Chapter 23
Start of Something New
Disclaimer: 23 chapters later and I still don't own him guys
Inuyasha drove as quickly as he could towards the park praying that was where she was. The rain beat down on his windshield as he drove and it was difficult to see. Lights from other cars reflected off the water and into his eyes. His hands gripped the steering wheel tightly against the slick pavement. He was still a good few minutes from his destination in this rain. He could already see the park from where he was. His wipers worked double time to clear the sheets of water that feel from the sky. The light turned yellow before him, only making him press harder on the gas pedal. A horn blared as a car slammed on its brakes narrowly avoiding Inuyasha's car. Inuyasha was unaffected however. The trees along the side of the road shivered with the wind and the rain. He could see the narrow road that led to the small dirt lot. Streams of water rushed from the road into the pond that was now even bigger. In the middle of the mud soaked grass and the shaking trees was the small white gazebo that looked out over the large pond. He made a sharp turn in, parking his car on the dirt by the grass. He didn't even think twice as he got out of his car and ran. His shoes slowed him as they stuck to the mud covering the once beautiful green grass. He paused removing both his shoes and his socks and throwing them, not really caring where they went at the moment. He continued much easier running toward the small hut in the distance. He was finally able to find the cement path that led to it and ran along it, splashing water as he did. He was close now, so close he could see a figure standing there against the rail looking out to the lake, their back to him. It only fueled him to run faster. He finally reached the steps taking all five of them in one big leap, a bad idea when you're wet. The moment his foot connected with the tile he slipped falling straight onto his ass.
“Ugh fuck!” He swore on the ground.
“Inuyasha!” Kagome gasped running over as he sat up. “W-what are you doing here? You're supposed to be getting married!”
“I know, that's why I'm here.” He grunted as Kagome helped him get up.
“Your tux its soaked, did you run all the way here?” He nodded to the side a little.
“I guess you could say that.”
“You don't have any shoes…”
“Lost them.”
“How can you lose your shoes?” She asked skeptically.
“Easily.” Was his reply as he leaned against a small wooden pillar.
“So, what are you doing here?”
“Sesshomaru did a little digging and found out Kikyo was behind it all with her father, they set up the break in, the debt, the whole thing. He found out just before the wedding.” He explained wincing as he rubbed his head.
“Are you serious?” Kagome asked with a shocked expression.
“No, I just decided to make up this crap.” He replied sarcastically. Kagome slowly smiled and laughed.
“Inuyasha…” She shook her head. “You're still the same as the day you left.”
“Yep, that's why you love me.” He grinned.
“You're right. I do love you.” She whispered softly. “So what will you do now?”
“Well… I plan to get down on one knee…” Which he did. “…And ask the one person I love most in this entire world to be my wife.” He held up the ring smiling as he took her left hand slowly slipping it on. “…If she will have me.” Kagome's right hand shook as she put it up to her mouth and tears fell down. “…What no sarcastic remarks?” The both laughed and he rose wrapping his arm around her waist.
“Yes. A million times yes. I love you so much!” She cried wrapping her arms around his neck and crying into his neck. Inuyasha smiled rubbing her back as he rested his cheek on her head. When Kagome finally did stop she looked at him and smiled.
“We better be on our way, our wedding starts in an hour and a half.” Her face droped seriously.
“…What?” She gasped. “An hour and a half are you serious? We can't get a hall booked and stuff before then!”
“We'll use the original you help design.”
“What about bridesmaid dresses?”
“Sango and Rin got them.”
“Then where is Kin?”
“He's already at the church with father, all dressed up I a cute little tux and…”
“What do you mean he's already ready?” Kagome interrupted. “How did he get there?”
“Well Miroku did a dash home and grabbed him while Sango left with Rin to take care of the other things. For the tux, one of Kikyo's cousins couldn't make it and he was in the wedding and it somehow miracuously fit him. And they were both able to jack the ring from your apartment since you weren't there.” Inuyasha finished kissing her forehead. “And I have your dress in the back, now all we have to do is show up.”
“How convienent.” Kagome drawled.
“Kagome, if you don't want to then all you have to do is say so.” Kagome deeply thought about this. This was a wedding planned for Kikyo, even though she had changed it so she liked it better. She opened her mouth to speak her mind when she looked up into his hopeful eyes. That was when she realized. In a few minutes she would happily walk up those steps with him and say `I Do'. She slowly smiled into a huge grin.
“Lets do it! Let's get married.” She said excitedly. Inuyasha's smile got bigger if it was even possible.
