InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The Vampire Angel ❯ this can't be happening ( Chapter 9 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Thanks to Lil Babe0206 for reviewing AGAIN twice in a row. And it wasn't my decision to take that picture off. It didn't follow some rules. And the more I thought about it the more I realized I shouldn't put it back up because it would ruin it for the people that haven't read it yet. But if you like the picture so much I can e-mail it to you. You just have to tell me. I still have it on my computer.

On with the story

The Vampire Angel
Chapter 9: this can't be happening

Inuyasha was headed home. He couldn't believe he had kissed Kagome. Idiot. Why did you do that? You have a girlfriend, idiot. Idiot. Idiot. Idiot! Idiot! He decided to act like it never happened and move on.

When he got back it was kinda late and Kikyo was cleaning up. She looked up for a second than went back to work.

Then Kikyo says not looking at him, “you're back kinda late” anyone here an echo in here?

“Yeah, it took a while.”

“Apparently.” She says now looking at him.

“What are you so mad about?” Inuyasha asks.

“I'm not mad”

“You are mad. It's not like I could have brought you with me.”

“And why not?”

“Cause…it's too dangerous. I'm not risking your life like that.” He says confidently.

“Oh yeah? It's too dangerous for me? If that's the case than why is Kagome always doing these with you?”

“She's not always there!”

“That's a lie and you know it! She's always there to help you out!”

“Why are you making such a big deal about this?”

“I'm not!”

“You are! Since this is bothering you so much why don't you just come with me on the next one!” there's an abrupt silence. The silence last for 5 whole minutes.

“You mean that?” Kikyo timidly asks.

“Yeah.” she walks over and hugs him.

“Ok” she says, her voice muffled from the hug.

Inuyasha was over at my house and we were going over tactics on the werewolf behind the recent killing spree. There are two types of werewolves. The ones that have no control over themselves and change into this half human/half wolf thing every full moon. Then there are the ones that have control over their thoughts and actions and change into giant wolves whenever they want.

Right now Inuyasha was asking questions about supernatural things and some vampire angel abilities. I was telling him some helpful info on werewolves and at the moment I was complaining on what a drag being a vampire is.

Then he asks me, “ You know, if you hate being a vampire so much why don't you just kill yourself?”

Cause you make me want to live. I pause.“ I don't know. I guess cause I know I have to stay around to kill the ones that deserve to die.

“Seems sensible enough. So when are we going after this thing?”

“Soon. Tomorrow good for you?”

“Sure.”

********************

“When we get there you have to stay somewhere safe. You can't come out and try to help.” Inuyasha was saying to Kikyo.

“Why?”

“I'm serious. You have to stay safe. I don't know what I would do if something happened to you.”

“Ok”

Kagome was already there when Inuyasha and Kikyo showed up. She was standing outside her car leaning against it with her arms crossed and a relaxed expression on her face. Her eyes widened slightly when she realized Kikyo was here.

“I didn't realize you were coming Kikyo.” She says then faces Inuyasha. He gives her a `don't look at me' look.

“Sorry to spoil your fun.” Kikyo says.

“I'd hardly call it fun.”

“You stay back here.” Inuyasha tells Kikyo. Kikyo gives him an `are you kidding me?' look.

“What? No!”

“I mean it. I don't want anything to happen to you.”

“Fine” Kagome has already started walking away. She couldn't stand being there any longer. She needed to get this mission over and done with.

Inuyasha said bye to Kikyo than walked after her.

These werewolves were the ones that had control over themselves. Yeah, I said these. There were two werewolves both in their wolf forms. One a dark brown, the other a rusty red. They are vicious. One has slipped away from my sight, but I don't have time to worry about it because I have to block a bite to my arm from the remaining dark brown one.

Inuyasha and I are helping each other fight off this one. Werewolves are freakishly strong even to a demon. So imagine two, but I'm still worried about the one that has disappeared.

Then we hear a bloodcurdling scream coming from where we left Kikyo. I see Inuyasha pale, then sprint off toward the source of the scream.

