AN: YAY! Paring vote! This vote will determine whom Kagome will end up with in this story. Chapter Four: Terrible Mistake

Kagome smiled brightly at Sesshoumaru. "You said please! I can't believe it, you actually said please?" She watched as Sesshoumaru inclined his head before smiling even wider. "I suppose I could let you come then since you did say please… But, only for a little while okay? I don't want you to have a relapse and faint in the middle of the party then I would have to get someone to carry you up here and you'd be back where you started. Agreed?"

Sesshoumaru listened carefully to the girl's proposition before speaking up. "This, Sesshoumaru agrees to your terms girl." He watched as a frown replaced her smile. "Why do you frown?" Sesshoumaru regarded the girl with caution she was not very pleasant when angered and the scent she gave off was irregularly erotic.

"You could at least call me by my name you know. It would be greatly appreciated. I will be right back, I need to get you something to wear and I'm sure someone in this castle will have something that will fit you. Take a bath before I get back." Kagome looked at Sesshoumaru before opening her door closing it gently behind her as she left her room. Where am I going to find something for him? I should go ask Inuyasha, but he doesn't like Sesshoumaru very much… and Father would never let some random stranger wear anything of his. Kagome walked down the corridor deep in thought stopping at Inuyasha's room before knocking once. "Inuyasha?" She smiled when there was no answer looking down both ways of the corridor before slipping into Inuyasha's room.

Inuyasha stalked down the corridor towards his room. What a god awful day, his still couldn't talk… make noises yes, talk no. Cursing his brother his pushed the door to his room opened to find it clean? Since when had his room been clean? His eyes narrowed the maid had cleaned his room? He took in a deep breath before closing his eyes in bliss, Kagome had been in his room and her scent was everywhere.

Kagome jogged down the corridor back to her room just in case Inuyasha happened to be patrolling like he usually did. She wouldn't know what to say if he saw her with a stack of his clothing. Upon entering her room she called out for Sesshoumaru, who in a matter of seconds came out from her private hot spring, wet and only a towel around his waist.

"You called Kagome?" Sesshoumaru looked up at the girl a pile of clothes at her feet her cheeks a soft pink. The girl started to apologize profusely about intruding on him and some other things he couldn't quite catch even with his superior hearing. "Kagome." He purred. "It's rude for a hime like yourself to talk as fast as you are. No one can understand you."

Kagome could feel the heat rising up on her cheeks. "Gomen Sesshoumaru I just didn't expect… I brought you clothes umm here." She bent down to pick them up handing them to Sesshoumaru. "I got a few things you can try on, they're Inuyasha's I hope you don't mind." She chewed on her lip nervously. "I know you two don't like each other very much and I understand if you don't want to wear those but if you want to come you have too."

Sesshoumaru nodded taking the clothes from her. "This, Sesshoumaru is fine with this arrangement." He felt his lips moving up into a small smile before moving behind the shoji screen to get changed. A few minutes later he emerged behind the screen and heard a small gasp and smirked to himself, as the girl looked him over. Sesshoumaru looked at her suddenly feeling like he was on display and… self-conscious? He didn't feel, he was the Lord of the Western Lands emotions were not part of his vocabulary; he didn't have any he wasn't supposed too.

Kagome gasped in shock as Sesshoumaru stepped out form behind the shoji screen. He was gorgeous, the dark green kimono he had on accentuated his silvery white hair and golden eyes making them stand out more then they already did. "You look like… you look very handsome Sesshoumaru. That kimono suits you better than anyone I could imagine." She looked him over again. "Ummm we have a little bit of time before we need to go to the banquet." She saw him looking at her to continue. "May I braid your hair please?"

Braid his hair? Was the girl insane? Or better yet, was I insane for saying what I am going to say next? "You may braid this, Sesshoumaru's hair." The girl squealed in delight causing Sesshoumaru to wince a little bit before he sat down at her desk with the circular mirror. Sesshoumaru watched as the girl immediately set to work braiding his hair.

