We Will Become Silhouettes

Chapter 22: The Future; Yours and Mine

A black veil seemed to surround the castle, making every thing appear desolate and hopeless. There still was no sign of Amarante, and even though the Lord of the West and his troops had returned, no one seemed to be able to show any happiness. War had been declared the day after Kagura's body had been shipped to its owner, and now it was up to Inutaishou to gather a sufficient amount of troops to march over Naraku's lands. The war would begin in just a few weeks'…hell even days depending on how long it took to get preparations in order. Inutaishou had stated blatantly that Sesshomaru would be made to fight in this war, but in the mean time he was made to rot in the dungeon. He had been thrown down there as soon as Inuyasha had woken up. Hell he didn't even get to speak with him!

He was alive though…and that's all that mattered. He didn't care if he hated him, though he would prefer not, he didn't care if he wanted him back…although there's nothing he desired more in the world, but he wouldn't think of that now. After all Inuyasha was alive, and awake, and hopefully getting better. Though he couldn't deny that everything in him wanted to see the mutt…if he could just talk to him for a while, anything to know he was really okay. He had been down in this dungeon for days now, and if Inutaishou forced him to stay in here after the war was over it would still be worth it if he just talk to his lover once more and actually have him talk back.

He let his head slink against the cage he was presiding in. He heard nothing about what was going on up there. No, all he heard was the deafening silence that did nothing to calm his nerves…or his guilt.

Using his standing in the household he had forced a servant bringing him his food to tell him some of what was going on while he sat stories below the rest and rotted. She had said the Lord of East had come for his daughter's body, and that upon hearing the story had agreed to give the west 40,000 troops to aid their cause. He knew that the added number would help immensely, and yet he had a feeling that if the Lord knew it was Sesshomaru who had slain Lycani and not Naraku, he might not be so quick to offer his help, or his men.

He knew he deserved worse than being locked in a cell, but that didn't mean he had to like it. How could Inutaishou keep him down here with all the shit going on? How could he punish him when he had been the one to save Inuyasha's life!?...Regardless of the fact that he had been responsible for putting him in that position in the first place.

He ran a hand through his dirty hair, having never been allowed to bathe or change from the time he had been holding Inuyasha on the brink of death. A the time he hadn't cared, but having to smell the stench of his mate's blood on himself reopened wounds he tried his best not to think about.

The sound of heavy padded footsteps broke him out of his fit of guilt, and he looked hopefully forward, knowing that this wasn't just one of the servants forced to bring him something. No the scent of the Lord of the West wafted into his nostrils, and he felt anxious on just what kind of news he could be bringing.

Inutaishou's face had taken on a haggard appearance since the last time he saw him, and his eyes held dark circles around him testifying to the stress he was no doubt under and his lack of sleep.

“My Lord?” Sesshomaru asked, addressing the inu-youkai who seemed content to just to stare at him in hatred. He didn't know what had forced him to have to come down here, but at the look he was receiving he wasn't all that sure he wanted to know.

“You are to come upstairs with me, bathe, and then treat my son's wounds.” He stated dispassionately, giving Sesshomaru a look that could kill as he was doing so. But the youkai couldn't bring himself to care about such things, because the Lord had just said he would be allowed to see Inuyasha…something he had never dreamed he would be allowed to do for quite a few years.

Sesshomaru stood up from his dirty position on the floor, wiping the soot and grime off his already ruined clothing. “His wounds?” He asked, not really seeing why Inutaishou would choose him for such a task.

“Yes.” He bit out testily. “His wounds. You see my son is very stubborn, and is not allowing anyone near him until he gets to talk to you, and so to avoid him getting an infection I'm giving into his demands.”

Sesshomaru nodded, feeling his stomach tightening at just the prospect. Even though he longed to see Inuyasha with everything he had, the thought also terrified him, because except that small moment he had seen him when he had woken up, Sesshomaru hadn't had a chance to talk to him about anything. Hell he didn't even know where he stood with his stepbrother. For all he knew Inuyasha could have called him up just to spew his hatred for him, and knowing the hanyou that was more than likely the case. Though Sesshomaru didn't blame him…not after what had happened between them…not after he had all but raped him.

