Chapter 2: The Kyuusai Dorms
“Hey Kagome I get to come visit you guys at the dorms, right?” Souta asked.
It was Monday now and had been 3 days since Kagome had found out that she had been accepted into Kyoto University. For the last few days Miroku, Sango and herself had been doing nothing but partying and celebrating with their families. They had finally decided to spend the next two days packing everything that they would want with them at the dorms. Miroku had even suggested not seeing each other and just focusing on packing, which would be hard for them since they were always with one another. But it would all be worth it in the end, because on Tuesday they would be going to get settled in and sign up for classes. Now, Kagome was in her room packing a few last minute things in boxes while her little brother sat on her bed helping her decide what should stay at the house and what should go with her to college.
“Of course Souta, Sango and Miroku would be disappointed if you didn't come to visit us,” Kagome smiled over at her brother while she wrapped a glass figurine of a dog up in bubble wrap and placed it into a box.
“Kagome why do you keep that thing? You know who gave it to you,” Souta said bitterly.
“Now Souta just because we both hate him for leaving doesn't mean we have to hate the things he gave us,” Kagome explained.
“But doesn't it remind you of him?” Souta asked again.
“Nah, but even if it did I've learned to deal with it,” Kagome whispered as she remembered her 13th birthday when Inuyasha had given her the glass figurine.
*~*FLASH BACK*~*
On the day of her birthday Inuyasha had led Kagome home from school with a blindfold covering her eyes. When they had reached Kagome's house Inuyasha had to give her a little push up the stairs because she was afraid of falling since she couldn't see. As they reached Kagome's bedroom door Inuyasha slowly opened it and lifted the blindfold off Kagome's head at the same time. Kagome blinked a few time adjusting to the light but once she could see clearly she let out a loud gasped. Miroku and Sango had left school right as it let out and now Kagome knew why. They were standing in front of her holding a sign that said: Happy Birthday Kagome!! And on her bed sat many gifts some from her family but most from her three best friends.
“Oh My Gosh, you guys!!!!!!! You didn't have to do all this!!!” Kagome shouted as she hugged all three of them.
Once Kagome had opened the gifts and blew the candles out on her cake they sat in the kitchen eating happily and talking. After about an hour Sango and Miroku had to leave to go home leaving Inuyasha and Kagome alone in the kitchen.
“I still can't believe you guys did all this,” Kagome smiled over at Inuyasha who was stuffing his face with chocolate cake.
“Oh yeah that reminds me,” Inuyasha said after he swallowed the cake that he had just shoved into his mouth.
He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a strangely shaped, wrapped gift.
“Here you go,” He tossed the gift across the table into Kagome lap.
“Inu, you already got me so much………I can't take this,” Kagome gasped.
“Don't be stupid, take it,” laughed Inuyasha.
Kagome slowly unwrapped the gift revealing a glass dog figurine. Her eyes sparkled as she stared at it. Finally bringing her eyes from the dog she looked up at Inuyasha.
“Inuyasha, it's so beautiful, thank you,” Kagome ran around the table and hugged her half-demon friend.
“Don't mention it,” Inuyasha hugged back.
“I love this present the most and whenever I see it I'll think of you,” Kagome said thoughtfully.
*~*END OF FLASH BACK*~*
Kagome came back to reality when she heard her cell phone ring. While Souta continued to pack things up in the boxes Kagome gabbed her phone and checked the caller ID. Seeing that it was Sango she picked up.
“Hey, what's up?” Kagome asked.
“I can't find it!!!” Sango cried out.
Kagome just rolled her eyes. Sango was kinda breaking the whole, “focusing on packing,” rule that they had made because she kept on calling Kagome every 10 minutes either seeing how her packing was coming along or complaining that she couldn't find something.
“What can't you find?” Kagome sighed.
“My black converses with the pink laces!!! You know those are my favorite shoes,” Sango whined.
“Calm down Sango. Um…..didn't you wear them when we went to the park last week? I think you took them off and left them in Miroku's car,” Kagome said while thinking back to last week.
“Oh yeah I remember that, thanks Kagome. I guess I'll call Miroku in a few minutes then,” Sango sighed.
