Chapter 6
Kikyo's souls moved beyond the barrier to destroy her enemies; she did not want Inuyasha rescuing Kagome. She had waited too long for this moment, and she wasn't about to let anyone ruin it for her.
"Inuyasha look, Kikyo's souls are approaching us!" shouted Sango.
"Everyone ready to fight?" asked Inuyasha as he stood ready before his friends to lead the fight.
Kikyo's souls easily passed through the barrier to hunt down Kikyo's enemies.
"Kiara... come!" shouted Sango.
As they leapt into the air to fight; Miroku placed a spiritual barrier around Sango as he didn't want his love harmed. Shippo had learned so much from all his friends who stood with him now to face their enemy; his fox fire had become incredibly strong as too his other tricks. He used his skills brilliantly. They had combined their powers for the fight, and were more than ready to answer the challenge.
Kouga stood back and watched as they attacked Kikyo's spirit minions to no avail; they just kept coming and coming. Kouga was impatient and decided the direct approach might prove more effective and tried to use his wind speed to crash through the barrier.
Despite the fact he no longer possessed a jewel shard; he still had the ability to travel at high speed. He rushed the barrier and was thrown back into a tree.
"Damn it... I must get to Kagome, I need her and won't give her up ... I won't let that stupid woman kill her ... I have to try again!" he said before picking himself up and making another attempt.
Once again Kouga rushed towards the energy shield, and was knocked unconscious; Inuyasha saw what happened and smiled.
"Stupid wolf-demon, he deserves everything he gets!" he laughed.
"Kouga's right about one thing... we must get past this obstacle. I wish there was some way we could," Inuyasha said angrily as everyone felt tired with the effort.
"This can't go on," shouted Miroku. "We have to find a way inside now."

"You know miss Kagome ... looks like you won't be rescued today ... poor dears can't get past my souls or my little energy barrier ... You will die here today and so will the rest of your friends! ... Inuyasha will be all mine, for none of you shall be alive to stop me!" she boasted feeling her confidence return with renewed vigor as Kikyo started to laugh once again.
Kagome was really p****d now. 'I have to find a way to help Inuyasha and the others, but how!' she thought while considering every possible idea that came to mind.
Unbeknownst to Kagome; Miyoga was peeking out from within her hair. He had been attached to her the whole time.
"Kagome it's me ... Miyoga!" he whispered.
"Miyoga... how did you get here?" she asked totally amazed.
"I have been with you the whole time ... I wanted to help just in case Inuyasha couldn't find you, and because I wanted to see where Kikyo was taking you ... So I hopped upon your back when Kouga ran off with you." Miyoga whispered in Kagome's ear.
"Why is it you're just appearing now?" Kagome whispered back.
"I didn't want to make a scene until I knew it was safe to speak ... I may have an answer to your problem with the energy barrier; there may be a way to help the others," Miyoga suggested.
"How? ... You must tell me right now!" she urged quietly, but not quietly enough, for Kikyo noticed Kagome's lips moving.
"What are you muttering about over there?" she snapped.
"I was just thinking aloud about how much I'm going to enjoy killing you," Kagome replied with a smile on her face.
"You wish! ... you know there's nothing you could ever do to me?" she retorted.
"That's where she's wrong" stated Miyoga. That is what I need to tell you," he said quietly. "Kagome, you're Kikyo's reincarnation, and you're part of her in every sense ... There may be a way you can harness her powers as well!" Miyoga continued.
'Sure I'm skilled with the bow, but I've not considered anything like this!' she thought to herself.
If this helped her save Inuyasha and the others, now was the best time to try something new to stop Kikyo.
"Miyoga... what do I have to do, and how exactly can these powers be used?" Kagome asked trying not to draw Kikyo's attention.
"I want you to first link with Inuyasha and convey what I've told you, and then we'll begin," Miyoga replied.
Kagome extended her mind as she attempted to reach Inuyasha once again.
'Inuyasha ... Inuyasha, listen to me!' she sent her thoughts like an arrow to her love.
Suddenly, Inuyasha stopped mid attack and focused on Kagome's voice.
'I hear you my love ... are you okay?' he asked relieved to hear her voice.
'Yes, I'm fine for the moment ... Listen; Miyoga is here with me and he has told me something interesting ... I may be able to harness Kikyo's powers, because I'm her reincarnation, and for that reason this just might work to our advantage ... Miyoga wants me to try to break Kikyo's barrier, I must tap into Kikyo's powers to do this,' she explained while Inuyasha listened carefully.
'Okay Kagome, but please be careful, if she senses what your doing, she'll kill you!' he warned her.
'If I can access her powers, she won't be able to touch me!'
'Just be careful my love,'
'I will,' she re-assured him.
Kagome broke the connection; she whispered to Miyoga, "I'm ready!" she grinned.
Inuyasha had informed the others of Kagome's intensions.
"I'll also concentrate on Kagome and the barrier, perhaps I can help her in some way," said Miroku.

Miyoga asked Kagome to concentrate on the energy barrier.
"I want you to picture her energy field ... picture it in your mind and focus on it," he instructed.
"Yes, I can see it now!" she whispered.
"Now I want you to visualize the barrier dissolving," he continued.
Kagome applied herself to the task at hand, but it was proving harder than she imagined.
"I can't!" she whispered in frustration.
"You can, Kagome ... now relax and take a slow deep breath and try again ... now re-focus and concentrate harder," he urged.
Kagome felt her concentration build, and something else too. She sensed Miroku's presence; he was trying to help her. She meditated upon the energy barrier with renewed vigor, and finally it appeared in her mind's eye. She screamed inwardly the command to break through the wall of energy and watched it disintegrate.
"Kagome did it, Inuyasha, its gone!" Miroku shouted excitedly.
"I did it Miyoga, I've destroyed her wall ... I can feel so much power coursing through me right now!" she told him in a low tone.
"Perhaps now your powers are fully awakened," Miyoga suggested.
"My powers, what do you mean?" Kagome enquired sounding a little confused.
"You've always had powers, you've simply been unaware of them," Miyoga said to the stunned young woman still reeling from her experience.
"Well, perhaps I can use that power to destroy Kouga and Kikyo!" she mused.

"How the hell did they get past my barrier?" Kikyo growled.
Kagome looked at her and smiled.
"I told you Kikyo; it's the strength of our love... there's nothing you can do to stop him coming for me," she said to the angry Kikyo who clenched her fists.
"You'll be dead by the time he reaches you!" she shouted defiantly.
Kikyo wasn't sure if she was having a bad dream, for as she watched she couldn't believe the evidence of her eyes and rubbed them and blinked, but Kagome had stood up and broke her chains.
"I don't think so Kikyo!" she declared standing feet apart with arms crossed across her chest.
"What the, how did you get free?" Kikyo demanded.
Kagome strode towards Kikyo, and stopped a pace or two away and smiled at her.
"Wouldn't you like to know?"
