Shopping is a Girls Best Friend

“Thanks again Sango, but you really didn't have to take me out shopping.” Kagome thanked her for the thousandth time that day as she took a bite of her cone and ice cream.

“Well I had to, since I found out you're going to marry Kouga!” Sango squealed.

“I know, and you probably think I'm wrong for doing this its just… Kouga is nice, I don't know how much Kin likes him or I for that matter, but he needs a male model in his life. And I will admit I need some one to lean on a little bit. Please, don't tell me I'm being cruel and using Kouga, I just think it would be best for both of us, and maybe after awhile I will feel something more towards him.” She sighed looking at the small black shirt with spider-man on it.

“I understand Kagome, but what I don't get is how you want to feel towards him.” Sango said finishing her cone.

“I don't know. I want to feel like how I felt when HE touched me.” She said softly

“Inuyasha?” Sango asked and Kagome nodded.

“When Inuyasha touched me I felt… gosh I don't know!” She sighed and sat down on a chair.

“Tell me.” Sango giggled at her blush and nudged her sitting next to her.

“Its like, even when its just a meaningless touch like when he brushes by me I feel all…tingly and full of energy and… just I don't know! Like I get excited almost.” She described and Sango giggled nudging her again.

“You always were like this all romantic and dramatic, I feel the same things with Miroku, that's how I know we were made for each other.” Sango smiled. Kagome nodded sadly and looked at her watch.

“Its 4:30 and I haven't even bought the stuff I picked out for Kin. Would you mind going to go pick him up?” Kagome asked shooting up.

“Yeah sure I'll go get him, you get the stuff, I'll meet you at Kohl's in about 30 minutes okay?” Kagome nodded and both went their separate ways. Kagome brought the stuff up to the counter and paid for it before getting out and walking on her way to Kohl's. A path she had not been down in a while. She walked down the familiar shops stopping outside a local jewelry shop. She looked in at the gold necklace hanging there and back at the name painted on the glass and her own reflection. The past playing on the glass before her eyes.

“I can't believe you told that girl I was your wife to get a discount!” Kagome giggled holding onto Inuyasha's arm and gigging snuggling into the thick coat he wore.

“Hey Christmas shopping isn't cheap, I'll get any discount I can.” He protested playfully. Kagome giggled and held his arm tighter looking into the window of a jewelry store. She gasped and stopped looking into the window at the beautiful silver necklace with a blue diamond pendant.

“That's beautiful…” Kagome remarked.

“Well then lets get it.”

“No!” Kagome gasped holding him back. “I don't want you to get that for me. I only like to wear one necklace.”

“So you can wear that one…” He said pulling her.

“No! I want to just wear this one.” She said holding up the thick gold chain of his he had given her.

“You need something more feminine though.” He whined pulling her against his tone chest which was hidden under layer's of clothing.

“No, I like just wearing this. Plus, that is so expensive. I don't want you wasting your money on me.” Kagome whined.

