A/N: Just wanted to thank Inuyashaloverr and Chanda for their reviews. Thanx for the birthday wishes, Chanda. Go Aries! Lol.
Also, recently realized that my title was spelled incorrectly. It should be `Two Worlds One love'. I've already deleted and revised it once because of the whole review problem and it would be too hard to do it all again. Sorry guys.

Inuyasha knew it wouldn't take them much longer to get to their destination. So he was glad to see they were finally there.

“Where are we?” Kagome asked, looking around the small village ignoring the people's stares toward her clothing. She had gotten used to that years ago.

“I wanted you to see someone before you went back home,” Inuyasha stated as they continued walking.

Kagome disregarded the twinge of pain at the fact that Inuyasha had acknowledged that she'd be leaving soon. Instead she wondered who he wanted her to see. Finally they came upon a small cottage.

Inuyasha was going to knock on the door when two small children ran from the side of the house. A girl and a boy, it was obvious that they were twins. Two little dark heads stood together, and two pairs of dark blue eyes stared openly curious at Inuyasha and Kagome.

The twins had to be at least five years old. The girl and boy looked so exceptionally familiar that Kagome felt the strangest urge to hug them.

The boy spoke up, “You must be Inuyasha.”

“Yeah? What of it?” Inuyasha answered as aloof as always.

The twins weren't daunted. The girl spoke next, “Our mother and father tell us stories about you. They told us you have long, silver hair and always wear a red kimono.”

Inuyasha just raised an eyebrow.

Kagome stammered, “Your parents? A-are they . . .?”

“And you must be Kagome,” the candid boy spoke to her next. “Mom and dad told us about your funny clothes.”

“Oh, ya? Well what else did they tell you?” Inuyasha asked crudely. Kagome was about to scold him when the girl answered.

“That you and Kagome fight all the time, but you're really in loooove—”

“That's quite enough pestering our guests for now, you two,” a deep, friendly voice interrupted from the door. Kagome and Inuyasha looked up.

“We've kind of been filling them in on our adventures,” Miroku said nonchalantly.

“Miroku!” Kagome ran and gave him a friendly hug. “It's been so long.”

“That it has,” Miroku commented as they pulled away from the hug. “You look well, Kagome,” he told her politely.

“Thanks. So do you, Miroku.”

He smiled and looked passed her. “Inuyasha, it's about time you came to visit.”

“Keh.” Inuyasha looked away.

Miroku walked over to Inuyasha and stuck out his hand. Inuyasha raised an eyebrow in remote disbelief. Miroku wouldn't be deterred. Inuyasha gave in and shook his old friend's hand with a reluctant but glad smile.

“Come on in,” Miroku invited. Kagome and Inuyasha followed, the twins behind them.

Kagome still wasn't sure whose children they were, but she had her wishful assumptions.

The inside of the cottage was small and quaint. Surely Miroku didn't live here alone for a woman's touch emanated from the room. So who . . .?

“Kagome!”

Kagome's face lit with happy surprise. “Sango!” Kagome ran to Sango to hug her only to stop short when she seen Sango's midsection. Her belly was fully rounded with child. Now Kagome realized that Sango glowed with that special kind of radiance.

Sango laughed, “I know, I know. I'm huge.”

Kagome gave her a warm hearted smile. “Not at all, Sango. You're lovely.”

Sango rolled her eyes. “Yeah right,” she said with a chuckle. They hugged as much as Sango's round belly would allow. Sango looked passed Kagome to where Miroku stood with Inuyasha by the entrance of the cottage.

“Hello, Inuyasha,” Sango said glancing at him and Kagome with an enigmatic smile.

“Hey, Sango,” Inuyasha replied neutrally.

Sango smiled. “Why don't you guys go wash up for dinner and take the twins with you while Kagome and I get caught up.” After the guys and kids left Sango turned to Kagome. “You will stay for dinner, won't you?”

