Chapter 15 Meditation

The next day was quiet. Kagome told Miroku and Sango about her past. The complete story this time. Inuyasha had convinced her that it would be for the best if they knew the whole story so they could know what to expect if anything were to happen.

"I'm sorry I lied to you guys. I shouldn't have hidden my past for you." She told Sango and Miroku. The two smiled at her.

"It's okay Kagome! That's a hard thing to tell someone." Sango said.

"I'm just glad that you trust us enough to tell us now!" Miroku added happily. Kagome smiled back.

Inuyasha was holding Kagome's hand and squeezed it lightly. She looked at him and he grinned at her. She did the same. Kirara meowed and stretched on Sango's lap. She meowed again and hopped down to the floor wiggling towards Sango. Sango giggled and stood. Miroku followed her lead.

"Kirara wants some exercise! We will be back shortly!" Sango said cheerfully as she pranced out the door with Kirara and Miroku.

Inuyasha leaned in close to her ear. "Hey." He whispered. Kagome had chills run down her spine. "I wanna kiss you." He continued. He kissed the exposed skin on her neck. His kisses left a tingling sensation across the skin he touched. Kagome quickly turned to Kaede who had begun knitting in a chair across the room.

"Kaede, I think Inuyasha and I are going to retire for a nap, k?" Kagome said as she stood and dragged Inuyasha behind her. Kaede blinked in surprise by her sudden outburst. Kagome rushed into her bedroom and through Inuyasha inside before slamming the door shut. She turned to Inuyasha who stood up and looked at her.

Kagome flung herself into his arms. She kissed his lips with hers. He gladly kissed her back. Their lips moved in motion with one another's. Inuyasha lifted Kagome in his arms and carried her to her bed. He sat down and put Kagome on his lap. Never stopping their stream of kisses. Kagome wrapped her arms around his neck and he wrapped his around her waist.

Their kisses continued slower now. Kagome pulled back and looked into Inuyasha's eyes. She couldn't begin to explain how marvelous his golden gaze felt in her own. She felt so safe with him. She would never have to be alone again.

Inuyasha felt Kagome's warm touch on his skin and her fingers running through his hair. He would always protect her. She was all he thought about. All he dreamed about. All he ever wanted. He would stay by her side until she didn't want him anymore. And he would still watch over her if that day came.

Kagome tightened her grip on Inuyasha's hair, scared he would disappear from underneath her. Inuyasha felt the tinge of fear Kagome's aura put off and hugged her to him as he placed his nose in the crook of her neck.

"I'm not going anywhere." He whispered. Kagome's breath caught in her throat. She pulled her hands back, wiggling her way down so she could rest her head on his chest. "You can trust me. I will protect you with all my might." He told her softly. Kagome smiled and hugged her favorite hanyou close to herself.

"Thank you, Inuyasha." She said into his kimono. He grinned.

The two enjoyed just sittings in each others arms for a while before Inuyasha heard the sounds of Sango and Miroku's returning to the house. He kissed Kagome's forehead before pulling her back to look in her face.

"Our friends are back." He told her. She sighed heavily in sarcasm.

"Alright. I guess we should go then." She said with a grin. Her joking apparent. She stood off of Inuyasha's lap and he followed suit.

The exited their temporary room and re-entered the living room where Kaede still sat with her knitting in her lap. She greeted them with a smile.

"Hello again." She said sweetly. Kagome smiled back as she and Inuyasha sat down in their spot on the love seat from a little earlier.

Only moments later, their friends also re-entered the house. They both looked tired from the exercise with swear droplets forming on their foreheads. She giggled softly.

"Looks like Kirara gave you two a run for your money!" Kagome teased the couple. They both laughed in response. Inuyasha put his arm around her shoulder and smiled when she looked over to him. Kaede decided it was time for her to speak up.

"Kagome, dear, do ye remember the meditation exercises I taught ye all those years ago to help ye think as well as clear ye mind?" Kaede asked the young miko. Kagome nodded, her face serious again.

"I think ye need to get ye mind into a better state. Ye were surprised by the presence of Koga yesterday, and ye allowed him to get into ye head and rattle ye heart." The elder stated. Kagome cringed at the sound of hearing Koga's name. She looked to the ground, ashamed.

"Yes Kaede." Kagome said before standing to exit the house. Inuyasha prepared to stand and go with her, but she put out a hand and shook her head. Telling him 'no'. Kagome exited the house and walked to her old safe spot from her youth where she preformed her meditations.

Inuyasha turned quickly to Kaede, almost in anger. "Why can't I go with her?! What if she gets ambushed or something?! She will be totally helpless!" He exclaimed. He stood and spun to the door to follow her anyways.

"Sit down Inuyasha!" Kaede firmly commanded. He just turned his head towards her to indicate he was listening. "She needs to be completely free of distractions! And ye are her biggest one!"

Inuyasha flattened his ears to his skull. The scolds of the elder woman hurt. She was right. He reluctantly sat back down. Kaede relaxed once again.

"Kagome is in no danger. When she goes into a meditative state, she in extremely aware of her surroundings and creates a weak barrier to mask her scent. She also lowers the power of her aura till it is virtually non-existent. No one can detect her whereabouts if they tried." Kaede explained calmly.

Inuyasha relaxed slightly, but he didn't like not knowing where Kagome was. He sighed. He stood once more. Kaede looked at him confused. He waved her off. "I'm just going to lie down." He said.

He entered Kagome's old bedroom and plopped down in the bed. He took in her sweet scent that resided all around him. He wished so badly that he could feel her calming aura as well. He sighed. Then he thought of an idea. Maybe he could try meditating himself. Maybe that way he could think he was feeling her presence even if she wasn't really there with him.