“I never waste my money. But if you insist then I won't get it.” he sighed and they both walked away arms wrapped around each other.

~~~Christmas day~~

“Thank you, you got me so much nice stuff…” Kagome said giving him a soft kiss on his lips.

“Don't thank me yet I have on more gift for you, well it's kinda for me too but here…” He said handing her a medium size, thin box. Kagome smiled and tore off the wrapping and carefully opened it. On top was a dark blue sports cut, lace panties with crystals along the waist and For Yash written in small jewels on the front. Kagome giggled and playfully slapped him.

“You pervert!” She giggled.

“Wait till you see the other part…” He smirked and Kagome smiled and lifted up the underwear to find the necklace she had been looking at in the window sitting on a matching bra. She gasped and slowly picked up the necklace and looked at him stunned then turned attention back to the necklace.

“Oh Yash, it's so…” She said not being able to finish.

“I figured you could wear that set for me sometime.” He growled into her ear making her smile and blush. She turned and threw her arms around his neck whispering “Thank you.” Into his ear.

Kagome shook herself out of the memory and looked at her sad lonely self in the window reflection. `That was the set I wore the night Kin was conceived…' She thought sadly looking down at the new necklace. `God forgive me for doing this to Kin. If I would have just been smart I wouldn't have done this to him and it would be only me suffering Inuyasha's departure. I would have a decent job and when he finally did come he would have a better life. God I am such a bad mother.' She thought letting a few tears slip and looking back at herself. `Stop, you have to be strong, you might have messed up once, but you have a smart handsome little boy now who needs you there to help him. If you can't be smart and learn from your mistakes, how can you expect him to?' She thought taking a deep breath and clearing her head. She nodded once assuring herself and then turned walking off to Kohl's. When she got there she saw Kin and Sango looking at some of the manikins and pretending to be one themselves she chuckled slightly and walked over. Kin perked his ears up towards her and smiled running over to her with his arms open.

“MOMMY!” He giggled as Kagome picked him up twirling him around.

“Hey baby, I got some stuff for you, but you don't get to see till we get home and I know you have been good.” Kagome said giving him an Eskimo kiss.

“I'm always good.” He said defiantly and crossed his arms as Kagome handed a bag to Sango and started off to the parking area.

“Yeah, now I'm certain which gene you got more of.” She mumbled making Sango and Kin giggle.

“Hey I gotta go, see you two later.” Sango said Hugging Kagome and Kin. A cell phone started ringing and Kagome set Kin down and went through her purse taking out the bright blue phone with a giant smile on it saying Walmart on the side.

“Hello?...Yeah I'll be at work tomorrow…” Kin's ears started twitching and he looked around a little bit. “Sure I don't have a problem with that… no I don't mind…” Kagome replied. Kin gasped catching Kagome's attention.

“DADDY!” Kin yelled running across the walkway over to a couple. “DADDY!” He cried again. The man with long white hair and woman with black hair turned around. Kagome watched Kin as he ran up and Inuyasha knelt down picking him up in disbelief and the woman there in shock. Kagome stared at him not paying any attention to the person on the other end and slowly closed her phone. She stood there barely breathing.

“Kin…what are you doing here?” Inuyasha asked holding the boy out a little to look at his face.

“Mommy and Aunt Sangie brot me here.” He said pointing across the hall to Kagome who just stood there staring at him. Inuyasha stood up as Kin ran across and took Kagome's hand and pulled her toward Inuyasha, neither of them ever loosing eye contact. “Mommy look daddy came!” He said happily tugging on her arm when they got close enough.

“He did…” She said softly. The silence between them grew for awhile before the woman decided to make her entrance.

“Hi, I'm Kikyo (Or Kiky-ho for those who dislike her ; ) as so pointed out ) Inuyasha's fiancé.” She said smugly leaning on his shoulder and flashing her dimond ring.

“Congratulations, I'm very happy for you both.” Kagome said smiling and reach out her hand only to have Kikyo sneer at it.

“Yes, we are very excited with the wedding only two weeks away….” She said as Kagome looked back at Inuyasha who was looking away annoyedly. Kikyo noticed and growled a little bit at Kagome. “So, how do you know Inuyasha?” She asked.