The though still caused his stomach to turn. He was beyond forgiveness after such an act. And even with all the things Inuyasha had put up with from him, he doubted even he could forgive this one. The mark, still fresh on the hanyou's skin, was enough to testify to his transgressions…he would in them. Yet, he couldn't help but let a little shred of hope course through him that maybe…just maybe, he could make it right.

ssssssssss

After he had emerged from the bathhouse, he headed towards Inuyasha's room; swallowing the lump in his throat from the nervousness he was feeling. Inutaishou had refused to speak to him as they headed up the stairs, and so he wasn't even sure what to expect when he walked through that door. Had Inuyasha even begun to heal?

Knowing he had no choice anymore, Sesshomaru tried to still his beating heart as he slid open the door to face his future or his damnation. He clenched the medical supplies hard in his hands as his eyes took in the site of the figure on the bed, and honestly it was like seeing him made his heart clench to the point it hurt.

“Inuyasha.” Was the throaty whisper that escaped him as he took in the hanyou's somewhat haggard appearance. He seemed to have lost a lot of weight from this entire ordeal, which wasn't surprising seeing as how he had been unconscious for a good part of the last month. His skin was paler than usually, so much in fact that it was almost translucent in the light from the loss of blood he had endured that his body still hadn't fully recovered from…but even with all this, Sesshomaru still thought he looked beautiful.

He walked closer to the bed, noticing how Inuyasha's eyes followed him the entire time, and yet he had still yet to say a word. Placing the supplies down on the bed, Sesshomaru hesitantly reached out to the hanyou's bare wrapped torso; only to pause halfway and let his hands drop back down to his sides.

“How are you?” Sesshomaru asked, not being able to will himself to touch the hanyou at the moment, and it seemed Inuyasha wasn't all that happy with his hesitation, because he got a scowl on his face and looked away.

“Feh, like you care.” Was his barked out response, and Sesshomaru noticed how his breathing seemed to be rather labored, and how he kept holding his stomach as if in pain…which wasn't surprising.

Though at the snide tone in the younger's voice, Sesshomaru couldn't help but feel that little twinge of annoyance behind the base of his skull that he got whenever Inuyasha got into one of his moods, and he found that with that annoyance the scared little guilty puppy he had turned into was slowly beginning to fade.

“I see that encased in a body that might as well be a corpse you still find the time to overreact about everything.” He said coldly, but as soon as the words had left his lips he knew that they were the wrong ones.

“Overreact? OVERREACT!?” Sesshomaru winced at the anger in his lover's voice, and could do nothing but quietly stare until he was done with his tirade. “You fucking RAPED me, and then made me a sex slave! So I don't think that I'M overreacting one bit!”

Sesshomaru felt his heart go cold as the overwhelming guilt once more flooded into him. It didn't help at all that Inuyasha was now clutching his stomach as hard as he could to hide the pain he was no doubt in from screaming with his injuries.

He wanted to say so much. He wanted to break down in apology and beg his mate's forgiveness for all the horrible things he had done. He wanted to tell him that he loved him, and ask to be taken back. But he did none of those things, because how could he? No, instead he just replied to the accusation with…

“Your bandages need to be changed.” Inuyasha's eyes narrowed to slits, and Sesshomaru was fairly certain that if he had the strength in him that he would have attacked the elder right there.

“I don't want you anywhere near me.” He hissed, claws flexing where he held his injured flesh. “I called you here so that look at your face once more…to see you after you were yourself again, but I see that you truly did mean it…there's no remorse at all inside you.”

“It's not true…” Sesshomaru barely whispered, looking to the floor to avoid the hanyou's hateful gaze. “I don't know what to do…I just…” Fully aware that he was now a full blow stuttering mess, the youkai scowled with self hatred at his looked pleadingly up into golden eyes. “Please.” He asked. “Just let me tend to your wounds.”

It seemed for a moment that Inuyasha was going to scream again, but then he just simply frowned and gave a small nod of approval. Though that small nod was enough to give the youkai hope, settling his weight on the bed as he began to get the supplies he needed out to treat the wounds that were already starting to reek of infection.

His hands reached out to Inuyasha, who had yet to say anymore, and right before they touched his flesh the fell back yet again. He didn't know why it was so hard for him to touch him. It was just that after everything that had happened he didn't know if he was worthy enough to touch the flesh that had made him cry out in ecstasy so many times before.

