Inside of the cave, it was almost pitch black. Kirara, who had extremely good eyesight (A/N: Hey, she's like a cat, so I figure she can see in the dark.), led the way. Shippo sat on her back while Inuyasha and Mika followed close behind. Suddenly, the group heard a noise behind them. Mika fearfully shrieked and grasped Inuyasha tightly. “Fox fire!” Shippo yelled, throwing blue flames in the direction of the noise. The fire lightened up the cave and saw a small mouse scurrying by. Inuyasha looked over at Mika, who appeared to be blushing. Embarrassed, she let go of the male hanyou. “Sorry, Inuyasha. I… guess I got kinda spooked.” Inuyasha simply shrugged and continued walking. Mika cursed in her head, feeling so stupid for acting the way she did. “Why the hell did I just do that? I got freaked out over a mouse? What am I, a three-year-old human? I'm an inu-hanyou, dammit; I'm braver than this. Why is it that I feel so helpless when Inuyasha's around?” Mika sighed and continued walking. Inuyasha looked at Mika, seemingly embarrassed by what had occurred. “I wonder why the hell she jumped on me when we heard that noise? It's not like she's helpless, I mean, she is a hanyou. Maybe I should do something to make her feel better.” Hesitantly, Inuyasha walked up beside Mika and grasped her hand. Shocked slightly by the feel of Inuyasha's warm skin, Mika shuddered involuntarily. Inuyasha loosened his grip, thinking he had hurt her. “It's okay, Inuyasha. You don't need to let go,” he heard Mika whisper. Inuyasha smiled slightly and held her hand tighter. “I'll never let go, Mika.”
Finally, after wandering aimlessly through the dark, dank cave, the reached a large opening, lit by many candles. “So, do we follow this passage? I mean, it could be a trap,” Mika asked, unsure of what action to take. “I say we go, even if it is a trap, it's a sure bet that Kagura will be part of it. A battle may be the only way to get any answers out of her.” Mika smiled, her fangs illuminated by the candles, and squeezed Inuyasha's hand playfully. “Okay. Let's go then. Kirara, Shippo, stay on your toes. If this is a trap, we can't let Kagura have the upper hand. “Alright, Mika,” the kitsune agreed, trying to balance on Kirara's back while on his tiptoes, then falling flat on his face. Mika laughed. “I didn't mean literally, Shippo. I just meant to be ready. Shippo frowned slightly and sat back down. Inuyasha smirked after Shippo's interesting performance. “He resembles a certain hanyou I know who falls on his face almost 24/7.” Inuyasha fingered his rosary and said, “Feh. I bet Kagome will be so glad we rescued her that she'll rip off this rosary and set me free.” “Doubt it, but I guess it's possible.” “Now that we agree, let's go kick Kagura's ass.”
At the end of the bright tunnel, the group found a locked door blocking their path. “Let's just smash through it and save Kagome!” Shippo yelled loudly. Mika laughed. “I think you've been hanging around with Inuyasha too much, Shippo. Don't worry, we'll get Kagome back soon enough. In the meantime, let's figure how to open this door.” Inuyasha grasped the hilt of his Tetsuiga and sheathed it. “I think I have a pretty good idea. Wind Scar!” Mika stared at the door as Inuyasha called out his attack, her eyes wide with terror “No, Inuyasha! Don't-” WHAM! The attack bounced off of the door and the attack hit the group full force, knocking them backwards. “What the hell happened?” Inuyasha asked, rubbing the top of his head. “I was trying to warn you. There was a spell written in Kanji on the door. Any attack we try will be reflected back at us.” “So, how the hell do we break the door down?” Mika looked down at her Kataki, the violet streaks on its scabbard glowing brightly. “We fight magic with magic!”
