At least I'm still writing so when or IF (uuugggghhhhh!!!) the Internet comes back up I'll something to put up. So let's give you something to read! CCCCHHHHAAAARRRRGGGGEEEE!!!!

Chapter 15: My Guardian, Angel

Kagome sat in a chair at the dining room table with a pencil in her hand. On the piece of paper in front of her she drew the lake. She drew it just as it was when Inuyasha and her shared their kiss. There were small circles scattered across the lake from the rain. She drew dark clouds in the sky. The only light was coming from the moon that was barely seeping through the clouds. The grass seemed to sparkle with the raindrops placed on each blade.

“Nice drawing,” A voice came in her ear.

Kagome jumped as the pencil dropped on the table. She turned to see Kouga's face by her shoulder. “Kouga! Don't do that! You scared the shit out me!”

He backed up, “Okay sorry. Good morning to you too.”

“Yea `good' isn't exactly how I'd put it.” Kagome got up and took her drawing off the table and stuffed it in a drawer.

“Why? What's wrong?”

“Nothing I'm fine. I just didn't get enough sleep last night.” There was a hint of anger in her voice.

“So you talking in your sleep was not getting enough sleep?”

“I was talking in my sleep? What did I say?”

“I couldn't make it out.”

“Thank god.” Kagome whispered under her breath.

“What?”

“Nothing!” Kagome sighed. She sat back down and rested her head on her hand. I've got watch what I say or something going to slip out. If Kouga ever finds out about Inuyasha, who knows what he'll do. I've just got to act like nothing is wrong. This could be a challenge.

“Kagome? Kagome!”

Kagome broke from her daze, “What?”

“I asked if you could go put this away in my drawer.” Kouga handed her a folder. He was already on the other side of the room.

Kagome walked over and took it from his hand, “Sure Inuy- in your drawer? Is that what you said? Yea that's what you said. In your drawer. In. Your. Drawer.” Kagome shook her head as she headed towards the drawer.

“You were spacing out again.”

“What do you mean `again'? I don't remember doing that before.” Kagome put the folder in the drawer and shut it.

“Yes because you were spacing out. You've been doing it a lot lately. It's like you're here but… you're not.”

“You know I've heard that from so many people and I never understood what it meant.”

“Well you're here physically but mentally…the lights are on and nobody's home.”

There was a short silence from Kagome, “I'm sorry, did you say something?”

“See that's what I'm talking about!”

“What were you talking about?”

Kouga rolled his eyes and said nothing in response.

“What?”

“Is there something wrong with you that you haven't told me about?”

Kagome mouth dropped slightly, “Oh, now there's something wrong with me?”

“No! But there's something troubling you and as your boyfriend I'd like to know what it is.”

“NOTHING IS TROUBLING ME!”

“Yea it shows. Kagome you can't lie to me.” You wanna bet? Kagome thought as she looked down.

“I'm just tired. I-I need for a walk.” Kagome walked to door, grabbed a light jacket and walked out. She slammed the door behind her. She put her jacket on and walked down the stairs. Cold air came out of her mouth as she breathed. I'm never going to be able to pull this off. I just can't erase Inuyasha from my mind. Especially when he's the only one on it. Suddenly, she was knocked to her feet. She felt something wet lick her all over face. Whatever tackled her was pulled off her and she got up and wiped her face.

“I am so sorry! He really meant no harm.” In front of Kagome was a brunette woman with jeans and black sweater. There was a dog at her side with a black collar and a dog tag hooked on. His fur was almost silvery white with perked up ears. Now who does that remind me of?

“That's okay. I'm Kagome”

“I'm Maureen. And this is Angel.”

“We've met.” Kagome laughed.

Maureen smiled. “I really am sorry. He got loose from his leash. But he's very lovable. Wouldn't hurt a fly I promise.”

“It's fine, I love dogs. What kind of dog is he?” Kagome bent down and scratched behind Angel's ears. His leg shaked.

“He's a Shiba Inu.” Inu. Of course, Kagome thought.

“Oh. He is so cute!” Angel put his paws on her shoulders. Kagome balanced herself. “Whoa, and strong.”

“Yea. I call him my guardian angel. He would protect me from anything and never leave my side.”

“Reminds me of a guy I know.”

“Who?”

“A friend. A very good friend.”

“Hmmm, a boyfriend?” Maureen smirked.

