Chapter 15

The Morning After

Kagome gasped when she heard those words come out of Inuyasha's mouth. She hadn't ever expected to hear it from anyone. It meant so much to her hearing them come from him. For the longest time she felt something for him and now that he brought it out to the open.

"I love you too." Kagome replied.

A weight had been lifted off of Inuyasha's shoulders. Three words had never meant so much to him until now. He had been given something so precious and he wasn't going to let anyone take it from him.

Inuyasha lazily kissed the back of Kagome's neck. Right now nothing mattered. It was as if time had stopped just for them. Within minutes they were both asleep in each other's arms.

The next morning Kagome woke up. The sun was in her face and rolling over didn't help. She then noticed it was colder than it usually was when she woke up. She sat up quickly when she realized what had taken place. A blush quickly surfaced and she covered herself with the blanket.

She winced in pain as she stood out of the bed. As much as she hated to leave Inuyasha lying on the bed with no blanket to cover him she really wanted to put her sleeping yukata on. Before she could move any further she was swung back onto the bed. She shrieked as she fought to keep the blanket over her breasts.

"What are you doing?" Inuyasha asked in sleepy voice.

"I was going to change." Kagome said.

"Stay in bed." Inuyasha pulled the blanket off of her and then pulled her closer. He then wrapped the blanket around them and quickly fell back asleep.

Kagome sighed and wondered how he could lie in bed naked with her and act like it was the most natural thing in the world. Her face was still flushed but the warmth did seem inviting... Making up her mind she closed her eyes and went back to sleep.

Inuyasha and Kagome were both sleeping peacefully when the door slammed open. Miroku ran through the room and over to the bed expecting his friend to be awake. "Inuyasha we have so- well what's going on here?" Miroku asked lecherously.

Kagome was laying on her stomach with the blanket covering only her lower half, which gave the perverted monk a great view of her back. Inuyasha sat up and growled dangerously at Miroku. He grabbed any hard object nearby and threw it at his head. He quickly covered Kagome's back and made sure his essentials were also covered.

"What the fuck is so important that you would barge in like that?" Inuyasha yelled.

Miroku was surprised Kagome slept through all the noise but then again it seemed like they had a busy night. Ignoring that he turned to look at Inuyasha. "We have a problem." He said.

"What is it?" Inuyasha asked.

"I don't think this matter should be talked in front of Kagome and when you aren't dressed." Miroku did his best not to last.

"Your dead monk!" Inuyasha yelled. He stopped when Kagome rolled over and moaned. Inuyasha covered Kagome's body with his and yelled at Miroku. "I'll meet you in the library."

"Hai." Miroku laughed and walked out of the room.

Inuyasha wrapped the blanket around Kagome again before getting up to get dressed. He quickly threw on his red pants and inner haori. He didn't even bother to tie it together. With one last glance at Kagome he was out the door and on his way to the library.

When he opened the door he found Sesshomaru sitting at the desk and Miroku in a chair in front of the desk. Inuyasha walked over and sat down in the unoccupied chair. Sesshomaru gave him a quick look and sighed. "Can't you dress decent?" He asked.

"Not when Miroku runs into my room like a maniac." Inuyasha said.

"Seems as if I interrupted something." Miroku smiled.

"Congratulations on your mating." Sesshomaru said. "As much as I hate to ruin it you need to know. A letter was sent from Naraku. He has declared war with us now. He wants Kagome and he won't stop until he has her."

"Dammit!" Inuyasha growled as he slammed his fist on the table. "I won't give her up! I don't want a war to start because of this."

"The war is inevitable. Kagome was just a pawn that made him put his plan into action sooner." Sesshomaru said. "I was prepared for this. We have allies with us so it's no matter. Naraku is alone in this war and we have help if needed."

"I'm going back to Kagome. Keep me updated on this. Leave Kagome out of it. She'll only blame herself." Inuyasha said before leaving. He walked back to his room to find Kagome just getting up.

She sat up with the sheet wrapped around her and smiled at him. "Where did you go?" She asked.

"Yelled at Miroku for harassing me. He just ran into the room and then did his lecherous act." Inuyasha said as he sat down on the bed.

"He what?" Kagome asked, as her faced turned red.

"Don't worry he didn't see anything. I made sure of that." Inuyasha growled.

Kagome was speechless. Miroku knew what they did and almost ran in and saw her naked. She wasn't used to this yet and she sure as hell didn't want Miroku running in on them. She would've thought about it more if her stomach hadn't growled.

"Hungry?" Inuyasha chuckled lightly.

"Shut up." Kagome hit him lightly on the shoulder. She held the sheet in place as she sat up to get dressed. Once again she shrieked when Inuyasha pulled her back onto the bed. "Will you quit that?"

Inuyasha climbed on top of her and held her arms above her head so she couldn't hit him. "I like doing that. Quit being so modest. Your beautiful." Inuyasha nipped her neck and helped her up. "Get changed and we'll go eat."

