Mika stood erect, not caring about her bleeding arm. A fire seemed to be burning inside of her, one that could only be extinguished through this fight. “Kikyo, if you're looking for a fight, you've found it.” Swiftly, she raced forward and, before Kikyo could react, slashed the nisou (priestess) with her claws. She stopped running, her back to Kikyo now. “So, hanyou, you think you can defeat me? “ Mika turned her head slightly to see Kikyo clutching her bloodied side. “You were dead once, right? That means you can die again.” Kikyo stood at attention as Mika prepared to call out an attack. “Feral strike!” The energy blast was aimed straight at Kikyo's chest. Before it could strike her, however, one of her soul collectors ran into its path. The spirit took the brunt of the attack and vanished. What little energy left only caused Kikyo to lose her footing. “Damn those soul collectors! I bet they'll block all my spiritual attacks. I'll have to think of something else.” Mika glanced down to her discarded udewa. “I wonder…” she said silently. Slowly, she reached down and picked up the beads. Clutching them in her fist, she prepared to attack again. “Kami, I pray, let these beads, this udewa, help me to defeat this undead priestess. And, to Rika, let me discover their true power.”
Looking up at Kikyo, Mika began to speak. “You, Kikyo, died fifty years ago. I knew you not, until I faced you. I had heard tales of an undead woman who roamed these lands. And, from the way Inuyasha reacted upon seeing you, I knew that you were trouble. Because of you, I have lost my seal, my udewa. So, remember this, should I lose my senses and let my youkai blood take over, you will be the first to die.” She raised her left hand, which held the beads. She felt and overwhelming power now surging through her. “Heptagonal crystal blast!” She opened her palm and released an unimaginable about of energy. Seven beams of blue light flew out, all heading for Kikyo. The passed through many soul collectors and lost no amount of force. Finally, all seven beams plunged straight through Kikyo. The nisou screamed in agony as the blue lights consumed her. An explosion of pink melded with the blue and, without any warning, both lights vanished and Kikyo was gone. Inuyasha's eyes were wide. “How the hell did she release that kind of power???” On the ground near where Kikyo had stood, were only arrows, a bow, and Mika's udewa. Mika walked over and bent down. She turned the udewa in her fingers and, suddenly, it wound itself back around her arm. “Interesting,” she said softly. “Thanks, Mom. I know it was you who helped me defeat her.” Inuyasha walked over to her, still in a daze. “Is… is Kikyo really gone?” Mika turned and smiled. “I guess so. I think that last burst of pink may have been her soul escaping that wretched clay body.” Inuyasha nodded. “Kikyo was reborn when Urasue made a clay body and used Kikyo's bones to animate it. She tried to steal Kagome's soul, since she is supposed to be Kikyo's reincarnation, but Kagome took most of her soul back. What little bit remained was probably released just now and returned to Kagome.” “Hey, that reminds me. We better get back to the others before they start to worry.” “Yeah.” As he turned to leave, Inuyasha remembered something. “Hey, Mika?” “Yeah?” “What was it you wanted to show me in that cave anyway?” Mika smiled inwardly. “Oh, nothing important. I'll show you another time.” “Heh-heh. It's actually a good thing Kikyo showed up when she did. I really should keep a few secrets to myself. And that shrine would've been a bit much, I think.” “Come on, Inuyasha. Let's go back and tell the others what happened.” Inuyasha nodded. “On one condition, though, Mika.” `What?” “You let me carry you back.” Mika sighed. “Fine, ya big softy. Not that my injuries are that serious, anyway. I mean, if I wanted to-” “Mika?” “Heh-heh. Sorry. Guess I was rambling.” Mika put her arms around Inuyasha's neck and clung tightly to his back. “Your arm hurt too much to hold me?” “Nah. No kind of pain could ever keep me from holding you, Inuyasha.” Blushing now, Inuyasha muttered something to himself and bounded off towards the hut. “He smells so good,” Mika whispered silently, clinging tightly to her hanyou companion. “I could stay with him forever.”
