Welcome to the first official chapter. My apologies on the prologue being so short, I shall try to make it up to you with this chapter.

~~__~~ True Love- Chapter 1 ~~__~~

He came out from behind the tree and stood before here. As he was about to say something he was stopped.

“Sesshoumaru?” He was surprised by the fact that she knew it was him, without looking up. `She must be more powerful than I had previously thought. Or she recognized my jyaki, but that is impossible, as this Sesshoumaru has hidden both his jyaki and scent. So then how did she know it was me?'

==

"Why are you alone wench, and where is the half-breed? Surely he wouldn't leave his bitch to wander without him." He inwardly smirked. `She smells good… What the Hell!!!! She does NOT smell good!!!'

He was surprised when she looked up and couldn't see the life that was usually within her eyes. She looked dull, almost dead.

==

"I am not his, and if you want him then you can find him yourself." As she stood and started to walk away, he couldn't fight the growl that rose within his chest. Before he could stop himself, he flew across the river and pinned her to a tree. He didn't smell the fear that she had like the first time they had met.

“Why do you not fear me? Do you wish to die?” he asked, curious as to why she didn't exude the fear that she normally did from him.

==

“I do not fear you because I no longer wish to live.” She looked straight into his eyes as she said this. What he saw there made him shudder. He saw pain, sorrow, loneliness, and acceptance; but definitely no fear.

`What did that idiotic half-breed to do her that made her loose her will to live? Every encounter this Sesshoumaru has had with her, she has always showed a strong will to live and a loyalty to him that is hard to find.'

`Why is he staring at me like that? Like I'm some book that he can read, or like he is trying to read my soul.' She was startled so much by his change of attitude that she hadn't noticed that he had let her go.

“Go… Go back to your camp. Do not walk around in the forest after dark alone. I will not fight you or the half-breed tonight.” He was confused as to why he cared but he did. He couldn't explain the feeling but it was kind of like what he felt for Rin but different.

She had started to walk back to camp the way that she had come. She knew he was following her, but she didn't care. She just kept walking deep in thought. When she got back to camp Shippo jumped into her arm. She hugged him and put on a smile to make him happy.

“Where were you wench, and why do you smell of my half-brother?” Inuyasha practically screamed at her.

==

“None of your business.” Was her reply to his inquiries. That only served to piss him off even more.

==

”IT IS MY BUSINESS!!!” He screamed at her. He was angry beyond belief! `How could she do this to me? After all I have done for the worthless wench; she goes gallivanting at night with my second worst enemy!'

==

`Oh yea I made him severely mad… good!' She had always thought that she was just a shard detector to him. However, he had proved it to be true in their last fight.

==

*Flashback*

“You useless bitch! Your nothing compared to Kikyo, and you never will be! She wouldn't have shattered the jewel in the first place, and she definitely wouldn't need to go home every other day! You're nothing but a pale imitation of the original; you're not even a good shard detector. That's all you'll ever be just a stupid shard detector!' Inuyasha yelled at her after a skirmish with Naraku, not a puppet but the half demon himself!

The words that he just said hurt more than anything Naraku could and possibly would do to her. He knew he shouldn't have said it by the way his ears drooped and the guilty look that came upon his face. He was surprised when he didn't immediately get slammed into the ground, but when he looked up, he was even more ashamed that he could ever have thought possible. He saw her pain, sorrow, and betrayal that she felt at his words.

*end Flashback*

“Why do you care anyway, hmm? I thought I was just a Tama detector to you. Oh and by the way I will be returning home for a few months. You will not follow me, nor will you try to drag me back here. I won't be at my house and the well will be sealed to you.” She then turned her head to Shippo. “Shippo stay with Sango and Miroku. Be good until I get back, and I'll bring you a really nice gift!”

“Okay I will, but why are you leave? Does it have anything to do with what Inu-baka said?” He asked giving her the most innocent look he could muster through his tears.

==

“Yes Shippo it does. I am leaving so that I may train to become stronger, and no longer have to rely on Inuyasha.” She said looking down at her kit.

==

“Like hell you are!!! Don't I get a say in this? You're not going anywhere!!! GOT IT!?!” Stated the raging inu-hanyou as he made his way over to the girl who came from the future.

==

“No.” She stated still not looking at him.

“No?... No?... Look at me when I speak to you! Damn it, you're not going to go anywhere! We have shards to finish finding!” He was pissed. She was leaving for whatever reason while they still have a mission to finish. He was beyond pissed!

Kagome handed Shippo to the silent Sango, and a stunned monk. She picked up her bag, and headed for the well. Sango sent Kirara to escort her friend whom she considered a sister.

As she arrived at the well there was someone there that was very unwelcome. “Kikyo.” She gazed coolly at the undead priestess in front of her.

“So I see that you have finally figured out that you are no longer welcome here my reincarnation. What do you plan to do, hmmm? Cry?” You could hear the sarcasm dripping off of her words.