"What's wrong with you?" Inuyasha asked as they walked down the hall to the dining room.

"Nothing." Kagome said with a red face.

"It's not like I haven't seen anything before." Inuyasha whispered in her ear.

"Inuyasha!" Kagome shouted. When she was changing Inuyasha refused to leave the room or let her leave to change. She quickly changed into a light blue yukata before rushing out of the room embarrassed.

"What? It's true." Inuyasha smirked. He opened the dining room door and walked in. Everyone was eating breakfast too.

"Well look who's decided to join us." Miroku smiled lecherously as they sat down.

"What are you talking about?" Inuyasha asked.

"I didn't expect to see you at all after certain activities..." Miroku trailed off letting it sink into everyone's mind.

"You did what?" Sango shouted across the table.

"They mated?" Rin asked Sesshomaru.

"Last night." Sesshomaru said without looking up from his breakfast.

"Seems like there's only one couple left then." Inuyasha smiled. Kagome sat quietly eating her food. She was too embarrassed to look anyone in the eyes.

Everyone looked at both Sango and Miroku. Sango blushed and picked at the food on her plate. "Well it's none of your business but I'll have you kno-" Miroku was interrupted when Sango hit him on the head and shoved him out of his chair.

"Hentai!" She shouted and exited the room.

"Sango! I was only kidding!" Miroku shouted as he chased after her.

"They'll never get it together." Rin shook her head. "Kagome we should go for a walk later."

"No one is allowed outside the castle gates." Sesshomaru said.

"Why is something wrong?" Rin asked.

"No, just some routine inspections. I don't want any problems." Sesshomaru explained. He hated to lie to Rin but it was only for Kagome's sake. He'd tell her the truth once they got back into their room.

"Well we'll have to find something else to do then." Rin said. She knew Sesshomaru was lying to her. They'd never been held inside the castle without some kind of threat. She trusted her mate and would let him talk to her later. It was obvious he didn't want it known publicly.

"I'm sure Inuyasha and Kagome want to spend some alone time together. You can see her later. They are newly mated after all." Sesshomaru said.

Kagome couldn't help but blush. Did everyone know about this now? She'd have to ask Inuyasha some questions later. She quickly finished her meal and waited for Inuyasha to announce that they wanted to leave.

As if he read her mind he nodded to her and stood up. "Well we're done with our meal." He said. He grabbed Kagome's hand and led her back towards their room.

"So how is it that everyone knows about us?" Kagome asked.

"Youkai can smell the mating. It's a way of knowing that you're claimed. The mark is the other way. It will stay permanent on your shoulder as long as I'm alive." Inuyasha said. "I told you mating is forever."

"I knew that." Kagome said. She still wanted to hurt Miroku for barging into their room. "Are you okay? It looks like something is bothering you."

"I'm fine. Just pissed off at Miroku. That bastard almost saw you naked." Inuyasha shook his fist. "Remind me to lock the door next time."

Kagome blushed and wrapped an arm around herself. She wondered how he could act so casually about everything. Whenever something of that sort was brought up she would blush or fidget.

Inuyasha on the other hand was surprised that she could still blush. After all they had been through she was still shy and embarrassed. He didn't mind. She still looked so innocent even after anything. It was something he didn't want to change in her.

"Nothing else should change mating wise. You may feel a stronger connection towards me but that's all. You'll probably be able to sense me before I come but that could also be your miko powers." Inuyasha explained.

"I heard a rumor that my miko powers won't work if I mated a youkai." Kagome said.

"You're not sure and you risked it anyway?" Inuyasha asked.

"It wouldn't have mattered to me." Kagome blushed and looked away.

"We'll definitely have to talk to Kaede-baba." Inuyasha shook his head for not introducing them sooner. She did know some information about the jewel.

"Kaede-sama?" Kagome repeated.

"She's the castle healer and miko. She's pretty old though." Inuyasha said. "She's helped out a lot. I wonder if there's a way to find out whether or not your powers still work."

Kagome stopped walking and raised her hand. She flexed her hand muscles and a blue light covered her hand. "Seems to still be working." Kagome said.

Inuyasha looked at her eyes wide. "I thought your powers had just awakened." He said.

"No, I just make sure no one can sense it. I know how to use my powers. I got bored a lot when Naraku left on business trips." Kagome said.

"How come you never told me?" Inuyasha asked.

"I don't know. Guess I've kept it hidden for so long I forgot." Kagome said. "Naraku, Kagura, and Kanna were the only ones that knew about it."

"I couldn't sense it for a while from you either." Inuyasha grabbed her hand and began walking again.

"I probably let my guard down." Kagome shrugged.

Inuyasha shook his head. There was still so much he didn't know about her.

I'm sorry this is kind of short. I kind of forgot how the story went with all my other fics going on. I'll have to read it over and catch up. I thought that this was a good stopping point. Hope you like it. Let me know what you think. Ja ne.