“Ok well I have some more crap to pack, so see you tomorrow?” asked Kagome.
“Yeah, later,” Sango answered.
After Sango hung up, Kagome went back to packing. Around three in the afternoon all the packing was done and Kagome and Souta decided to take a break before having to carry the boxes out to Kagome's car. They both made their way down stairs and into the kitchen to find both of their parents and grandfather talking.
“Hey gramps,” Souta shouted as he ran to his grandfather and gave him a hug.
Their grandfather owned a shrine that was about 10 minutes away. He came over a lot but Souta and Kagome never got tired of seeing him. Though he always liked to talk about the past and it got boring sometimes, their grandfather was a pretty cool person.
“Why hello there Souta,” said Gramps as he returned the hug. He then turned to Kagome and said, “Hey there Kagome, I heard about you getting into Kyoto University. You must be very excited”
“Yeah I can't wait,” Kagome smiled as she walked towards a cabinet and pulled out two ramens.
“Do you know what you want to major in?” Gramps asked.
“Not yet, but Sango, Miroku, and I are going tomorrow to get our dorms and we're going to check the classes out then,” Kagome answered as she prepared the food and then set it on the table for her brother and herself.
“Oh that reminds me Kagome. Your mother and I have a little surprise for you when you go tomorrow,” Mr. Higurashi smiled down at his daughter.
“Really? What is it!!!” Kagome said with excitement.
“Well you'll have to wait until you get to the dorms. It's nothing big but we're sure you'll like it,” Mrs. Higurashi explained.
“You guys are just making me more excited to get over there,” laughed Kagome as she happily ate her ramen.
The whole Higurashi family sat around for more then an hour talking about what classes they thought Kagome should take. Gramps suggested The History of Japan and the Feudal Era which Kagome just rolled her eyes at. Her dad suggested signing up for Astronomy, it was a fun class but you still had to work for a good grade. Kagome's mom just suggested looking around when she went up to the college and see what kind of class they had. And all Souta said was she should take classes like Basketball, Bad Mitten, and soccer, which were classes you didn't get any credits in so they wouldn't be helpful.
After the long talk, Souta and Kagome went upstairs and one box at a time carried them out to the car. Kagome had two big boxes filled with her clothes, one small box filled with her 4 pairs of shoes and bed sheets, one box filled with posters that she would hang up on the walls, one box filled with all her bathroom things, and two more big boxes filled with random things. As they made their last trip down the stairs Kagome's dad asked,
“My goodness Kagome. How many boxes are you taking?”
“Well you know how much junk I have up in my room, and I just wanted to take a lot of it I guess. You know, to make it feel like home,” Kagome sighed as she and Souta walked out the door.
“…….Girls,” Mr. Higurashi shook his head as he walked away.

Tuesday Morning
*Ring, ring*
Kagome's cell phone rang waiting to be picked up. Her eyes slowly opened and glared at the noise that had woken her up. She made an attempt to grab the phone but her eyesight was still a bit blurry so her hand ended up missing it. `I swear I'm gonna kill the person who's calling me,' cursed Kagome as her slender fingers finally found themselves grabbing hold of the chattering phone.
“Mushi, mushi,” Kagome growled angrily as she picked up the phone.
“You sound grumpy. *Sigh* You just woke up didn't you?” Miroku's voice asked from the other line.
“Maybe,” Kagome grumbled as she rolled over onto her back looking up at the ceiling.
“Well you better wake up cuz you told all of us we were meeting at the main college building at 11:00 and it's 10:30 right now. You know it's like a 45 minute drive,” scolded Miroku.
Kagome looked over at her clock to see that it WAS 10:30. She hopped out of bed and ran to her closet to find that……….nothing was in it. She had forgotten that everything was packed up. Then she remembered that last might she had picked out an outfit and had placed it in her bathroom.
“Damn it. Alright, I'll leave in a minute just have to get some clothes on,” Kagome sighed as she ran to the bathroom, locked the door and start to pulled off her pjs.
“Are you changing right now?” Miroku asked and by the sound of his voice you could tell he had a smirk on his face.
“Ahh, don't be a pervert right now Miroku. I'm already going to kill you for waking me up,” Kagome voice was dripping with venom.