“You mean it?” All it took was her head to nod before his arms went under her bottom and picked her up spinning her around. Kagome laughed as she kept her hands on his shoulders. He loosened his grip to carry her bridal style. “I do love nothing in the world as much as you.” He growled softly. In one swoop he kissed her heatedly and walked out into the still pouring rain. He stopped just out of the gazebo and they both looked up before looking at each other and laughing. He smiled as he twirled her around a little before heading back to the car, this time using the sidewalk, and walking as slow as he could.
~*~*~*~*~*~
The entire Tashio family, including Sango and Miroku, sat in silence staring at the door. The clock ticked loudly in the silent room as they all waited impatiently for the young lovers to enter the door.
“It's less than an hour until the wedding starts where the fuck are they?” Inu no Tashio growled impatiently.
“…Its one minute past one! Be patient.”
“Yeah Gampa be pa-pa-pa-patent!” Kin cried from his spot next to the great dog demon. At that moment the two in question burst through the door, soaking wet and laughing.
“Oh my god! What happened to you two?” Miroku asked looking at them.
“We got caught in the rain.” Inuyasha laughed with Kagome in his arms.
“Mommy!” Kin cried getting up and running toward them. Inuyasha let her down regretfully. However Kin didn't make it.
“Oh no you don't!” Mr. Tashio said grabbing him by the collar and holding him in his arms. “We already have one ruined tux we don't need another. Sango! Rin! Make sure Kagome is cleaned up, the make-up artist will be in there shortly.”
“I'll go with you.” Inuyasha announced leaving with them.
“Oh no you don't pup. I have half a mind to let you get married like that, but I don't need that kind of humiliation. You're coming with us.” He ordered grabbing him by his sensitive dog ear.
“Ow! Okay! OKAY!” He screamed following after his father.
~*~*~*~*~*
“I can't believe he slipped.” Rin giggled outside the small changing stall.
“I know I wish I could have been there with a camera.” Sango agreed as she did her makeup.
“It was rather funny, but I was more shocked then anything.” Kagome called from inside the small room. “Ugh, how much longer do I have?”
“About forty-five minutes, But no worries, your hair is done and so is your make up, All we have to do is get your dress and your veil on… And your shoes.” Sango ended just as Kagome came out. The long, see through, white mesh came all the way down her arms and then some in beautiful bel sleeves. The white flower pattern wrapped around them in vines. Beautiful white pearls ran between her shoulder and upper arm, wrapping around the chest as well. The rest of the top was plain and fit snugly against her skin, the bottom flared out in a semi- wide V and was decorated in white beaded flower design, elegant and yet, old and unique. “…Holy…”
“Shit…” Rin finished, both agape.
“What?” Kagome asked innocently. Light white eye shadow with glitter contrasted with her long thick black lashes and pale pink lips. A pair of white diamond dangles came from her ears, matching the necklace Inuyasha had gotten her one fateful Christmas morning.
“You look great!” Sango gasped.
“You do, holy shit!” Rin cursed amazed.
“Thank you.” Kagome said blushing to no end.
“Here.” Rin said putting down her shoes in front of her, which Kagome stepped in.
“And to top it off…” Sango set the small baby's breath crown in her hair that was twisted in a bun and decorated with random pearls. The small crown wrapped around her bun with a small bow, in the back. They decided to not deal with the veil. She looked like an angel. “You look so beautiful Kagome!”
“Thanks.” Kagome smiled. Truly she felt beautiful …but still a little unsure. “I still don't know about… you know…”
“…Wearing the underwear that matches that necklace? Please, he'll love it.” Sango sighed.
“We're on in a…” Miroku paused for a moment. “…Holy crap…KAGOME?”
“No I'm Santa!” Kagome replied plainly.
“…Ok, any way, you look beautiful! Wait till I tell Yash. Any way, you guys need to get moving we got about 30 minutes before we start so start wrapping up and…”
“Mommy!” Kin cried running in.
“Hey sweetie!” She said bending down and picking him up. “So what do you think?” She asked gesturing to the dress.
“Pwetty!” He smiled fingering the pearls at the top. “Mommy, Daddy say he can wait to see you.”
“Well tell him he has to ok?”
“Why are we all dwessed up mommy? I don like it.” He said tugging on his jacket in disgust.
“I know sweetie, be patient okay? Mommy and Daddy are getting ready to make sure we are a family forever okay!?!”
“Kay…Mommy, was Sex?” Everyone in the room had horrified looks on their faces, except Kin.
“Where did you hear that?” Kagome gasped.
“Uncle Miro and Dad was talking an…”
“Okay that's enough, time to go see you guys later.” Miroku interrupted taking Kin and running as fast as he could.
“You better pray I don't catch you before the wedding pictures are done!” Kagome screamed down the hall.
“Well, we probably need to start heading down, only about 25 minutes left.” Sango sighed. Yes, 25 minutes and she would be walking up that aisle to her future. The nerves were on. She just prayed she wouldn't chicken out.
