InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Time Heals All Wounds ❯ Meetings and Dates ( Chapter 4 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

Hi there! I am so sorry! I really been busy with school and stuff and I just got enough time to update. Hopefully my updates won't take this long throughout the story. I really thank you for the support that I am getting! Okay enough blabbering own with the story
I don't own Inu and the gang! I just enjoy making them suffer ::grins evilly and pets Inuyasha ears::

`Damn it! I can't concentrate worth a damn!' Inuyasha thought angrily to himself. He had been working on the same part since about 9:15 this morning and now it was going on 12:45. He had a case to work on and his mind kept drifting off. They seemed to remain on Bam-Bam…. or Kagome. She had hypnotized him last night like no other woman ever had, not even Kikyou.
After his little lap dance, he knew he just had to see her again. When the woman came and collected her things and the money, he gave her a note telling her to give it to Bam-Bam. He wondered if she received it and if so, why hadn't she called him. A knock at the door interrupted his thoughts.
“Come in!” he shouted.
“What's up,” Miroku stated as he walked in.
“Keh, trying to work on this damn case but my fucking mind can't seem to stay on track. At this rate I'll never have this ready,” Inuyasha grumbled.
“Ah, this doesn't have to do with a certain entertainer we saw last night does it?” Miroku asked with a knowing smirk.
“Shut it Miroku before I blow your brains out,” Inuyasha gruffly replied.
“Okay, okay. Aren't we mighty touchy?”
“Keh.”
Miroku sighed. He saw his friend last night. That was the first time Inuyasha had been interested in someone since the divorce from Kikyou. This girl just may be the one he needed to get back out there, if not the one he needed at all. They had some very strong chemistry last night too. Either that or some very strong tequila. Oh well, he will let the subject drop. For now that is.
“Well as fun as it is, I didn't come to mess with you about last night. I came to ask if you would like to join me for lunch,” Miroku asked.
“Yeah but not now. Give me about an hour. I need to drop Shiori off down at the library first then pick up some dry cleaning.”
“That's fine. How about around 2:15 then?”
“Yeah that's cool. I should be...” he started but the shrill ringing of his phone interrupted him. He looked at the caller I.D. before rolling his eyes and answering.
“What!” he yelled.
“Now is that any way to greet your elders, little brother?” asked the monotone voice.
“When the elders are you it is. What do you want?”
“I wanted to know how you were coming on that case.”
“Keh, just fine. I got a lot done but I will have more when that woman gives me more information. What was her name again?”
“I don't know and don't care. Just make sure you are doing your job.” After that, Inuyasha heard a click and he knew that the bastard had hung up.
“Stupid bastard. I'm gonna go pick up Shiori and after that I will meet you back here,” Inuyasha told Miroku.
Miroku nodded his head.
“And do me a favor and don't fondle any of the women. I'm tired of bailing your ass out of trouble when you can't control your urges.”
Miroku faked a hurt look. “I have no idea what you are talking about. I never wrongly touched a woman before in my life.”
“Ha. Yeah and I'm the fucking queen of England,” Inuyasha threw back at him as he walked out the door.
`I'm so misunderstood' Miroku thought as he walked out the room.

“…and they all lived happily ever after. The End.” Applause was heard as all the children clapped and cheered.
Kagome sighed. If she read this damn story one more time, she was going to put on a straight jacket and take herself to the loony bin. It was Children's Day at the library and the staff was forced to put on a fairy tale show for them. She was just happy that she was the narrator and not one of the people that had to put the costumes. It was too damn hot.
“Ugh! I'm so freaking tired of wearing this costume,” Kagome's co-worker Eri screamed when all these kids were gone.
Kagome giggled. “Yeah I know. I'm tired off reading this story over and over again. At least you don't have any lines. You just act out whatever I say.”
“Yeah and thank goodness I don't. I can't remember any lines in this heat. By the way, where's Souten?”
“Oh she's spending some time with Hiten today. I just hope they're not giving each other a hard time. They really can't get along to well. Last time she came home, she came in mumbling about him being `a stupid, evil bastard'.”
“I swear she gets her language from you Kags. There is no way that an eight year-old can have such a colorful vocabulary without some help.”
“I know, I know. I try to watch my language but sometimes I can't help it. When I'm stressed it just slips out. And it's also Sango's fault. She has her own little colorful vocabulary.”
Eri giggled. “Yeah she does. Well come on. Some more kids will probably be down here in a minute and I wanna get some lemonade before I get on that hot stage again.”
“Okay. Yeah I could use something to drink.”
