Inuyasha: WAIT!!!! *goes after with me clinging to leg* I'm Ugh Coming! Kagome!
Kagome slowly opened her eyes and looked up at the familiar ceiling of her bedroom. The white plaster that textured abstract pictures along the roof that she had seen for four years was now there again. Inuyasha had taken them home yesturday. She vaguely remembered waking up for the few fleeting seconds as he carried her into the old apartment that she had gotten a few years ago, her little angel on his way. She rubbed her eyes and sat up. Swinging out she stepped on the cool floor and made her way slowly to Kin's room. As she opened the solid wood door she found Kin tucked in sleeping soundly on his bed. His little arm hung out of the bed, barely visible under his Scooby blanket, laying over Fluffernutter. The other lay under it, the thumb popped comfortably in his mouth, the other fingers fitted in a small fist vibrating against his thumb. She stroked his ear, softly scratching behind it as she bent down and kissed his forehead. She smoothed his hair down as she stayed there croutched down. His lips were slightly open and she could see his tongue lapping at his thumb. She smiled softly, kissing him once more before getting up to start breakfast. Hew would get up on his own soon enough. Besides, he should be allowed to stay in his dream as long as he could. They only lasted for a short time. She walked down the hall messing with her hair along the way. The house was fully restored from that night, of course she noticed the triple lock on the door and eye hole. The kitchen was bare except for a single white note on the counter. Kagome curiously picked it up. She knew by the writing it was from Inuyasha.
Dear Kagome,
I know you won't accept any money, but there is a check written for you two on the fridge. Please take it. I just want to give you something that will help you out. I want you to know Kagome, I know this is all my doing. I should have never gotten on that plane, I should have never left your side. If I could do it again I would fix all I've screwed up on in the past. Forgive me Kagome. I was dumb, just like the day we met. I can't be there to help you raise Kin, but I want you to tell him about the mistake I made. I don't care if he hates me after. I don't want him to make the same mistake I did. I don't want him to lose everything in his life that he loves. He deserves better then I could ever give him, luckily he has you. During our high school days I slowly was becoming a nobody, but you changed that. You helped me rise to my full potential, you made me something. I know our son will one day rise above everyone because he has you to help him. He has your love. I know he will achieve great things, because of you. You're an angel my love, and there is no one in the world who could take my heart like you have. No matter what Kagome, I love you. You will always be in my dreams.
Truly Yours Now and Forever,
Inuyasha
(Dog-boy)
Kagome wiped away the tears and set the note aside only to find another object that made her cry even more. Next to a small envelope was their pictures from a photo booth at a theme park down town. The top one held both of them smiling brightly holding each other close. The next one her back was to his chest, his head on her shoulder both smiling a smaller, but just as happy. Then he had his face buried in her neck and she was laughing as he held her tight, tickling her neck. Next they were still in the same position, their noses and foreheads touching, small, content smile on their lips. Last was them kissing. She remembered that day. IT rained as they walked back to his place. Both of them ran laughing the three block left tracking water inside his nice house. The moment they were inside and discovered no one was home, they quickly undressed the other leaving a trail of wet clothes all the way to his bedroom. Of course leading to one of their many “sessions”. She picked up the pictures shakily and put it on the fridge.
“Mommy?” A sleepy voice called as a hand tugged on her shirt. Kagome looked down smiling as she picked up Kin.
“Hey baby. Good morning. How's my big boy?” She greeted nuzzling his nose with her own making him giggle.
“Good!” He looked at the pics and his face brightened. “DADDY!” He cried pointing to Inuyasha.
“Yep, that's right. That's daddy and mommy a few years ago.”
“Where dad?” Kagome softened her expression.
“Daddy had to leave but don't worry I'm sure you'll see him again soon.” Kin seemed to accept this answer and smiled. “Are you hungry?” He nodded. “What do you want?”
“Cheeros!” Kagome laughed setting him down on the chair.
“Alright.” She took down his favorite black and red swirled bowl filling it with milk and honey-nut Cheerios plopping a spoon in to finish it off. She put it in front of him as well as a napkin as the phone rang. Kagome picked up the corded phone next to the fridge and the faceplate fell off. Yes that phone had seen better days. She pushed it back on and answered the phone. “Hello?”
“Kagome! Hey, sorry to call you so early I hope I didn't wake you.”
“No Rin its fine. I was up. How are you?” Kagome asked leaning against the counter.
“Great! The reason I called is I am free today and I was wondering if you would like to go out to lunch?” Her happy voice rang through the phone.
“That would be great! We'd love to see you.”
“Great. Lets go to that new little Italian Café down on 5th Street.” She suggested way to happily for 8:00 am.
“Sure sounds fun, around 12 okay?”
“Great see you there!”
“Bye.”
“Bye.” Kagome hung up the phone and turned to Kin.
“Hey guess what, we are going to go see your cousin Rin today for lunch.” Kin gave a nice `Yay!' that left Kagome giggling as the phone rang again. “Man we are popular today huh?” She asked Kin before picking up.
“Yay pupler!” Kagome giggled as she said hello into the phone.
“Kagome?” Kagome's heart stopped.
“Inuyasha?” Kin tensed at the mention of the name.
“Daddy!” He cried loud enough for him to hear.
“Shh! Mommies talking.” She softly scolded. “What is it you um, need?”
“I just wanted to know if you got my note…” He sounded sad, very sad.
“Yeah I found it. Thanks. Um, did you want me to return Fluffer?” She asked noticing the small bear by Kin on the table.
“No. I wanted him to have just a piece of me before…” He trailed off, leaving the sentence to be finished in both their minds.
“Mom, can I talk to daddy?” A little voice asked tugging on her shirt. She nodded handing the phone to Kin who was holding the bear under his arm. “Daddy?”
“Hey kiddo. How are you doing?” He asked softly.
“Good… Tank you for Fluffner.”
“You're welcome. What are you and Mommy doing today?”
“Umm… Ant Rin is gonna go lunch wiff us.” He replied rubbing his eye a little.
“Oh really? That's nice.”
“Yeah! Uh daddy…?”
“Yeah?”
“When you coming home?” Kagome grabbed the phone after a few seconds kissing Kin.
“Go get ready for lunch, we gotta go to the store.” She said happily messing up his hair as he left.
“KAY! BYE DADDY!” He squealed running out. Kagome shook her head and put the phone back to her ear.
“Sorry. I didn't know he was going to ask. I haven't told him yet.”
“It's okay.” Was all he could get out.
“Well I need to do some shopping before lunch. It was good to hear from you Inuyasha.”
“I wanted to properly say goodbye.” Kagome silently nodded.
“Goodbye Inuyasha.” She said softly hanging up the phone before he could say anymore. Her hand covered her mouth as she turned around and leaned against the wall shaking. Her knees gave way and she slid down to the ground sobbing. This was it. Their bond was broken, their strings cut. Nothing but memories from a dream, it was like nothing ever happened. Just one big dream.