“um…..hehehe, ok then. See when you get there,” Miroku laughed nervously before hanging up.
Kagome set down her phone and then pulled a red tank top that had the Japanese flag on it over her head. Then she slipped into a knee length jean skirt before brushing her teeth and pulling her hair into a ponytail. Once she checked herself over in the mirror she shoved her phone into her pocket, grabbed her car keys that were sitting on her desk and ran down the stairs. She found her brother watching TV and her parents talking in the kitchen.
“Ok bye guys! I'm late for meeting with Sango and Miroku. Once I figure out what my classes are and once we're settled in I'll come back to tell you everthing,” Kagome said before kissing everyone on the head and sprinting out the door, since she had already wasted about five minutes.

At Kyoto University's Main Building
Kagome had reached the college in record time, 30 minutes. Which meant it that it was now 11:05. `Yes I'm only five minutes late,' Kagome sighed to herself as she pulled up to Miroku's black Corvette that was parked in front of the building. Kagome hurried out of the car and ran into the building to see Miroku and Sango sitting on a couch near the entrance.
“Ok I'm here, sorry guys,” Kagome said as she tried to catch her breath.
“That's fine Kagome, you're here that's all that matters,” Sango smiled as she and Miroku walked over.
“Oh yeah and this is for you,” Kagome growled as she punched Miroku on the arm.
“Ouch, God Kagome, that hurt,” Miroku rubbed his arm.
“It better hurt,” Kagome said as all three walked towards a large desk that sat in the middle of the room.
They found a young lady sitting at the desk going though piles of papers and answering a phone every once in a while. The threesome stood there for a few minutes until Kagome decided to say something.
“Excuse me, can you help us?”
The lady looked up from her work and gave the three a surprised look, like she hadn't even known that they had been standing there.
“I'm sorry, what can I do for you?” the lady asked in a sweet voice.
“Well we were wondering if you could tell us what dorm rooms we will be staying in,” Kagome said in an annoyed voice.
“Name?”
“Higurashi, Kagome,”
“Ok Ms. Higurashi you are in the Kyuusai dorms, those are our best dorms. Anyway you're on floor 3, room number 106. It says here that your room mate's name is Sango Nakamaru,” the lady told Kagome with a smile.
Kagome's eyes grew big and a smile danced across her face as she turned to Sango. Sango had the same look on her face too. `So that's what the surprise was, cuz there is so way that this is a coincidence,' Kagome laughed to herself, `I'll have to thank them later.'
“You guys are lucky, I wonder who I have?” Miroku sighed as he stepped in front of the two beaming girls.
“Name?” the lady asked again.
“Why hello there,” Miroku looked down at the ladies name tag, “Angela, my name is Yoshida, Miroku.”
“Yoshida, Miroku? Ah, here we are. You are also in the Kyuusai dorms, floor 3, room number 115. Um……..there isn't a name of your roommate but I can tell you that his side of the room as been put under the name Inu Tashio, which I am to believe, is a family members name. Also we had a call earlier that he will be late arriving for the first semester,” Angela said after looking through a few papers.
“That's kinda weird,” Kagome budded in.
“A little, but stuff happens, you know? And we get calls like that every once in a while so nothing to worry about,” Angela explained and then added, “Also, you guys are freshmen right? Your counselor is Mrs. Shinwa so when you come to register she's the one you'll need to talk to.”
“Ok thank you Angela,” Sango smiled.
“Um, is there anything else you need?” Angela said.
“Well I was wonder if you would consider going out with a charming man like me?” Miroku asked with a smile making Angela blush.
“Ok, that's enough for you Romeo,” Sango hissed as she grabbed Miroku's left ear and dragged him out the door.
Sango, Kagome, and Miroku walked over to the Kyuusai dorms and made their way up the stairs towards their new home for the next four years. As they reached the 3rd floor they found that room 106 was at one end of the hall and room 115 was on the other end. A little disappointed that their rooms weren't closer together, all three entered Kagome's and Sango's room first.
The dorm room was actually quite large, not what they were expecting. As they walked in through the door they walked down a very short passage way. There was a door on the right side and when they open they found a small kitchen. There was a refrigerator, a microwave, cabinets, a few drawers, and a table. There was also a wooden screen above a contour and once they opened it they saw that it connected to a nice sized living room with a coach and a small TV. Behind the coach there were two desks, one on each ends of the wall.