“Of course, we'd love to,” she said speaking for Inuyasha as well. Just then Kagome noticed a little boy hiding behind the skirts of Sango's long kimono. His hair was jet black and his eyes were big and blue. He looked to be about two years old and was the spitting image of Miroku. Kagome met Sango's gaze.

Already knowing, but needing to hear it anyway Kagome asked, “So . . . you and Miroku . . .?”

Sango blushed, “Yes, we're married.”

“So the twins and this little one are . . .” Kagome was too flabbergasted to even finish her sentences.

Sango answered proudly none the less. “Yep. They're mine and Miroku's children.” She laughed and patted her belly. “And another on the way in about a week.”

Kagome hugged Sango again. “Oh, I'm so happy for the both of you. I can't believe that you two married. I mean I was always hoping, but . . .”

Sango smiled wistfully as she sat down. The small, quiet boy immediately climbed into her lap. “Miroku had quite a bit of convincing to do though.”

Kagome frowned as she sat on the floor next to Sango. “What do you mean?”

“Well, I had just gotten Kohaku back and knew it would take a long time to nurse him back to health, physically and emotionally.” Kagome knew they had found out that Naraku had lied about Kohaku. Even though the shard was taken from his back, he had survived.

Sango continued, “And although Miroku was there being so supportive and caring, I still felt he would always be caught up in his womanizing ways.”

“So what finally convinced you other wise?” Kagome had to know.

“Besides the fact that he was great with Kohaku? His dedication. He would not leave our sides unless I asked him to. And even then he'd keep in touch. He showed me that love was worth taking a risk for, and I learned to believe it. He's still a bit of a lecher, and I know he still enjoys flirting, but in the end I know it's not serious and he always comes back to us. And at least he stopped asking women to bare his children. I bared enough for the whole village anyway.” They shared a laugh.

Sano's eyes blazed with anger a second later. “Besides,” she said through clenched teeth, “I'll have to hurt him otherwise.”

Kagome tried not to laugh or cringe.

Sango cooled down. `It's amazing how a pregnant woman could change moods so quickly,' Kagome thought.

“So, what's going on with you and Inuyasha? I thought he was going to use the jewel to become a full demon?”

“He was. Is.” Kagome sighed. “I'm not sure why he waited. But he made it clear that I'm going back home and he still plans to get rid of his human self.” Kagome buried her face in her hands to keep the tears from falling. “Oh, Sango. I love him so much. But it's obvious that he doesn't feel the same.”

Sango put a hand on Kagome's shoulder, “Kagome . . .”
Just then Inuyasha, Miroku, and the kids came in. The women stopped their conversation guiltily. Miroku smirked knowingly and scooped up the two year old from Sango's lap. He passed the boy to Inuyasha. “Here, Inuyasha, hold Quoi.”

Inuyasha held the boy away from his body awkwardly, Kagome almost laughed.

Miroku tenderly helped Sango to her feet. She smiled her thanks and gazed at him lovingly. Miroku rubbed Sango's round belly and kissed her affectionately on the lips. Sango seemed to melt under Miroku's touch, Kagome couldn't help noticing.

She glanced at Inuyasha only to notice him staring at her intently. She quickly averted her gaze so he wouldn't see in her eyes what she felt while watching Miroku and Sango together: Envy.

***********

Through out dinner Inuyasha couldn't help remembering the look on Kagome's face as she smiled repentantly at the two lovers. They were married and had a family. Is that what she wanted? Inuyasha knew he could never give her that though he wished more than anything that he could. That's why it's best that she goes back to her own era and stays there. Let her find a human man to make her happy and give her what she needs and desires.

And as much as it enraged him to think of another man touching Kagome let alone loving her, he knew she'd make some lucky guy one hell of a wife. His jealousy against some unknown man stayed with him through out dinner.

Though Kagome noticed Inuyasha's sudden withdrawal from everyone, she did not comment on it.

***********

After dinner Inuyasha joined Miroku for a walk. They walked on a dirt path through a small forest.

“So why didn't you turn full demon, Inuyasha?”

