Three weeks had passed since Kagome left and Mika decided to work on building her relationship with Inuyasha. But first, she was going to surprise him with a little suggestion. She ran over to the well where he happened to be sitting. “Hey, Inuyasha?” Inuyasha turned to face her. “Yeah? What's up?” “I was just thinkin', why don't we visit Kagome today? We can take Shippo and Kirara, too.” Inuyasha's ears twitched noticeably. “You… you wanna go see Kagome?” “Your ears broken or something? Yes, I want to see Kagome! She was my friend too, Inuyasha, you know that.” Inuyasha smiled and hugged Mika tightly. “Great idea, Mika.” Mika blushed and wriggled out of Inuyasha's grasp. “Now, let's not do that around Kagome or she might get jealous.” Inuyasha slugged Mika playfully as she spoke again. “Where's Shippo at, anyway?” Inuyasha gestured beside him, where Shippo was curled up peacefully with Kirara. Mika smiled and said, “It'd be a shame to wake him, but I know he'll wanna see Kagome.” Suddenly, Shippo began to stir. “Did… did someone say Kagome?” “Yeah, runt, we were gonna go visit her, but since you're still asleep…” Shippo was now wide-awake. “Waaa! I wanna go! I wanna go!” Mika laughed and picked up the annoyed kitsune. “Don't worry, Shippo. We'd never leave you, you know that.” Shippo sniffed and smiled at Mika. Inuyasha groaned and picked up Kirara. “Hey, Mika? Are you sure you can get through the well. I mean, you've never tried before have you?” Mika shook her head. “No, but you can. Maybe it'd be best if we hold hands, you know, to make sure we all get through.” Inuyasha grinned slyly and wrapped his arm around Mika's waist. “Well, if that's the case, then this way is even safer.” Mika giggled as all four jumped through the well to see their friend.

 

At the Higurashi estate, Kagome sat outside the well shrine brushing her hair. “I sure miss Inuyasha. I can't believe it's been almost a month already. Did I make the right decision to come back?” Suddenly, she heard a large crash from within the shrine. She dropped her brush and rushed inside to find Inuyasha lying on the floor with Mika, Shippo and Kirara sprawled on top of him. “Get the hell off of me!” Inuyasha roared. Quickly, Mika and the others scrambled off and rushed to the other side of the shrine. Kagome laughed. “Inuyasha, you're still as stubborn as ever I see.” Inuyasha's eyes went wide as he saw the raven-haired nisou standing before him. “Ka…Kagome?” “Who else?” Inuyasha embraced Kagome, surprising her greatly. “Inuyasha, since when do you hug me?” “Since I haven't seen you for almost a month.” Mika smiled as Shippo raced over and latched onto Kagome's leg. “Kagome, I missed you so much!” Kagome laughed. “I missed you too, Shippo. Hey, I have an idea. Let's all go inside. I've got ramen and pocky!” A sparkle appeared in Inuyasha and Shippo's eyes as they ran into the main house. Kagome just shook her head. “Boys will be boys. So, how are you, Mika?” she asked as her friend stepped forward. “Alright, I suppose. Inuyasha's been pretty out of it. He doesn't even mention the jewel shards. All he does is sit by the well all day. He must really miss you, Kagome.” “I'll bet. It was a really hard decision to leave, but I knew I had to do it. My place is here with my family, not in the past. So, what about you and Inuyasha? Have you, you know?” Mika blushed deeply. “No, um, we haven't progressed that far yet, but, perhaps soon…” Kagome smiled and picked up Kirara, who mewed in response. “Come on then. Let's go make sure those guys don't tear my house apart.”

 

After stuffing their faces, Inuyasha and Shippo passed out on the couch. Kirara rested comfortably next to Buyo and Mika and Kagome began to talk. “Inuyasha's been kinda lost without me, huh?” “Yeah. I don't know if he'll ever be the same. He truly wants you back Kagome.” “I know he does, but he's got to realize that I can't come back. I have to stay in this time, my time. Besides, he has you, Mika, he doesn't need me.” “I know that, but he sure doesn't.” Slowly, Shippo and Inuyasha began to wake up. “Guess we've got to go now, huh?” “Guess so. Come on, I'll walk out to the well with you guys.”
