A/N: Inuyasha in the last chapter was able to wield Testugia because it was his inheritance from his father. It was used to Inuyasha’s touch. I apologize for any confusion. I guess I should have explained that part.



Miroku saw Inuyasha first, holding the unconscious and bleeding Kagome. Rushing up to his friends he helped them inside his hut.

“What happened Inuyasha? Was it Sesshoumaru?“ Miroku said with concern. He looked up and saw Inuyasha’s face, the two purple streak marks on each side. (What was going on, Inuyasha never had those marks unless his youkai took over.)

Sango was bathing Kagome’s back, and rubbing herbs into them to help keep infection and pain away. For how deep they were, there was no doubt they would scar eventually. Inuyasha had remained silent the whole time, watching Kagome and never let go of her hand.

“Inuyasha? Are you going to tell us what happened or just stare off into the distance?” Sango spoke up so that maybe they could get some answers.

“I did it. It was my fault. Sesshoumaru wished upon Shikon no Tama. I am a youkai now. I hurt her.” Was all Inuyasha could say before tears fell from his eyes.

In shock of what they heard, Sango wondered how Inuyasha if he was youkai, was in control of himself. This would be a question later asked, right now it was up to her to treat Kagome’s wounds. She would get the whole story from him soon enough.

“N..nooo… don’t take the baby.” Whispered Kagome. She was still suffering from a slight fever from the wounds in her back. Inuyasha never left her side the entire day, holding onto her hand like a life line.

“Shh, Kagome, no one is taking our baby. I am here, and won’t let that happen.” Inuyasha whispered lightly into her ear. He hoped he could get through to her and the nightmares would end. He was starting to get concerned about the pup. She was stressing herself out too much, and the fever didn’t help. He leaned down and put his ear to her slightly rounded belly. He had completely forgotten to tell Kagome that it would only take 6 months to give birth to a hanyou. For youkai it was normally 3 months, but because she was human, a few more months were added on. Listening intently for a strong heartbeat of his child, he jerked his head up suddenly.

“Two? Two heartbeats?” Inuyasha whispered into the night. Is it possible? Of course it was, it was common knowledge that youkai’s could produce twins with their mate, but one pup normally was weak and died. How would Kagome take this news? Maybe he should keep it from her.

“Twins…I am having twins.” Inuyasha spoke out. No, he couldn’t keep this from Kagome. Although she was stressed she needed to know. Maybe then she would realize how important it was for her to remain healthy and worry free. Inuyasha was determined to have both his children born healthy. He laid against the wall for comfort and carefully brought Kagome into his lap, hoping her fever would break soon.

Kagome felt so hot. She knew she was having nightmares. She had to wake up, she needed to feel Inuyasha’s arms around her. Opening her eyes, she felt a searing pain in her back and she was covered in sweat. Although Inuyasha’s arms were not around her, she heard his voice talking to what sounded like Miroku and Sango. Trying to gain her voice, she called him. Nothing. She gave up and began to listen in as Inuyasha was apparently telling Sango and Miroku what happened with Sesshoumaru. He sounded like he was crying. ( I have never seen Inuyasha cry in front of anyone before.) Suddenly she heard the words ‘twins’ come from his mouth. Kagome jerked up suddenly and yelped out in pain. Inuyasha must have heard because his arms were immediately around her, telling her not to move, to relax. Staring up at his tear stained face, Kagome lifted her hand to wipe away a stray tear falling from his eyes. She smiled at him, and went back to sleep. She would ask him in the morning what he meant by twins.

When she woke up, Inuyasha still had her lying in his arms. She was so thirsty, she tried to speak again to ask for some water, but her throat was so dry, all that came out was a grunt. Apparently it worked though, because Inuyasha opened his eyes and was staring down at her, feeling her forehead to check for a fever, and calling out for Sango and Miroku. She was gently pulled up against him, and Sango gave her a glass of water. Regaining her voice slightly, she asked in a whisper.

“What happened? How long was I sick?”

