Tragic Love Triangle
Chapter 7
Tears
Later in the evening Kagome was called upon by Naraku. She knocked on his door and walked in when he told her to go in. She walked over to his desk and sat down in a chair. "You wanted to see me?" Kagome asked.
"I've noticed you've gotten to know Inuyasha-sama and Miroku-sama well." Naraku said.
"Hai, I had plenty of time to talk to them while you were out. I said I'd keep them entertained and I do not go back on my word." Kagome said.
"Well then I should invite them to the wedding, which by the way is next week." Naraku said.
"Next week?" Kagome asked shocked.
Naraku stood and walked over to Kagome. "I know it's sudden but time is something that shouldn't be wasted. Preparations will begin tomorrow and I'll make the announcement when the lords get here." He grabbed her chin, making her look into his eyes. "Sleep on it and get used to it. I know marriage is important for a woman. You can have the rest of the night to yourself."
Kagome stood and smiled, hiding her real feelings. Naraku smiled back and leaned forward to kiss her. She turned her head so that Naraku would kiss her cheek. "You're stubborn. That will change on our wedding night." Naraku whispered.
Kagome fought the urge to shudder. Instead she smiled and walked out of the room. "I'll see you in the morning then." She said and quickly left the room. She had to get out of there fast or he'd smell the tears.
She ran down the hallways not caring if she bumped into someone. Blindly she made her way to the gardens. It was still too close to everyone. She knew of a hole in the castle wall she could get out from. It led to the forest.
She found the hole shortly after being brought to the castle. It was well hidden by the roses that grew in front of it. The rose's thorns were nothing if it meant a place to escape even if it was for a short while.
Ever since she was brought to the castle she knew she was to marry Naraku. It just never hit her as badly as it did when he set the date. In seven days she would be Naraku's wife. A trophy for all to see and envy. Nothing more than a pretty girl that happened to have the worst of luck.
Kagome looked around making sure that no one was watching as she made her way past the rose's thorns and out of the castle. Quickly she sprinted through the forest, looking for a dark place to sit.
Little did she know that when she was running blindly through the hallways Inuyasha had seen her. He smelled her tears as she ran past him, not acknowledging him at all. He knew it was Naraku. She was coming from that direction and Naraku and her were the only ones that slept down there.
Quietly he made his way down the hallway and followed Kagome. He saw her look around the garden and slip past the roses. He jumped over the wall and saw her crawling through a hole in the castle wall. Jumping from branch to branch he saw her run through the forest.
Deep in the forest where no amount of sunlight could reach she stopped and slumped to the ground, finally releasing her tears. It broke his heart to see her in so much pain. He jumped down from above her and landed behind her.
"Kagome." He said.
Kagome gasped and jumped back scared of who it might be. "Inuyasha." She said as she tried wiping her tears. It was no use she couldn't hold them back.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"It's nothing." Kagome said.
"Something is wrong. You're crying." Inuyasha walked closer to her.
"I'm fine really. I don't want to talk about it." She said.
He understood that she didn't want to talk about it and took her in his arms, offering whatever comfort he could. Kagome melted into his arms and cried harder. It was slowly killing Inuyasha not knowing what was hurting her so badly but he knew he couldn't get her to tell.
A while later Inuyasha realized that he needed to get back to meet the lords when they got there. "Kagome I have to get back." He said.
Kagome let him go and wiped the last of her tears. She didn't feel any better but she no longer felt like crying. "Do you want me to carry you back?" Inuyasha asked.
"No, I'm staying here for a little while longer." She said.
"Won't Naraku be worried that you're gone?" Inuyasha stood.
"No, I won't be seeing him until tomorrow. He'll be busy with the lords." Kagome informed him. "I'll be back by nightfall."
Inuyasha didn't really want to leave her there but it didn't seem like she would move from her spot. Hesitantly he jumped onto the nearest tree and slowly made his way back to the castle, making sure no one would see him.
He jumped onto his balcony and walked out the door of his room. As soon as he shut the door Miroku exited his room. "There you are. I've been looking for you. The lords will be arriving soon." He said.
"Fine let's go." Inuyasha said.
"You might want to change your shirt first. It's wet on the front." Miroku pointed to the wet spot.
Inuyasha looked down and saw wetness from Kagome's tears. He walked back in and quickly changed his shirt. He left the room and walked down the hallway and stairs with Miroku.
"It took you long enough to get here. We've been waiting for you." Sesshomaru glared at Inuyasha.
"Yeah, yeah." Inuyasha said.
