Chapter 18: Helllooooo Nurse!

 

“What did I do?” Kouga said to himself.

 

Inuyasha squinted his eyes open. He felt a warm liquid run over his hand. Shit. He shot me. Wait, why can't I feel any pain? He saw Kagome's unconscious body lying on top of him. She pushed me out of the way! WHY DID SHE DO THAT?! Inuyasha quickly got out from under her. He put his hand behind her neck and looked at her. No, Kagome! Why did you do that?

 

Inuyasha picked her up and ran. Damnit where's a hospital? He ran up to someone jogging and asked for the nearest hospital. The jogger pointed in the direction of the hospital and Inuyasha ran as fast as he could. He could feel Kagome's blood drop to the sidewalk. 0

 

When he reached the hospital he started yelling for help. Three doctors and a nurse rushed and took Kagome from his arms and put her on a stretcher. He told them what happened and they rushed her to a room as Inuyasha followed.

 

“Whoa, you can't go in there,” One of the doctors stopped him.

 

“Please doc?” Inuyasha pleaded.

 

“Sorry son. I get you when we get the bullet out.” The doctor walked into the ER. Those words hurt Inuyasha. To think that Kagome took the bullet for him made him felt like he was the one who got shot. He looked down at his hands. Even without his demon sense of smell he couldn't stand smelling her blood on his hands. He walked to the bathroom.

 

He rinsed his hands in the sink. I can't believe her blood is on my hands. How much did she lose? What if she lost too much? What if she doesn't make it? Stop it! She'll be fine. I want to see her. I need to see her. Inuyasha didn't want to accept that his beloved Kagome was in the ER getting a bullet out of her. It hurt him too much. He wished the bullet would've hit him instead. He took a few deep breaths and walked back to seat outside the ER.

 

He saw Kouga waiting outside the ER. His whole body filled with rage at the sight of the reason Kagome was here. The reason her blood had covered his hands.

 

“What are you doing here?”

 

“I came to see if she was okay.”

 

“Yeah, a bullet lodged into her. She feels just happy dandy! You shouldn't be here.”

 

“And yet I am.”

 

“You do realize it's your fault she's here.”

 

“No, that bullet was meant for you. I didn't force her to push you out of the way. She did that on her own. It's actually your fault.”

 

“Yeah I told her to push me out of the way.” Inuyasha said sarcastically.

 

“But if you hadn't been an idiot and told me to shoot you, she wouldn't have been worried about you and pushed you out of the way.”

 

“That doesn't make sense!” Inuyasha yelled at him.

 

“Yeah it does.” Kouga started to walk away.

 

“Where are you going?”

 

“Nowhere you should know about.”

 

“I thought you were going to make sure she was okay.”

 

“She has you for that.” Kouga walked out the hospital doors.

 

Why was he acting so weird? Inuyasha wondered until he saw a familiar young nurse walk out of the ER and up to him.

 

“Rin?”

 

“Hey Inu!” the perky nurse said.

 

“What are you doing in a nurse's uniform?”

 

Rin rolled her eyes, “I decided to play dress up. No, I work here remember?”

 

“Oh yeah.”

 

“I saw you bring in Kagome—”

 

“How do you know her name?”

 

Rin rolled her eyes again and showed him Kagome's name on her clipboard.

 

“Oh.”

 

“Yeah, and…you know I probably shouldn't tell you.”

 

“What? Is it about Kagome?”

 

“No.”

 

“Well what is it?”

 

“I called your brother.”

 

“WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!”

 

“I told him you were in a time of need.”

 

“SO YOU CALLED HIM?!”

 

“Weird. That's what he said.”

 

“BECAUSE HE KNOWS THAT IF I'M IN A TIME OF NEED, HE SHOULDN'T BE THERE OR HE'S THE ONE THAT CAUSED IT!”

 

“Inuyasha calm down!”

 

Inuyasha put his hands on Rin's shoulders, “Rin just please tell me he said he isn't coming!”

 

“I can't do that.”

 

“AHH!” Inuyasha started banging his head against the wall.

 

“Stop Inuyasha! There is a bright side.”

 

“Sesshomaru is coming on a stretcher with a knife in his back?”

 

“Well that's not very nice.”

 

“I don't give a damn.”

 

“Well then I guess I can't tell you about Kagome.”

 

“What about Kagome?!”

 

“I'll tell you when you tell me something.”

 

“What is it?”

 

“Tell me you love your brother.” Inuyasha's jaw almost dropped to the floor and his eyes almost popped out of his sockets. But he had to know if Kagome was okay.

 

“Ilvvmmmbrthr.” Inuyasha mumbled.

 

“I can't hear you!”

 

Inuyasha huffed, “I love my brother. OH GOD I SAID IT!!”

 

“Now was that so hard?”

 

“Trying to not gag, yeah that was pretty hard.”

 

“Kagome's fine. The bullet just missed her spine. So she's not paralyzed. You can go see her if you want.”

 

“Thank you Rin.”

 

“Your welcome.” Inuyasha walked into the ER.

 

“Helllooooo nurse.” A voice came from behind Rin. She smiled.

 

“Hi baby.” Rin hugged Sesshomaru.

 

“Someone call a doctor! I think I'm having a heart attack! This woman is too beautiful!” Sesshomaru dropped to his knees and clenched his heart as if he were having a heart attack. He held Rin's hand, “I promise Rin, I'll never let go!” Sesshomaru then let go of her hand and felled to the floor and stuck his tongue out indicating he was dead.

 

“Hey that's from Titanic. You watched it!”

 

Sesshomaru jumped up, “Yes I did and that part made no sense to me.”

 

“What do you mean `it made no sense'?”

 

“She holding on to him, and then says `I'll never let go' and then she lets go!”

