Inuyasha ripped the bag from Kagome's hands and scowled powerfully. “No dammit!”
“Inuyasha!” She was tired of arguing. They had been going back and forth about it since this morning when they walked from the water fall back to the camp. Inuyasha was now back to his half demon form and was as obstinate as ever. He had refused to let her go back home earlier and he's still doing so now that she's packed and ready to go. She had begged him, telling him about her dream of her grandfather, telling him how she feels in her heart that something just isn't right . . .
But all he had done was reply that `a stupid dream' didn't mean anything, and a feeling wasn't any more significant. So he had denied her completely, and is still telling her no as if he owns her. He seemed to believe it so . . . that angered Kagome to the point of helpless tears.
She made an attempt to snatch her bag back from him, but he pulled away too quickly. Kagome cried silent but frustrated tears and Inuyasha sighed.
“Kagome, your place is with me now. You belong with me.”
“Please, Inuyasha . . .” Kagome's voice was but a mere, helpless whisper. She loved him, needed him with every ounce of her essence. But she also loved her grandfather and felt something was wrong. Felt that she needed to be home to see him, if only to reassure herself that perhaps her dream was wrong . . . but she knew it wasn't. She felt it intuitively that something wasn't right and that her Grandfather was somehow in trouble or pain. She looked at the man before her with golden eyes . . . if only Inuyasha could begin to understand how badly she wanted and needed to get back home.
She knew that to love someone was to sacrifice anything and everything for them if need it be. It was obvious that Inuyasha still did not see that. Obvious that he was still stuck in his selfish, shallow ways that only saw to benefit Inuyasha.
Inuyasha saw Kagome's eyes pleading with his as they stood there silently assessing one another with their gazes. He knew that she was hurting, but she would get over it. Her duty was to him now, she was his now. And they're mates, tied to one another for life, bonded for eternity. All she needs is him now, there's no point of her going back to her old life. Who cares about a stupid dream? He knew she'd come to realize that she's completely wrong. That it's merely a woman faze she's going through at the moment.
He knew she'd be back to normal in no time. Inuyasha knew that their new life as mates started today, and they would have to be devoted to each other. Because in this harsh world of demons and betraying humans, all they had to trust and hold on to was each other.
“Inuyasha, if I can just—”
“Enough, Kagome! Not another word about it,” Inuyasha commanded with abrupt force.
“I don't understand! Why can't I just—”
Inuyasha's fist flew into a nearby tree causing the bark to shatter. Kagome flinched into herself. Not afraid of his intolerable temper, for that she was used to, but just merely shocked that he got so angry so quickly.
Once again Inuyasha and his temper reigned the conversation. This one at least. Kagome knew she could scream back, maybe even `sit' him. But right now she was too emotionally exhausted to want to try. With helpless tears staining her cheeks she turned and walked away with out a second glance, leaving Inuyasha to stand alone in her empty wake.
Inuyasha watched helplessly as she walked slowly but surely away from him and his uncontrollable anger. Her bag was still clutched in his left hand, his knuckles white from the force he held the bag with. He looked from the bag and back up to where Kagome had walked. She was out of sight now, but her scent and shattered presence still lingered with him.
He hated seeing her hurt. Especially when he was the one causing her pain . . . damn it, he seemed to do that a lot . . . he wondered if that would ever change over time. He scoffed to himself. Probably not. He was too stubborn and selfish to, for once, look at her and her feelings and put her before him. That was his problem. Maybe if he just let her go—
No! She needs him dammit! Just him!
But as Inuyasha stood there in the silence of nature, staring after the gone Kagome, he realized she wasn't the one who needed him as badly as he needs her . . . and that reality fell hard like a collapsing mountain.
**********
Kagome laid alone in the dark of the night, tucked into her sleeping bag. Sleep eluded her, but her tears seemed to take its place. The flow was nonstop, for she was aching with pain and missing home like never before. Along with the saddened tears flowed anger and bitterness toward the only man she loved. Couldn't he stop his selfish ways for only a moment to just understand and care how she felt? What she truly needed even if it interrupted his plans and his own needs?
She hasn't seen Inuyasha since earlier that morning. In fact she's been avoiding him completely for fear that she may not be able to control her anger and hurt when she sees him. What did he expect her to do? Act like nothing was wrong? Like he didn't deny her request to go home to check on her Grandfather? Well she couldn't do it, wouldn't do it.