~*~*~
Inuyasha sighed as he pulled into the library parking lot. `All these fucking loud brats!' Inuyasha thought. He got out of his car and went to help Shiori out and began to walk towards the back of the library where the festival was being held.
“You know you don't have to walk me all the way there dad. I'm old enough to go by myself,” Shiori huffed.
“Keh, like hell you are. I'm walking you everywhere you go until you're sixteen.”
“Sixteen! Come on dad! I'm not a baby!” Shiori cried.
“But you're my baby so shut up and get over it!” Inuyasha yelled back, quickly ending their little spat. Shiori grumbled but didn't argue back.
When they got to the back, Inuyasha began to think that maybe he should've let her walk by herself. The kids were so loud and messy and were dropping things everywhere. And he was pretty sure he stepped on some cake.
“Daddy, look! They have balloons! Can I have one? Please, please, please, please, please?!?” Shiori yelled!
“Hai, hai just stop yelling!” Inuyasha chuckled at his daughter's antics.
They went towards the balloon pump and waited for someone to come. After a few minutes, Inuyasha got impatient and began to yell.
“Oi! Is there anybody working this damn thing!”
Shiori slapped a hand against her forehead. Leave it to her dad to make a scene in front of all her friends from school. `I swear he is so embarrassing sometimes!' she thought to herself.
“I'm coming, I'm coming!” they heard someone yell.
Just then, Inuyasha saw the woman who had been haunting his thoughts all day come and assist him. She wasn't looking up so she was completely clueless to whom he was or that he was staring her down like Sunday dinner.
“Gomen. These kids are little hard to handle when they have a little too much sweets. How can I assist…..” Kagome cut her tirade short when she looked up into the molten golden eyes that haunted her dreams last night.
~*~*~
“Hey stop that right now!” Kagome yelled. When she and Eri finally got through the wave of kids and to the lemonade, they saw to boys going at it over a piece of cake.
“He stole my cake!” one boy yelled.
“No I didn't! This cake is mine!” the other one retorted.
“Boys, boys! May I remind you that there is plenty of cake laid out for you on the TABLE?!?” Kagome screamed over the arguing twosome.
As though I light clicked in their head, the boys stopped arguing and ran over towards the table to get two new pieces of cake. But when they got there, they grabbed oh-so-coincidentally grabbed the same piece and another fight ensued.
“Hey! Knock it out!” Eri yelled. One of the boys threw the cake at the other. The other boy ducked but the cake hit Kagome square on the stomach.
“Ugh! This is a new shirt!” she yelled. They boys looked at her sheepishly and apologized. Kagome sighed, “I guess it's alright but please go play somewhere else.” The boys then shrugged and went to go play at the other end of the field.
“Here Kagome,” Eri said as she gave her a wet paper towel.
“Thanks Eri,” Kagome replied as she attempted to get the icing stain off of her shirt. When she finally got the stain to go a little away, she heard someone yell.
“Oi! Is somebody working this damn thing!”
Kagome sighed. `This day is just not getting better' she though to herself. “I'm coming, I'm coming!” she yelled back.
She went over to the balloon section and began to apologize to the unknown customer. When she finally looked up, she stopped to a dead halt in her sentence as she faced the eyes of the man who haunted her dreams.
~*~*~
“Hi,” she said shyly. `Oh wait a go Kagome. Yeah that sounded really smart,' she told herself.
“Hi,” he answered.
“I-I got your note.”
“Yeah?” Inuyasha replied hopefully.
“Yeah. I just been so busy today that I haven't had time to call,” she replied.
“Aren't you Souten's mom,” Shiori asked.
“Yes I am. And what is your name little one?”
“My name's Shiori. What's your name?”
“Shiori!” Inuyasha yelled. “No it's quite alright. My names Kagome Higurashi but you can just call me Kagome,” she replied with a sincere smile.
“Okay Kagome. Can you make me a balloon please?” Shiori asked.
“Sure, not a problem.” Kagome quickly made Shiori a balloon. Shiori then happily bounced away to play with her friends, her balloon in tow.
“So, you work at the library too, huh?” Inuyasha asked as he walked towards his car causing Kagome to walk with him.
“Yeah. The library pays good, but I especially enjoy the kids,” she answered him back.
“So why do you work at the club if the library pays good, if you don't mind me asking.”
“Well, I had that job first and I got this one a couple of months later, after I bought my house, to get my savings back up. When I did, I thought that I should just keep both, since it keeps money in my pocket,” she answered him.
“Oh, I see. What about Souten's father?” he asked. `Please don't let them be together, please don't let them be together,' Inuyasha chanted in his head.
“We aren't together. He's there for her and pays child support, but a relationship is out the question.”
