Once at the hut, Kagome insisted on tending to Mika's wounds. “Kagome, I'm fine. I'm a hanyou, remember? I heal fast.” “I know, but I just want to make sure. You may be a hanyou, but you're still seriously injured.” “And who wouldn't be after facing Kikyo. That sounded like a tough battle,” Sango said. Inuyasha and Mika had told the others about the battle and how Kikyo was now gone. “Indeed. A strong woman such as you, Mika, would make an excellent wife. Tell me, do you plan on having children, because I-” SMACK! “Miroku, you hentai! She's still recovering and you're already hitting on her?!” Mika laughed. “It's okay, Sango. That's just the way Miroku is. No need to worry about it. Besides,” she added, glancing to Inuyasha, “I'm already involved with someone else.” At this remark, everyone turned to Inuyasha, who merely blushed and turned away form the group. Kagome was a bit flustered by this comment. “Do you mean, uh, you and Inuyasha?” Mika looked at Kagome, realizing she'd made a mistake. “Well, uh, I mean, Inuyasha and I are very close friends. If I became involved with Miroku, that could, um, ruin their friendship. I wouldn't want to be the cause of that.” “Although,” she added in her head, “I probably just ruined the one he has with Kagome.”
Wounds treated and beginning to heal, Mika wandered outside to think. “Inuyasha and I have become pretty close over the last few days. Perhaps too close. I don't want to hurt Kagome, but I really want to be with Inuyasha.” Mika sighed loudly. “I just don't know what to do.” “About what?” Mika turned to see Inuyasha staring at her. “Nothing, Inuyasha. Please, just go away.” “Not until you tell me what's wrong.” Mika could tell the inu-hanyou wasn't going to budge. “I... I need to know where I stand Inuyasha.” “Huh? What're you talking about?” “What I mean is, um, Inuyasha, are we just friends? Or, could we be more than that?” Inuyasha began to blush and tried to come up with an answer. “I, uh, well, ya see, um, we're kinda, um, I… don't know.” “Tell me, Inuyasha. Do you love Kagome more than me? I need to know.” “I… I just don't know, Mika. Honestly, I love the both of you. I don't think I can choose.” Mika sighed. She was never going to get a straight answer out of him. “It's just, I mean, don't you think it's weird having both women you love travel together. I can't even show my affections for you without fear of hurting Kagome. I love you, Inuyasha, but I don't want to hurt Kagome. I think… maybe it would be best if I traveled alone again.” “Mika-“ But, before Inuyasha could finish, a cry broke out from within the hut, followed by a large crash. The two hanyou raced back to find the hut destroyed and the others sitting near the wreckage, all breathing heavily. “Kami, what happened?!” Mika asked in alarm. “It was... Sesshomaru. He… attacked us,” Kagome managed to say. At the moment, everything seemed calm. “Well, then, where the hell is Sesshomaru now?” “Right behind you, little brother.”
The group turned to see Sesshomaru standing there, Tokyjin drawn and ready for battle. “I've come back to finish what we stared, Mika. I heard what you did to Kikyo and I'm impressed. Perhaps you aren't as weak as I originally thought.” From above, a voice rang out. “Sesshomaru, let's hurry up and get this over with!” Down floated Kagura, atop her giant feather. “What the hell are you doing here, Kagura?” Inuyasha asked as he drew Tetsuiga. “Simple, Inuyasha. I've been instructed to come here. If that vile beast didn't hold my heart in his hands, I'd never even try to cross your path.” “Watch what you say, Kagura. That vile beast is directly behind you.” Kagura turned to see Naraku behind her. “So, the gang's all here, huh? Great. I've been itchin' to fight for a long time.” Inuyasha raised his Tetsuiga, ready to strike. “Don't start without me, Inuyasha.” Inuyasha looked to see Mika and the others right beside him. Kagome, arrow ready, was deep in thought. “Well, this is it, the final showdown. I just hope we can beat them.”
