mother's words were going, Kagome rose from her seat. Walked over, and joined her mother. "Each night, the water seems to get greater. The cold air gets colder. Each night the flower has to endure all of this. Knowing that when the sun comes up, it will chase away the cold and dry up all the water. And one day, after all the pain is over, there will be more flowers around."

Mrs. Higurashi turned toward her daughter with a smile on her face. "You see, the flower knows that it was all worth it. That no matter what the cold may bring; the sun will always be there to chase away all the worries, and all the pain."

"But I don't understand...."

"Sometimes, Kagome, you need to just wait. You need to wait and know that it will get better. In the end, whatever problems you had to deal with will be worth it." The smile widened on the woman's face as she looked at her daughter. "Besides, didn't you say he tolled Sango he thought it was you? Doesn't that mean the person he really cares for is you? Not Sango, not Kikyo, but you?"

"Yes, but-"

"Why don't you go upstairs and get some sleep. You'll feel better then."

"Yes." A confused and exhausted Kagome turned to go to the house. When she stopped and looked at her mother. "Thanks mom. You're always there for me when I need you."

"That is what I am here for. Oh look Kagome! The sun is coming up!" Both mother and daughter watched as the sun peeked out at them. The first rays of the day shining upon them.