They walked out of the kitchen and into the living room. To the left there was one more door, which had to of lead to the bedroom. Once opening the door they saw the beds with a nightstand in between. There was a closet to the right, and a window that over looked the campus nearby to the left, and a dresser with four drawers against the wall in front of the beds.
“Damn, our parents must have paid a lot extra to get us rooms like these,” Sango said in awe.
“No shit,” Miroku agreed as he flopped onto one of the beds and then added, “My room better be this sweet!!”
After looking around a while longer they walked over to Miroku's dorm to find it just as amazing as theirs. They finally decided that they would unpack later and that they should go sign up for classes, which meant that they would have to walk back over to the main building and find out where the registration room was. So after sitting around for a while they walked back down the stairs and over to the main building. As they walked in the door they saw a sign that hadn't been there before, it said: Registration is in the Main Info Building, 1st floor, rooms 24-28. Open from 11:45-4:00PM everyday until semester starts.
“Um……wow that helped out a lot,” Sango said as they walked past the sign, down the hall that was labeled: Rooms 1-35.
They searched the hall until they found the four rooms. Over one of the rooms the name Mrs. Shinwa hung, and under the door there was a few people standing in a line. `Should have seen this coming,' all three thought to themselves at the same time. They slowly made their way into the line behind five other freshmen.
“Well I guess it's good that we got here now instead of later,” Miroku sighed as he rested his shoulders against the wall.
After waiting in line for 45 minutes and then talking to the counselor for about ten more minutes each, they finally had their college classes all figured out. They even ended up getting a few classes together. And even though the minimum classes you had to take was four Kagome decided to take an extra class.
Miroku's schedule:
1.History of Dance, Monday mornings @ 11:00am
2. Video and Broadcasting, Tuesday @ 3:00pm
3. Chemistry, Thursday @ 7:00pm
4. Latin, Friday @ 1:00pm
Sango's schedule:
1.History of Dance, Monday morning @ 11:00am
2.Video and Broadcasting, Tuesday @ 3:00pm
3.English 101, Wednesday @ 8:00am
4.Caculus, Thursday @ 6:00pm
Kagome's schedule:
1.Sketch and Painting, Monday @ 1:00pm
2.Video and Broadcasting, Tuesday @ 3:00pm
3.Physis, Thursday 11:00am
4. Calculus, Thursday @ 6:00pm
5. Astronomy, Friday @ 9:pm
“What the Hell are you taking Latin for?” Sango asked Miroku.
“I don't know. There were only three classes I really wanted to take and we HAVE to take at least four classes,” Miroku shrugged as they walked down the hall.
They were heading back to their dorms so that they could unpack all their stuff. As they turned the corner how ever, they saw some one they were really hoping not to see ever again.
“Huh, I thought they didn't let bitches and whores into this school,” screeched an unpleasant voice.
“Yeah, you right Kikyo………..so why are you here then?” Kagome smirked as she crossed her arms.
“Fuck you, Higurashi,,” Kikyo glared at the threesome.
“Right back at ya, Kiky-hoe,” Miroku winked making Kikyo's face fume up into flames.
“Were is you're little ass of a boy-friend anyway? Shouldn't you be stripping for him or something?” Sango asked while laughing.
“Naraku is over at my car unpacking everything for your info,” Kikyo hissed as she walked by them and slammed shoulders with Kagome.
Once Kikyo was out of sight Sango, Miroku, and Kagome broke out in laughter. It had been a whole summer since they had gotten to mess with Kikyo like that. Kikyo had been the slut of the school for most of her life and had always hated Kagome. Ever since the 7th grade Kikyo had found a need to bug Kagome and her friends and Kagome always sat back and took it. But once Junior year rolled around Kagome started to fight back, she didn't want to take Kikyo's crap anymore.
“God, I feel bad for the person who gets that monster for a roommate,” Miroku said between his fits of laughs.
“Ok, ok now we need to get serious. We have some major unpacking to do,” Kagome sighed as they entered the dorms.
