Chapter Five

Couple of minutes later, Kagome's mouth was hitting the floor.

Aiko swung her bedroom door open, "This is my room." As the result, Kagome stared in awe, gaping at her 'daughter's' room, "Wow!"

'It's bigger than mine… no fair!' It was much larger than hers, and better looking too!

Aiko's spacious room was covered with shelves positioned at her walls. The shelves consist tons of stuffed-animals and picture frames.

Kagome walks over to one of them, 'What's this?' She picks up the red frame and gasp. It was the picture of her wedding! Although, she was never married, she had a beautiful white gown, her wavy (She stared at her straight hair, 'I guess this is how I would look with wavy hair.') hair down, and Inuyasha in the background smiling. Which she found was really weird and very… disturbing. Her face and smile were the exact as her graduation photo. 'Grandma Kioko must be very imaginative.' Kagome thinks wondering what the other pictures have in store.

She looks at Aiko, who is looking at her puzzled. 'Oh!' "Ummm… It's been a while since I've seen our wedding picture. I forgot how beautiful I looked in my dress." Kagome tries to hide her shocked expression while she was staring at the photo. She looks around nervously at the other many pictures.

"Ummm… You have many toys." Kagome says while placing down the wedding picture. She covers it, fully, with a brown stuffed-dog.

Kagome glances at Aiko, "Who gave them to you?"

"You gave me almost all of them."

"Y-Yeah, I know," She tries to hide her mistake again, "What I mean are the toys not given by me."

Kagome persist to question so she could steer Aiko's attention from her so she can circle her room and gaze continuously of the interesting photos of her. She passes by a picture of her in a doctor's coat and with a stethoscope around her neck. Overlooking the rows of stuffed-animals, she comes to a halt at her graduation picture. It was blown up from the original size. Kagome turns seeing Aiko's tilting head and curious stares.

Kagome picks up a random toy, "Like this one, who gave you this."

"You, Mommy."

She instantly drops the toy, "Y-Yes." She points out a purple dinosaur. 'Ew, I would never give you this.'

Aiming her finger at the horrendous dinosaur that haunted her mind when her little brothers were toddlers, she asked, "How about this?"

"Daddy."

She presents Aiko a satisfying grin, "See, Look at that… He gives you ugly toys, no?" Kagome continues to walk around as Aiko observes.

"Mommy, what's you favorite food?" Aiko wonders.

Kagome stares at a photo of her pregnant, "What about you?"

"Oden!" Aiko declares, now excited to be thinking of her favorite dish.

Kagome turns to face Aiko. For the first since she's been here, she smiles genuinely, "You know what, we're the same. I love oden."

Aiko slants her head cutely. "Mommy, what is it you don't like?"

'I don't want to do this anymore!' Kagome thinks freaking out after looking at the pictures. It was all just weird! She's been a part of a little girl's life who adores her with great delight and she now had to become physically part of it.

Aiko takes Kagome's hand and hauls her to the hallway. The little girl points at a door to her right.

"This is Grandma's room."

Aiko drags Kagome down the hallway and to a door, "And this is your room with Daddy."

'W-With Daddy?!' Kagome panics, "Aiko, are there only three rooms here?"

Aiko nods. "Yes."

Kagome bends down to Aiko's level. She takes Aiko's hand in hers, "You missed Mommy right?"

"Yes."

"Do you want us to sleep together?" Kagome smiles hopefully.

"But of course, Daddy missed you too." Aiko beamed.

Kagome's smile fades. She nods with a sigh and closes her eyes.

Aiko stares at her Mommy in a daze. She suddenly points Kagome's nose.

Kagome's eyes open wide. "What's that for, baby?"

"You're real Mommy!" Aiko beams. "This isn't a dream!"

Aiko hugs Kagome, who is taken back at the girl's comment.

Inuyasha was hastily typing away on his computer when he heard his bedroom door open. He swivels to see Kagome enter with a bag on her shoulder.

Kagome comments wearily. "I'm sleepy… Where do I sleep?"

"Where else… but here." Inuyasha twist back to his computer.

Kagome is now fully awake. "You're crazy, right?"

Inuyasha revolves his attention to her, "When you agreed to pretend to be Aiko's mother, it goes without saying you also contracted to be my wife." He points to the king size bed, "We have to sleep together. Thus Aiko will think we're really a couple." Believing it's settled, he returns to his typing.

"You lawyers surely know how to manipulate people." Kagome gruffly removes her bag off her shoulder. "But excuse me! I especially don't want to sleep with a man like you!"

