"She is not the only one. Yume and Umi, both of them have their own stories. All of them have scars on their heart and soul."

"Think twice about it. Just because they have the most power, you deem them to be happier than the others. But once you know the story behind them, do you envy them or do you sympathize them?"

Chapter 22: the beginning or the end?

Sora left the others to ponder over what she just said.

"I think I need to apologize to her." Lord Raiha announced.

"My dear, I think all of us own her an apology."

All of them nodded to what she said and left to find Kimiko. They found her asleep in her room. They decided to leave her alone when they heard her scream in the room. They rushed to the room, to find her out of bed and nowhere in sight. A portal opened on the wall.

Kurama and Hiei wasted no time, rushing into the portal before it closes. The Yu Yu gang and Shikon gang found themselves in a warehouse. Kimiko was standing in front of something. They stepped up beside her.

"That's the spear of white." Botan gasped out.

"And it is already half unsealed…." Reaching out a hand to touch the spear. She stopped a moment, drawing in a deep breathe and grabbed hold of it. Pulling it out of the ground. Electric like energy shot through her body, she bit her lips from crying out. Tolerating the pain.

The glow from her hand engulfed the spear. Finally the spear became still. Kimiko collapsed to the ground, the spear lying beside her, pure. Light retreating back to its form.

"Kimiko Sama, how nice of you to join us." two figures appeared, chanting a spell, the spear started to rose from the ground.

"Not in your lifetime." Raising her own hand, she stopped the spear from levitating to them. One of them took out a sword and charged towards her. The others rushed to stop the attack, but were blocked by a barrier.

"Baka!" with a wave of her other hand, she slammed the one with the sword down to the ground. Adding a spell to her wave, she sealed his shadow, making him immobile. Concentrating on the spear in front of her, she was just about to grasp it when her shadow formed spikes to attack her.

Jumping away from the attack, allowing the spear to be taken by the other. The other laughed victoriously.

"Idiot!" with her elemental power, she controlled his blood flows, tearing him into shreds from the inside. Kimiko was now breathing heavily. Something was not right.

Landing her hands on the spear, a burst of dark power blew her off.

"What?" Yume emerged from the shadows. He was now in his sorceress form, with black streaks through his purple hair. His eyes were golden with violent. He bears the mark of Shadow, a cross on his forehead, outlined with blood red.

He threw a fist towards Kimiko, as Kimiko dodged the fist. He grabbed hold of the spear. But was shocked like Kimiko the first time. Finally, the light receded into the spear. It glowed with dark energies.

"No!" Throwing a ball of magic towards Yume. Yume dodged, it hit the spear. He taunting that she missed.

"Who says I was aiming at you." Opening her palm to indict the release of her power.

The spear shone white, it became pure again. Yume felt the sting again. Using this distraction, Kimiko punched him, taking the Spear back into her hand.

"I really don't want to do this. But you left me with no choice." Chanting a spell, raising a hand, pointing towards Kimiko's chest. His hand glowed dark purple. Feeling a sharp pain through her body, Kimiko clutched her chest and fell to her knees.

"W…what did you do!" she glared at him. She started to pale. Yume took the spear from her, and it became dark again.

"You planted a curse in me…. why?"

" So you will not interfere with what I am doing." Kneeling in front of her, laid his hand on her cheek. Kimiko brushed him off.

"The youkais that you loved are spirit detectives, they work for them. You will help them and get into our way. So this is the only way to get you away from danger."

"I loved you, but why can't you love me back?"

"Because you are just like them, always thinking about yourself!" Shoving Yume away from her, using her free hand she grabbed for the spear. Enduring the shock from it. Yume tried to jerk the spear away from her, but she gripped it tighter.

Both of their energies collided causing a huge explosion. The dust cleared away, both of them were blown to the side of the wall. In each of their hand gripped the spear. The spear had broken into halves. The gang felt the barrier break and rushed to Kimiko's side. She halted them with her hand. Breathing deeply and rapidly, she pointed the broken spear at Yume.

"Yume! You BAKA!" she extracted power from the spear and used it against Yume. Yume was still trying to regain his energies; he was more injured than Kimiko. With the extra attack that Kimiko had thrown at him. He was unable to block it, closing his eyes to meet the final blow.

But it never came, someone blocked it and since the power was too immense, the person was blown away and landed beside him. He looked to find Umi.

"Umi?"

"Run…." And she fainted. Holding her by the arm, they retreated with half of the spear.

"We did it! I think." Botan cheered.

"KIMIKO!" she spat out blood and crumpled to the floor.

"BOTAN! TO KOENMA!"

"HAI!"

An hour later~~~~~~~~~~

The healers came out of the room. They proclaimed that they couldn't do anything. They had no idea what was wrong.

Kurama and Hiei were bleeding red, trying not to lash out at anyone. They only snapped out of their blood thirst when Yusuke suggested getting Sora, since she is also a sorceress.

They hurried back to the federal era. They were in the middle of the ball when they burst in. Grabbing hold of Sora's hand they dragged her through a portal to the reikai. Leaving Botan and the Shikon gang to do the explaining.

After twenty minutes~~~~~~~~~~~

"Well there is the good news and the bad news, so which one do you want to hear first?"

"The bad one." Hiei growled out at her.

"Well, want to hear the good one first?"

"No." Kurama replied as calmly as he could.

"Yume planted an ancient curse on her. This curse will drain her powers away as the days go by."

"Will she die?" Botan asked arriving with the rest.

"During the normal cases, she won't die. But…."

"But what?"

"She's pregnant, she will die from this curse if you don't get rid of the child…"
