~~Chapter 23: Accusations~~
“To the left, doll.”
Kagome did as she was instructed, slightly turning her body to the left. The cold ocean water crashed over her back, making her shiver. She had to fight to keep her teeth from chattering. She looked at the camera, another wave spilling water on to her.
`Good Kami, this is so cold!'
“That's good, Kagome. C'mon baby, look fiercer.”
Kagome adjusted the cup of the golden bathing suit and shook her head slightly. She looked at her photographer, a man that was very thin. Upon arriving to the beach, Kin had instructed her to proceed to the changing room. She would be featured on a very big sports magazine and to make her debut on the front cover, she would be modeling a golden bathing suit on the beach. Numerous shots had been taken already by the rocks of the beach, on the sand. The front cover, however…that would be in hip-deep water. After posing for what seemed an eternity, the photographer finally put his camera down. He gave Kagome a smile.
“Good girl, Kagome. That was very well done.” He said, winking at her and telling the other workers to put away the equipment. Kagome almost ran out of that cold water, shivering and her teeth chattering. Kin laughed as he helped her in to her robe.
“Humans,” he muttered, but rubbed Kagome's arms in an effort to make the miko warmer. Kagome sighed when the make-up artist grabbed her and started to take off the make-up she had put on Kagome.
“You're really beautiful,” she commented, brown eyes glancing at Kagome's face. The girl blushed.
“Thank you.”
“You're welcome. But honestly, you are very beautiful, without all this make-up. I'm sure you'll sell out that magazine when your picture prints on the front cover.” Kagome chuckled.
“I'm not that gorgeous,” She said. The woman shook her head.
“Honey, I've been working with these models for decades. Some are only beautiful because of make-up, the tricks. Few are truly beautiful underneath all this. I think you're one of the most beautiful natural models I've seen.”
Kin gave her a grin and Kagome blushed furiously. “T-Thank you…”
The make-up artist laughed and continued to wipe Kagome's face clean. The woman looked over at Kin, gave him a tiny smile. “Is this your boyfriend?”
Kagome shook her head. “He's my manager,” she pointed out. Kin shrugged. “He's the nephew of my fiancé.”
The make-up artist mumbled an apology before putting her things away and bidding them goodbye. Kagome changed and when she came out of the trailer Kin was already with her bag packed and ready to go. She smiled. “You're so thoughtful, Kin.”
He gave her a dashing smile. “Why thank you, Kagome.”
“Ruby is very lucky to have you.” Kagome commented when Kin started to walk towards the car. He looked back at her, sapphire eyes taking a glaze.
Kin snorted. “She pushed me away.”
“What?” Kagome asked, putting down the brush. Her eyebrows disappeared under her bangs.
“Yeah, said she `wasn't the girl for me'.” Kin made a face. Kagome frowned.
“Did you ever think she was your mate?”
“Yeah, she feels like my mate. Sh-She doesn't know what I am yet, though. Not like she'll want to know now…”
Kagome shook her head. “I'm sure you two can work out your differences.” She smiled “She'll love you anyway, she's a very smart and beautiful girl, Kin.”
Kagome looked at him only to see Kin's face drop. He sighed heavily. “She's afraid.”
“What do you mean?”
Kin gripped the steering wheel tighter. “Kagome, h-have you ever been afraid of Uncle's touch?”
Kagome gasped and felt her cheeks redden painfully. “K-Kin…I-I d-d---”
“Kagome, just…not like that.” Kin grumbled, bringing the car to a stop at a red light. “I mean, like any caress.”
Kagome frowned. “Ruby is afraid of you?”
Kin nodded, wrinkling his nose. “I'm going to trust you with something, Kagome. I kissed her once and,” he blushed. “And when I touched her, she was afraid of me. I could smell is all over her. For days I couldn't figure out what was wrong with her. And when she finally told me…I can't touch her, Kagome.”
Kagome wrinkled her nose in disapproval. “Is it that hard to keep your hands to yourself for a while?”
“You don't get it. She's afraid of men, Kagome. That's why she was freaked out when I got close, that's why I had to ask four times for her to go to the annual party of the company a month ago. That's why she dodged my kisses.”
“What are you talking about?”
Kin sighed. “She was raped, Kagome.” He said quietly, sighing and jerking the car to a stop near a gas station. “Her fucking uncle raped her when she was twelve.” Kagome gasped and turned an incredulous stare at him.
`Oh Kami, he better not be kidding.'
`Look at him Kagome, he isn't. He looks depressed.'
“Kin…”
“He raped her, Kagome.” He choked out, glaring at the steering wheel. “She got pregnant because of that bastard. B-But she…she lost the pup. She's terrified when I kiss her, she says she's not, but I can smell it. How can I convince my mate to be with me when she's afraid of me? How can I tell her I'm youkai and I'm a monster with claws, fangs, and freakish strength? How can I when she's afraid of humans? What would she think of me?”