`YES!' Inuyasha thought. They soon reached his car in the parking lot. Inuyasha then turned around and faced Kagome.
“Look, um, what are you doing next Friday?” he boldly asked.
“Um, nothing. I think I'm off then. Why do you ask?” `Is-Is he asking me on a date?' she thought to herself.
“Um, I was thinking… Would you like to go out with me? You know like a restaurant?” `Yeah REAL smooth genius' he cursed himself.
`Oh my! He IS asking me on a date,' “Uh, sure. I'll just get a babysitter for Souten.”
“Just bring her over to my place. I have the best nanny.”
“Okay, I'd like that,” Kagome replied with a smile.
“Okay. I'll call you with some other details. Oh, can I have your number?” Inuyasha asked sheepishly.
Kagome giggled and wrote her number down on the palm of his hand. Inuyasha smiled and got in his car.
“I guess I talk to you later.”
“Okay. Bye Inuyasha.”
“Bye Kagome,” Inuyasha replied. Inuyasha pulled off, watching Kagome out his rearview mirror until she was out of sight.
`I have a date! Yes! I'm really feeling this girl too. She's so nice and caring. She's also seductive and fine as HELL! Yes Inuyasha you are one lucky man,' Inuyasha began to praise himself. `That reminds me, I need to call Kaede and see if she can babysit for me. And get the police on speed dial because I know they don't like each other. I know Kaede can handle things though.'
~*~*~
Kagome began to walk back to the festival. She was smiling dreamily and had a goofy look on her face. `I have a date with Inuyasha. He is so nice and funny and fucking HOT!' she thought to herself. She was cut out of her tirade when she heard Eri scream her name.
“Kagome, get you're a-double-s over here!”
“I'm coming!” Kagome yelled. She sighed, `I guess I have to go back to reading this damn story again. Ugh!'
~*~*~
Shiori looked at Kagome as she read the story. She usually didn't agree with her father's choice in women but Miss Kagome seemed very nice. She was kind, sweet and had a loving aura about her. She knew she was a miko for Kagome held great powers, but Shiori knew she wouldn't use them to hurt her father. `Maybe I can get to know her a little. Even if I don't like her daughter, I still want to be her friend. Maybe she can be my new mommy,' she thought. When the story was over, she went over towards Kagome.
“Miss Kagome?”
Kagome looked down at Shiori, a graceful smile on her face. “Yes Shiori?”
“I was wondering…” Shiori paused.
“Yes?” Kagome urged her.
“Do you like my daddy?”
Kagome sputtered for a minute before she answered. “Yes Shiori I do. And I like you too.”
“Good, because I know he likes you too. And so do I. You're really nice and very pretty.”
Kagome blushed. “Thank you Shiori. Come on, lets go get some cake.”
“Okay!” Shiori exclaimed. She grabbed Kagome's hand and began walking to the cake table. `Yes I like her very much. I just have to either ignore Souten or get on her good side. Miss Kagome and my daddy are very good together and she is not gonna ruin this.'
~*~*~
Kagome sat down on her couch thinking about her exhausting day. She stayed a little after the festival was over to help clean up and came home. After her relaxing shower, she decided to sit on the couch and watch some T.V. until Hiten dropped Souten home. She then began to think about her date with Inuyasha that coming Friday. The phone then began to ring and Kagome got up to answer it.
“Hello?”
“Hi, is this Kagome,” the voice asked.
“Yes it is. Who is this?”
“Hi Kagome. This is Inuyasha.”
“Oh! Hi, how are you,” she asked with a smile.
“I'm great what about you?”
“A little tired but I think I will live,” she laughed.
Inuyasha chuckled “I hope so, we have a date Friday.”
“Yes. Speaking of which, where are we going?”
“That is a surprise. I will tell you to dress casually and I will have a limo pick you and Souten up around seven. Then they will bring you back here so I can take you out and Souten can stay with Shiori and Kaede, the nanny.”
“Okay let me give you my address.” Kagome quickly gave him the address and directions on how to get there.
“Okay Kagome. I will see you Friday.”
“Okay Inuyasha. Goodnight.”
“Goodnight Kagome.” They both hung up the phone and Kagome sat back on the couch, grinning like a love-struck teenager. Just then, Souten walked through the door and slammed it shut. Kagome winced.
“How was your day honey?” Kagome asked.
Souten just looked at her mother and walked up the stairs grumbling about `that stupid, evil bastard' and her `dumbass father' and `how she should've purified his ass.' She walked up the stairs and slammed the door. Kagome winced again, `Maybe I should wait until tomorrow to tell her about Inuyasha and Shiori,' she thought as she locked up the house and went to bed.
