A\N: Aloha! Okay this chapter is going to BLOW YOUR MIND! It's so…so…I can't even describe it. It's just going to freak you out! My co-writer was actually a little surprised at me. I made it dramatic. But really, what is a good story without drama in it? So anyway I'll let you go on to read. CHARGE!

 

Chapter 17: The Shot Heard `Round Japan

 

Kagome opened her eyes. Everything was blurry. She rubbed her eyes and looked at her clock. It was 5:30pm! How did she sleep in so late? “Shit!” she yelled. She quickly got dressed and went to the bedroom door and opened it slowly. No sign of Kouga. She picked up her suitcases and went to the door.

 

“Where do you think you're going?” a man's voice came from the hallway.

 

Kagome opened her mouth to say something but no words came out. Say something damnit! Kagome stood there…frozen. Say it! “Kouga I'm leaving you.” Not hard. Come on you coward! SAY IT!

 

“KouagI'mleavingyou!” Kagome shouted quickly. That's not exactly how I wanted you to say it, but okay. We're getting somewhere.

 

“What?” Kouga raised an eyebrow.

 

Kagome took a deep breath. “Kouga…I'm leaving you.”

 

“Why? I mean we were doing so well.”

 

“Kouga I'm—”

 

“You said you loved me.”

 

“Kouga you're not letting me explain—”

 

“How could do this to me?”

 

Kagome's mouth dropped, “Do this to you? Kouga, I'm leaving you because of what you're doing to me!”

 

“What am I doing to you?!”

 

Kagome shook her head and rolled up her sleeve to reveal the three scratches on her arm. “Kouga you're hurting me! You're abusing me!”

 

“That was one time and I said sorry!”

 

“Yeah well, sorry doesn't make scars disappear does it? Oh and by the way you've hurt me three times.”

 

“Three times?! Why didn't you tell me?”

 

“I asked myself the same question. And I never found the answer. So now I'm dumping you're sorry ass.” Kagome went to the door and turned the knob.

 

“This isn't just about the cuts is it?” Kouga asked. Kagome looked down. “It's someone else.”

 

Kagome sighed and turned around. She wasn't going to be a coward anymore, “Yeah, there is.”

 

“I knew it! This wasn't about the cuts at all! It's—”

 

“Whoa! Wait! I never said that! Kouga this is definitely about the cuts.”

 

“But that's not all. It's him. Inuyasha isn't it?” Kagome nodded. “How could you be with him? He just a stupid mutt.”

 

“That mutt is ten times the man you'll ever be!” At that instant, Kouga backhanded Kagome across the face. Her hair spread across her face. Kouga got wide-eyed at what he had done.

 

“Kagome, I'm—” Kouga tried to apologize, but it was too late.

 

She lost it.

 

“Don't…touch me. Don't you EVER TOUCH ME!”

 

“Kagome I'm not going to lose you to some low life half-breed!”

 

“You're a little too late there.” There was a pause.

 

“Where is he?” Kouga demanded.

 

“I'm not telling you.” Kouga wrapped his hand around Kagome's throat. Kagome gasped as she felt the air escape from her body. Her feet were a foot from the ground. She locked her hands on his wrists to try to break free.

 

“Where is he?” Kouga said angrier than before. Kagome continued to gasp for air. “WHERE?!”

 

“He's…a-at….the-the park!” Kagome answered feeling the last bit of air come out of her mouth. Kouga dropped Kagome and she fell and crashed into the glass coffee table. The glass shards were all over the floor. Her body went numb and she tried getting up but she couldn't. She just lay there trying to catch her breath. Kouga walked to the closet and took out a maple wood box. He took the item out of the box and started to head towards the door. Kagome's eyes followed him to the door.

 

“W-what are you going to do with that?” Kagome questioned as she watched the handgun to the door, praying to god it wasn't the answer she was thinking of.

 

“I'm taking care of that mutt once and for all. Don't even try to follow. You might not want to see this.” Kouga walked out the front door.

 

Hell yes I'm going to follow you! Kagome lifted herself carefully, avoiding all of the broken glass on the floor. She looked at the clock. That whole fight took half an hour. It was 6:30.

 

“Sundown! No!” Kagome ran out the door, down the stairs and out to the sidewalk. She ran her hardest to get there before it was too late. Finally, she reached the park. Inuyasha was already there, as was Kouga. They were already fighting.

 

“I love Kagome!” Kouga shouted.

 

“You do a great job of showing it!” Inuyasha snapped sarcastically, “If she really loved you, why would she be out with me almost every night?”

 

Kouga glared at Kagome. She started looking around and whistling as if she hadn't heard that. “You lied to me! I knew that Sango and Miroku relationship crap was a lie. But I believed you anyway! I feel like an idiot!”

 

“You finally said something that was right!” Inuyasha rolled his eyes.

 

Kagome was worried that Inuyasha would make Kouga even more mad, “Inuyasha, maybe you should back off a bit.”

 

“Why Kagome? You shouldn't have to put up with this crap!”

 

“Inuyasha trust me. You need to back off.”

 

“Maybe you should listen to her mutt. Let's just say it would be good for your health.” Kouga butted in.

 

“What is he talking about?” Inuyasha asked Kagome.

 

“I'm talking about this,” Kouga pulled the gun from his back pocket. Inuyasha backed up. Kouga aimed the gun at Inuyasha. They circled each other. Finally they stopped.

“You know what Kouga?” Inuyasha put his arms out to the sides. “Shoot me.”

 

“What are you saying?!” Kagome yelled.

 

“Shoot me. It's not going to change anything.”

 

“WHAT'S A MATTER WITH YOU?!” Kagome yelled louder. Is he trying to brave? HE'S BEING STUPID!

 

“Nothing. Kouga do you really think shooting me is going to make Kagome come back to you? She doesn't want you! She's never going to want you!”

 

“Shut up!” Kouga shouted.

 

“You know it's true! You just don't want to accept it. But it's the truth. So go ahead Kouga, shoot me. You're not doing anything for yourself.”

 

“Gladly.” Kouga was about to pull the trigger…

 

“One more thing,” Inuyasha put a finger up, “I'm a half-demon. Yeah, a half-breed, but that demon side doesn't let bullets kill me. So you're just wasting your time.”

 

 

Kagome turned around. The sun was just about to set. “No.” The sun faded faster. Kagome felt tears come to her eyes. “No. Please god no.” She turned around and looked at Inuyasha. His entire body was pulsing. His ears disappeared, his hair darkened to black, his fangs shrank to normal human teeth, and his nails reclined.

 

An evil smirk came across Kouga's face, “Oh you're wrong Inuyasha. This definitely makes a difference.”

 

Kouga raised the gun and fired.

 

“NO!” Kagome screamed.

 

The shot was loud. It echoed throughout the entire neighborhood. Some people looked out their windows. Some people got a little worried. They all knew it was a gunshot. But why it was fired no one knew except the three who were there.

 

Kouga dropped the gun and stared at the pool of blood in front of him.