“Oh Kin…you aren't a m---”
Kin turned the car back on. “Don't answer that Kagome.” He muttered. “I just needed to vent that out to someone I trusted. I-I…”
“Its okay, Kin.” Kagome said gently. “If she's your mate and if you love her, you will care for her, love her, and with patience and trust…she will loose her fear and she will let you embrace her and she will accept the fact you are youkai and you have nothing to be ashamed about. It just means you'll love her forever and you can protect her better than any human can.”
Kin turned to stare at her and before she knew it, Kin leaned over and pressed a kiss on her cheek. “Thanks, Aunt Kagome,” He said. “I do love her” he said, driving towards Kagome's house. “Thanks for listening. I needed a vote of confidence.” He grinned and continued on. “Now I just need her to take me back.”
Kagome sighed and leaned her head against the window. `Never would I have thought Ruby Yamada had been put through such a hard event.'
`She's so bubbly and loud when she's photographing you.'
Her brilliant smile, her brilliant eyes. Ruby was a strong-willed young woman, filled with fire and a vibrancy like no other. `I suppose everyone has a dark secret.'
`Ruby just didn't let it sink her…'
`No, she didn't. She's strong. And with Kin, she could learn to love.'
`Maybe…'
Kagome glanced at Kin who looked like he was a million miles away.

“Mama, I'm home!” Kagome yelled as she dropped her bag by the front door. She walked in to the kitchen, seeing her mother putting food on apparently…Souta's plate.
“Kagome, dear, a letter arrived for you.” Mrs. Higurasi said with a smile. “By the way, how was your photo shoot?”
“Sis! Aki walked me home today!” Souta happily stated.
Kagome ran over to the counter, grabbing the letter. “It was fine, cold water, but it was fine. I'm sure Akina adores you, Souta.” She said, ripping the envelope containing her future. Finally, the response from Prada and Parson's Program.
Mrs. Higurashi held her breath and Souta stared at Kagome, blinked and watching his sister's reactions. Kagome read the letter, looking for that one phrase that would change her life.
Dear Kagome Higurashi,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted in to the Parson's School of Design program in partnership with Prada Designing Company. Your full scholarship and internship with provide you with a full college schedule, an internship with Prada and with a dorm house. Oh behalf of---
Kagome read no more as she dropped the letter and jumped. “Mama! I got accepted!” She screamed, hopping over to her mother and hugging her tightly.
“Oh! Kagome, that's wonderful!” Mrs. Higurashi laughed along with Kagome.
“I can't believe this! I'm going, I'm actually going to New York!” Kagome wiped away her tears with the back of her hand. Mrs. Higurashi kissed her daughter's cheek. “I'm going to do it, Mama. I'm going to be a designer, the best one you'll ever hear of.”
“Congratulations Kagome.” Souta jumped on his sister. She held on to him for about ten seconds before dropping him.
“Thanks squirt.” She said, leaning down to kiss him.
“We must celebrate, Kagome.”
Kagome twirled around and then bent down to pick up the dropped letter. “Of course, Mama. Graduation day, I'll ask InuYasha to come with me. I don't want to be away from him for that long.”
“How long?”
“A few years, probably four or five. It depends on the classes and the length of time it takes to graduate and then take my training in to the industry.”
Mrs. Higurashi smiled. “I don't think InuYasha would allow you to be away that long. He'd follow anyway.”
Kagome bit her bottom lip as she held the letter to her chest. “He would right?” Her heart fluttered. “One of the many reasons why I love InuYasha Morikami.”

Kagome smoothed out her black flirty dress before stepping in to the main lobby of Taishou Inc. After her long day at school, practicing the graduation ceremony and whatnot, she wanted to surprise InuYasha. She hadn't heard from him all day. She smiled at the receptionist and walked towards the elevator.
“You're ID miss.”
Kagome turned slowly to look at the security guard. “Umm…” She sighed. “ID for what?”
“All that go up to the offices must present their ID's of the company.”
`What?!' Kagome stood up straight. “I don't need an ID of this company to go up.” She tried to step aside. “Excuse me,”
He shoved her back firmly, but not enough to hurt her. Kagome frowned and balled her fists. `Jerk! Who does he think he is?'
“Who do you think you are?” She snapped, glaring at him. “Let me pass, I'm InuYasha Morikami's fiancé!”
The security guard's eyebrows shot up, but he snorted. “Right. Sure miss and I'm Kagura Inutaisho's lover. Turn around and leave the company, miss, you cannot go up without an ID or proper appointment.”