“Are you going to change them or not?” Inuyasha snipped. “It's not like you to be so hesitant…if I knew any better I'd say you were feeling guilty.” Their gazes met then as the younger sent him a look as cold as death. “But then again I guess it's a good thing I know better.”

He knew he deserved it, so he bit back his reply, and instead just responded with what he knew was true. “I just don't want to see what's underneath.” The cold look fell from Inuyasha at that, and he gripped his stomach all the harder.

“It's not as bad as it was…my body is working slowly but surely to make it so I don't kick the bucket…it still hurts like a bitch though.” The hanyou gave a small laugh, and at hearing him joke about such things, Sesshomaru got a little more courage and reached out to undo the bandage covering his torso.

As he continued to unwrap the bandages, he noticed how they grew darker and darker the closer he got to the wound. By the time he reached skin the wraps were a sickly black color from Inuyasha's putrid infected blood.

He saw the scabbed over wounds along his stomach that his body was desperately trying to heal, and he couldn't help but reach out, tracing the ruined flesh and hearing a sharp intake of breath from Inuyasha as he did so.

“I'll kill him you know.” Sesshomaru whispered, looking up into Inuyasha's eyes with much more conviction. “I swear to you I'll make him wish he had never touched you.”

“And for what he did to you?” Inuyasha asked, and the inu-youkai didn't even have to guess what he was talking about.

“That was a long time ago.” He replied, hoping that the hanyou would drop it as his fingers tenderly traced along his wounds…needing Inuyasha to drop it.

“Wasn't that long.” Inuyasha grunted as Sesshomaru pressed into the larger wound along his chest and watched some of the infectious blood ooze out. However, he was sure that Inuyasha hadn't known that he had smashed through the last thing that was holding the youkai together at those words.

“I didn't…I never wanted this to happen.” He saw something wet slide down Inuyasha's stomach, and it was only after he had reached out to examine it did he realize it was a tear…and his eyes were blurry. How long had he been crying?

“He forced those travesties upon me, and then I did the same thing to you…I'm beyond your forgiveness.” His words were forced, choked…and it seemed he had finally reached the point of breaking. “I never want to hurt you…I care for you so much…I'd make it right if I could…I…I…”

“Sessh…” Inuyasha whispered, reaching out and tentively[assiduously] laying a hand on his shoulder in comfort. That hand on his shoulder began tracing comforting patterns on his flesh as Sesshomaru willed his mind to regain control on his treacherous body that was crying as if he was some little bitch.

He didn't know how it happened, but somehow he was settled against Inuyasha's chest, face buried in the pale flesh that had to ache everywhere. “Do you hate me?” He asked quietly, withdrawing himself from his lover to stare up into sad golden eyes. …Did he really look that pitiful?

“…Sometimes.” Was the barely audible words that came from Inuyasha. “But I can't…I never can…” He wasn't aware of how close they were until he felt warm breathing reverberating off his lips, and he knew right then just what was going to happen.

Their lips barely touched, neither pushing for a passionate make-out session…neither knowing really what to do even though they'd done such a thing hundreds of times. It was Sesshomaru that moved first, placing a little more pressure onto the lips connected to his own, tasting Inuyasha's essence mixed with the salty flavor of tears still flowing down his face.

He moved just a little, massaging the lips beneath his that seemed ever too hesitant to kiss back. He needed him to kiss back though…he needed to know that Inuyasha was still his. Reaching out, he let a hand fist through the soft white hair that had been washed clean of all the blood that had been tangled in it, he pulled Inuyasha closer, opening his mouth slightly so that their lips slid together, just close enough so that he could feel the silkiness of Inuyasha's against his own as he tasted his mate.

It was over much too quickly as he dragged himself away, watching the tiny chain of saliva that connected them as they parted. Inuyasha's eyes were far away as he reached to his lips then, tracing the way Sesshomaru had kissed him.

“Promise it'll be different...I don't even care if it's a lie, just promise me.” Inuyasha's eyes came back to him then, and he noticed how they were glistening with tears. “I've died for you one time Sessh, and I won't do it again.”

Sesshomaru reached out, catching the first tear before it could ever fall from the hanyou's eyes and placing it to his lips. “I promise…I will never hurt you again.” Sighing, Sesshomaru took a wet rag and dabbed it at Inuyasha's wounds, not really knowing where to go from there.

