Kikyo Ellis fell back into the hay right next to her companion who just happened to be the Viscount St. Clair both breathing heavily from their previous activity. The smell of their sweat soaked bodies mingled with that of the rarely used barn, both laid panting their bodies entangled.

"Well Inuyasha you've left me breathless again." Kikyo purred as her breathing began to return to its normal state. "Like always."

Inuyasha St. Clair grinned as her rolled over and pinned Kikyo down causing her to giggle. "I'm glad you like our encounters as much as I do." He paused. "We should make it permanent."

Her giggles stopped abruptly. "You mean marriage?" When he nodded she pushed him off of her. "That would never work."

Inuyasha stood to pull up his trousers. "Why not?"

"Because darling, I have so much more living to do."

"Kikyo your 25." He pointed out. "Your not get any younger."

Kikyo stood and fastened the laces on her chemise. "This I know but still marriage means children and I don't like children."

Inuyasha rolled his eyes as he tugged on his boots. "You just want your freedom so you can sleep around Kikyo."

"And if I do." She replied. "Who is there to stop me?"

When he failed to answer she readily filled the silence.

"No one and that's how I intend to keep it."

Full dressed Inuyasha stood and smiled mischievously at Kikyo. "That's what you think my dear."

"No Inuyasha that's what I know."

Secretly both lovers had formed a plan in their minds eye; one had a plan to trap and the other had a plan to elude but what neither of the two knew was that fate was about to intervene.

"Well we need to go before anyone discovers that were missing." Inuyasha stated casually.

"Oh I do believe your right."

Later that night…

"I don't see why you're leaving with such haste, Kikyo."

"Because I need to be gone by sun up that's why."

"But won't someone realize your gone, sister?"

"Yes that's the point dimwit."

Kagome Ellis sat back on the heels of her feet and watched as her half-sister threw things hurriedly into traveling bag.

"What's your reason for leaving?" She asked timidly.

After forcing the over stuffed bag closed Kikyo faced Kagome and frowned. "You poor creature you wouldn't ever be able to understand my predicament." She paused. "Has anyone ever told you that you appear quite plain and dull?"

"Yes." She paused. "You have a dozen times if not more."

"Well at least I told the truth, there's no need to candy coat everything for you like father does." Kikyo stated haughtily. "Well I must go sister hopefully you'll find some happiness in your poor miserable lifetime."

Kagome watched her sister go without a hint of sadness instead she looked at this moment as quite possibly the happiest moment in her life.

Now she was free from her dreaded half-sister forever, free from the mean comments and put downs, free to no longer live in her shadow, or so she thought…

Kagome watched from her secret spot in the small passageway as her father talked to the young man who had come calling for her sister from what she could tell the man was not only handsome, he was quite angry. Is he the reason why Kikyo fled like she did? If so she could understand why, the man seemed to possess some type of power that demanded respect, and attention. There was something else Kagome couldn't help but notice it was the fear he instilled on all the people he passed even her father, this man had to possess power or status greater than her father, a Baron.

***

"I'm sorry Milord, but my daughter left last night without a word, she just left." The lowly Baron stammered.

Inuyasha should have predicted Kikyo would pull one over like this it didn't surprise him really but it did disappoint him. "You say she didn't say where she was going?" He asked. "Not to anyone."

The man paused in thought. "The only person who spoke to her last night was her half-sister, Kagome." He paused before adding. "She may know where she went."

Surprised with this new bit of information Inuyasha was careful not to seem too interested. "Sister?" He queried. "She never mentioned a sister."

The Baron shook his head sadly before mumbling. "No one ever does, she is after a my bastard."

"Is there anyway I could reach her?"

The older man became shifty. "Yes, but..."

"Yes but what?" Inuyasha pressed.

"You came speak to her as long as you keep her existence." He paused before looking around the room to see if any of the servants were in hearing distance, he was pleased to see none. "A secret."

Inuyasha asked no questions he just nodded in agreement. "Yes, a secret."

"Okay then Milord, follow me."

***

Kagome panicked when she realized they were heading her way slowly but surely she made her way back up the narrow but steep steps. Once she entered her room she stood before her mirror and grimaced at the condition in which she was in, she looked like a ragamuffin. Dirt covered her face, clothing, and her hair was in tangles, but there was nothing she could do about it anyhow, because the sound of heavy footsteps were not far away at all from her locked bedroom door.
