Belonging
Ch 9 - Pussycat Club
*****
*I can't believe I'm doing this.*
Kagome was in the backseat of Yura's car sitting behind the Pussycat Club. Their assignment from Sesshoumaru was to put a listening device on Kouga to listen in on the Wolves activities.
Kagome had actually been happy when Yura called her at midnight and told her to get her ass to the front door. Kagome had seen this as something that could take her mind off Inuyasha. They had not parted on the greatest of terms. She could feel his anger as she walked out his apartment.
She had promised herself and said to him that she didn't want to see him again. And now she would probably see him at the club. It wasn't just the fact that she would see Inuyasha that was making it difficult it was also the fact of what the Pussycat Club was. It wasn't a dance club like AkumA, it was a strip club.
****FLASHBACK****
Kagome was once again surrounded by Demons. She was lined up against the wall with all the other girls; the only difference was that she wasn't listening as carefully as she should have. She was still thinking about Inuyasha and the scene that was produced. She still remembered the flicker of red in his eyes when she walked out.
She glanced at Sesshoumaru as he spoke of the night's mission. Kagome already knew it involved her that was all Yura would tell her. Or it was all Yura knew. Kagome wasn't all too sure. She knew that she didn't want to be there. Naraku kept on leering at her from the moment she stepped foot in the hideout. She had made the conscious decision to not be afraid; her silent fear became anger. And again that warming sensation was created. It kept coming and going and it was starting to worry her but she refused to tell anyone until she knew what it was.
She was knocked from her thoughts by Yura who nudged her side and gestured with her head for Kagome to listen. Yura had been asking since she picked up Kagome what was wrong. Kagome had just shook her head and remind quiet.
*Is my face that open to my feelings?*
Kagome shook her thoughts of Inuyasha from her head and turned to listen to his brother. It was hard to believe the two were related. Even though she had never had that much interaction with Sesshoumaru, he seemed a complete opposite of Inuyasha social wise. And even though it didn't take her long to realize that Inuyasha was an ass, he still didn't scare her like Sesshoumaru.
She had no idea how Rin could stand him. Kagome glanced down at the quiet girl. Kagome still hadn't gotten to know the young girl that well. She was almost always with Sesshoumaru. When she wasn't she was with her sister Rei. Rin was actually younger then Kagome. She thought Yura said the girl was 16.
*Now that's dirty.* She thought that him being 10 years older would make a big difference but obviously it didn't. Then something struck Kagome. *Why would his age matter? He's already a few hundred years older anyway.* Then Kagome began to wonder if Rin was part demon. Yura didn't say anything to that extent but Kagome wouldn't have been surprised if the girl were a demon.
"Kagome?" she actually turned her attention to him when she heard the strong rumble of his voice.
She noticed that all the eyes were on her she felt very conscientious, "I can do whatever you need me to." She said quickly to cover her bad listening.
He nodded and proceeded to explain her part, "Kagome will put the device on Kouga." He looked around the room, "It's everyone else's job to distract the rest of the gang. I don't know how many have seen Kagome. I know that the girls will not be there." He looked back to Kagome, "No need to worry about Kikyo." He said with a smirk.
Sesshoumaru was not surprised when Kagome had told him about the girl with the energy in her hands. All he had said when she told him that Kikyo had missed with her aim was, "She'll be careful not to miss again" Kagome got the distinct feeling that Sesshoumaru thought it was funny; her showdown with Kikyo. It had puzzled her but she hadn't asked the demon for the fact that Sesshoumaru didn't seem like a man who answered questions.
Oh, but she had a question right now that had to be answered. It was hard for her to speak up for the fact that people were looking at her again with his Kikyo comment; apparently Kikyo didn't miss much.
"Uh Kouga's already seen me and then what about Inuyasha?" she said quickly.
Sesshoumaru shook his head, "No need to worry. Yura told me he was on the second floor when he looked at you. Wolf youkai rely on their power of smell more than sight. And Inuyasha? Don't worry he won't be there. We'll cover you."
Kagome didn't believe that statement, "Like Yura covered me from Kikyo?" she muttered looking pointedly at the dark-haired girl. Kagome could have sworn she saw a blush flush Yura's cheeks.
"It'll be different this time, the only girls going are you and Yura and she will be driving the car only. Our people will come from the front and as long as Kouga is left alone everything should go well."
It must have been public knowledge that Kouga didn't fight unless it was absolutely necessary. Kouga wondered briefly how someone so cowardly could become a leader to a gang. The plan sounded simple enough but another question popped into her head.
"Where's the meeting at?" She questioned. She had forgotten about all the damage inflicted upon the AkumA club by Kikyo's rage.
Sesshoumaru didn't even look up as he said nonchalantly, "The Pussycat Club."
Even though the room had been silent before the tension quickly got thicker. Kagome saw Yura's eyes bug out and the small smirk on almost all the guys' lips. She wasn't so naïve as to NOT know what the Pussycat Club was. It was a strip club.
*I have a problem.* There was no way Kagome would be able to take a step in a place like that. Questions started popping into her head.
"I'm not going to be an actual stripper am I? I mean where the hell am I going to put my gun? I can't go in there unprotected." She rambled on until Sesshoumaru gave her look to shut up and listen.