The front doors opened and servants rushed through the doors. Soon after the lords appeared. "I must say from what I see you live comfortably. Although I would expect nothing less from a lord." Lord Kito said.
Lord Kito was ruler of the Eastern lands. He had long brown hair that reached past his knees. He had piercing green eyes that was a sign of the forest youkai he was. He could control weeds and vines using them as weapons. He also had many hidden secrets as well. He wore a long graceful robe that was a different shade of green.
"Such a nice welcome also. Usually servants greet me and show me to the meeting room. This is the first time the host has greeted me." Lord Yasashi said.
Lord Yasashi was ruler of the Southern lands. He had short black hair. His eyes were orange. He was a bird youkai. In human form he wore a long orange and yellow cape. In his youkai form he resembled a phoenix. His claws were deadly and could use his feathers as weapons.
"Well I thought it would be rude not to greet you in my own castle." Naraku said. "Shall we make our way to the meeting room?"
The lords nodded and everyone followed Naraku down the hall. The last door at the end of the hallway was the meeting room. Everyone took a seat and waited for Naraku to speak. "As you all know I announced my engagement not too long ago." Naraku began.
Inuyasha's ears perked up and listened carefully as he talked about the engagement.
"I have finally decided on a date. The wedding shall take place next week, in exactly seven days." Naraku finished.
"Where is this bride of yours?" Lord Yasashi asked.
"She is preparing herself. Marriage is important to a woman." Naraku said.
"True." Lord Kito said.
"I would like to invite all of you to the wedding. A formal invitation will be sent as soon as they are prepared." Naraku explained. "I would like to invite Sesshomaru, Inuyasha, and Miroku. Seems my intended has made good friends with you. I'm sure she would enjoy your company for our special day."
"We would be honored to come." Sesshomaru said.
"Shall we get down to business?" Lord Kito asked.
"Inuyasha and Miroku. You may leave if you wish. I'm sure these matter bore you." Sesshomaru said.
"It was nice meeting you, Lord Kito, Lord Yasashi." Miroku said. They nodded in acknowledgement and he and Inuyasha left the room.
Now Inuyasha understood why Kagome had ran crying. He wasn't going to stand for it. He told her he'd take her away and he wasn't going to back down on his word. "I'm leaving the castle." Inuyasha said and took off before Miroku could reply.
"I think I know where he's going." Miroku shook his head. He was going to make one big mess of everything. His thoughts of fighting faded as he spotted Sango walking down the hall. "Oh Sango..."

Inuyasha made it to the forest faster than he thought he would. Rage made him move faster. He dropped down to where Kagome had been earlier. Sure enough she was still in the same spot. Her legs were drawn to her chest and her forehead leaning on her knees.
Without a word he dropped down behind her and hugged her. "I know. Naraku plans on marrying you in seven days." Inuyasha said as he hugged her tighter.
Kagome lifted her head and once again the tears streamed down her face. "I don't want to marry him! I don't love him! I hate him!" She cried hysterically.
"Then leave. Come with me when we go back." Inuyasha said.
Gasping, Kagome turned around to face him. "I can't. Naraku wou-"
"I don't care what he does!" Inuyasha cut her off. "I don't want to see you unhappy. I'll make you happy if you come with me."
Without hesitation Inuyasha leaned forward and pressed his lips against hers in a kiss. Kagome gasped at the suddenness of everything and allowed him to deepen the kiss. Before she could respond Inuyasha pulled back.
"I'll take care of you." Inuyasha said. "I don't care what the consequences are."
"But what about Miroku and Sesshomaru?" Kagome asked. "Won't they be ang-"
"I told you I don't care. Besides Miroku would help. I don't care what Sesshomaru thinks. I've always acted on my own and he knows it." Inuyasha said.
"How? How would we get away?" Kagome asked.
"We'll figure that out before we leave. I'll talk to Miroku and he can think of something. He's always good with making plans." Inuyasha said. "Will you come with me?"
"Hai." Kagome said and leaned forward to kiss him.
Inuyasha smiled and kissed her back, arms wrapping around her waist.

Awwww that's so sweet. I surprise myself all the time with what I write. I just noticed that this seems kind of like the Helen of Troy story line. I always knew how my fic was going to go but I didn't realize how similar the story lines were until now. Hope you like it anyway. Let me know what you think. Sorry the chapter is short but it was a good stopping point. Ja ne.
Thanks to my puppy slave for editing. Thanks to readers and reviewers for sticking with my fic(s) for so long!