I'm struggling with this werewolf. Screw this. I take out my blade and stab it in the heart then flit off after Inuyasha. I hear the werewolf howl in pain but I don't care at the moment I just keep going.

When I get there I see Inuyasha crouching over Kikyo's body. I shove Inuyasha aside to get a better look at Kikyo. She's still conscious but is having trouble breathing. She has deep gashes in her stomach that pretty much went through her. I take out my cell phone and call 911. When I'm done I try to tend to Kikyo as best I can.

It's not going so well. It'll be at least 15 minutes for the paramedics to get here if they hurry. “Keep her busy while I do this,” I tell Inuyasha. Inuyasha's holding her hand as I am trying to help. He's talking to her to keep her going.

“You remember…(pant)…our first date?” Kikyo says trying to keep her hopes up.

“Yeah, I was late and we ended up on having to settle for Nico's Taco Shop instead of the movies.” He says, his voice sort of cracking. Kikyo lets out a sharp laugh.

“Yeah…(labored breathing)… and then we got home late…(hyperventilating)…and had to watch movies all night.” She strives to get out that sentence. Inuyasha laughs uneasily.

Then Kikyo's eyes slide closed.

“No! Kikyo! Come on! Don't die on me Kikyo!” Inuyasha pleads. Then he looks at me.

“Save her!” he orders.

“I've done all I can.”

“Not everything.”

“No, Inuyasha!”

“You can save her. She can live.”

“That's not living Inuyasha.”

“Please! … For me.” That hurt. But doing this to Kikyo. Turning her. That would be like taking her life away.

“I can't do that.” I tell him. Then I see the most heartbreaking thing. Tears falling down Inuyasha's cheeks. He looks back at Kikyo and the paramedics are here.

“Her heart stopped beating 2 minutes ago.” I tell one paramedic.

“How did this happen?” he asks.

“She got mauled by a wolf and we weren't there in time.”

The paramedics get the machine that shocks the person to life. Once. Nothing. Twice. Nothing. Three times. Still nothing. The paramedic looks up to Inuyasha.

“I'm sorry.” Inuyasha's silent. He walks off into the woods to go think.

*******************

I feel absolutely horrible. This is the most terrible I've felt in all my life. I know he doesn't want to see me but I have to explain to him. I knock on the door. No answer but he's in there. The door is locked. I pick the lock with my nails.

“Didn't anyone tell it's rude to come in a house when you weren't invited?” Inuyasha says in a monotonous tone staring across the room from his couch.

“Look. I know you're mad at me, but I did everything possible to help.”

“You did everything humanly possible.”

“You know I couldn't do that.”

“And why not!” he yells looking me in the eye.

“Turning her would be like taking her life away. She would be miserable. She would have to be with me for an eternity and hate me every minute of every day because of what I did to her… Would you really want to wish that on her?” I say calmly. He looks away from me for a while. There's an awkward silence between us.

“Just answer me one thing.” He states.

“What?”

“Would you have done the same thing if it were me?” he asks softly.

“…I…”

“Would you have done the same if it were me!” he yells with fresh tears in his eyes. I wait awhile.

“I would have done the same thing.” I tell him. He just asked me something I've asked myself hundreds of times. Truth is, I don't know what I'd do. It was too heart wrenching to think about. And I didn't want to have to think about it. Not now, not ever. But I know I'll have to eventually.

I leave him alone and exit his apartment.

****************

Inuyasha felt so empty. He also felt bad how he treated Kagome. He realized what she said made sense the more he thought about it. He went to his room and stared at the ceiling. He decided he needed a few days away from work, from life, from Kagome.

****************

I flopped down on my bed and buried my face in a pillow. This is the worst I've ever felt, as I've already said. I turn over and stare up at the ceiling. He needs his space. And I'll give it to him.

Wow. That was hard and intense to write. I bet all you Kikyo haters are whooping for joy. Well this story's almost over. Just kidding. This is like a third or half of the way done. If you guys got ideas with what I should do with Miroku and Sango I would appreciate if you let me know. Please review.