Kagome tried to step past him again only to be shoved harder this time. She opened her mouth to give the security guard a piece of her mind, but a voice interrupted her. “What are you doing?”
She turned around to see the main security guard, a tall man she did know march over to the jerk who wouldn't let her to the elevator. “This girl trying to go up without an ID or appointment.” He explained quickly, glancing at Kagome.
“This girl that you just shoved back is Morikami-san's fiancé.” The other one snapped back, narrowing his eyes at him. The security guard blushed and winced. “I'm so sorry Higurashi-san, he's new. He was only doing his job, I did not inform him that you visited often. Please, go right ahead.” He turned back to the other one. “You will be the luckiest son of a bitch alive if Morikami-san doesn't skin you alive for shoving his fiancé. What the hell were you thinking? Even if she wasn't, you don't shove women, you baka.”
Kagome nodded. “It's okay.” She glared at the security guard and walked past him. She walked in to the elevator and went up. `That was a scene, sheesh.'
`Don't tell, InuYasha, he'd fire the poor guy.'
`I know. It was a mistake, I get it, but he didn't have to be so mean about it. I should get him fired…think he can shove me, does he?'
`That's harsh. You still shouldn't say anything,'
`I won't. I don't want to cost him his job.'
The elevator doors opened and Kagome walked towards InuYasha's office. She caught sight of Melissa, InuYasha's secretary. “Hello, Melissa. Tell InuYasha I'm here, please.”
Melissa looked up at her and shook her head. “He's not here.”
“Where is he?”
Melissa shrugged. “I don't know.” She flipped open a magazine, catching a printed ad of one of Kagome's earlier pictures, one from months ago. “You look very beautiful, Higurashi-san.”
“Thank you,” Kagome said, sighing. `Where is he?'
“A beautiful girl like you should be careful with men like Morikami.” Melissa said casually. “Are you sure you know who you're marrying?”
Kagome frowned and gave her a tight smile. “I'm sure.”
Melissa eyed the engagement ring. She frowned. “I'd be careful if I were you. Morikami-san has been stepping out a lot lately, if you get what I'm saying. Wouldn't want a bad husband, now would you?”
Kagome straightened her back. “I'm sure he's not cheating on me, Melissa. Best you get your nose out of other people's business.” She leaned over the woman's desk, her nose almost touching Melissa's. “If I had the power, you'd be the first one to go.”
Melissa narrowed her eyes. “Then thank Kami you don't” She whispered back, eyes blazing with fire. Kagome matched her fire.
`What's up with people around here today?' Kagome asked herself. Melissa sighed.
“I'm sorry, Higurashi-san.” Melissa sat back and bowed her head slightly. “It was not my place.”
Kagome sighed. “Just don't let it slip again, Melissa.”
Melissa nodded and watched as Kagome walked away. “But for the record, I do stand by my accusation. Be careful with InuYasha, I've seen more than you have.”
Kagome didn't look back as she walked back in to the elevator. `Hmph! That's ridiculous. What's her problem? Why do some people not want InuYasha and I together?'
`Don't pay attention Kagome, they're jealous.'
`That's what I think also. I mean, I love him and he loves me, right?'
She walked out of the building and stretched before sighing. `I want to be with him. I miss him.'
`Call him, maybe he wants to take you to dinner or something.'
Kagome grinned. `Or something.'
`Ugh, you're just as bad as he is. Hentai.'
Kagome rolled her eyes, but dug out her cellphone anyway. She walked a few blocks before she quickly searched for his number before pressing the `talk' button. It rung three times before InuYasha picked up.
“Hello?”
Kagome smiled. “InuYasha…”
“Kagome!” He sounded surprised.
“Where are you?”
“I'm picking up some stuff for a meeting tomorrow.”
“Oh” Kagome bit her bottom lip. “I miss you, puppy.”
“I miss you to, Kagome.”
“Miss me enough to have dinner with me today?”
He paused. “I'd love to, but I can't. I have an important meeting with Sesshoumaru and Kouga.”
“Inu---”
“I promise to make it up to you. I have to go, I love you Kagome.”
“I love you to.” Kagome said with dissapointment evident in her tone. The line went dead as she tried to push back the feeling he was lying to her. `No, he's telling me the truth. Why would he lie?'
She walked down the street, looking at stores and wandering inside. She bit her lip and didn't pick up her phone when Yuka or Eri called her. She didn't feel like being with anyone, she wanted to be on her own. She saw a flower store about a block away and started towards it.
At the corner she caught sight of silver hair. `No way' She walked closer, making sure he didn't pick up her scent. She hid and looked around the corner, watching as InuYasha came out with a bouqet of beautiful orchids. He smiled as he spoke on the phone, standing in front of the flower shop. Kagome restrained herself from going to him, watching as he put his phone away and started to walk away. And that would have been fine even with the bouqet for flowers. The only problem was:
`I don't live that way! And Taishou Inc. isn't that way either…'

“Oi, Sesshoumaru, I'm leaving.”