He sat up on the bed and crossed his legs beneath himself. He took in a deep breath as he closed his eyes and exhaled. He continued his deep breathing as he focused his mind on Kagome. Everything about her. He put a mental image of her fixed in his mind. He pictured her childish behavior when they had first reached this house. She was so carefree. He tried to force her scent to come to his nostrils. The sound of her laugh. The warmth of her skin as her finger tips crossed his. The only thought in his mind was Kagome.

Somewhere in the corner of his mind, he saw a pale pink light appear. He pushed towards the light. It grew brighter and brighter. He felt right on top of the light. It suddenly burst. He saw images of Kagome and Koga dancing together and seeming to be having a good time. But then it quickly turned from happy to horror. The wolf grabbing her from behind, Kagome exhausted from the purification, then her dreadful walk home, and finding her parents. He couldn't bare to watched her as she mourned.

The scene suddenly changed. He saw Kagome. She was standing across from Koga. She was confronting him. He growled low. Koga disappeared as Kagome jumped. She turned and saw Inuyasha frozen.

He didn't know what to do. Was she mad? Was it really her? Or was this just an image he created in his mind?

Kagome just softly smiled at him as she took a step forward. "You scared me, Inuyasha. What are you doing here?" She asked sweetly. He didn't know what to say. He wanted to find something to respond but couldn't. She took a few more steps forwards. She hugged his torso, placing her head on his chest. He eagerly hugged her back.

"It's weird. None of my other visions have ever felt warm to my touch. They're always cold." She said, looking up at him questioningly. He hugged her so she couldn't look him in the face anymore. "Inuyasha, are you meditating too?" She asked in curiosity. He nodded sheepishly into her shoulder. Kagome grinned, burying her face into his kimono. "It's alright, you know." She whispered.

His ears perked. Kagome giggled and slightly pushed him back so she could look at his cute face. She stretched onto her tip toes and kissed him sweetly. He closed his eyes and obliged her kiss with his own. They finally separated after a few moments. She smiled up at him and he returned one to her.

"I need to concentrate now, Inuyasha." She told him sweetly. He lost his smile.

"Why? I'm not bothering you. Can't I just sit back and watch? I don't like not knowing where you are." He admitted. Kagome's heart melted. Her smile never faded.

"I guess you can stay a few more minutes. But then you have to go back and wait for me, ok?" She told him. He nodded. She instructed him to sit down a few feet from her. Inuyasha did as she said. He watched as she concentrated once more.

The form of Koga reappeared. She stared at the illusion. After a few moments, however, the wolf demon disappeared once again and Kagome was on her knees with tears filling her eyes. Fear stricken from the sight of the man once standing before her.

Inuyasha jumped to his feet and was at her side in a second. He felt so helpless. He couldn't protect her from herself. He placed his hands on either of her shoulders to help support her. She looked up at him, the moisture from her eyes spilling over her lids.

"You don't have to face this alone. I will always be beside you." He told her softly. It was like a lightbulb went off in her head. A revelation that lifted up her hopes. She whipped her eyes and nodded with a smile. Inuyasha helped her stand and held her hand as the wolf appeared once more. Now there were more. Koga's followers.

Inuyasha waited to see what would happen. Kagome squeezed his hand as she began to feel her anxiety build once more. He lightly squeezed it back to let her know she was there and he wasn't going anywhere. She took a deep breath. When she finally released, some of the wolves began to proceed forward. Inuyasha stepped slightly forward to protect Kagome.

Kagome grinned as she knew he would always defend her. She released his hand and wrapped her arms around his torso from behind him where she stood. Inuyasha was shocked. He felt a warm pulse envelop them. A glowing pink oval surrounded them. The wolves lunged at them and were vaporized by the purification barrier. 'And I'll protect him.' She thought to herself.

When all of the followers had vanished, Koga was all that remained. Kagome looked at his scowling face and released Inuyasha as she stepped out from behind him. He took note that fear never once crossed her feature. She held his hand again as she started to speak.

"You no longer have any hold on me. I will not allow you to affect my emotions from this point on. I am strong. And I'm not alone anymore. I have Inuyasha at my side. And my friends. I have grown up in fear of you. You will pay for the sins you have committed against my family. Against me! And it stops now! I am not afraid of you! " She exclaimed. They saw as the opposing male crumbled to his knees in defeat. Kagome smiled wide. She looked up to Inuyasha. He looked at her with a grin.

"I've never been able to overcome my fear like that before!" She said happily. She hugged herself to Inuyasha's chest. "It's because you're with me. Thank you."

"Do anything to stand by you forever." He told her in reply. Kagome couldn't help but smile more and squeeze him tighter with all the overwhelming joy bubbling inside her. He buried his nose in her raven black hair as he hugged her back. Neither of them know how long they stayed there.

Inuyasha suddenly felt a sharp tug on his body. Tugging him away from Kagome. He growled. Kagome looked up and saw his struggle. Worry crossed her features.

"Inuyasha! Where did you leave your body?" She asked franticly.

"It's at the house! In your bedroom! What's going on?" He asked urgently. The pull was so strong now that he was only able to hold onto her hand.

"You have to go back! Something might be wrong! Your body is vulnerable when you're meditating! Go! I'll be right there!" She told him as she released his hand.

He didn't want her to separate from him. Soon he couldn't see her anymore. He gave in to the pull and ran in the direction it was urging him to go. He saw a blue light ahead. It was pulsing. He ran as fast as he could towards the light. He finally reached it and it burst like when he had reached Kagome.

He shook his head to wake himself up. When he looked up, he jumped from who was standing over him.