Inuyasha stands up, "Keh." He walks over to the bed, "If that's what you think of lawyers, fine… But I'm not a rapist." Inuyasha clutches the comforter, removing it from beneath the pillows. "Don't worry. I also don't want to sleep with you."

Infuriated, Kagome watches Inuyasha remove the comforter off his bed. He looks to be preparing the bed. "So where are you going to let me sleep?"

Inuyasha folds the comforter in half and lays it on the floor in the end of the bed neatly.

"Here." He points toward the comforter on the carpet.

Kagome raises her eyebrow at him expectantly. 'Aren't I the visitor?'

"You know… you sleep there," She watches Inuyasha place only one pillow on the floor, "I'll sleep on the bed." She grasps her bag off the floor and walks over to the comfy-looking bed. Kagome takes out a cylinder object to Inuyasha. "See this? Don't ever make the wrong move or I'll start spraying."

Inuyasha grins teasingly, "Keh, Do I look that desperate?" He proceeds to his computer.

Kagome mutters furiously, "The nerve!"

Inuyasha shakes his head, "Good night, then."

In the morning, Inuyasha enters the breakfast table that is enchanting a delicious aroma. He notices Aiko seated next to Kagome and his mother across them.

"Good Morning Daddy." Aiko greets him. He pecks her cheek, "Good Morning."

He stands up ready to leave for work late. "Well, have to go to work… bye." He is about to exit, when Aiko calls out to him, "Daddy?"

He turns around to face his daughter. "Yes?"

"Let's eat breakfast with Mommy." Aiko replies like it was the obvious thing in the world.

Inuyasha ignores his grumbling stomach. "I'm sorry… Next time, okay? I'm already late."

Aiko pouts and tries to reasons with her father, "Daddy, it's our first breakfast together as a complete family."

"I really have to go." Inuyasha observes his daughter's dissatisfaction appearance.

Aiko looks down miserably as Kagome watches with a frown. She looks up seeing Inuyasha about to leave. She prevents him by the two fingers placed in her mouth. A loud whistle is blown in the cool morning air.

Inuyasha turns around, astonished, "Are you whistling at me?"

She stands up and walks over to privately talk to him, "Did you not sleep well or are you really a jerk?"

Inuyasha grumpily mutters under his voice.

Kagome proceeds, "Aiko's been waiting for you to come down. This is a special breakfast to her yet you're walking out as if it's nothing."

"I have a lot of work to do." Inuyasha growls out.

"Even so!" She spat at him.

"Look, I'm paying you to help me with my problem." He raged, "Not to add more problems."

She crosses her arms and glares at him hotly. "Look, if you don't eat breakfast with us, I can tell her he truth… now. Plus it's hard to hear your stomach." Kagome finishes with a satisfied smirk. She hastily walks away back to the table and takes the seat next to Aiko. Inuyasha watches with inner turmoil arousing.

"Aiko, Let's pray." Kioko whispers to her granddaughter, steering Aiko's attention from the bickering couple.

All three look up watching Inuyasha enter the room, joining the table. He sits at the head of the table.

"Daddy, Let's pray." Aiko calls out.

They join hands and bow their heads. Aiko, with her eyes shut, starts, "Dear Lord, thank you for our breakfast this morning… Thank you also for bringing Mommy safely from the War in East Timor…"

Kagome wasn't much of a religious person, therefore while Aiko was in the middle of praying, she, feeling hungry, grabbed a sausage with her free hand. She was in the middle of a delicious breakfast when she heard Aiko's praise. She nearly chokes, but quickly recovers to stare at Aiko like the girl grew a second head.

"Thank you." Grandma replies with closed eyes.

Aiko continues, "Thank you for making her escape from the Chinese Bamboo Gang…"

Kagome, nonetheless eating the sausage, stares at Aiko in wonderment, 'What?!'

"Thank you." Kioko says proudly as Inuyasha stares at his mother irritated.

"And for with standing all the tortures that she got there…" Aiko prayed.

"Thank you… Thank you… Thank you." Kioko shakes her head dramatically.

"Thank you for saving her when she fell from the helicopter, while being gunned down by an AK-47." Aiko says.

Open mouthed Kagome's sausage fell from her gaping mouth and drops to her plate. She stares upon the Grandma, 'What a bizarre imagination!'

"Thank you." Kioko replies.

Aiko finishes, "Thank you so much… Amen!" Aiko opens her eyes ready to embark on eating.

