“Morning, sleepyhead!” Inuyasha blinked. The chipper hanyou above him was smiling brightly. Inuyasha groaned and turned back over. “Oh, come on! You can't sleep forever. Just because Kagome `sat' you almost ten times last night does not give you the right to sleep until noon!” Inuyasha mumbled something into the sleeve of his haori. “What did you say?” “I said, shut up so I can sleep!” “Hmmph! Fine! If that's the way you feel, maybe I'll go find Naraku and hang out with him.” Inuyasha bolted upright. “You… you wouldn't really do that… would you, Mika?” Mika smiled inwardly. She wrapped her arms around Inuyasha's neck and whispered softly into his ear. “Why, I could never leave you, Inu-kun.” Her hot breath wafting across his ear caused Inuyasha to shiver. Mika laughed. “Now, come on. I've got something to show you.” Without another word of protest, Inuyasha wandered outside and bounded off after Mika.

After almost an hour of playing `follow the super cheery female hanyou', Inuyasha finally caught up with her at the entrance to a large cave. “Why… are… we... here?” he asked, panting heavily. “You'll see. Come on in.” Suddenly, Mika took hold of Inuyasha's hand and dragged him back into the cave. As they entered, Inuyasha felt a strong wave of energy wash over him. He then looked down to see Mika still holding his hand. “Mika?” She looked back to see Inuyasha blushing, then looked down at her own hand entwined with his. She, too, began to blush. “Heh-heh. Sorry, Inu-kun. I forgot to tell you. A long time ago, I put a spell over this cave. It only allows myself and whomever I bring with me to enter. I figured holding your hand ensures you get in safely. Truthfully, I've never brought anyone here with me before. Until now, I mean.” Then, looking back down, she dropped Inuyasha's hand. Now, Inuyasha began to survey his surroundings. “What is this place?” “It's a cave I used to come to when I was younger.
I hid here from youkai and humans. I made sure that no one ever followed me, until I learned how to put up a barrier. Then, it really didn't matter whether they followed or not.” “How'd you put up a barrier? I mean, last I checked, us inu-hanyou don't have that kinda power.” Mika glanced down to her left wrist. “These beads. My mother gave them to me. She said… they were my seal. And also, had a bit of youkai magic in them. I don't know about the last part, but I do know these help me tap into my youkai blood from time to time. And also, to keep it sealed away.” Inuyasha cocked an eyebrow. “So, she does have a seal. I knew that useless katana wasn't it, or her blood would've erupted when Sesshomaru snapped it in half.” “So, you think maybe Rika may have had some miko powers or something?” Mika shrugged, still staring at the beads. “Dunno. All I know for sure is that these hold some sort of untapped power. Just wish I could figure out how to use it.” Suddenly, Inuyasha's nose twitched. “Herbs and graveyard soil? No, it couldn't be!” “Kikyo's coming.”

Inuyasha raced through the barrier, followed closely by Mika. “Inuyasha? I don't understand. Who's Kikyo?” “I am Kikyo, came a voice. Mika looked towards the horizon to see a young looking woman approaching them. Her long black hair was tied up with a thin white ribbon. Surrounding her were many soul collectors. “So, Inuyasha, the rumors are true. Another hanyou has surfaced. And an inu-hanyou at that. No matter. Just another woman that shall be saddened when I drag you down to hell with me.” Mika's hand grasped the hilt of her broken katana. “Is that a threat?” “Mika, stay back! You don't know who you're dealing with! Kikyo is one of the undead.” Mika smirked, and swiftly pointed her katana at Kikyo. “Well, then, I guess I'll just have to kill her again!” Kikyo laughed, seeing the broken, worn-down sword. “Do you honestly think that rusty katana is going to kill me? I doubt it could even cut a blade of grass. Oh well. I guess you shall learn your lesson the hard way.” Kikyo drew back her bow and fired an arrow straight at Mika. Mika cried out in pain as the arrow pierced her arm. “Mika! Are you okay?” As he stepped towards her, Mika put her dull katana to his throat. “Don't come near me.” “But, Mika, I-” “Look down, Inuyasha. On the ground.” Inuyasha obeyed and immediately gasped. There, amidst the tall blades of grass, was Mika's hand woven udewa (bracelet). “That udewa was all that held my youkai blood back. But, Kikyo's arrow struck it just right. If you come any closer, I can't promise how I'll react. So, please, Inuyasha, just stay away.” Reluctantly, Inuyasha nodded and backed away slowly. “I hope she knows what she's doing.”
