Chapter 6

Short Time

Inuyasha walked to Kagome's room and knocked on the door. "Kagome." He called. Silence answered him. He opened the door and looked around her room to find her. He could smell her scent but she had just left the room. There wasn't anywhere but the way he came to get out.

Sniffing around a bit more he realized she climbed off the balcony. He walked over and looked down to see Kagome climbing the vines. Inuyasha jumped out of the window and landed on the ground. "What are you doing?" He asked.

"Don't scare me when I'm this high up!" Kagome shouted. She almost lost her footing and fell.

"What are you doing climbing down from your room anyway?" Inuyasha asked.

"I just wanted to go where no one can find me." Kagome said as she began to climb down again.

"Just jump. I'll catch you."

"What are you, crazy?"

"Just trust me. I'll catch you." Inuyasha said.

Kagome sucked in a breath before closing her eyes and jumping backwards. If he wasn't going to catch her than she didn't want to see herself fall. Instead of falling on the ground and being hurt, she was gently caught.

She opened her eyes and looked at Inuyasha's smirking face. "I told you I'd catch you." He said.

"Thanks." Kagome said. "You can put me down now."

"You want to go somewhere where no one would bother you, right?" Inuyasha asked.

"That's what I planned on doing." Kagome answered.

"Well, I'll take you somewhere. There's a forest around. I saw it before we got here." Inuyasha headed towards the castle walls.

"There are guards all over the castle walls. They won't let you get away especially if I'm with you."

"They won't see us." Inuyasha jumped on the wall and looked around for guards. They were all looking forwards. He jumped off the wall and onto a tree branch. He jumped from tree to tree until they were out of sight.

Once they were in the middle of the forest he stopped and sat down on a tree branch. "Why are we in the middle of the forest?" Kagome asked trying not to look down to see how high they were.

"You wanted to get away from everyone and this is far away from everything." Inuyasha said.

"Thanks." Kagome blushed. She was sitting in Inuyasha's lap and their faces were really close.

Inuyasha smirked and leaned in closer to press his lips against hers. Kagome tried to move out of the way but Inuyasha held her still. She had yet to respond to him, although he never really gave her a chance too.

As soon as their lips touched a spark of pleasure ran through them both. Kagome gasped, opening her mouth to him. Inuyasha slipped his tongue in and rubbed against hers. He smirked as she hesitantly responded. It meant that she felt something for him.

A rumble from Kagome's stomach ruined the nice and peaceful moment. They pulled apart and Kagome blushed. "Gomen, I guess I shouldn't have run out without eating something first." She said.

"Let's go eat then." Inuyasha chuckled. He jumped from the tree and headed back towards the castle.

Inuyasha jumped onto Kagome's balcony and set her down on the ground. He signaled that no one was around and they both walked out of her room. They walked down the hall and stairs and through the dining room doors.

"Kagome-chan! Where have you been?" Sango asked. "Breakfast was an hour ago."

"Gomen, I'll talk to you later about it." Kagome whispered to her. "Right now I need something to eat."

"Hai, I'll get the cooks to prepare something. Inuyasha, would you like something to eat too?" Sango asked.

"If it's not too much trouble." Inuyasha said.

"Shall we finish our conversation later then, Sango?" Miroku asked.

"Hai." Sango said and left to talk to the cook.

Kagome and Inuyasha both sat down at the table across from each other. "When are Sesshomaru and Naraku due back?" Inuyasha asked.

"He said three days. Usually he gets back earlier than he says." Kagome said.

"Does he usually send you a message?" Inuyasha asked.

"Sometimes." Kagome said.

Sango walked in the dining room and sat down. "You have to eat quickly." She said.

"What? Why?" Kagome asked.

"Naraku-sama and Sesshomaru-sama are coming early. The lords are to meet here tonight." Sango explained.

"Kagome-sama, we must prepare you for Naraku's arrival." A servant said.

"I'll finish my meal quickly." Kagome said. The servants nodded and left.

"They're coming back early?" Inuyasha asked. `Dammit.'

The food was finally brought out and set in front of Inuyasha and Kagome. Before Kagome could even take a bite out of her food the servants walked up to her again. "Kagome-sama, we don't have time. You'll have to finish eating later." One of them said. "Please follow us."

Kagome sighed and stood up. She gave an apologetic look to Inuyasha and left with the servants. Inuyasha didn't even look at his food. He'd never get to know Kagome with all the interruptions. He stood up and went to find Miroku.

He found Miroku in the main hallway talking with some servants. "Inuyasha-sama, you and Miroku-sama have a message from Sesshomaru-sama. He wants you to be ready for his arrival." One of them said.

"Yeah he would." Inuyasha said. "I don't see why we have to be there."

"You're mad because you won't get to see Kagome that often. Am I right?" Miroku asked as soon as the servants were gone.

"How could you tell?" Inuyasha replied sarcastically.

"Have you thought of what you were going to do about it?" Miroku asked. "Sesshomaru will be furious once he finds out."

"He won't find out." Inuyasha said.

"What are you going to do when we leave?" Miroku asked. "From what I've seen of your actions you won't just be able to leave her behind. We're only here for a short visit and that's it. What if he becomes suspicious of your actions? She is to be married soon."

"Don't you think I know that? I don't know what to do." Inuyasha said. He growled in frustration and left to go to his room.

Miroku shook his head and also left for his room.

Kagome was ready and waiting for Naraku's arrival. She was dressed up and had been waiting for a while. She was wearing a white kimono with gold stitching. "Kagome-sama, Naraku is here." Someone said from outside the door.

"Hai." Kagome said. She stood up and walked out of her room.

When she reached the stairs she saw Naraku in the hallway. "There you are." Naraku smiled. He walked up to Kagome and hugged her.

"How was your trip?" She asked.

"It was fine. We didn't like being in another lords house so we decided to have them come here. It's been a while since they visited." Naraku said.

"We may finish our business earlier than expected." Sesshomaru said. "It took you long enough to get down here."

"Whatever." Inuyasha mumbled.

"Did you come to an agreement?" Miroku asked.

"No, the lords will be coming here tonight." Naraku said. "I'm afraid we'll have to wait up for them though."

"Naraku-sama, dinner is ready for everyone." A servant announced.

"Shall we go eat then?" Naraku said and led the way to the dining room. He walked with his arm around Kagome's waist.

Inuyasha growled as he watched. "What happened while I was away?" Sesshomaru asked, suspecting something.

"Nothing." Inuyasha said.

"Doesn't seem like nothing." Sesshomaru said. "We'll talk later."

After dinner Kagome left with Sango. "Is something wrong? You've been acting weird." Sango said.

"Well, a lots happened in the last few days." Kagome said.

"You mean with Inuyasha?" Sango asked.

"How did you know?" Kagome asked.

"I'm not stupid. I've known you for a long time." Sango said.

"Do you think anyone has noticed?" Kagome opened the door to the gardens.

"No, I only know because I've known you for so long." Sango said. "Miroku asked me about it this morning."

"What?"

"He told me what's been happening. I asked him if anything was going on and he told me." Sango said. "He saw you guys together. What are you going to do? He's leaving soon. And if Naraku finds out-"

"I know. I explained the consequences to him and he says he doesn't care, and he thinks that we won't get caught. I don't know what to do. Everything happened so fast." Kagome said.

"Maybe you should talk to him." Sango said.

"Maybe." Kagome trailed off.