"Amen!" Kioko claps her hands, "Breakfast time!" She beams, oblivious of Inuyasha and Kagome's disappointing stares. Kioko grabs a plate of food. She hands it to her son, "Bacon from the pig… it's yummy!" Inuyasha takes the plate with a shake on his head. Kioko turns to Kagome, "Here Kagome, sausages from the cow!" She enthusiastically points to the plate. Kagome looks on with a brow upwards. Kioko points to another plate, "And these eggs from… the market!" Kioko finishes with a life-size smile and commence to eat.

Kagome digs in her food, thinking, 'And I thought my family was weird!'

Later that afternoon, Kagome went to eat lunch with Aiko in school. She had nothing better to do in the house when Kioko requested her to go to Aiko's school. She agreed and is now walking with Aiko outside. They have lunch outside and Aiko was tugging her hand greeting her to all her classmates. They come to a halt, near two little girls eating.

Aiko greets them with a smug smile. She proudly points to her mom, "My Mommy."

The two girls stop and stare at each other incredulously, "Aiko's mom?!" They shout in unison.

Kagome notices Aiko must have told many classmates about her.

Aiko, beaming splendidly, walks down to another classmate, "Mae, my Mom."

Mae greets Kagome with a smile, "Hi!" Kagome smiles back in reply.

Aiko spotting one of her friend drags Kagome to her classmate in a hurry.

Aiko and Kagome stop in front of Suki and her mother, "Suki, my Mom."

"Your Mom?!" was Suki's surprised reply. Aiko sticks out her tongue at her. Suki returns the favor. From behind Suki, many kids appear. One girl asks, "Is that your Mommy?"

Aiko replies, "Yes, she's beautiful right?"

Another classmate questions, "Isn't she the one in the diarrhea commercial?"

Before Aiko could comment, a boy shouts, "Yeah! The one who pooped in her pants! Your Mom pooped in her pants!"

The boy runs when seeing Aiko's furious face and raised fist. Aiko proceeds to chase the sprinting boy. Kagome pursues Aiko to stop her.

She blocks Aiko and says, "Aiko, don't do that. It's bad to pick fights."

Aiko looks up at her mother, "But he was the one who started."

"Even so, you shouldn't fight with other kids."

"Okay Mommy… because you want a more peaceful world, right?" Aiko comments.

Kagome nods with a forced smile, "Uh-huh."

"I'm fighting custody for my child, Suki." Kaya Mitsui said to her. Kagome is now currently eating lunch with a fellow mother she had met.

All the kids were now eating as Kagome and Kaya conversed.

"She lives with my ex-husband now." Kaya continues, "They say it's because I have no job."

Kaya takes a bite out of her lunch as Kagome listens patiently. "I come here at school so I can see my daughter."

Kaya states, "I wait here cause I can't visit in the house were we use to live."

Kagome thought it would be more complicated than that. "That's it?"

"Yes." Kaya nods.

"Why?"

"Long story." Kaya replies with a smile.

"But how about you? I've never seen you before." Kaya inquires.

Kagome chuckles. "Longer story."

They begin to eat in silence when they hear kids crying out, "There's a kitten up the tree!"

The two ladies glimpse up watching the kids gather around a tree.

"Poor kitty." The students comment, "I'll call the teacher."

Kagome and Kaya got up from their table. They went over and stood with the kids.

Aiko spots her Mom and saunters over to her, "Mommy, the kitten's stuck." She aims at the helpless animal.

Kagome looks up and finally finds the kitten. Being a cat-lover, Kagome's heart fell at seeing the vulnerable kitten.

Aiko watches her Mom's worried face. She immediately smiles finding hope in the matter.

Kagome looks down at Aiko seeing her face lit with a knowing smile. She knew that face, 'Oh, no!' She instantaneously cursed.

Kagome mentally crosses her fingers, 'Please don't say anything. Please don't say anything. Please don't say any-'

Too late, Aiko shouts to the kids. "Don't worry everyone. My mom will save the kitty!" She whispers to Kagome, "Mommy, please save the kitty!"

Kagome gulps staring at the tree that seems to have grown taller. She couldn't say no… or Aiko will question why.

She reasons with herself. 'Kagome, you could do this… you fell off a helicopter! How bad could this be?'

She stares up at the endangered kitten… then at Aiko's beaming smile.

Kagome glances back at the small, delicate looking kitten… then to the kids waiting expectantly…

Kagome fretfully chuckles while she nods her head with a strained smile.