“Two days. You still mustn’t move love. You are still too weak, and your back has yet to heal completely.” Inuyasha murmured. He was so happy she was okay, when she woke up the previous night and screamed out in pain, he rushed to her side and noticed that her fever was breaking, but she had reopened her wounds from the hasty movements and passed back out.

“How do you feel Kagome?” Asked Sango with tender concern. “Do you want anything to help your pain?”

“No, I am okay I guess. Just so tired. Oh, Sango, you should be sitting down and not worrying about me. Your baby is due in the next month, and me running you around isn’t good. Please, let Inuyasha take care of me.” Kagome said hoarsely.

Laughing slightly Sango just looked at her friend and shook her head. “Yes, I think she will be fine Inuyasha. Here she is putting everyone before herself again. I will leave you two alone for a little bit, and ask Miroku to make something light to eat for you. You are hungry right Kagome?”

“Starving. Thank you Sango.“ She smiled at her long time friend as she left the hut in search of her husband. Kagome then turned her attention to Inuyasha, who leaned down and kissed her ever so gently, almost like he was afraid she would break.

“Are you sure you are okay Kagome? Nothing hurts?” He eyed her with worry.

“I am fine, really Inuyasha. My back hurts only a little bit right now. More than anything I am just happy that you are here. I felt like I was having the strangest dreams. I swear I woke up last night and heard you say something about twins to Miroku and Sango. It must have been my fever, because you were even crying in front of them.” She laughed lightly at that thought.

Inuyasha tensed suddenly. (So she did hear me. Well, no time better than the present I guess.)

“Kagome. What you heard and seen the other night was no dream. I did cry in front of Miroku and Sango, because I felt so bad about what happened. It was all my fault you are injured. I was also worried about the pup too because of your fever, when I went to check the heartbeat, I discovered something, well, surprising. There were two heartbeats Kagome. That means there are two pups.” Inuyasha stared into her eyes, awaiting her reaction to such news.

“It wasn't your fault Inuyasha. I love you and was never angry about what happened. Wait. Two? I am having twins? We are having two pups? Oh my, what are we to do Inuyasha? I thought I would have enough problems with one pup being taken, but two?” She cried lightly into his shoulder. “Why does this have to happen to me? Why can’t we just be happy?”

“Kagome, calm down please. You must not stress yourself out. When a youkai is pregnant with twins, sometimes the smaller one doesn’t quite make it. Please, if you are strong and stress free, we might have two healthy pups. I don’t care if Sesshoumaru would be the father, I would rather know that your pups are alive and healthy, then…then….” He couldn’t finish what he was going to say. Just the thought of Kagome losing her pups made him sick to his stomach.

Kagome heard what her mate said as she was crying. He was right, she needed to stop. Any mother in the world would rather have her children live and be healthy, then see them buried. She needed to be strong for her pups, even if they might be taken from her in the end. At least they would be alive.

“You are right Inuyasha. I must be strong for our pups. I want them to live, no matter what happens when the time comes when I give birth. I want my pups to live.” Kagome kissed him lightly on the cheek.

“Kagome, I want that more than anything. There is one other thing I have forgotten to mention to you. Take a look at your stomach. See how you are already showing. Youkai’s give birth to their pups in 3 months. You being human, will give birth to ours in about another 5 ½ now. I am sorry I didn’t tell you, it just didn’t seem too important at the time. Are you mad?” Inuyasha saw her smile.

“Of course not. I don’t know if I could have handled the whole 9 months. I have seen women get so depressed and anxious waiting for their children to be born.” Kagome shifted her weight a little bit, her back was beginning to hurt slightly. “Inuyasha. Would you ask Sango for those herbs now? My back is beginning to hurt.”

Carefully he laid Kagome down, and went out to find Sango. Inuyasha was surprised at Kagome’s reaction to everything. She wasn’t upset, she was okay with twins, she was okay with having her pups in a little over 5 months. Now if only he knew if those pups were his, he would be the happiest youkai in the world.

Sorry this chapter is so short, and not that good. I couldn’t think of anything else to write at the moment and I didn’t want to skip the after fight scene part. Anyways, my next chapter will be out soon. A heads up on it too is that the next chapter will be taking place about 5 months after this one. Ja ne!
