Chapter 8

Escape

The next morning Kagome was woken early to pick out a dress and get fitted for it. After finishing with the servants she was to walk down to Naraku's room and get his approval. Kagome dreaded each and every counter with Naraku. She was always afraid Naraku would find out about her and Inuyasha.

He was supposed to find a way to get her out of there. Inuyasha guessed they were going to leave the next day. If Sesshomaru were gone for too long the kingdom would be in a panic. They would be lost without their ruler.

"Kagome-sama your dress is ready now." A servant informed her.

"Arigato." She said.

"Naraku-sama is waiting in his room for you." Another servant said.

Kagome nodded and walked out of the room. She walked quickly hoping she wouldn't run into anyone. As she was looking down a hallway she bumped into someone and stumbled backwards. She was caught and helped to stand.

"Gomen, I wasn't watching where I was going." Kagome said.

"Kagome?"

Fearful of whom she would see she looked up. Inuyasha. "What are you doing roaming the halls? I thought you were going to the village with Sesshomaru and Miroku." Kagome said.

"I was. Plans changed. I need to talk to you about something important in private." Inuyasha said. He looked her up and down. "You look beautiful."

She was wearing a long white dress. Her hair was up in a bun with locks hanging down all around her face. She was wearing the necklace Naraku had given her the night of the announcement.

Kagome blushed and nodded. "I have to see Naraku though. I'll meet you in the gardens afterwards." She said and quickly left before he could say anything.

She knocked on Naraku's door and opened it when he called her in. "You look beautiful." Naraku said as he walked around her, inspecting every inch of her.

"Arigato." She said.

"Well you won't be able to wear this until next week but you will get to wear something similar tonight. Of course it's not as nice though." Naraku smiled.

"What's going on tonight?" Kagome asked.

"A little farewell get together for Sesshomaru, Inuyasha, and Miroku. They're leaving tonight after we say our goodbyes. They'll be back next week for the wedding though."

"They're leaving?" Kagome tried to cover the gasp that so desperately wanted to escape.

"I know you're sad to see them go but they have their own kingdom to take care of." Naraku rested his hand on her shoulder. "I'll have the dress you'll wear tonight sent to your room in an hour."

"Hai." Kagome said and left the room.

Is that what Inuyasha wanted to talk to her about? He was leaving tonight? He thought they were leaving tomorrow. What were they going to do now? They would never be able to do anything about leaving now. It was too soon to plan anything.

Quickly she ran down the hall to the gardens. She opened the doors and ran inside. Inuyasha was nowhere to be seen. Suddenly someone tapped Kagome on her shoulder. She opened her mouth to scream but it was covered with a hand. "Minumapha?" Kagome muffled.

Inuyasha uncovered her mouth. "What took you so long?" He asked.

"Naraku kept me. You're leaving tonight?" Kagome asked.

"That's what I wanted to tell you but you left before I could." Inuyasha said.

"I see." Kagome's head bent.

"Don't worry. I already have a plan. I've been thinking or something since this morning." Inuyasha lifted her chin. "Tonight we're all supposed to have dinner together. After we eat go to your room and say you don't want to say goodbye. As Naraku is saying goodbye to Sesshomaru I'll be outside your bedroom window. Jump and I'll catch you. After that I'll take you on my horse and we'll leave together."

"What about Sesshomaru?" Kagome said. "Won't he be angry?"

"He won't know until we get there. I always ride ahead of him. Miroku will cover for me while we're leaving." Inuyasha said.

"Are you sure this will work?" Kagome asked.

"Don't worry so much. It won't work if you're nervous. He'll see right through you." Inuyasha said.

Kagome took a deep breath and nodded. Inuyasha leaned down to kiss her but stopped when he heard the garden doors open. They both parted quickly and looked towards the door.

"You'll get in a lot of trouble if you aren't careful." Miroku smiled.

"You bastard. You did that to scare us!" Inuyasha growled.

"I don't know what you're talking about." Miroku said as he walked past Inuyasha. He held Kagome's hands in his own and looked into her eyes. "Don't worry we'll get you out of here."

Kagome blushed at the sudden attention and thanked him. Inuyasha growled with jealousy and hit Miroku on the head. "Will you just leave?" He yelled.

"Jealousy doesn't suit you." Miroku said as he left the gardens. "Although you are a very jealous person."

"Miroku!" Inuyasha yelled.

"I have to go. I need to get ready. Naraku will have my dress ready soon." Kagome said.

"Does he do everything for you?" Inuyasha asked.

"He chooses everything for me." Kagome said. "He has to approve of it."

"I hate him." Inuyasha growled.

"You can hate him without me." Kagome laughed and left him alone.

