Thanks Becket for all your help! I soooo wish you were an anime fan, it would be SO much easier on poor (lazy) me.
Now on to the story:
The Untouchables
It's night time out. The moon is high in the sky, and the stars seem to be twinkling in their brightness. To the half demon, it was as if they were laughing at him for his foolishness. He was lying beside the well, looking up at them. Waiting for the person he cared the most for to come back.
"It's been two days. Are you really that angry at me Kagome?"
"Of course she is angry with you." Sango said, walking toward the well where Inu Yasha was. "She is angry at us both. I know I would be if I were her."
"Fuh whatever." Inu Yasha said trying to keep the emotion out of his voice.
"Don't try to hide it. I know your worried." Sango sat down beside Inu Yasha. "Why don't you go after her? Try and tell her what really happened."
"Why am I the one that is suppose to always chase after her?" Inu Yasha sat up, his words started to flow out of him. "It doesn't make any sense! I didn't do anything wrong! It was just a mistake! Why should I have to chase her around! Why am I the one always apologizing."
"But your not." Sango interrupted causing Inu Yasha to give her a puzzled look. "When she found you with Kikyo, she was the one to forgive you, wasn't she? Didn't she come back, no questions asked?" Inu Yasha lowered his head, a look Sango couldn't recognize crossed his face. "Why don't you go to her this time?"
"I-"
"Don't tell me Inu Yasha, tell her." Sango said, getting up from her sitting position. "I'm going to go back to the hut and help Kaede with Miroku. He is still sleeping, thanks to the medicine Kaede is giving him." A sad smile spread across Sango's face. "I'm grateful for that. We don't have to deal with both of them right now."
"Sango. I don't know what to say." Inu Yasha's face was twisted in anguish. "I don't know what to say to her."
"The truth. It is all you can say. Let her know the truth about everything. What happened with us, how you feel about Kikyo, and how you feel about her. She needs to hear everything. Whether good or bad."
Inu Yasha was staring at his feet, yet he wasn't really seeing them. His mind was distracted by what Sango was saying. The thought of telling Kagome everything scared him. The words to use were escaping him. He couldn't begin to imagine what all he should be saying to Kagome. His face was that of a man whose fate was in someone else's hands.
After a few moments of silence, he finally said "But I am not really sure about everything."
Sango looked up to the sky, looking for something that would help both of them. "Tell her what you know. Tell her whatever it is that you can tell her. She needs it so much right now, Inu Yasha." Sighing, Sango looked down at the still sitting Inu Yasha. "She is completely in the dark. She doesn't know where she stands."
"I know that, but what am I suppose to tell her." Inu Yasha looked up at Sango, unshed tears shown in his eyes. "What if I say the wrong thing? I don't want to lose her!"
Taken back from the look on the half-demon's face, Sango couldn't say anything for a few moments. She wasn't sure what to say, so she said the only thing should could think of. "Talk from the heart. Say whatever you feel like saying. Just be honest with her."
"I don't know." Inu Yasha said, looking at his feet once more.
"Sango." Shippou came up behind the two. "Kaede needs your help."
"Alright, I'll be there in a moment."
"Okay." Shippou sent a worried look in Inu Yasha's direction before turning back toward the village.
"I have to go, so should you." When Inu Yasha didn't say anything, Sango turned and followed the fading image of the fox demon.
"It's been two days. Two miserable days without you Inu Yasha." Kagome was standing alone beside the great tree. Looking toward the stars. The wind was blowing stray strains of hair into her eyes. Sighing she reached up and moved the hair away from her face.
"How much longer am I suppose to wait mamma?" Lowering her head Kagome thought about what her mother had told her about the flower. 'You see, the flower knows that it was all worth it. That no matter what the cold may bring; the sun will always be there to chase away all the worries, and all the pain.'
"But can I really be like the flower?" Kagome looked toward the ground, her shoulders started to tremble. She was fighting back tears. "Don't cry Kagome, don't cry. No more crying. You have to be strong, like the flower."
Just then Kagome heard a noise coming from the well. It was the cat. It screeched as if in pain, then there was a loud thud. Kagome, worried about Buyo, began to walk toward the building. Slowly. Silently. When she got to the bottom of the steps the door to the shrine opened.