Inuyasha refused to answer.

“Okay, well how `bout this: How did Kagome come across the jewel?”

Silence.

“Inuyasha, you can talk to me. I can tell something heavy is weighing on your mind, or heart . . . or both—”

“Look,” Inuyasha turned to Miroku sharply causing their walk to a halt. “I missed her, okay? I couldn't imagine living the rest of my life never seeing her beautiful face again. Call me crazy but I couldn't get her off my mind. So I hid the jewel hoping she'd come across it in her era in the future.”

“And?” Miroku probed.

Inuyasha grunted, threw his hands up and let them fall to his sides again. “And it worked. She found it and came looking for me.”

“What did you hope to accomplish once she got here?” Miroku asked outright.

“I don't know.” Inuyasha sighed. “I don't know, I just . . . I just needed to see her again.”

“And you wish her to stay?” Miroku chanced.

Inuyasha rubbed his hand over his face. “Yes. No! Maybe. But I know nothing good can come of it for her. She doesn't need this and I doubt she wants it. She has a family, friends, and a life back in her time. I don't want her to look at me one day with hatred in her eyes for all I took her from.”

Miroku ventured in unclear territory with his next question. “So if she stayed you two would be . . .?”

Inuyasha looked at him as though he sprouted horns out of the top of his head. “What? Married? Come on, Miroku, you know as well as I that I'm not the marrying type.”

Miroku smiled somberly. “I know that, but does Kagome?”

“Of course she does.” Doesn't she? The thought of Kagome wanting to marry him was so overwhelming in more ways than one.

“How do you feel about Kagome, Inuyasha?”

Inuyasha thought a moment. “I know I feel something for her. I always have. She's so sweet and caring. She's beautiful and smart. Everything I'm not, and she deserves so much more.”

“But isn't that for her to decide?” Miroku asked quietly.

Inuyasha looked down at the ground. “It should be.” His voice became harsh. “But I can't give her what she wants!”

Miroku studied Inuyasha calmly. “But do you really know what it is she wants? Maybe it would be wise to ask her.”

Inuyasha slashed at a nearby tree with his claws, leaving jagged marks. “I can't asked her damn it! Don't you see? She'll either tell me what I'd hate to hear, or what I damn well don't need to hear.”

Miroku still stayed calm, allowing his friend to release some of his pent up anger and frustration.

“She's not supposed to be with me. Just as I'm not meant for her. We're too different; we come from two different times, two different worlds. She's human and I'm half demon. Nothing between us could work! It . . . It shouldn't work.” He leaned his head against the rough bark of a tree. “But damn she's so sexy. Her face, her hair, her scent, her body—”

Miroku jumped back dramatically. “Inuyasha! You didn't . . .”

“Inuyasha grimaced at the sheer audacity Miroku, of all people, had pretending to be shocked when he's spent most of his days as a lecher. Inuyasha straightened and said, “No, we didn't you pervert. But that doesn't mean I don't find Kagome alluring enough to want to. I just don't know if we should if I can't give her more than that.”

Miroku seemed to recover rather quickly. “What would you give her if you could Inuyasha?”

Inuyasha straightened at the question. “I don't know . . . I'd be human for starters.” He sighed. “She can't live her life with a half demon let alone whole. I'd love to give Kagome her own home. Somewhere we could raise our—” He cut off abruptly, getting angry all over again. “Listen to me! Damn it, Miroku. I don't even sound like myself anymore. I've gotten too soft over these years of knowing Kagome. She'd be better off with out me, and I know I'd be better off without her.”

Just then Miroku cleared his throat nervously and looked behind Inuyasha. Inuyasha turned to see what Miroku was looking at. Kagome stood there at the edge of the forest with an anguished look on her face, her hands clenched at her sides. It's obvious that she had heard only the last of what he said. But she heard the wrong thing at the wrong time. Inuyasha knew how she must have taken it.

“Look, Kagome—”

Tears and anger glistening in her eyes, Kagome turned and ran.
