Chapter 16
Wedding Helper
Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha
Kagome woke up on a nice fluffy bed when she felt a small body shift slightly next to her. She looked over to find Kin sleeping there holding a beaten up teddy bear. He was a peanut butter color with a marshmallow stomach thus earning him the name Fluffernutter. He was Inuyasha's first bear ever. Kagome had found it under his bed once and pulled it out. He had been surprised and embarrassed until she told him about Ms. Piggy, her stuffed pig. Ever since then she had always seen the old bear up on a shelf and never ever was he dusty like the items around him. A beep sounded on the night table and Kagome picked up her cell looking at the caller Id.
“Kouga…” She grunted getting up and leaving the room before answering.“Hello?”
“Kagome, hey. I got your note last night, I wanted to talk to you…”
“Yeah, I'm sorry Kouga but I made up my mind. I just don't feel right about marrying you. I would only be doing it for money and we would both be unhappy so I'm sorry. I feel really bad.” Kagome admitted looking down at her bare ring finger.
“It's ok, I will live. Besides one of your neighbors, the one that delivered it, Ayame, she seems nice I might go out with her.”
“That's great well I need to go thanks for understanding.” She sniffed.
“No problem Kagome. Be happy. *click*” Kagome looked at the phone sadly. She sniffed before closing it and putting it down looking out the window. `Be happy. If only…' She thought before turning around and slipped a ring on her left finger. She didn't want Inuyasha to know. Maybe if he thought she was getting married he would keep his distance. Maybe. The phone rang again and Kagome picked it up.
“Hello?” she answered.
“Morning, sorry to wake you this early but planner is here and we need to go to the church location and start getting things in order.” Inuyasha's voice rang on the other side.
“Uh yeah sure, I'll wake Kin…”
“Oh no need, Mom is staying home so she can take care of him.” He assured her.
“Ok I'll be right there.” She said hanging up the phone and going into the bedroom slipping into a tight pair of Jeans and black wife beater with yin yang printed in silver on it. Quickly brushing her hair, she slipped on some black flip flops and bent down kissing Kin before rushing out into the courtyard and into the larger house. Knowing it pretty well she was able to find them all in the front room easily.
“Hey sorry it's a big house.” She apologized still half asleep.
“Oh no problem, planner just left so we need to be on our way.” Inuyasha said ushering her out to his corvette in the garage. Kagome stepped in barely finishing buckling up before the car jerked forward and was on its way to the church.
“So um, what exactly am I doing?” Kagome asked uncertainly.
“Well, I know I asked u to help plan, but actually all I really need is a woman's opinion since Kikyo went on a bachlorette party in Paris.” He grumbled.
“You don't seem to happy about that…” Kagome pointed out.
“Yeah well that might be because she gets a party but I don't! Something about me wanting to taste freedom and sleeping with half the whores in the city…” He growled lowly.
“Ah I see. So basically you need me there because you know that no matter what you will suck and totally mess up the designs on the wedding and that if you have me work with you, you don't have to work as hard as you would normally.” She summed.
“…Yeah pretty much.” He nodded.
“You are hopeless.” She sighed. `But then again so am I. I am going to help Inuyasha with his wedding to someone else. God I didn't know it would hurt this much. I am practically pushing him away from Kin. I still haven't told him. He will hate me when I tell him the truth.' She thought sadly.
“Kagome?” Inuyasha asked concearned when she didn't respond. “Listen I know this is really shitty of me to put this on you. But I knew you wouldn't take charity. There is something you should know though….” He said pulling up to the church. Inuyasha hopped out helping Kagome out of her side. Kagome looked up towards the church and her blood ran cold. `Naomi' she thought. Said girl bounded down happily hugging Inuyasha.
“Oh Inuyasha, I am so happy you are marrying Kikyo! You have much better taste then you used to.” She said sneering at Kagome. “Oh look, its your little helper Kagome. So sad isn't it Kagome? Never a bridesmaid or a bride.” She laughed and Inuyasha had to reastrain Kagome.
“Naomi stop! I am not short on decorators.” He threatened making her silence.
“Very well. Shall we?” She asked bounding up the stairs. Inuyasha stepped aside letting Kagome go first.
“Shall we? Yeah we shall. I'll rip your little preppy hair out through your ass that's what we shall do.” She growled past Inuyasha making him chuckle. They stepped into the 50 foot church capable of holding at least 500,000 people. Each window on the sides was stained glass of each of the stations of the cross and the front was done in the Virgin mary holding a baby Jesus. A grand piano sat behind and to the left of the table. A bright blood red carpet guided the way to the slightly higher platform where the couple would proclaim their vows. White, black, and red roses bundled together on each pew connected by sheer white and black cloths. Two grand bouquets of red, black, and white roses accented with red and white ribbons sat parallel on each side. Everything seemed to be perfect. Though she was still confused and wierded out about the whole blood red, black, and pure white…
“So we still have a few more things we need to check up on. Do you want some flower decorations on the candle holders in the front?” Naomi asked. Inuyasha looked back at Kagome.
“Uhhhhh… I think it would look nice…” She answered. “Maybe if you put some white bows on the bottom and put a white ribbon on the table, alter, whatever you want to call it.” She suggested. Inuyasha turned and nodded and Naomi made a note.
“Ok…and do you want rice to be handed out to be thrown?” Naomi asked.
“No.” Inuyasha answered.
“Why? It's a nice tradition…” Kagome whined.
“Kikyo already told me about how much that disgusted her, we are not having it.” He replied annoyed.
“Ok, and we have the head count, and so if everything here pleases you we really need to work on the hall.” She said walking out making sure to bump Kagome on the way. Inuyasha stepped up taking the pen Naomi dropped that Kagome picked up and positioned to throw.
“I will take that. Thank you.” He said nicely walking past her. Kagome growled and stomped after him. They walked out side, Naomi locking up the church behind them. Inuyasha made sure to stay between them both just in case all the way over to Naomi's car.
“Well I will meet you two over at the wedding hall and we can work out some of the last details including the menu, and cake details. Tomorrow I will need you both to help lay out where the decorations will go.” She instructed opening her car door. “Meet me over at the reception hall.” She said before driving off. Inuyasha looked over at Kagome who was smiling. He eyed her curiously.
“You did something.” He stated.
“Huh? Me? No way.” She replied in a whatever tone. Naomi's car gave a screeching hault ahead of them and a scream sounded. “Oop, time to go.” Kagome said pulling Inuyasha to his car.
“AHHH THERES A SNAKE IN MY CAR!” Said girl screamed as Inuyasha and Kagome got in their car.
“YOU PUT A SNAKE IN HER CAR!?!” Inuyasha screamed.
“NO!.....Maybe…… Just a small plastic garden snake.” She replied grumbling.
“Where did you get a plastic snake?”
“Oh Kin puts them in my purse all the time. I wonder where he gets that!” She replied sarcastically.
“I remember when I put one in your car.” He smirked starting his car.
“That one was deadly though!”
“You mean would have had it not been plastic.” He answered as they went by Naomi who was now pulling out said snake.
“No its still was I nearly had a heart attack.”
“I recall someone nearly ripping my ear off after that.” He growled.
“You deserved it.” She smirked looking out her window. He stopped at the red light and leaned in near her ear growling.
“And you deserved the spanking I gave you that night