Kagome thought of running away, but knew in her heart of hearts that getting the jewel from Inuyasha without him knowing would be next to impossible. So she laid there helpless. If it was one thing Kagome hated feeling, it was helplessness.
She closed her eyes tightly as she felt her heart being clenched in painful vices. Something was wrong and she needed to be home! There was a hollow ache in her belly that made her realize that something wasn't right at home, and she needed to be there as soon as possible . . . and yet, she was stuck here because Inuyasha was keeping her hostage. Kagome sighed, it wasn't quite that, but it seemed so. She felt like a prisoner, and he was her captor who had thrown away the key to this cage she was engulfed in.
She couldn't understand why he couldn't see to reasoning. Couldn't understand her feelings and needs. Why he couldn't be compassionate and understanding to her situation. Kagome wished that he could just be in her shoes for a moment so maybe he could comprehend the fear inside of her that now ruled her every moment and breath.
She heard footsteps, knowing who it was with out having to look. Inuyasha crouched beside her and whispered her name in the softness of the night. But Kagome felt anything but welcoming and happy to have him near. And the last thing she wanted to feel at that moment was his fingers caressing the side of her face. She flinched away from him. Inuyasha's movements stopped immediately.
“What's wrong, Kagome?”
He really has to ask?! Kagome wanted to scream right then, demand to know what the hell was the matter with him. How could he ask that? How could he not know what was the matter with her when she begged him earlier to let her go home and he denied her? He expected her just to welcome him with open arms now in the middle of the night after he betrayed her in one of the worst ways possible?
But she wasn't going to argue in the middle of the night. She wasn't going to scream or yell to try to knock sense into him. She had learned to give that up a long time ago. It was hopeless for Inuyasha to see reasoning to anyone's feelings and needs but his own. And right now she didn't need or want to point that out. For now she just wanted to lay here and sulk and pray that there was some way out of here. Some way to get home to those who need her most right now. But Inuyasha didn't seem to care that she didn't want to be by him.
He leaned down until his lips found the smooth column of her throat. Kagome let out an unwilling sigh. Inuyasha bit lightly, running his tongue over the flesh of her throat. Kagome reluctantly arched her body slightly toward his. His large hands found her breasts and his soft lips found hers. Inuyasha's tongue touched hers tentatively, then he deepened the kiss when she responded with a slight moan.
Kagome mind told her she was still angry, her heart told her she was still hurting, but her body . . . her body told her she needed this. And at the moment she was in no condition not to listen. To maybe forget this emotional pain and replace it with physical pleasure if only for a while.
She placed her hand upon the side of Inuyasha's face as he continued to kiss her deeply and caress her breast with fevered ease. Kagome relished in his warm breath upon her face between kisses, licks, and nibbles. She melted underneath the touch of his finger tips running down her body and pushing up the cloth of her thin nightgown. His hot hands seared her cool skin, the callused pads of his fingers rubbed her flesh, his claws scraped her skin . . . and to Kagome, it all felt wonderful.
Inuyasha ran his hand up to her bare breast and teased her hardened nipples and stroked her full mound of flesh. She sighed in reprieve when he finally placed his mouth on her hot breast and hard nipple. His mouth worked upon her with such mastery she wanted to cry. She looked down as he licked and nibbled on her breast, she watched his mouth move upon her skin and it made her breathe intensely with wanton fervor. He looked up and caught her gaze on him, and his passionate look only intensified.
He pulled himself down, trailing his lips down her soft belly. Kagome cried out only when his lips found the moist spot between her thighs. His tongue licked her softly in sensual circles and sensuous flicks. Kagome felt herself getting extremely wet from his moist tongue, yet knowing it was also her own juices that flowed because she was so heated. Inuyasha bit the inside of her thigh and trailed licks and bites up to her knee. Pulling up her night gown, Inuyasha helped Kagome out of the thin cloth. Kagome was completely naked and watched as Inuyasha took off his clothes also.
She expected him to rest himself between her thighs, but he grabbed her and pulled her up, placing her on all fours, her knees and hands upon the ground. Her naked bottom was facing him and she almost felt vulnerable. Inuyasha ran his rough fingers along her wet softness from behind. Kagome shivered and sighed, getting lost in ecstasy not being able to see him. There was something so exciting about not being able to see him, but only feel his touches.