 

“She meant that metaphorically. Like she'll never let go of their love.”

 

“Oh well she should've said that.”

 

Rin couldn't help but laugh at her boyfriend.

Inuyasha sat next to Kagome's hospital bed. He thought she looked like an angel in her sleep. But he wanted her to wake up. He wanted to see her sparkling brown eyes looking back at him. He wanted to hear her voice in his ear. He sighed and touched her hand. Her eyes started to open.

 

“Ow, my side hurts,” Kagome tried getting up, “and I can't get up…Shit!”

 

“What?” Inuyasha asked.

 

“Doctors, nurses, tubes up my arm, and basic cable…I'm in hell.”

 

“No, you're in a hospital.”

 

“Thanks Einstein. What happened?”

 

She doesn't remember? “Kouga fired the gun and you pushed me out of the way. It got you instead.”

 

“Oh yeah.”

 

“Why did you do that?”

 

“I didn't want to lose you.”

 

“Well I don't want to lose you. You're everything to me.”

 

“I'm sorry. It's just you said `shoot me' and I knew you were serious and I didn't want him to shoot you.”

 

“Kagome I could've moved out of the way.”

 

“I hadn't thought of that. The only thing running through my mind was losing you. I couldn't have that. I…I love you Inuyasha.”

 

Inuyasha smiled, “I love you too, Kagome.” Inuyasha leaned down and kissed her. Kagome's smiled. But then…

 

“HELLO!” Sesshomaru shouted from the doorway. Inuyasha and Kagome pulled away from each other and looked the other way, blushing. “Oh y'all getting freaky in here!”

 

“Sesshomaru!” Rin said, slapping him upside the head.

 

“Ow!” Sesshomaru rubbed his head. “The truth hurts.”

 

“Speaking of hurting, how are you feeling Kagome?” Rin asked.

 

“Fine…now,” Kagome answered smiling at Inuyasha.

 

“You must be something special if Inuyasha is willing to say he loves his brother just to see if you were okay.”

 

“AWWWW! I LOVE YOU TOO LITTLE BRO!!” Sesshomaru went towards Inuyasha with open arms. Inuyasha quickly got out of his seat to get away from him.

 

“Sesshomaru, no DON'T TOUCH ME! I'M CLEAN! I'M CLEAN!” Too late. Sesshomaru wrapped his arms around his brother and picked him up off the floor. “OH! OH! OH! NOW I HAVE TO BURN MY CLOTHES AND…SESSHOMARU I CAN'T BREATHE!”

 

“I KNOW! I JUST WANT TO HUG YOU TO DEATH!”

 

“Sesshomaru put him down!” Rin shouted. Sesshomaru put his brother back down.

 

“Whipped.” Inuyasha teased.

 

“Shut it Shiba!” Sesshomaru snapped.

 

“DON'T CALL ME THAT!”

 

Rin and Kagome looked at each other, “Shiba?” they asked.

 

“It's his—”

 

“DON'T SAY IT!”

 

“Okay……………IT'S HIS FIRST NAME!”

 

“FUCK YOU!”

 

“I'd rather you not do that.”

 

“YOU'RE NASTY!”

 

“YOU OFFERED!”

 

“NOT LIKE THAT YOU…YOU…YOU MIROKU!”

 

“OH THAT'S JUST PLAIN EVIL!”

“Inuyasha how could you even say something like that?” Kagome interrupted.

 

“KAGOME! HE HURT MY FEELINGS!” Sesshomaru went over to Kagome and put his head in her lap and started fake crying. Kagome patted Sesshomaru's head.

 

“Inuyasha say you're sorry.”

 

“No!”

 

“Inuyasha!”

 

“Fine. I'm sorry.”

 

“For what?”

 

“For saying you're a Miroku.”

 

“Thank you very much.” Sesshomaru said.

 

“You're much worse than that.”

 

“Hey!” Sesshomaru shouted. Rin and Kagome sighed, and put their hands to their forehead.

 

“I'M WORSE?! WHATEVER! AT LEAST I'M NOT STUPID!” Sesshomaru yelled.

 

“YOU WANT A SECOND OPINION ON THAT?!”

 

“NO! I'M NOT THE ONE WHO THINKS THE CAPITAL OF FRANCE IS `F'!”

 

“IT IS!”

 

“THE CITY RETARD!”

 

“WHO GIVES A CRAP?!”

 

“THE FRENCH PEOPLE! FRENCH FRIES! FRENCH TOAST! ES CARGO!”

 

“What does that mean?” Inuyasha questioned.

 

“YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS?!”

 

“His car go fast? I DON'T KNOW!”

 

“IT MEANS SNAILS!”

 

“So his car go slow?”

 

Sesshomaru shook his head.

 

“I'm tired of you two fighting! Sesshomaru we have to go.” Rin demanded.

 

“No! I'm not finished with him yet I—”

 

“Sesshomaru get your ass through this door!” Rin shouted.

 

“Fine.” Sesshomaru walked out the door.

 

“WHIPPED!”

 

“SHUT IT SHIBA!” Rin slammed the door behind her.

 

“So I'm going to have to get used to that.” Kagome said

 

“Sorry.”

 

“It's okay. I have a younger brother. I'm pretty sure I can handle anything.”

 

“That's good.” Inuyasha sat back down next to her. “Now, where were we?” Inuyasha smiled as he kissed Kagome on her lips.

A\N: Funny! Man that was LONG! But I hoped you liked it! Now I bet in the last chapter you thought Inuyasha got shot. Wrong! I made Kagome get shot. My co-writer thought I should've said that Kagome charged at him but then I was like, NO THAT GIVES IT AWAY! So I made it this way. And if you asked me it sounds better!
