Chapter 2

Plans for Kagome's and Inuyasha's wedding were well under way. Kagome wanted everything to be special. Not many people knew about Inuyasha, so they planned an intimate wedding. Kagome had picked the perfect spot for the ceremony. She had wanted to be married before the tree where she had first met Inuyasha, and where he proposed to her.

"It's going to be a beautiful day!" Kagome said to nobody in particular.

Kagome had chosen a delicate white dress for her special day. Its spaghetti straps and neckline set off her stunning complexion to perfection. The dress hugged her curves beautifully. The dress's wide layered skirts swirled beautifully from her rounded hips about her delicate ankles as she moved before her mother's dress mirror. The exquisite bodice with its amazing floral motifs was truly breathtaking. Her mother gave her a matching set of pearl earrings and necklace.
Kagome's mother also purchased a gift for Inuyasha; she had given him a white suit. It was really hard convincing the hanyou not to wear his red one, but with a little gentle persuasion from Kagome via a few sits; he had reluctantly relented.

The wedding day had arrived. Sango, Miroku and the others decorated the tree beautifully. The display consisted of a mix of pink and white roses encircling its girth. The place where Kagome and Inuyasha would stand was strewn with pink and white rose petals as too was the aisle along which they would walk. It was a beautiful day, and nothing in the world could destroy their happiness.

Little did they know their special day would soon be ruined.

In a small village in a secluded hut; her voice echoed within the tiny hut as the spiteful woman vowed to be the agent of destruction as she prepared to set her plan in motion.

"How could he marry her when we meant so much to each other ... she's part of me ... how could he want her? ... This isn't right, she doesn't deserve him ... they would never have met if not for me ... I will see her dead before I allow him to marry her ... I'm going to need some help, and I know just the right person to ask ... You better be ready, Kagome, for you shall die I promise!" She cried as her wicked laughter filled the tiny hut.

Inuyasha walked into Kaede's hut to see Kagome. He stood in the doorway and shouted her name.

"Kagome, where are you?"

"In here, Inuyasha ... what is it?"Kagome answered trying to keep the annoyance out of her voice.

He shrugged and decided to enter. Suddenly, he found himself the subject of a sit, and then a huge thump came from within Kaede's hut.

"What did you do that for?" he shouted exasperatedly.

"Its bad luck to see the bride before the wedding, Inuyasha! ... now go away!" Kagome said chidingly as Inuyasha climbed unsteadily to his feet and made a sheepish apology extracting a faint smile from Kagome's softening face as he turned and left the hut with any remaining dignity as he went. Inuyasha then noticed Miroku walking towards him.

"Time to get ready, Inuyasha," Miroku said patting his friend's back.

"Thanks Miroku, I'm ready!" He replied smiling at his friend.

Miroku and Inuyasha walked towards the tree. The preparations were beautifully done and the two men reflected on the stunning sight lost in their private thoughts. They were amazed by the lace motifs woven into the sheets upon the ground surrounding the base of the tree that had a magical charm about it.

Kagome's mother had brought a minister with her through the well; he was very confused by his surroundings. Kagome's mother told him she would explain later.
Kaede was so thrilled about this wonderful day; she truly believed Inuyasha had found his soul mate and was at long last truly happy. She felt a little guilty about Kikyo, who was too absorbed in her hatred to ever truly love anyone; she blamed Naraku for her sister's demise. Kaede prayed she would find peace.
She put these thoughts out of her mind and stood off to one side ready to sing there wedding song. Miroku stood with Inuyasha at the base of the tree waiting for Kagome.

"Are you nervous, Inuyasha?" Miroku asked smiling.

"Of course not you fool! Why should I be?" he retorted.

"Whatever!" Miroku said.

Little did he know, Inuyasha was truly nervous; he couldn't wait to see Kagome. Kaede started singing. Sango gracefully descended the hill leading the bridal party; her dress similar to Kagome's, but it was a soft pink. Kagome's two best friends from her timeline followed after . After Kaede had sung her moving tribute, Kagome's mother quickly loaded a CD into the player she had brought with her, and soon the magical tones of the traditional Wedding March enveloped their surroundings. Everyone rose to their feet as Kagome appeared atop the hill looking resplendent with Shippo by her side.

Since Kagome had lost her father; she wanted Shippo to be the one who walked her down the aisle. He knew she was beautiful, but nothing had prepared him for the vision of loveliness now moving in his direction. Kagome reminded him of a beautiful goddess who was about to bestow her benediction upon them all. She was a stunning woman with her gorgeous wedding dress the envy of the female contingency and appreciated by those males amongst the assembly. Kagome and Shippo walked down the aisle with arms linked and soon stood beside Inuyasha and Miroku.

The minister asked, "Who gives this woman to Inuyasha?"

Kagome's mother responded, "Her father and I do," she said with love and pride, and though he was gone; he was there in spirit.

