A few days after their immense battle, Inuyasha decided he was ready to search for Kagome. “Come on, Mika! My injuries are healed already. Plus, if we wait too long, Kagome could die from her injuries.” Mika sighed. She knew she could never defeat Inuyasha; he was just too damn stubborn. “Okay, Inuyasha. We can go look, but let's at least take Kirara. My legs still hurt from before.” “Fine. Now let's go.
Within seconds, the two hanyou and their kitsune companion were on their way. “Yay, we're gonna find Kagome!” Inuyasha muttered something about the runt being too happy, which Mika chose to ignore. She sat atop the back of the large two-tail, trying to sort through her thoughts. “I've only known Inuyasha for a little while, but I feel as if I've known him my entire life. I think I'm in love, but, at times, I'm not so sure. Inuyasha and I, we're practically soul mates. We've been through the same kinds of struggles and overcome the same adversities. But, is this really love I'm feeling?” Suddenly, Inuyasha pulled her close to him. “Inuyasha? What're you- “But Mika found herself cut off by his strong lips. Mika glanced down and saw he was covering Shippo's eyes with one hand and holding her with the other. Mika returned the kiss and the two parted. Then, Inuyasha whispered something in Mika's ear. “Mika, I want you to know something. You are the best thing that's ever happened to me. The truth is, I think I love you, Mika, but I'm just not sure. I mean, I thought I loved Kagome, but when you showed up, it was almost as if she was out of the picture. But, I want you to know Mika, no matter what happens, I'll always love you.” Inuyasha hugged her tightly and moved his hand from Shippo's face. “Aw, man. I never get to see the good stuff.” Inuyasha and Mika laughed. Suddenly, they noticed the hair on Kirara's back was now bristly and standing on end. Both sniffed the air, a familiar scent entering their nostrils. Almost in unison, they said, “Kagura.”
“Hah. So you've found me, or rather, you've simply come out of hiding. Kagome misses you, Inuyasha.” Inuyasha growled fiercely, ready to jump off the back of the two-tail and sink his claws into Kagura. Mika held him back, knowing how far the drop was. “Kagura, where the hell are you keeping Kagome?” “Wouldn't you like to know, Inuyasha? If you're so curious, then why don't you try and catch me?” Swiftly, Kagura raced off. “Follow her!” Inuyasha yelled. Kirara growled and picked up speed. Shippo flew backwards and began clinging tightly to Mika's leg. Kagura was fast, but not too fast for Kirara. Finally, after minutes of chasing, Kagura dipped down close to a small river and disappeared behind a large waterfall. Kirara ducked through the water, soaking everyone who sat atop her. Then suddenly, Kirara stopped. “Hey, why are we stopping?” Shippo asked. Mika, Shippo still hanging on to her leg, and Inuyasha jumped off the two-tail's back, allowing her to transform back to her smaller form. Mika walked forward a few feet and found her path blocked by a barrier. “No good, Inuyasha. Kagura out up a barrier to keep us out. I don't think even Tetsuiga can break this thing.” Inuyasha was now frustrated. “How the hell an I supposed to rescue Kagome if I can't get to her?” Then, Inuyasha's eyes fell on the blue, violet-streaked scabbard holding Mika's sword. “Mika?” “Hmm?” “Could your sword break the barrier?” Mika was taken aback. “My sword? You mean Kataki? (A/N: `Kataki' means revenge. I figured it'd be a good name for Mika's sword.) I suppose, I mean, I haven't tried it before. I guess there's no harm in trying.” Mika unsheathed her katana and pointed it towards the barrier. “Do you think I need to call out an attack?” “Probably.” “Okay. Um, Crystal Hex!” The Kataki flew out of Mika's hands and went forward, shattering Kagura's barrier. Mika put her right hand out in front of her and called, “Kataki, come.” The katana shook and flew back into her hand. Mika out the sword back in its scabbard and turned towards the dumbfounded hanyou beside her. “Come on, Inuyasha. Let's go find Kagome.” Inuyasha broke free from his trance and walked beside Mika, kitsune and two-tail following behind. “Hey, what about these two?” Mika thought for a second, then said, “Let them come. We can use all the help we can get. Plus, with them here, we can make a quick getaway.” Shippo smiled. “Thanks, Mika. Inuyasha never let's us come along.” Inuyasha grumbled and together, the four of them walked forward into the unknown.
