A/N: This is the last chapter. There will be an epilogue though, so read that too!



Suddenly, the flap on the hut opened, and there was Sesshoumaru standing there with a smile on his face. Before Inuyasha could react and tell him to leave Kagome screamed a heart wrenching scream, while Sango quickly grabbed Kurotai from her loosened grasp. At first Inuyasha thought it was from seeing Sesshoumaru there, but realized the second pup was on its way.

“Kagome!” Inuyasha rushed to her side, forgetting about Sesshoumaru who was standing by the door staring. She was so pale. Her hair plastered to her face from sweat, tears streaming from her eyes.

“Inuyasha, try and make her push, this pup is going to be harder to give birth to than the last.” Kaede calmly said to the worried youkai. She looked up and over at Sesshoumaru. “Since it looks like you don’t intend to leave Sesshoumaru, hand me another towel. Sango is too busy getting Kurotai cleaned up.”

Sesshoumaru looked at the woman who dared gave him orders, then to Kagome. She needed help, he wanted his other pup to be healthy. He already knew that, Kurotai as they called him, was his son. He could smell the mixture of his blood and Kagome’s from across the room. Walking to a table, Sesshoumaru picked up a towel and handed it to the old hag. He could see and smell all the blood coming from the woman he impregnated. So much blood for a human to lose, would she die? Sesshoumaru shook his head, of course not. This woman was not an ordinary human, she was a miko and had the will to live.

Inuyasha stared over and saw Sesshoumaru help Kaede. He just wanted him to leave, he must already know these are his pups by the smell, but he wanted Kagome to have at least some time with them before Sesshoumaru cruelly took them from their mother. Kagome gripped his hand tightly and got Inuyasha’s attention again. (She needs me first.)

Screaming even louder than before Kagome was told to push hard one more time to help push the other pup out. Again the pressure built up inside of her, then released. She heard a faint mewling coming from the new bundle Kaede was quickly cleaning and wrapping tightly into the towel. She looked over and saw Sesshoumaru standing there with a shocked look upon his face.

“Kaede,” Kagome whispered. “What is my second child? I wish to name it before it is taken from me.” She lowered her eyes before tears could form. She was losing her children, all to him.

“It is a girl Kagome. Do you wish to hold her?” Kaede whispered. Neither Inuyasha or Sesshoumaru spoke as Kagome held her second child.

“Yume. That is her name.” Kagome stared into the child’s amber eyes, so much like Inuyasha’s. She paused. “There are no markings on Yume, Inuyasha. Is she okay? Is there something wrong with her?”
Inuyasha finally stared at Yume, his eyes widen at the sight and scent of her.

“How? How is it possible?” Inuyasha stammered.

“Indeed.” Sesshoumaru said with a hint of amazement.

“What? What is wrong with her!? Why are you both just standing there? Tell me what is wrong!” Kagome shouted with the last of her energy.

“Kagome. I don’t know how to tell you this, or even how it happened, but…” Inuyasha paused.

“That child is Inuyasha’s, Kagome. Not mine.” Sesshoumaru finished for him.

“What?!” said the three human women at once.

“How is it even possible? Two children, two fathers at once?” Sango said from behind Sesshoumaru.

“I am not sure myself. Somehow the youkai and miko blood made it possible.” Sesshoumaru said simply as if that was the answer.

“Feh. You see Yume is mine, leave Sesshoumaru you are not wanted here.” Inuyasha said proudly. (He was a father!)

“You are forgetting someone Inuyasha. Did she not just give birth to a male? I want my son.” Sesshoumaru said with anger.

“No.. please Sesshoumaru, don’t take him from me!” Kagome tried to get off the bed, but couldn’t, all of her strength was gone.

Sesshoumaru walked over to where Sango was clutching Kurotai tightly, afraid of the taiyoukai standing in front of her. When she looked over to Inuyasha, he growled low, but nodded his head. Sesshoumaru gently took the sleeping bundle from her arms, and gazed upon his new heir.

“Beautiful.” Was all he could say, as a look of love and tenderness fell across the normally emotionless youkai’s face in front of everyone in the room. Sesshoumaru felt his heart bursting. He was perfect, little claws, a small green moon on his forehead. Perfect, and mine. When Kurotai opened his eyes Sesshoumaru stared deep into them. They were the opposite of his amber eyes with green specks. Kurotai’s were an emerald green and amber specks. Kurotai began to cry then, a loud, lusty cry. He was hungry. Never taking his eyes off his new son, he took Kurotai to his mother to let him feed. As he watched the beautiful scene in front of him, he never noticed his brother glaring at him and growling fiercely. He looked up to see Kagome crying, he knew he must take his son. He loved him the moment he set eyes on him. He needed this, and he knew she would be heartbroken. (Yet it must be done.) Gently he took Kurotai from his mother’s arms. She tried to hold onto him, but released, afraid one of them would hurt the sleepy pup.

“Say goodbye to him Kagome. You have Yume and Inuyasha. I want our son. It is the right of any father to take their child. I am sorry to do this to you. Know this though, he will be loved, and he will be told about his beautiful mother.” Sesshoumaru felt tears in his eyes, but held them back. He did not want to hurt her like this, but there was nothing that would keep him from his heir, and the only piece of Kagome he had.

“Please, Sesshoumaru. Let me keep him, let Inuyasha and I raise him with Yume. Please. You may see him, we will tell him that you are his father, just don’t take him from me. Please!” Kagome pleaded desperately. She looked over to Inuyasha, who was holding Yume while staring daggers at his brother. (Why won’t he say anything?)

“Inuyasha? Please do something! Please don’t let him take Kurotai!” Kagome cried out for her mates help. She saw him shake his head and knew all was lost. She was losing her son.

