A/N: Just so you know, in Mika's eyes, not only did Sesshomaru kill Yuki, but also Rika, since it was his birth that inevitably caused her death. That info will come in handy later on. Now, enjoy!

“The answer, hanyou, is this. As a mix of both human and demon, many have no doubt hated you. Your life, I would imagine, is full of tragedy, sorrow, and disappointment. Death would only end your suffering. It would be a welcome release, compared to this world. Though I realize you did not choose this type of life, I do understand that you do not enjoy it. Your father and mother are both dead and gone. (“Yeah. Cause you killed `em!” I muttered silently.) In death, you would be together again, and you would be happy. However, I cannot allow you to achieve such happiness.” “Why? Why can't I be happy?” I asked, nearly shouting at him. “Because, you are a hanyou. Half-demon and half-human. The blood inside of you constantly fights for dominance. Your being is a mistake. Human and demon are not meant to mate. Therefore, you must suffer the rest of your days here on this miserable plane that you call home. And that, hanyou, is why I brought you back.” I was in shock. He had saved me just so I may suffer? I was in such a daze that I almost did not notice him walking away. “Sesshomaru!” He stopped walking. “I will make you pay, Sesshomaru! You will die because of what you did! I promise here and now, you will die by my hand and no one else's.” “That is fine with me, hanyou. We shall meet again one day. That is when we will settle the score.”

Inuyasha sat there, dumbfounded. “You… you were dead?! And he saved you to make you suffer?” Mika nodded, letting a few tears escape from their cobalt cell. “It was a cruel act, indeed. I should have told you sooner, but…” Again, Mika began to cry. Inuyasha pulled her close. “It's okay, Mika. I understand. You don't need to explain.” After a moment of silence, Mika spoke again. “He won't let you die.” “What?” “Sesshomaru. He won't let you die, either. He hates us, you and I. We are half-breeds scum. So long as he lives, so shall you. He will not let you find peace in death.” “I know, Mika. And, I guess, I'm okay with that. I think, as long as you and I are together, life won't have to be a punishment.” Mika smiled and looked up at the silver-haired hanyou. “Maybe he's right. Maybe, from now on, things will be okay.” Slowly, she moved out of Inuyasha's grasp and turned to face him. Slowly, they looked into one another's eyes, cobalt meeting amber. “I love you, Inuyasha.” Inuyasha smiled. “I love you, too, Mika.” Then, beneath the stars, the two hanyou shared a passionate kiss.

The next morning, Inuyasha and Mika walked into the hut together. “Well, where did you two run off to last night?” Kagome asked. Shippo, in his wiser-than-thou attitude, decided to answer for them. “They probably wanted some time alone together. I mean, mating season is coming up soon, so-” THUMP! “Shaddup, ya little rodent!” Inuyasha demanded, striking Shippo's head. “Kagome. Inuyasha's being mean again.” “Inuyasha! Sit!” THUD! Shippo laughed and ran off before the hanyou could stand up again. “Get back here, twerp!” “Kagome!” “Inuyasha! SIT! SIT! SIT!” THUD! THUD! THUD! Miroku sighed. “Just another typical day. Right, Sango?” “Mm-hmm.” “Get over here!” “I don't have to listen to you! I only listen to Kagome!” “Why you!” Mika laughed softly. “These guys are all nuts. I think I'll fit in here just fine!”