Kagome braided Sesshoumaru's hair careful not to pull to hard. She had decided to do a herringbone braid, her personal favourite; it was original and usually different from anyone else who happened to have their hair braided. "There." Kagome secured the braid with a dark green tie to match his kimono. "Finished. What do you think?" She watched as Sesshoumaru turned to face her, why did she always feel the need to impress him?

Sesshoumaru pulled his long silvery-white hair over his shoulder to examine the braid. "This, Sesshoumaru is pleased with this braid. We shall go to the hall now for your banquet Kagome." He stood up walking to the door to leave the room Kagome straightening out her kimono before following him.

"Inuyasha go and get my daughter. Tell her it is time to come here all her guests are here."

Inuyasha bowed his head. He made his way through all the guests moving to open the door but moved back in surprise as it started to open. His jaw dropped when he saw Kagome, she looked beautiful and her silky kimono fit her perfectly moulding along her curves like water. He noticed someone else with her, another suitor? He turned his head a bit to the right and almost snarled.

Sesshoumaru smirked at his brother noticing right away he could still not speak before nodding his head. "Inuyasha."

Kagome could sense the electricity between Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru so she spoke up. "Oh, Inuyasha I hope that you didn't mind me going into your room… I had to get Sesshoumaru a kimono to wear. I cleaned your room as well it was a sty." She smiled brightly before making her way through all the lords and ladies at her banquet making her way to her father her hand holding Sesshoumaru's tightly. "Father." She bowed her head. "This is Sesshoumaru he is my guest for the night you do not mind do you?"

Kagome's Father looked over the man in front of him. He seemed familiar in some way he just couldn't remember perhaps the thought would come to him as the night grew on. "Yes, this is fine Kagome. Do not let it distract you from what you are here to do." He smiled at his daughter sending her off to enjoy herself.

Inuyasha stood beside Miroku his hands tightly clenched at his sides. That Bastard! What the fuck is he playing at? He watched as Kagome danced with his half-brother as well as the other suitors. Inuyasha growled before turning on his heel and leaving the hall.

Miroku watched his friend, concern written across his features. What had gotten him so…oh Kagome dancing with Sesshoumaru? Inwardly swearing Miroku left the hall after Inuyasha to make sure he didn't so something stupid.

Kagome was having the most wonderful time. She had danced a few dances with her suitors and then with Sesshoumaru. He moved so gracefully, it was the most wonderful thing. "Are you enjoying yourself Sesshoumaru?" She got a nod as her response and smiled happily. She was also glad he hadn't seen Kouga or Hojou yet they were so irritating.

"Kagome-koi!"

She sighed. Speak of the devil… "Kouga-sama how nice to see you." She could tell he was going to do something rash he always did, it was embarrassing.

"Kagome-koi." Kouga grinned at Kagome wrapping an arm around his waist still unaware of the youkai behind her. Kouga brought her hand up and kissed it gently. "Would you care to dance?"

Kagome blushed a deep red when Kouga had kissed her hand and wrapped his arm around her waist. "Iie, Kouga I have to decline, gomen ne." She didn't miss the frown that took place of his smile and felt a little bad, but she just didn't want to dance with him.

"Come on Kagome. You've been dancing with him all night! You've hardly danced with me or any of your suitors for that matter." Kouga frowned glaring at the youkai behind her. She still shook her head, what the devil was wrong with her couldn't see that he; Kouga the Wolf Prince loved her? He only wanted a dance even if it was just one.

Sesshoumaru almost dropped his disguise to rip Kouga's throat out. The Wolf Prince had annoyed him one to many times. "I believe the Lady said no Kouga." He moved his arm around Kagome's waist pulling her away from the lustful Prince. He knew Kouga would start yelling, but hopefully he wouldn't have to do anything about it.

Kouga glared at this newcomer, he hadn't seen him before at any of the gatherings before this and the way that he touched HIS, Kagome it was absurd. Kagome was not this pretty boy's she was his. "You have no right to touch her like that! Just who the hell do you think you are?"