“No. Just a friend.”

“Well your friend sounds like a great guy.”

“He is. He's a lot like your dog.”

“How much?”

“More than you would ever know.” Kagome laughed.

“Well it's good he's more like Angel than my last dog.”

“Why?”

Maureen shook her head, “Horrible dog. Ruined everything. He wasn't friendly at all; he scratched me really bad all the time. He ran away constantly.”

“What did you do with him?”

“I got rid of him. I mean why put up with that brat? He didn't make me feel good at all. Not like with Angel.” Maureen pet Angel's head.

Kagome thought to herself for a short moment. “Thanks Maureen. I think you just helped me with something. And thank you, Angel you helped a lot.” Angel licked Kagome's face.

“Glad to know that we helped. But if you don't mind me asking, with what?”

“With my friend.”

“Ah, I see. Well we have to go. We're kind of expected somewhere right now.” She winked at Angel.

“Okay. I'll see you later Maureen. Bye Angel.”

Kagome turned around but then she heard something clink to the pavement. She turned around.

“Hey Maureen did you drop—?” Kagome saw that no one was there, “something?”

She looked down. Angel's dog tag was on the sidewalk. She picked it up. She looked closely to see the engraving. It said, “My Guardian, ANGEL.” Kagome stood on her toes and searched for Maureen or Angel but nobody was there. She reached behind her neck and unhooked her necklace. She took the dog tag and hooked it onto her necklace. She put it back on. On the walk home, she couldn't help turning around every once in a while. When she got home, she thought long and hard. Finally she perked up her courage and picked up the phone.

“Hello?”

“It's me.”

“Kagome! What are—?”

“We need to talk. Meet at the park tomorrow.”

“Of course.”

Kagome hung up the phone and smiled. She went over to the drawer to take another look at her drawing. The drawer was stuck. She tugged harder until it flung open. Kouga's folder dropped to the floor and the papers flew out.

“Great,” Kagome groaned. She got on her hands and knees and started putting the papers back in. Then she came to some blue prints. Curious, she unfolded the prints and looked at them. It was a house.

“Now you've ruined the surprise,” Kouga said, standing over her.

“Kouga what are these?”

“Blue prints.”

“No, really? What for?”

“For the house I want to build for us.”

“For us? Kouga why did you—?”

Kouga got on his hands and knees. He leaned over and kissed Kagome on her lips. He pulled away, “Kagome I love you. And I only want the best for you. That's why I made this. So I'd make sure you would have the best.”

“Kouga I don't know what to say.”

“Say you love me.”

“I love you.”

“Good. Now I have to work an extra shift so I'll see you later.” Kouga kissed her again. He stood up and walked out the door. Kagome cleaned up the mess and sat in the same chair as she did that morning. She touched her lips, “Nothing. I feel nothing! Damnit! Why are they making it so hard?!” Kagome walked into the bedroom and laid down on the bed. She closed her eyes and tried to sleep. Voices kept entering her head.

“Your friend sounds like a great guy.”

“If you really want my opinion, I say you find some way to get through the locked door.”

“You're not really going to take Kouga are you?”

“If she wants Kouga, she can take Kouga.”

Kagome lay awake in her bed. I can't take this anymore!! It's driving me crazy! That's it! I have to do it!

By tomorrow, I'm making my decision.

A\N: Cliffhanger! Okay, now just wondering, but when Kagome made the phone call to Inuyasha were like YES FINALLY! But then when Kouga came out with the house blue prints and went all mushy on her were like NOOOOO!!!!! SO CLOSE!! I know but I actually just added that in. It was going to stop at the end of the phone call, but then I thought, “How can I piss off my readers?” Just kidding. But you have to admit it did make it more interesting. I loved putting Angel and Maureen in there. Especially when Kagome turns around and there's no one there. Creeeepy. Oh and I wanted to point this out for anyone who read it wrong. When the dog tag says “My Guardian, Angel” it's NOT “My Guardian Angel.” To clarify, it's My Guardian, then the dog's name, Angel. Get it? Got it? Good. Don't ask why it's like that. It just is. The power of the comma makes a BIG difference. I got that from my 6th grade teacher. Her example is funnier though. It's “Let's eat, Grandma!” Now leave the comma out and you get “Let's eat Grandma!” Well I'd better let you go. Written on May 18, 2008. Remember LunaStar* wuvs you all!