“How are your wounds healing?” Inuyasha shrugged, lifting his arms up so that Sesshomaru could continue to clean him.

“Okay I guess. I can almost walk three feet without collapsing, so I guess that's an improvement to not being able to walk at all.” He scoffed. “How pathetic is that?”

“Not being able to walk for awhile really isn't that terrible in the long run, you were lucky…you could have died.” Sesshomaru stated, grimacing in emotional pain as he began to clean the wound on Inuyasha's shoulder that he himself had inflicted.

Inuyasha snorted, crossing his arms over his chest as his stepbrother continued to treat his shoulder. “Yeah?...Who's says it's lucky?” The hand wiping away the excess blood stilled, and a cold feeling went down Sesshomaru's spine.

“Are you saying you'd rather be dead?” The inu-youkai's voice had taken on a sharp tone to it as he began to place the fresh bandages to Inuyasha's skin.

“I…I don't know…sometimes I think it would have been easier, but then I don't want to give them the pleasure of seeing me croak.” Sesshomaru's claws dug into the bandages, trying to control the angry tirade that was about to escape him, and he would say he was doing a fairly good job…that is until Inuyasha opened his mouth again. “Plus, if I were dead I wouldn't have to be sitting here pretending to forgive you.”

“Pretending?” Sesshomaru hissed, meeting Inuyasha's eyes and once again not being able to read anything from his features. “And why is it mutt that you would see the need to pretend?”

Inuyasha looked down, fisting his hands into the bed as Sesshomaru finished tying the bandages a little harder than he probably should have. “It's because…I hate you now, but that probably won't always be the case.” He spit the words back at him that he had said before this mess ever started, looking up to the inu-youkai with a scowl on his face. “And unlike you, I learn from my mistakes.”

Sesshomaru's eyes narrowed, knowing Inuyasha was getting much too close to the line. “And what mistakes have I not learned from?” He asked, ready to break if he so much as ghosted over what he thought he was going for.

But Inuyasha didn't ghost over such a thing…no, he trampled over it. “Naraku told me, yeh know…History does seem to repeat itself.” He was pretty much saying the exact same thing he had just confessed a moment ago, and yet with the disgust in his voice, Sesshomaru couldn't take it. He couldn't take Inuyasha telling him of his greatest sin!

“Bite your tongue!” Before he even realized he had moved his hand was flying through the air, backhanding the hanyou across the face and sending his head flying towards the side, making a sickening crack as his face was covered in a blanket of white hair, preventing him from seeing the look of shock that was no doubt covering his face…the shock that was mirrored on Sesshomaru's own.

Had he just…had he really just hit him? “Dagger I'm so…” But he was never allowed to continue.

“Don't call me that!” Inuyasha bit out, expressing the usual amount of anger for using his pet name when they were fighting. He pushed the hair out of his face, turning back towards the front and wiping the small trickle of blood that had fallen from his busted lip. “Gee…I can see how much you want to change.” He sneered, pointing towards the door. “Now get out. My bandages are changed, and so you have no other reason to be here.”

He knew he had lost this fight. He had overreacted in the exact moment when he shouldn't have, because he knew it was a test Inuyasha was putting him through. He had done the one thing he could to condemn himself, and now he might be damned forever. If things kept up it would be a never-ending cycle until one of them killed each other, and so he did the only thing he could to try to think of a way to end this…he grabbed the back of Inuyasha's head and pulled him forward, forcefully crushing their lips together in a heated kiss.

At first the kiss was awkward, mainly due to the fact that Inuyasha's hands were on his shoulder, trying his hardest to push him away while Sesshomaru pressed his lips hard enough against the other to bruise. He wouldn't lose him. He refused to lose him now that he had gotten him back! He didn't even care if he had to make him like it! Inuyasha was his, forever and always!

After about a minute of the painful kiss, Inuyasha's struggle started to slow down, and soon had stopped altogether, giving the youkai more room to turn the kiss gentler, slowly kneading their lips together and actually smiling when he felt the hanyou begin to hesitantly respond.

He let his fingers twirl in his hair then, tilting his head back so that he could get a better angle, dipping his tongue out of his own mouth and pressing gently against Inuyasha's tightly shut lips…slowly prodding them open and allowing himself to taste his lover in a way he hadn't in so long.