“Kagome. There is nothing I can do, he has the right to take him. If I could I would kill him here and now, but I do not want bloodshed on the day Yume and Kurotai were born. Neither you or I could live with ourselves. Sesshoumaru. Do not come around again. Allow Kagome one last look at her pup and leave.” Inuyasha said with pain in his voice. He could not believe he was doing this to his mate, but he had no control over anything in this room.

Nodding at his, now youkai, brother he handed Kurotai to his mother one last time. Kagome cried and told him how much she loved him, said she would always be by his side and one day they would all be together. She kissed him on his head one last time before tearfully and reluctantly giving him back to his father.

“Sesshoumaru!” Kagome caught his attention before he left with his new heir. “Promise you will love him and take care of him? Promise you will tell him his mother didn’t want to leave him, but had no choice. Promise me…”

“Kagome. He will be loved, and told everyday how much he is loved. He will be raised to be strong, he will be healthy, he will be told of his beautiful mother, and how she melted the ice over my heart. I love him Kagome. Kurotai is our son, created by the brief love we shared. He will know this.” Sesshoumaru couldn’t help but let a tear fall from his eye, as he saw Kagome reach out for Kurotai one last time as he left and headed home.

“Inuyasha! Oh Inuyasha! He took him, he really took him!” Kagome sobbed uncontrollably into her mate’s shirt. He lifted her head, and kissed her. He had no clue of how to calm her down, he was crying himself.

“Kagome. Please, Kagome. Think of our child, please, think of Yume. She needs her mother, remember? She was smaller than Kurotai, and needs you. Remember Kagome. You have not lost everything. I know losing Kurotai will pain you for a long time to come, but please, you must remember Yume, it is not fair to her.” Inuyasha pleaded to his mate. He knew Kagome would be heart stricken by all these events, but she must stay healthy enough for their daughter. He was suddenly afraid that she would reject their child now because of it not being Sesshoumaru’s. He didn’t understand how any of this happened himself, and he didn’t care. All he knew was that she gave birth to two children, one his, and the other his brother’s. One was just taken from her and the other craving for love and food.

Looking at Sango who was also crying, she understood what Inuyasha wanted her to do. Sango lifted Yume from the small cradle and placed her in Inuyasha’s arms. Kagome looked up and stared at her tiny daughter. She began to cry again, feeling the pain from losing her son. It was then Yume began to cry. It was so soft, and low. Kagome stared at her daughter intently for the first time since giving birth to her. She looked just like Inuyasha, amber eyes, silver hair. She looked almost like Kurotai, but without the green moon on her forehead and without the green eyes. Eventually a calm came over Kagome, as she reached out and took Yume from her father’s grasp. Setting Yume to her breast, she let her tiny daughter feed.

“Kagome. Kurotai will be loved. Did you see Sesshoumaru before he left? He meant it. I could even smell tears coming from him. It pained him to take him, but look. We have Yume. She will have so much love from you. Give her the love that was meant for Kurotai as well. I love her with all my heart, as much as I love you my dear. She will never lack that love, and I have a feeling neither will Kurotai.” Inuyasha took his mate’s hand into his and stared into her eyes to see if she would be okay.

“You are right Inuyasha. Kurotai will be loved I feel. Yume will have both her parents, and we will love her with all our hearts. Yet, Inuyasha, Sango, Kaede. Yume must never know she has a twin, please. I am afraid, this may be cruel of me, but I do not think I could live knowing my daughter will grow up never knowing her brother, it would just be best if she did not know she had one at all.” Kagome said softly and saw the shocked faces on everyone, but they understood. It was better to have Yume grow up not knowing she had a brother, than being told she would never know him.

“I love you Kagome. You are strong my love. Give Yume to me please, you need your rest.” Inuyasha said while taking Yume from her arms.

“One thing Inuyasha. How did this happen? How did I have one pup to each of you?” Kagome yawned.

“I am not sure, but maybe the gods blessed us. Maybe this was what Sesshoumaru needed for himself, and what we needed for all the love we share. I just don’t know Kagome. Go to sleep.” Inuyasha kissed his mate’s nose, and then kissed his little sleeping daughter before laying her in the cradle. He stood up and went outside and stared at the stars. (Keep Kurotai safe, and please love him Sesshoumaru, you owe Kagome that much.)

Sesshoumaru returned home, still holding his new heir. He had to find a human female to nurse his new son, and in that time, found a woman who had lost her husband and baby to disease. He employed her as Rin and Kurotai’s nursemaid. He knew without a doubt he would never have another child, so he wanted a female around to love his two children.

Walking into Rin’s room after settling the new nursemaid in, he stared at her while she hummed and played with his old toys. She finally sensed she as being watched and looked up to see Sesshoumaru holding a strange bundle.

“Sesshoumaru!” Rin ran and hugged him as always, she only straightened for a brief moment when for once she felt his arm wrap around her and hug her back.

“Rin, this is your new brother Kurotai. Love him as much as I do. Love him as much as I love you, daughter.” Sesshoumaru kneeled down to allow Rin to see her new brother, and she squealed with joy when he opened his eyes and stared at her.

“Kurotai, I’m Rin your new sister.” Rin stared in awe. “This is Sesshoumaru our new father. I love him very much, and I hope you will too.”

Sesshoumaru just stared at his two children and smiled. ( Even though I have lost Kagome, I have gained something far more precious. The love of my children and my love for them.)

*Sniff Sniff* Oooooooooohh What an ending…Strange as it may be, I told you a few chappies ago to make sure you had an open mind about her being a miko and them being youkai and all…. Even though Kagome may have lost her son to Sesshoumaru, it seems Sesshoumaru realized unconditional love just by seeing his new son. Is this the end though? Naaahh… there will be an epilogue.