“I uhh, went to school with him. My name is Kagome.” Kagome said turning back to Kikyo. She didn't want to watch the angry and sad hanyou any longer. It was killing her enough that this…whatever she was exactly couldn't tell he was bothered, or at least didn't care. Kikyo looked her up and down and smirked then looked over at Kin who hid and growled a little.

“That explains it….” She said looking back at Kagome. “I've heard of you. Naomi told me all about it. You're the slut who decided to go out on a little sex spree ending in this…” She said gesturing to her body. “…A single mom, with no college degree, and a kid who you don't even know the father to.” She sneered. “You must feel very proud of yourself.”

“Kikyo, don't.” Inuyasha sighed.

“What? A slut like her needs to be told how disgraceful her actions were! I mean she had a son and doesn't even know who the father…”

“Kikyo, don't talk on subjects you know nothing about!” He growled.

“Daddy…” Kin said tugging on his pants a little to calm him down.

“Oh I see…” Kikyo started. “You defend her because she taught the little kid you're the daddy is that right? Do you honestly think hes your kid? Come on Yash! Don't you think she would have told you when you first moved away?”

“Kikyo, just shut up! He is my son! I know for a fact, my youkai is on him!” Inuyasha growled and Kikyo looked at him a little shocked and angry.

“Oh…I see…” Kikyo said looking down at Kin. “So is this what our kids will look like?” She said bending down to Kin who hid behind Inuyasha.

“No, because there won't be any!” He growled again. Kikyo shot up and looked at him.

“What?” Kikyo gasped.

“The agreement was to get married, it said nothing about having kids, you decided that on your own.” He said angrily and looking down at Kin stroking his head a little. Kikyo fumed at his outburst. Kagome saw her angry scowl and reached for Kin only to be stopped and pushed back by Kikyo.

“This is all your doing you slut!” She growled and slapped her harshly across the face. Kagome's hand attached itself to her face as she bent over a little. Kin ran over holding his mom's leg and growling at Kikyo who threw her hand back making him flinch, but the blow never came. Inuyasha held Kikyo's wrist tightly growling lowly at her as his driver/security came over.

“Take her back to the house, I will talk with her later.” He instructed handing her to the man who walked her out with Inuyasha watching to make certain they left. Once he was he went back to Kagome who was sitting on a bench holding her cheek and Kin in her lap. He walked over crouching in front ofher. He slowly reached up and removed her hand to reveal 3 deep scratches with lin lines of blood forming in the crack and a small red one below. He sighed sadly at her and softly brushed the unharmed skin near her ear.

“You must treat her to some really good manicures…” Kagome chuckled softly.

“If by treat you mean either pay for it or shell charge it to you anyway, then yeah I guess so.” He sighed angrily. “Come on, lets get you both home and you treated…” He grunted picking her up after Kin jumped off her lap.

“Inuyasha, I hurt my cheek not my foot.” She said trying to wiggle out of his grasp.

“No, not yet, but you will if you keep moving.” He growled. She stopped and let him carry her, it was for the best. She could tell he was pissed and angering him would just make it worse. Kin lead the way to the car skipping happily and Inuyasha put Kagome down to let her buckle him in. She closed the door and walked toward the back to be stopped by Inuyasha's arm. “I don't think so…Keys.” He said holding out his hand. Kagome looked at him incrediously.

“No way, you will total my car!” She smirked.

“Yes, now, or we won't be going anywhere.” He said impatiently.

“Fine you go around and I will give you the keys in the car…”

“Ha, I don't think so princess, you did that one to me before, remember in high school? Keys now.” He smirked holding out his hand. Kagome sighed giving up and handing over the keys. True her car wasn't a better one, but she still didn't want to have to buy a new one on her salary.

“Why do I even bother?” She sighed getting in passenger side.

“I don't know, I always get it my way.” Inuyasha smirked.

“You and your dumb hanyou hearing.” She grumbled looking out her window.

“You always hated that I had better senses then you.” He said putting on his sunglasses and backing out screeching out of the parking. It was amazing they made it to her apartment in one piece. He had to be one of the worst drivers in the world. Either way they made it to her apartment without having to make a pit stop at the local hospital. Kagome got Kin out and Inuyasha got the bags following her up the stairs. He looked up to see her reddened and scratched face, which was now in his view. He found himself growling as an image of Kikyo found its way into his mind. Kagome unlocked the door and flicked on a light as they all went in and Kagome set Kin down and took the bags she had bought setting them by the door.

