A/N: Sorry for taking so long. I am not feeling well and a little tired right now. I also wanted to let you know I am going to start making the characters’ thoughts easier to notice. I couldn’t turn the text italic because I was using notebook for WinXP. Anyway, certain thoughts depending on their place in the story will be depicted like this… (Example).
In a light dream starting to awaken, Kagome felt something tickle her nose. She didn‘t want to wake up yet, not after the beautiful dream of Inuyasha and their children. “Mmmm, Inuyasha.” She could tell he was taking a claw lightly to her nose to awaken her. Two could play at these games, Kagome thought smartly. “Inuyasha… sit.” She said as quietly as she could.
*THUMP*
“Ka..go..me.. What the hell was that for? I know you are awake now. I can hear your giggling.” Inuyasha said with a slight growl.
“I didn’t want to wake up yet, and you started pestering me. I only thought it was suitable. Besides,” Kagome giggled. “I know if you get out of hand I can just sit you.”
*THUMP*
“Oh, Inuyasha, I am so sorry! I didn’t meant it that time!” Kagome moved over to where her new mate was pretty much eating dirt for breakfast. Lifting his head, Kagome smiled and kissed him. “I love you Inuyasha.”
“Kagome.” Inuyasha kissed her back. “Me too. We must get ready to leave. I am sorry that its not the romantic morning you would want to wake up to after last night.” He shuddered to think about everything. It was so wonderful last night with her, making her his. Yet the danger was not past. Sesshoumaru would be near to try and take Kagome back, even though she was now his by youkai law. He needed to find a way to keep Sesshoumaru from Kagome or he would notice the scent of the pup she now carried. (Feh, even though it is my pup, my arrogant brother would swear it was his creation.)
Bringing Inuyasha from his thoughts, he helped up Kagome and assisted her in dressing. Slowly he went to kiss her neck and she winced. “What is it Kagome? What’s wrong?”
“Nothing Inuyasha, my neck just hurt, I think it’s where you bit me last night. Sorry to worry you.” Kagome turned towards him and Inuyasha lifted her hair to lightly touch the sensitive scar from their mating. Even though it was healing, it would be a permanent scar on her. “When are we leaving Inuyasha? I want to say goodbye to Kouga and Aymae.”
“As soon as you are ready my dear. You may eat breakfast and wash up if you want, but the sooner the better. I want to get to Kaede’s before sundown.” With that said Inuyasha quickly hugged and went to find some food.

After saying goodbye, Inuyasha picked Kagome up and started off towards Kaede’s. When they reached the village a few hours later, they saw Sango and Miroku standing outside of Kaede’s hut. Their faces did not look pleased.
“Sango, Miroku!” Kagome said jumping off of Inuyasha’s back. “What’s wrong? Is the baby okay?”
“Yes, Kagome. We are glad to see Inuyasha has gotten you back from that bastard.” Miroku with anger.
“Miroku, what has happened? Why are you two so upset?” Kagome and Inuyasha gasped when they pushed back the flap of Kaede’s hut. The inside of the hut looked destroyed, broken bottles and wood were swept into a corner. In the other corner though was Kaede underneath a blanket, and she was barely breathing. As Inuyasha and Kagome walked closer they noticed she had a deep wound on her shoulder and several other small cuts and bruises that were healing.
Inuyasha smelling the unmistakable scent of Sesshoumaru turned to Miroku with a low growl in his throat. “When did this happen and why?”
Sango answered first. “She was trying to protect the Shikon no Tama. The villagers came and retrieved us after they heard the commotion. When we got here, the inside of the hut was destroyed and Kaede barely hanging on to life. It happened a few weeks ago.” Sango sighed as she rubbed her back. “The villagers and us have been treating her ever since. She almost died Inuyasha! All because of your damn brother!” Sango began to cry and Miroku walked over to calm his emotional wife.
“Why though?” Said Kagome, as she checked on a sleeping Kaede. “Why would he want the Shikon no Tama?”
“Kagome, can’t you see? He wants revenge! I don’t know how he expects to use it, but I can see now he will stop at nothing to take you back and see my pay!” Inuyasha walked from the hut. (That bastard. How dare he? What does he think to gain using that kind of power?)
“Kagome, please come stay with us. We know you have been through a lot, but we are here for you. We will protect you.” Miroku suddenly said. “Kaede will recover, and the villagers are here to tend her. We want you to be somewhere protected by your friends.”
Coming up behind Kagome, Inuyasha pulled her closer to him and growled. “We will stay with you for now Miroku. He will not take her from me again.”
Blinking in surprise at Inuyasha’s threat and suddenly familiar touch on Kagome. Sango looked suspiciously at the two, wiping the tears from her eyes. There was something different between them two and she wanted to know now. “What happened?” Was all she said.
Feeling Kagome’s breathing slow in exhaustion, Inuyasha filled their friends in about what had transpired the last few weeks. “After we reached Kouga’s camp, Kagome and I became life mates a few weeks after.” He finished. Seeing the faces of his friends drop in surprise, he figured he would hit them with another blow. “Kagome is also carrying my pup.” He said with a triumphant gleam in his eyes. Suddenly he was bombarded with congratulations from Miroku, and Kagome was taken from his arms into a suddenly crying Sango’s. Looking at Sango’s sudden outburst of tears, he wondered if Kagome would be as easily upset. For his sake, he hoped she wasn’t, or he would be sat more times than he would wish to think about.
“Oh, Kagome! Our babies can grow up together now! I am so happy. Inuyasha, you baka! I can’t believe it took you this long to admit you loved her, but I am so glad!” Cried Sango, hugging Kagome even closer to her.
After reaching Miroku’s and Sango’s hut. The men went out to get fresh food for dinner. Kagome and Sango talked about being pregnant, and how Sango, the proud, fearless youkai exterminator was scared of giving birth.
Sango sensing Kagome’s withdraw looked at her friend with tenderness, and asked her “Kagome, what is upsetting you? Are you not happy about Inuyasha and your baby?”
Smiling lightly, Kagome responded. “Of course I am, Sango. The truth is though,” she sighed. “This pup may not be Inuyasha’s. It could be Sesshoumaru’s. I just don’t know what to do! When did everything start going so wrong? First being abducted, seduced, now pregnant.” Silently tears fell from her eyes.
Gathering Kagome up against her, Sango rubbed her best friend’s back lightly. “Kagome it will all be fine. Think of Inuyasha, you two are finally together. He finally told you he loved you. According to Inuyasha, Sesshoumaru can not take you back. So all his planning has been in vain. Please cheer up, it isn’t good to be so stressed out when you are pregnant.” Feeling Kagome relax slightly, she heard her sigh.
“You are right Sango. I have nothing to worry about. I love Inuyasha, and I want to be with him always. It doesn’t matter if this child is his or not, it will be loved more than life itself and I won’t put it in danger.” Suddenly Kagome smiled. Sitting up she looked at Sango and asked her if she would like to come take a bath with her. Ever since her incident with Sesshoumaru, she still wasn’t confident enough to walk alone, in case he might be lurking somewhere near.

Indeed he was somewhere near. He watched the two women walk from the hut and head towards the spring. (So, you are afraid to go off alone my dear Kagome? Don’t worry I won’t be coming for you yet. I will be patient and wait to get my revenge on Inuyasha, and take you back as mine.) Picking up the scent of the men returning, Sesshoumaru sped off into the night, an evil smile on his normally unresponsive face. (Soon he thought. Soon.)