Sesshoumaru put down his glasses as he looked up at InuYasha. “And where are you going?”
“I've got a few things to do.”
That perked the youkai's interest. Leaning back on his chair, Sesshoumaru raised an eyebrow. “Really? Now tell me, what can be more important that your job?”
InuYasha snorted and sunk in to a chair in front of Sesshoumaru's desk. “Not that its any of your business, but I asked the wedding planner to find the best flower shop in Tokyo.”
“Ah, taking the liberty to choose your own flowers? How sweet of you.”
He growled. “No bastard, I'm not picking the flowers. Keh! But I need to like `em also. Anyway, I'll be back later, I'm going down there to check it out. I'll have them arrange samples for Kagome to pick.”
“You're so thoughtful…” Sesshoumaru said dryly.
“And your still a bastard,” InuYasha retorted, strolling out the office.
He went to Melissa's desk. “If anyone calls, I'm busy. If anyone comes, I'm gone. If Kagome comes, tell her I have a surprise for her.”
Melissa nodded and watched as InuYasha turned and left. `Yeah right, in your dreams Morikami-san'.
InuYasha went down to the lobby, watching the brand hew security guard walk around. He sighed and left the building, walking towards the store the planner had told him. He sighed and dug his hands in to his slack's pockets.
`This wedding couldn't be farther…'
`Never to early to start. Only the best for our mate. She'll have the wedding of her dreams, the wedding I've always dreamed I could give her.'
He walked in to the flower shop and a short blonde haired girl greeted him. “I presume you are Morikami-san?”
He nodded. She grinned. “My name is Yinko-sama and I will assist you today. My mother is not here so please, tell me what I can help you with.”
He looked around the store. “My fiancé has a big job, picking things for our wedding and such. Planning, setting up, and all that.” He blushed. “I thought I'd make her job easier and have you arrange some sample for her to pick from. Silver and sapphire, those are the colors. Could you work with that?”
The girl nodded. “Definitely. When is the wedding?”
“December of next year.”
She grinned. “That's plenty of time. Come, I'll show you what he have.”
InuYasha followed the girl, looking around as she pointed out different flowers. “Can you order something from another country?”
She nodded. “Anything you want, Morikami-san.”
He opened his mouth to say something when his phone rang. “Excuse me.” He mumbled before picking up his phone. “Hello?”
“InuYasha…” Kagome's happy voice greeted him.
He hadn't expected Kagome to call him. He sighed. “Kagome!”
“Where are you?”
“I'm picking up some stuff for a meeting tomorrow.” The girl raised a brow and he shrugged. She quirked a smile and continued marking the flowers he had already chosen.
“Oh” Kagome paused “I miss you, puppy.”
“I miss you to, Kagome.” He said, leaning against the counter.
“Miss me enough to have dinner with me today?”
He sighed and winced. “I'd love to, but I can't. I have an important meeting with Sesshoumaru and Kouga.”
“Inu---”
“I promise to make it up to you. I have to go, I love you Kagome.”
“I love you to.” His ears drooped when he heard the sadness in her tone.
He picked four different flowers that Yinko-sama marked and showed him different designs. She chose the best ones for Kagome to choose from. It was their wedding and he would have to like the arrangements also. He knew Kagome's taste and he merged hers with his. Before leaving the store, he had Yinko-sama wrap up orchids.
`Mother's favorite flowers.'
The small times he spent with his mother cleared in to his memory. Izayoi's soft smile, picking out the beautiful orchids. It had been a while since he paid his mother a visit and he was well past due. He bid the girl goodbye, scheduling a return with Kagome so she could pick.
He walked out of the store. “Hello?”
“InuYasha, darling, I found a marvelous place for your wedding. Also, I found the perfect shade of sapphire for Kagome's request.”
That placed a smile on his face. He didn't quite catch the rest of what the planner was saying, but when she finished, he knew he had much to do with Kagome. “Okay, thanks.”
“I think you're more excited about planning this wedding than the bride.”
“Keh! I've been waiting forever for this time and I ain't gonna let anything slide.”
The planner laughed. “Alright then. I'll keep at it, InuYasha. I'll give you a call tomorrow or something. Say hello to your beautiful bride and tell her not to go to crazy, its half my job also.”
“Okay, bye.”
“Bye, hon.”
InuYasha put away his cellphone before looking up at the sky. `Hope you're happy Kagome. I'll make it up to you my love…I promise.'
He turned and started towards Izayoi's grave. He had a few things to talk to his mother about and remind her he always remembered her…