Later that evening everyone had gathered for dinner except Kagome. "If you don't mind I'll be in my room. I really do hate goodbyes." Kagome said.

"It's alright." Naraku said. "You can go."

Kagome bowed and then left everyone. "Where is Inuyasha?" Naraku asked.

"He's homesick. He likes to ride his horse home so he left early." Sesshomaru said.

"He sends his apologies and says he's looking forward to the wedding next week." Miroku said.

"Tell him thank you for coming." Naraku said.

"We must be going." Sesshomaru said. "I have some business to take care of before the wedding."

Naraku nodded and left after they did.

As soon as Kagome got to her room she locked the door and opened the window. She looked down and saw Inuyasha already standing there. "Go ahead and jump." He said.

Kagome took a deep breath and counted to three. She jumped out the window and kept her eyes closed. She didn't think he'd let her fall but she was scared of falling from such a height. As soon as she landed in Inuyasha's arms she opened her eyes.

Inuyasha smiled arrogantly and gave her a quick peck on the lips before running and jumping on top of the gate. His horse was tied to tree branch at the edge of the forest. He helped Kagome up and got on behind her.

Kagome stared in awe at the castle. It was much nicer than Naraku's. It felt more peaceful whereas Naraku's castle had a feeling of something being hidden, something evil. Inuyasha grabbed her hand and dragged her towards the gate. Sesshomaru and Miroku would be there soon.

Inuyasha let the guards know he was there and jumped over the wall. From the wall he jumped on top of the castle to the other side where his balcony was. He jumped down and let her inside.

His whole room was red. His bed was next to a large window. Above his bed was a katana in an old sheath. It didn't look like it could be used at all. His carpets, sheets, and walls were red.

"I take it you like red." Kagome giggled.

"Like you couldn't tell." Inuyasha said.

"Do you mind if I showered? I didn't bring anything with me though." Kagome sighed.

"I'll get you something. The bath is through that room." Inuyasha pointed to a door on the other side of his bed. "I'll be right back."

Kagome nodded and walked into the bathroom. Inuyasha locked the door to his room as he left and walked down the hall to Kaede's room. She was the healer of the castle and would more than likely have clothes to fit Kagome, at least for a short time. He could buy some as soon as he talked to Sesshomaru.

"Who is it?" An elderly woman asked when Inuyasha knocked on the door.

"It's me Kaede-baba open the door." Inuyasha said rudely.

"You think you'd treat me with respect." Kaede said as she opened the door. "What do you need?"

"I need women's clothing. Don't ask for what. You'll find out later." Inuyasha said.

"What size?" Kaede asked.

"Someone small." Inuyasha lifted his hand to show her height.

"I have some old kimonos that might work." Kaede said. "But you must promise to tell me what this is for."

"I will." Inuyasha said.

Kaede left the doorway for a second and Inuyasha could hear her rummaging through some trunks. She came back with a light pink kimono. "This is all I have." Kaede handed him the clothes.

"It'll do for now." Inuyasha said and left without another word.

When he got back to the room Kagome was still in the bathroom. "Kagome I have your clothes." Inuyasha said.

"Hai." Kagome stepped out of the tub and dried herself off. She opened the door enough so she could hold out her hand and grab it. She thanked him as soon as they were placed in her hand.

Inuyasha went and sat on his bed. He laid down on his back as he waited for her to change. In a couple of minutes Kagome walked out with damp hair and a light pink kimono that was a little too big for her.

"It's a little big." Inuyasha said. "I'll get you something that fits later."

"I'm fine in this." Kagome said.

"You're still worrying aren't you?" Inuyasha asked. He could see it through her eyes.

"I can't help it. It seems like I'm going to cause you a lot of trouble." Kagome said sadly. "Maybe I shouldn't have went with you..."

Inuyasha stood and walked up to her. He kissed her hard. "Don't say that!" He snapped. "Don't worry about it. I don't care if there is trouble."

"Inuyasha-sama, Sesshomaru-sama has arrived at the castle." Someone said from outside the door.

"I'll be back. Don't leave this room and don't answer for anyone." Inuyasha warned.

"Hai." Kagome said.

Inuyasha smiled at her before leaving the room.

I just got back from camping! It was fun but it wasn't much of a camping trip. My camping trips have video games and movies. I watched The Matrix, Oceans Eleven, Cardcaptor Sakura: The Sealed Card, and a little bit of Cowboy Bebop. We played Resident Evil and we all screamed but it was fun. Anyways hope you like this chapter. I wrote it in like an hour. Let me know what you think. Ja ne.

Ceaseless Cloudy Days- I don't know if Kikyo will be in this fic. I haven't decided yet.