"You're not going to be a stripper. You'll be a waitress. And there's no need for you to have a gun anyway. YOU will be doing this no one else." He said sternly. That obviously meant it was the end of discussion.
****END*FLASHBACK***
It had originally sounded simple enough. But now as she sat in the backseat she was having second thoughts. She looked over to the back door, which was her way in. She could still see the tops of the glittering lights and red cursive lettering that spelled out PuSSycat Club. The 'S's were shaped as cats that looked like they were made of smoke. The colors were almost blinding against the moonless night. Other then that a person wouldn't really be able to tell what the place was. All the stripping happened behind the closed doors of a long 2-story building. It looked more like a place that catered to business then pleasure.
Kagome glanced at the dashboard clock; it was 2:00 AM. When she had left home everyone in her house was sleeping, except for Souta who had begged her to sleep at a friend's house. She was happy that her little brother was getting more friends. She had reasoned that because of his serious nature it was harder for him to relate to other care-free kids his own age.
She looked down at her attire. Kagome had dressed like she was going to a club because that's where she originally thought she was going when Yura picked her up. But when she heard about the 'club' they were actually going to Yura had made her change. She was now wearing a black pleated miniskirt that barely hid the fact her panties were blue.
She had changed her shirt also because as Yura said, "Come on Kagome you don't want to stick out by not looking slutty enough." The girl couldn't stop laughing at Kagome's predicament. So Kagome changed her shirt to a tiny blue (to match her panties) strappy tank.
Sesshoumaru had told her not to move until she got a call. The boys were supposed to be there already but of course she saw nothing. Sesshoumaru had already mapped out her route and given her all the instructions on what to do incase she was taken. He said there was a very slim chance of her being captured but to still be alert.
*****
It had not been a good day for Inuyasha.
For one, it was a moonless night meaning he was human until the sun rose. He preferred not to do anything related to business on a night when he could not properly protect himself. But Kouga didn't see it that way. Inuyasha could swear that Kouga did things like this on purpose because he liked to see Inuyasha weak.
He was also fuming over Kagome's departure and he couldn't figure out what the big deal was. So what if he was going out with Kikyo? It wasn't like Kagome wanted him for herself.
*But Kikyo did try to kill her.*
His plan on becoming her friend wasn't working out the way he wanted. Now he had to figure out a way to get in contact with her without using Souta as an excuse. Souta had said his sister didn't know anything about him being with the Wolves. Inuyasha planned to keep it that way for a while. The boy was now with Shippou scoping out the shrine which was the subject of the late night meeting he was now sitting at.
Kouga was the one who wanted it to be at the Pussycat Club. Normally, Inuyasha really didn't mind the abundance of flesh hovering around their table and throughout the brightly lighted club. But the meeting was important. As Inuyasha looked around at his comrades he realized that not much talking was being done. Miroku looked like he was about to jump one of the dancers prancing on the stage. He actually didn't look any different from the other 7 guys around the table. The only one not ogling the girls was Jensei and that was because he was up front with the bouncer making sure no Demons were around.
"DAMMIT people listen!" Inuyasha yelled as he slammed his fist into the table. He always had to be meaner when he was human just so people would listen.
The rattled table caused the shot glasses to turn over. The clinking noise finally got the attention he wanted and he continued on where he had left off, "Does no one understand that this will not be so easy?" He turned to Niko a pudgy guy with a shaved head, "Where is everyone going to be on standby?"
Inuyasha was not very happy and very frustrated. Even though his friend Niko tried to keep a cool demeanor, Inuyasha could still see fear in his eyes. People liked to keep away from Inuyasha during this time of the month for the fact he was even angrier then if he was in his demon form.
Niko stuttered as he spoke, "H- Here I mapped it out and th-the times are included." He brought out a map of the city. It was a detailed map highlighting the route of the cargo. The wolves wouldn't attempt to take it though until it got to the shrine. And although there was only one destination everything still had to be timed because the shrine they were hitting had guards that changed on a schedule.
Everyone at the table had a look and had no problem with it until it came to Miroku, "No." he said as he shook his head, "We don't know if any Demons are going to be there we need to have all our man power at the shrine. Why not just put the girls along the carrying route?"
"Are all the girls with us?" asked Kouga. He had known about some of the girls not wanting to help. Even some of the guys were adverse to it but they, unlike the girls, didn't have a choice.
Miroku nodded, "As long as they wouldn't actually be ransacking a shrine I doubt they'll have a problem."
"Kikyo needs to stay with us at the shrine." Kouga said. He may have not liked Kikyo but he wasn't stupid enough to think she wasn't one of the most powerful people they had.
Niko nodded as he rewrote new instructions on the map. Just then Jensei walked in pushing his way past strippers and waitresses. Jensei was one of the least likely to be in a gang. He was a big guy but he had the nicest demeanor anyone could ever have. The only reason he had joined was because the Demon's had destroyed his father's shop and the family's only income.
Jensei walked up to the table and spoke to Kouga. Kouga's expression turned form lighthearted to angry in a matter of seconds.
"We need to go. Jensei saw Demons up front." Kouga said menacingly.
*This is why I don't leave my place during a moonless night.* Inuyasha sighed.
