Chapter 2: A New Life
Inuyasha woke to the captains voice saying to buckle up they were going to be landing soon. He stretched in his seat and stared out the window at the turquoise sea below. They flew over many tiny islands before reaching Honolulu. The plane got complete silent. Everyone was admiring the beauty of the hills and trees. It was as if everyone had taken a vow of silence through out the craft. Even the flight attendants stopped and looked out windows whose seats were vacant. The huge jumbo finally landed. Everyone snapped beck to reality at the sight of concrete and asphalt. The passengers stood and gather their belongings. Inuyasha was one of the last ones off the plane. His stomach rumbled he was really hungry. He hated plane food and always brought some along, but he didn't enough this time.
He wasn't in much of a rush. The next flight didn't leave for another hour.
`Gotta call Kikyou.' He pulled out his cell phone out of his pocket and turned it on, watching impatiently as all the intros passed on the screen. He scrolled through the phonebook and dialed Kikyou's cell phone. It rang twice.
“Hey! You made it I see.” Kikyou happily stated
“Not yet, I'm still in Hawaii”
“Oh, well, you made it half way right?”
“Yeah, it's really beautiful down here.”
“I bet! Take pictures okay.”
“Of course.”
“Well babe I'm working, so call me when you get to Japan, ok.”
“Alright. I love you.”
“I love you too, bye.”
“Bye”
He returned the phone into his back pocket and searched for a place to eat. `I really hope everything stays the same between Kikyou and i. Inuyasha thought to himself while he ordered Mc Donald's. He scoffed it down there and decided that it was time to find his gate. While he walked through the bright airport, he noticed that everyone, including the five year olds. He finally reached his gate, and sat down. He wasn't really all that tired since he slept on the plane during his 8-hour flight here. “Thirty more minutes” he decided that he would relive himself before getting on the plane. When he returned almost all the seats were taken, this was going to be a crowded flight. `That's odd, this flight is gonna be more crowed than the one that came here.' He luckily found an empty seat and took it before anyone else did and took out his headphones. After sitting there for about thirty-five minutes pretending to that he wouldn't be bothered by the annoying `others'. A woman tapped him on the shoulder pointed to the line forming at the gate kiosk. He nodded to thank her, stood and stretched slightly before getting on line.
Everything happened so fast. Before he knew it was in Japan standing outside the airport, with bags surrounding him flagging down a taxi. He finally got one. After dumping his belongings inside the trunk and backseat, he sat upfront and was extremely happy that he spoke Japanese back home while he held a conversation with the driver. After a few minutes of driving, the car came to a stop, and driver said, “Here you are, Tokyo University.” Inuyasha paid him and told himself that this would be the last time he took a taxi, it was incredibly expensive. He walked to the back of the vehicle and began to remove his belongings. They both stood in awe as they stared at the magnificent building.

Inuyasha shot up from his sleeping position drenched in sweat.
He glanced at the clock. “2:37 am” he groaned and attempted to forget his nightmare and return to sleep. `Why hasn't she returned my e-mails?' he asked himself. Staring at the ceiling as if it were the holder of all the answers to his questions and worries. He lay there in the dark, thinking about her…Kikyou. About her smiling and having fun, all without him. She said that she missed him and still loved him. But going for about half a year now, she's only called twice and has responded to his e-mails once. He was going mad with worry. Stretching his hands, palms up, waiting for something to fall into them. Something to ease his mind, and help him sleep. He lowered his hand and turned to his side. Looking at the window, he blinked twice and drifted back to sleep.
The next time he awoke, it was to the sun filtering into his room and the sound of people and birds. He looked at the clock and turned over. It was Saturday. The beginning of spring break. He got up, stretched and pulled on his tank. Opened the door to his room and walked across the narrow hall and kicked his roommates door open.
“Miroku! Miroku! Wake up punk!”
Miroku opened his eyes, saw whom it was groaned and turned over.
“Go away man, its Saturday!”
“Yeah, but SPRING BREAK SATURDAY!”
Miroku shot up. “Really?!”
“Uhh, yeah.”
“Shit! Why didn't you say something earlier!”
“I did.”
Miroku flew out of his bed and ran into the bathroom. Inuyasha shook his head and smiled. He returned to his room and got onto his laptop to check his e-mail. Nothing.
He was beginning to worry. Four months, and not a single word from Kikyou.
“Maybe I'm just overreacting…”
“Yeah, you are.”
Inuyasha almost jumped out of his seat.
“Don't sneak up on me like that!”
“Sorry, but you really shouldn't worry yourself sick. I'm sure she's fine. She probably just really busy.” Miroku assured. He walked into the kitchen and poured a glass of orange juice as he raised his voice so Inuyasha could hear him.
“I know but I cant help it- why are you dressed like that?” Inuyasha started off with a slight yell but lowered when Miroku reentered his room.
“Oh this? Well I don't wanna disappoint all the lovely ladies out there waiting to get their hands on me.” Miroku smiled and urged Inuyasha to get dressed as well, he was hungry. Inuyasha nodded his head and went to take a shower. He put on a light blue shirt and dark denim jeans. When he came out of his room he raised his hands. “There” “good! Now lets go! I'm starved!” they left the small apartment and headed to the train station.
“Lets go to Harajuku” Miroku suggested
“Lets not. The last thing we need is you praying on 16 year old girls.”
“Where do you suggest then”
“Kabukicho?”
“That's no fun during the day stupid!”
“Ok then, since you know so much, why do you pick a place. `Oh great one!'”
“Thanks for the intro. Ok how about we go to….Shibuya!”
“I guess, but where once we get there? I've got it! Center Gai!”
“Err, no. Why do you keep picking all the night places during the day?”
“Fine lets just stay here then!”
“Fine by me, more money in my pocket.”
They turned around and headed back to Tokyo University's campus and decided to walk around there for a while. While they were walking and talking. Still trying to decide where they were going to go that night when they slammed into something that reacted with an “ow”. Inuyasha and Miroku both looked down at the array of paper, books, and crates scattered around them, and then they saw her. She was wearing light blue jeans with rips in the knees, and a light pink t-shirt that read `sexy Hawaiian kitten'. She had shoulder length black hair, and pale creamy skin, with a slight tan.
“Uhhh, sorry…” she looked up at both of them with her big brown eyes apologetically.
“Its alright. We ran into you.” Inuyasha smiled and held out his hand in an offer to help her up. She accepted and was soon on her feet again.
“Hi, I'm Inuyasha. And the tall, pervert over there picking up your stuff is Miroku.”
She giggled, “oh, well I'm Kagome. Kagome Higurashi. As you can probably tell I'm pretty much new here. I'm here from Hawaii.”
“Really, I love exotic women. You speak Japanese very well.” Miroku told her while smiling hungrily as he eyed her up and down. Kagome folded her hands across her chest.
“Uhhh…right.” Kagome returned her attention to Inuyasha “maybe we can go out a sushi bar or something sometime.”
“Yeah sure.” Inuyasha replied. He was filled with over whelming joy, but was trying to hide it, he had a fiancé…
“Good, here's my cell phone number. Call me and well get together sometime.” She smiled and waved as she walked to her apartment complex across the street.
“Wow. I'm jealous.” Miroku piped as he looked at the paper in his hand.
“Yeah…wow.” Inuyasha folded the note and slid it into his back pocket. “So, Miroku, where do you wanna go?”
