Chapter Three
Her touch ignited in him a passion he never felt before. It made his skin burn with need, the need to be touched by this goddess. She wrapped her arms around his neck and drew his head closer to her own. Her eyes closed as their lips met. It began as an innocent kiss, a mere of brush of her lips upon his own, but it deepened into so much more. Her tongue entered his mouth of its own accord, and she explored every inch of it. Her arms released their hold on his neck and traveled down his chest, her hands trying to familiarize every inch of his skin, his muscles, his being. The kiss seemed endless; the need for air was a trivial matter compared to their need for each other. When the kiss was finally severed, he almost whimpered.
“Mmhmm, Inuyasha…” she murmured.
Inuyasha leaned in to kiss her again, but she pushed him away.
“You need to wake up, Inuyasha,” she explained.
Thoroughly perplexed, Inuyasha gave her a quizzical look.
“You're dreaming.”
Inuyasha awoke in frenzy as his dream came to sudden, unwanted end.
`Damn, I haven't had a dream like that since…I don't know,' Inuyasha thought.
Looking at the digital clock beside him, Inuyasha immediately jumped out of bed. The clock showed 9:11 AM in bright red digits. Once again, Inuyasha overslept.
`Shit, shit, shit!' he mentally cursed. `Stupid, good-for-nothing alarm clock! It never wakes me up!'
Inuyasha's first class of the college semester, General Psychology, was scheduled to promptly start at 9 o'clock sharp. All students were even sent a letter by the college administrators to not be late on the first day of class. Tokyo University prided itself on punctuality, something Inuyasha wasn't very mindful of. To make things worse, it had to be on the first day.
`This just isn't my day,” Inuyasha thought as he got into the shower.
***********
Kagome's day had started out on a slightly better note. She awoke at 7 o'clock sharp, courtesy of her functional and reliable alarm clock. She proceeded to take a long, hot shower to fully free her mind from the throes of sleep. After she felt completely rejuvenated, she made herself some pancakes for breakfast. While she was munching on her food, her mind subconsciously drifted back to the silver-haired god she had seen just the night before.
`Why am I still thinking about that guy?' she thought. `Get a grip on yourself, Kagome!'
Kagome arrived on the campus of Tokyo University with more than enough time to spare before her first class was scheduled to start at 9 AM. She marveled at the scenery and the environment; soaring trees surrounded the main building, and numerous students were sitting on the grass conversing or playing an enjoyable game of Frisbee. Kagome spotted Ayame walking towards the front door of the main building and caught up with her. It turned out Kagome and Ayame were in the same Psychology class.
`At least I know someone in this place,” Kagome thought. `This day isn't so bad.'
***********
As Kagome and Ayame settled into their spacious classroom, a short, elderly woman entered through the front door. She had a grim expression on her face; Kagome didn't have to be a genius to realize that this woman possessed a “no-shit” type of personality.
“Good morning, ladies and gentlemen,” she said matter-of-factly. “Welcome to General Psychology. I am your professor, Takeru Kaede. You may call me Ms. Kaede. This course is designed for you to understand human behavior and how the mind functions. It will be divided into two sections. This semester, you will be studying the different components of the brain and how each component operates. Next semester, you will be studying human behavior as it relates to our actions and tendencies. Now, please bear with me as I take attendance.”
It was 33 minutes into the class when the front door of the classroom suddenly flew open, and a man with waist-length silver hair barged in.
“You must be Takahashi Inuyasha,” Ms. Kaede said plainly, her tone of voice not betraying the irritated expression planted on her face. “Take a seat, please. Do not be late to my class again, or you will regret it.”
“Sorry,” Inuyasha mumbled, not wanting to invoke any more wrath from this woman; she was just about ready to decapitate him from the looks of it.
`So much for a good first impression,' he thought.
***********
Kagome was in complete and utter shock when he abruptly barged into the classroom. Was he a student here? Apparently so. Her heart wouldn't stop pounding; at one point, she thought it would jump out of her chest entirely. Her nerves were out of control; she was so flustered that Ayame had to make a conscious effort to calm her down. At the moment, very little registered to Kagome's frazzled mind as numerous thoughts ran rampant throughout her brain.
`What if he sees me?'
`Inuyasha, huh? What a weird name.'
`Oh Kami, he's so hot!'
She was brought out of her momentary state of discomfort when she noticed Ms. Kaede intently staring at her, as if waiting for her to do something.
“Do you have an answer, Ms. Higuarashi?” Ms. Kaede inquired.
“What?” Kagome asked, truly confused at what she needed an answer for.
“What part of the brain controls learned physical movements?”
“Um…”
After several more silent moments, Kagome still had no answer.
“Kagome, I suggest you pay attention more often. It's obvious that Mr. Takahashi is a very attractive young man, but that's no reason for you to continuously ogle him during your precious class time.”
Kagome hadn't felt this embarrassed in quite some time; in fact, she wasn't sure when she had ever been this embarrassed. She severed her gaze from Inuyasha and attempted to pay attention, but her mind refused to let her pass up the chance to catch a few more glances at this silver-haired god.
***********
Inuyasha had spotted Sango in the back row of the classroom and proceeded to take a seat next to her.
“I overslept,” he explained. “Stupid alarm clock is useless.”
Inuyasha quickly got settled in and tried to follow the lesson that was already in progress.
“Do you have an answer, Ms. Higuarashi?”
Inuyasha's head turned to the direction of the student who was just called on to answer a question. When he caught sight of her, he was absolutely flabbergasted. He hadn't expected to see this woman, this goddess, ever again after the night before. And here she was, sitting two rows in front of him. From his position, he was able to fully take in her heavenly features. He still couldn't quite comprehend how any woman could be this beautiful. The events of his dream the night before flooded his thoughts at the moment, and Inuyasha grinned sheepishly.
`She looks more beautiful in person, if I do say so myself.'
Then another thought occurred to him.
`She looks a lot like Kikyo,' Inuyasha thought. `Nah, this woman is far more gorgeous.'
“Kagome, I suggest you pay attention more often. It's obvious that Mr. Takahashi is a very attractive young man, but that's no reason for you to continuously ogle him during your precious class time.”
Inuyasha chuckled.
`So, Kagome, huh? The name suits her well.'
`Maybe today isn't such a bad day after all.'