He grabbed her full, round hips and Kagome felt the hard tip of him press against her wet entrance. She nearly cried in sweet agony as he entered her slowly. Breathing ardently she felt every contour of his hardness as he stretched her carefully. Kagome's breath caught instantly as he finally filled her completely hitting the wall deep within her.
Kagome practically screamed out as he pulled out and thrusted back into her with hard force. Inuyasha continued to grip her hips as he drove into her, using his hands to push and pull her away and against him. Making their bodies collide with intense craze.
Inuyasha slowed his tempo and ran his hands up the arch of her back and back down again tracing her curves with his sharps nails. He leaned forward until his chest was pressed to her back, him still within her. He bit her shoulder with force making Kagome shudder. His tongue licked its way down to her back until he was up right again.
Inuyasha begin moving roughly against and within her again. Kagome responded enthusiastically moaning loudly with panting breaths. The rhythm continued for only moments until they both reached their intense peaks. They both collapsed upon the ground and Inuyasha pulled Kagome to him making her head rest on his shoulder with his arm resting on her hip. Kagome was too tired to fight him right now, too tired to pull away. And with a last sigh she fell asleep next to him.
***********
Kagome woke close to dawn when the sky was still dark, but light enough to cast a dim, blue glow around them. Her head rested on Inuyasha's arm, close to his chest. Her eyes followed the outline of his body, the hard contours of his muscles on his arms, shoulders, and chest.
She gradually placed her hand upon his chest, feeling the heat of his skin. Loving the temperature that heated her finger tips. His skin was extremely smooth, yet completely taut. Kagome ran her fingers over the sheer mounds of muscle on his chest, loving the feel, relishing in the textures of his upper body.
Her fingers went over his hard curves, sometimes molding into the contours of each muscle. She traced her hands up to his shoulders and back down again, feeling every form of every mound of muscle.
She looked up at Inuyasha's sleeping face. It was toward her and so close that his warm breath grazed her face tenderly. He looked so innocent and vulnerable while sleeping . . . almost like a child. Kagome pushed herself up slightly and kissed his soft, closed lips. He sighed as if aware of her caress but too lost in sleep to awake. Kagome did it once more, parting her lips to fit his perfectly. She pulled away less than an inch. “I love you,” she whispered before kissing him once more. Of course there was no answer, no response of any kind. But she wasn't saying it to hear it back. She was saying it to him because it felt good, because it was the truth. Kagome no longer cared if he said it back or even felt the same. No, she just was glad he knew how she felt . . . even in sleep.
***********
Inuyasha awoke to the sound of chirping birds. The sun had barely risen only minutes ago. He looked down at his sleeping Kagome who rested gently on his arm, her soft breaths comforting to his ears. He had doubted she'd have him last night. He knew he had some nerve to even ask or offer. But she took him in even though he knew she was hurting and angry with him.
He had took her passionately and slept by her, with her, fitfully. As he looked down upon her sleeping, and how she was so unknowingly innocent, he sighed. She was so beautiful, so special to him that he didn't want to hurt her. Regardless of his own need for her, he needed to see to it that she gets all she desires. Or he would at least die trying.
He was overlooking his own feelings and needs right now as he looked upon her lovely, sleeping face. She looked so angelic and ethereal that it was breath taking. Her face was fair in skin color, her cheeks delicately rosy, and her lips softly pink. Even though her hair was mussed she still looked amazing and Inuyasha smiled to himself.
Hell, he was lucky to have her for as long as he did. For he knew he didn't deserve someone so damn wonderful who cared for him so damn much. He reached over and brushed back a black, stray tendril of hair that rested across her forehead. Inuyasha kept his hand there on the side of her soft face. He loved her damn it, more than anything in this world . . . that's why he was going to take care of her. Let her have what she wanted and most of all what she needed.
In sleep he had dreamed of her soft voice whispering words of love, even felt her soft caresses . . . but after that, he had remembered something that was said by Kagome a while back when she was comforting Shippo.
“If you love something, set it free. If it comes back to you, it's yours forever.”
Inuyasha knew that in this case it fit perfectly . . . he loved Kagome, he was going to set her free . . . only, in their case, he wasn't going to let her come back to him.