Kagome almost panicked she had never seen Kouga so angry before, even though she'd danced with the other she was being displayed too. She looked up at Sesshoumaru worry evident in her eyes he was still injured! Even though he was a youkai Kouga was a youkai as well.

He looked at Kouga as he moved in front of Kagome effectively blocking her from the other youkai's view. "You cannot sense who I am Wolf? You are weaker than I thought and seeing you are here now at this ningen's banquet you are worse then my hanyou brother." Sesshoumaru smirked at the wolf youkai.

"Lord Sesshoumaru!" Kouga went to his knees bowing to the regal taiyoukai and the whole hall was quiet. "Forgive me Lord Sesshoumaru. I did not know you were courting Kagome." Kouga looked at the floor.

Kagome's eyes widened. LORD Sesshoumaru? Nani? What's going on!? She looked at Sesshoumaru and then at Kouga her eyes still wide with disbelief. Why didn't he tell her he was a Lord, she knew he had secrets but the fact you're a Lord doesn't usually escape one's memory.

"This, Sesshoumaru will not punish you for you idiocy Lord Kouga. You will not bother this ningen any longer." Sesshoumaru loved having control over everything, he smirked, he loved control, he loved power, and he loved making fools out of people especially his hanyou brother who would burst through the hall door any second furious and yelling his name Tessaiga drawn.

Inuyasha burst through the hall door snarling as best he could with his wrecked throat Tessaiga drawn and pointed at Sesshoumaru.

"Ah.. I was wondering when you'd be arriving Inuyasha." Sesshoumaru looked at him. "We're you worried about your Kagome hmm Brother? She looks a lot like Kikyou if I do say so myself. Not that it matters because she is dead." Sesshoumaru laughed coldly making everyone in the room shiver with the excepting of Kagome and Inuyasha. He heard Inuyasha growl his eyes almost glowing with anger. "What's the matter brother? Cat got your tongue?" Before Inuyasha could do anything the girl moved so she was standing defiantly in front of him hands on her hips her eyes narrowed. "Hmm?" He could sense everyone fear for the girl wondering what he would do to her, he smirked as he cracked his knuckles his nails lengthening into claws a sickly green poison dripping from them and onto the floor sizzling as it made contact with the wood. His ears grew turning into their elfin form and his eyes closed as an indigo crescent moon appeared on his forehead as blood red stripes appeared on his cheekbones. He heard the girl gasp as his fluffy creamy white tail fell neatly onto the floor around his feet.

"YOU JERK!" Kagome cried out furiously. "WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?!?!" Kagome glared at the taiyoukai eyes narrowed. "You *poke* have *poke* no *poke* right *poke*.." She stopped poking the annoyed Sesshoumaru as he grabbed her wrist twisting it slightly but her mouth kept going. "To wreck my party and no right to tell Kouga what he can and cannot do!"

Inuyasha's mouth dropped… almost… Sesshoumaru was letting Kagome get away with yelling at him and poking his chest? If that were anyone else they would have been six feet under a while ago. He would have shouted at her to stop but his voice still wouldn't work.

Sesshoumaru squeezed the girl's wrist tightly to stop her from poking his chest and got annoyed when she continued to talk. "This, Sesshoumaru may do what he likes wench." He felt a sharp tingling on his cheek before wondering what it was before it hit him. The girl had slapped him, HIM the Great Lord Sesshoumaru. He looked at her and her face was burning an angry red and her dark grey eyes blazing. "You dare hit This, Sesshoumaru?"

"YES THIS, KAGOME DARES TO HIT YOU!" Kagome yelled at him yanking her hand away from his loosened grip. "I DON'T KNOW WHY I BROUGHT YOU DOWN HERE YOU ASS!" Kagome turned on her heel and stormed angrily out of the hall grabbing Inuyasha's arm as she passed him.

Sesshoumaru heard the people in the hall start to whisper to each other as his eyes blazed a bright red. No one walks out on this, Sesshoumaru!