Shippo stepped forward to give Kagome away.

"You better make sure you love her always, Inuyasha," He said looking at him in the eye.

Inuyasha assured Shippo he always would.

Kagome stood looking at Inuyasha, who looked stunning in his white suit, it matched his hair perfectly. They stood facing each other as the minister began the ceremony.

When the minister asked if any man had any valid reason these too should not be married and voice their objections, or forever hold their peace, not a sound could be heard. Their silence wasn't because anyone wished to object, but simply because of the look Inuyasha gave the assembly. If anyone did have any objection; it would be a brave fool who raised their hand.

Meanwhile, a short distance away, two figures moved quickly towards the location where the wedding was taking place in an attempt to stop it. However, they were too late.

One could already hear the minister's words echo throughout the trees and surrounding hills.

"I pronounce you man and wife ... you may kiss your bride,"

Inuyasha took Kagome's lovely face into his strong, yet gentle hands and kissed her deeply.

"I love you Inuyasha, my husband," Kagome said smiling as her eyes radiated with the glow of a new bride's adoration.

"And I love you too, Kagome, my wife," he responded happy to feel the warmth of her body and the fullness of her feminine form draped in the fabric of her wedding gown, a feeling he would always cherish in the shrine of his heart.

Everyone began to cheer for the happy couple. Unbeknownst to them all; Kikyo stood hidden by the underbrush watching with hawk like eyes.

"Damn, we're too late!" Kouga hissed stamping his foot into the rotting leaves at his feet.

"No, we're not ... I don't care if he's taken her as his bride ... I will kill her anyway!" she said tearing a leaf in two before crushing it in her small hands.

"No ... let me have her, and you can do what you wish to Inuyasha," Kouga answered as his eyes flashed with anger.

"Fine, just do it now!" Kikyo whispered impatiently.

Everyone gave the newly weds a resounding round of applause before Kagome looked up as a sudden gust of wind caught her attention.

"What's going on ... where's all this wind coming from?" Kagome asked her husband while holding his hand.

Inuyasha was not at all surprised; he knew exactly what and who it was.

Standing in a tree upon a thick branch stood Kouga.

"What the hell do you want, Kouga?" Inuyasha spat, "you're not welcome here!"

"Oh, come now ... is that any way to treat a guest? ... I'm not the only one who has come all this way to see the happy couple," Kouga said feigning hurt feelings.

There was a rustling sound, and Kikyo emerged from the foliage shaking the leaves from her hair. They stood in a state of complete shock, for they hadn't seen Kikyo in years.

"Kikyo," Inuyasha cried, "what is the meaning of this ... why are you here?" he enquired.

"I've come to offer congratulations to the happy couple, of course," Kikyo replied as a sense of foreboding descended upon Inuyasha, Kagome and their friends and family.

"How did you know we were here?" Kagome asked trying to read Kikyo's face.

"No need to concern yourselves about that," Kikyo answered smiling.

"Why are you here?" Kagome asked suspicious of the woman standing before her.

"I came to give you something," She said with a smile.

"What could you possibly have that I would want?" Kagome enquired not trusting Kikyo's pretentious tone.

"This!" she screamed and pulled out a knife and inflicted a small cut upon Kagome's forearm.

"Kagome!" Inuyasha shouted, but for some reason he couldn't move.

None of them could, for Kikyo had placed a spell on them.

"What do you want Kikyo? ... Stop this please!" he cried desperately.

"I won't Inuyasha; if I can't have you, neither will she ... Kouga, now!" Kikyo commanded.

Kouga leapt from the tree and swept Kagome into his arms. Kagome screamed as she fought to break free, but she couldn't, because he was too strong. Kouga looked back at a paralyzed Inuyasha and laughed.

"Kagome will now be mine, dog-demon!" he bellowed triumphantly.

He leapt into the trees with Kagome screaming.

"Inuyasha, help me please ... Inuyasha!" she continued to cry until he could no longer hear her. Kikyo stood back laughing at them all.

"I will kill her Inuyasha, you can bet on that!" Kikyo boasted.

Kikyo was swept into the air by her lost souls; she didn't go too far as she wanted to see the pain in their eyes. Kikyo stood by watching and listening. By the time they could move their limbs, it was too late as Kagome's abductors were long gone. Inuyasha fell to his knees, for his Kagome was gone.

"I will find you Kagome, I promise ... Kouga and Kikyo will pay for what they've done!" Inuyasha vowed.

Everyone was heartbroken, especially Inuyasha, for just as he joined his life to hers on a day supposed to be their happiest she had been ripped away from the one she loved.

"I love you, Kagome ... I will have you back soon my love," he cried as tears flowed down his reddened cheeks.

Everyone could see the determination in Inuyasha's eyes, and silently prayed that Kagome would be found soon.