“Thanks Yash, I'll take care of things from here.” She said holding out her hand. He just closed the door and locked it moving past her to the kitchen. “Hey, where are you going?” She asked following him to have him pick her up and set her on the counter. “What are you…”

“Stay!” He growled angrily as she tried to get down. Kagome's eyes got big and she got back on the counter sitting there like a little kid in trouble. “I know you Kagome, you won't treat your face until later when its practically all swollen and bad.” He said pulling out various things from the cabinets. He placed a bowl under the tap and turned it to hot going back to getting his ingredients.

“Uh you're going to have to heat the water, I don't have hot water here, its too expensive.” He set down his stuff and glared at her turning off the water. Kagome bit her lip and looked down at the ground.

“Well maybe if you would have taken my offer on child support you would have it.” He growled putting some water in a pot and putting it on a burner.

“Well, I…”

“No, you sit here and listen! I am angry and you should know why. I have no idea why you think marrying Kouga will some how make things better, but that's up to you. You know I can't be with you and Kin, but I can still help out. I hate going home to my father's house when I know my family is here in this small apartment and there is nothing I can do.” He said mixing various things into the steaming water that was now off the heat. “You're stubborn Kagome. Sometimes, I think it's a blessing, but other times I think its just a curse. Not to mention you always make trouble for yourself because you care too much. None of this would have happened if you would have just told the truth and told everyone that I was the father, especially Miroku. Then maybe I would have not gotten in this thing with Kikyo… But Its not all your fault. Its not like you climbed on yourself and got pregnant. And you tried to tell me, but I was a dumbass.” He sighed dipping in a rag and ringing it out before holding her chin. “Hold still…” He instructed and lightly dabbed it on.

“It stinks!” Kagome whined.

“Yeah, but its one of the better cures, and it will keep your cheek from swelling up.” He sighed holding it on her cheek. They both looked up at each other, locking their eyes once more before Kagome looked to the side still aware he was staring at her.

“Kagome I…” An island theme cut him off and he sighed annoyed as he pulled out his cell phone. “Hello?” He growled. Kagome and Inuyasha flinched as a voice on the other side of the phone screamed at the poor hanyou. “Yes I did. Because. Fine I'll be there in 15.” He finished closing the flip phone. “Hey uhh listen I have to go.” Kagome nodded not looking at him still sitting on the counter. “Listen here's my new cell number, call me if you ever need me.” He said handing her a piece of paper. “Well uhh, bye then.” Kagome nodded and he turned leaving to certain hell.

“Good bye Inuyasha.” Kagome whispered after the door shut. She tossed the paper on the kitchen counter and went back into her bedroom laying down on the soft mattress her vision blurring from unwanted water. She gulped down the lump in her throat and rolled over into her pillow to cry herself to sleep. Kin could hear her crying as she had done often throught the years. She had stopped for about a year but then once his daddy showed up it seemed to occur more often. He looked down at the piece of paper he had swiped in his hand and sighed sadly returning to his room. He sat down by his bed and grabbed his favorite toy cuddling with it as he held onto the number. His mom had showed him how to use a phone recently so he could call for help. Kin looked at the number one more time and held it tighter to protect it.

“Daddy.” He whispered falling into his dream filled sleep.

Inuyasha arrived at the house in 15 minutes like he said and casually strolled in. He walked down the hall and up the stairs to his father's study where he knew they were waiting for him. He opened the door and surely enough was Kikyo, his father, his mother, and Kikyo's father Naraku (the two worst people in Inuyasha should be related).

“Hello everyone.” Inuyasha sighed.

“Inuyasha do not act casual, I demand to know what possessed you to say that.” His father boomed.

“I have told you father, bearing an heir was not in our agreement.” Inuyasha growled.

“It was presumed to be applied!” Naraku argued.