“No I will not cry. However, I will return, eventually, and when I do I challenge you. Not for Inuyasha, You can have him. No I challenge you for the soul that is shared between us.” With that said Kagome jumped into the well not to be seen for the next six months.

He was sitting in his garden, he had been watching his half-brothers group for the last six months, and still there was no sign of her. He was going to use her as a bargaining chip to get Tetsusaiga. He was there when Inuyasha had brought the undead one into the group.

He had to admit that watching the kitsune pup stay away from her as if she had the plague had been amusing. It was funny to watch as she tried to comfort the crying kit only to have him run away from her and into the arms of the demon exterminator, also watching the taija hit the monk on the head with her oversized boomerang for feeling her up.

He had followed them around wondering what had happened to the one that smelled of vanilla and cherry blossoms. He could not remember her name but he knew it began with a k. “K…Ka… Ka-something… Wait, why should I, Sesshoumaru need to know the name of a filthy ningen!' He thought to himself. He was brought out of his thoughts when Rin ran up to him and hugged his knees.

“Sesshoumaru-sama, Rin picked you some flowers!” Rin gave him a big smile; “Rin wants to know if Sesshoumaru-sama will find Rin a new playmate soon. Jaken is no fun, he always yells at me, and he smells funny!” Rin pouted but soon that turned into giggles at the look that Sesshoumaru gave her.

“Rin stay here with Jaken. I have to go patrolling I shall return soon.” Sesshoumaru stated coolly, but if you looked into his eyes you could see a fatherly kind of love there.

As Kagome came back through the well to the feudal era of Japan, she masked her scent, and searched the area looking for Inuyasha's jyaki. `Good, he isn't here. However, Shippo and the others are, I will visit them tonight.' With that thought in mind, she went to bathe at the nearest hot spring. While bathing, she thought about the past six months.

*Flashback*

As she climbed out of the well she was greeted with the sight of her mother sweeping the shrine steps. “Hello Kagome, How long will you be here? Should I start preparing supplies for your next trip to the feudal era?”

“Hello Okaa-san, I will be staying here for a few months. I would like to have someone train me on how to use my miko powers, as well as in combat. I do not wish to travel with Inuyasha anymore. I want to be able to protect myself and not hide behind that pig-headed, dog eared jerk!” She said with a vehemence that made her mother look at her.

“Well, I can see if my friend is available to teach you. She is a master of martial arts of all forms. However, she is not ningen, she is Inu-Youkai. I hope that you do not mind. I have told her about you and your trips to the past. She is very anxious to meet you.”

==

“Thank you Okaa-san. Where is Souta and Ojii-chan? I haven't seen them for a while.” Kagome said while looking around.

==

“They are somewhere, although I haven't seen them for a couple of hours. I hope that they didn't get into anything to bad.” Okaa-san said as she started to look around as well.

*Flashback 2 of 3*

As she sank into the hot tub Kagome released a sigh of contentment. She had been here for five and a half months, and training non-stop. Once of month she visited her family and told them that she was all right and doing well with her training, she even showed them some of what she had learned.

She could now purify her swords, which she used for close range combat; she had also learned how to purify most of her body. She also learned how to move and act like a Youkai does. She was faster than Inuyasha, for this she was positive. She just did not know how she knew, nevertheless, she knew. However, she was not as fast as Sesshoumaru.

==

Her sensei, Itoki, had taught her how to control her power, which she could use to summon a bow and arrow. When she did the bow and arrows were made of tungsten. The tips of the arrows were diamonds. She no longer had to carry her quiver or bow since it would only slow her down, but why carry them when she could summon them?

She decided to get out of the hot tub before she turned into a prune. She only had a few minutes before they summoned her for dinner anyway.

*End Flashback 2 of 3 and begin Flashback 3 of 3*

As she sat at the table she knew that her sensei had something to say. When no one had come to wake her up this morning she had gotten suspicious, even though she was used to the schedule that her master had set.

“Kagome, I have a gift for you.” Itoki smiled. “I'd like to give you these two swords. They were made of my fangs some time ago, and shall come in handy in many dire situations.”

==

“Domo Arigato Gozaimasu, but why give these to me now? After the training?” Kagome asked with confusion clouding her voice.

==

“Because you have finished training my child, you must now go back to the feudal era. Moreover, finish what you have started. Also do not let that half-breed get on your nerves, you are more than he is or ever will be! Oh, and promise me when you return to come and visit. I am sure you will know where to find me.” Itoki smiled.

==

“I promise I will visit when I return, if I return.” Kagome grimaced at the thought that she might very well die. At least she had gotten her will to live back. “Thank you for everything that you have taught me.”

*End of all flashbacks… for now…*

She sighed, she was starting to prune. `I had better get out before I literally become a human prune, well more so than I already am turning into.' She giggled at the thought and got dressed. `I had better visit the others. I wonder how they have done since I have been gone. It seems as though Inuyasha still hasn't returned.'