“Well I am sorry you feel that way. Kikyo is a wonderful person (Yeah right), and I might have not minded marring her 5 or 6 years ago, but I do now. I will marry her and be faithful by all means, but I am afraid an heir is something I cannot provide. I love someone else, for that I am sorry. I will love and provide for Kikyo as much as I can, but I refuse to bring a child in on these circumstances!” He finished slamming down his hand.

“Why the hell not? You brought a child into this world in on worse circumstances!” Naraku growled.

“That is beside the point!” Inuyasha growled menacingly.

“It is the point Inuyasha! This whore and her child are keeping you from loving me like you really should!” Kikyo yelled back.

“ENOUGH!” Inuyasha's father interrupted. “The matter of an heir will be discussed after the wedding in one week end of discussion!” Kikyo watched his movements with disgust for this wench.

“Fine!” Inuyasha snorted and stomping out and jumping up the stairs to the his room, not noticing the look he got from Kikyo, or how she smirked when she knew something he didn't. He walked in sighed loudly and collapsing on his bed. How was it everything got screwd up? He stared at the ceiling for awhile before he passed out. A couple hours later he woke up rubbing his eyes. He sat there, face in his hands for awhile before he walked up stairs to the attic. He always poked around up there when something bothered him. It was clean and fairly neat even though it was cluttered with antique stuff. There were dressers, trunks, coat hangers, a couple of mirrors, old clothes, and somewhere in the mess his father and his mother's wedding clothes stashed in a well decorated cherrywood trunk. Inuyasha glided past the junk to the said trunk and kneeled down in front of it fingering the lid before opening it. There inside and on top was his mother's wedding dress, the most beautiful gown he could imagine. It might have been old, but it was amazing. He couldn't even count the number of times since he met Kagome he invisioned her wearing it to their own wedding ever since she had held it up. He sighed fingering the fine lace before closing the lid and looking around. He tunred his head toward the door and stood as her laughter sounded in his ears.

Kagome laughed as she once again tripped on her blind path up the stairs.

“Inuyasha, where are we going?” Kagome giggled.

“It's a surprise.” He said as he opened the door and guided her through the mess to the center of the room. He pulled her close and kissed her before taking off her blindfold. “We are here.” He announced happily. Kagome looked around and smiled.

“Oh wow its your attic, there is so much stuff!” Kagome squealed. She began poking around at the different things until she found some jewelry. “Oh its so pretty you should clean it up and give it to your mother for mother's day.” Kagome gasped and Inuyasha put his arms around her from behind rocking her slightly.

“Maybe I will, right now there is something I want to show you.” He whispered nipping her ear. Kagome giggled and turned her head to the side to give him a real kiss.

“show me?” She asked and he grinned and pulled her over to the chest. They both leaned in front of it as Inuyasha opened it. Kagome gasped at the dress, it was absolutely amazing. She reached down feeling the fabric of the pure silk dress. “May I?” She asked amazed. He kissed her neck and whispered go ahead. Kagome gently lifted the dress up to see it full length. The bottom was poofy made of at least ten layers of fabric all topped with real lace and accented in beautiful bead work. The top was off the shoulder long sleeve with a flower pattern etched into the lace mesh. She held it up to her boday and twirled around. “Oh Inuyasha its beautiful. It is the dress any girl would kill to wear for her wedding.” She said looking in the mirror.

“Then maybe you should wear it to ours.” Kagome looked at his reflection and turned to him barely breathing.

“Inuyasha I…” He walked over and caressed her cheek leaning down to kiss her softly.

“Kagome I love you and someday I WILL marry you.” He whispered. “…If you'll have me.” He added softly and looking into her big brown eyes. She turned away and looked smugly into the mirror holding up the dress to her body.

“I guess I will…” She sighed. “But in this light I accept your offer out of pity.” She smirked looking at him.

“Truly it is I who is scarificing by marrying you, not every girl can look as old as you in your years.” He smirked in return. Kagome smiled and turned around throwing her arms around his neck and wrapped her legs around his waist, the dress on the chair by the mirror long forgotten as Inuyasha locked his fingers under her ass and twirled her around kissing her feverently.

The scene slowly faded and again the island theme song played.

“Hello?” He answered.

“Daddy?!?” Kin's voice sounded scared.

“Kin? What's wrong?”