Sesshomaru's tongue sensually traced the roof of Inuyasha's mouth, ghosting over the hanyou's tongue and loving how every time their appendages touched a shiver seemed to go down his mate's spine. He pressed further against the fragile body, making Inuyasha have to lean backwards as the youkai towered over him, pressing even deeper into that mouth he had long ago made his own.

His lungs were aching for him to take a breath, but he let the haziness fill his brain as he continued to devour those lips, tasting every inch of the other's mouth as they both fell backwards onto the bed, Sesshomaru making sure to support all of his own weight, so as not to injure the hanyou even more.

He pulled away then, looking down into gorgeous sparkling golden eyes and said the one thing he should have said long ago. “You must know how much I love you.” Was practically whispered against the other's lips, and at hearing such a thing, Inuyasha reached up, pulling Sesshomaru's lips back towards his own.

Sesshomaru, did not want to say such words…words that when used too often lost their meaning. But now, he felt it was the only way to keep his mate with him, for him not to be disgusted by his presence, his taste, and his touches…

Their was more passion in this kiss, and Sesshomaru knew that with every second that passed a little more anger between them was beginning to fade away. He knew they weren't back to normal…or as normal as they ever were, but then again being right where he was now, he didn't feel doomed.

It was then, as they were wrapped in each other's arms and lips, that the door slid open, and a gruff scoff was what finally made them pull away. The youkai turned from the one under him to see Inutaishou standing in the doorway, staring at both of them in disappointment as he obviously fought off everything in him telling him to yell at the two and pull them apart.

“Sesshomaru you need to get ready. We move out in an hour.” The arms around his neck tensed, and he looked down to see the look of worry that was covering Inuyasha's face.

“You're leaving already?...but I'm not healed yet. If you only wait a few days more I'll be ready to head out.” Sesshomaru was about to tell the temperamental hanyou underneath him that he was insane if he ever thought that he would be allowed to go anywhere near Naraku to fight, but his father beat him to it.

“You don't have to worry about being ready Inuyasha, because there's no way I'd allow you to go even if you were in tip top shape.” Golden eyes narrowed, and knowing that he was about to blow up and yell, Sesshomaru quickly moved away from his lover, sitting beside him on the bed instead.

“You can't be serious!” He yelled. “How can you expect me to stay here when that bastard that did this to me is out there!” Inuyasha pushed himself up, flexing his claws as he beamed his reason to his father. “I'm going to find that fucked up freak and gut him from groin to sternum!”

“You're not to go anywhere near him!” Sesshomaru wasn't even aware such a thing had come from him until both Inuyasha and Inutaishou turned towards him. Though now that the focus was on him, he couldn't help but lose a little of the spark he had just let out with. “I won't let you near Naraku…he'll never see you again.”

“Why the hell not!?” Inuyasha barked back with. “Don't I deserve my revenge?” Sesshomaru reached out to his burly mate, tracing his cheekbones and ignoring the warning look of anger in those eyes.

“Yes, but I will get it for you. I'll make him suffer, you have my word on that.” Inuyasha slapped the hand away, glaring heatedly at the one who had offered the touch.

“Why do you get to kill him and I don't?” He growled, crossing his arms over his chest as he huffed and looked the other way.

“Because he hurt you.” Sesshomaru replied, thinking that would quiet the hanyou, unfortunately it only restarted his fuse.

“He hurt you too!” Inuyasha spun on him, grabbing at his kimono and pulling him close. “He hurt you worse than he could ever have hurt me, and yet you're allowed to go after him!” The grip on his kimono tightened as he pulled Sesshomaru closer. “You're the one he wants to claim…you're the one he wants to fuck!”

“Enough!” Inutaishou bellowed, and Sesshomaru had never been more grateful for such a distraction in his life, for it stopped the cold dark feeling from taking over his mind.

“Inuyasha you will stay here. You are not well enough to travel, and besides that I need someone to look over the land.” Inutaishou took a deep breath, obviously pushing the anger over the situation back. “Amarante is still missing, and I need Sesshomaru to fight, so that leaves no one else to do it.” He lectured. “Or do you want our lands to fall to turmoil while we're away?”

Inuyasha's head sunk, as his flexing claws turned lax. “I understand Father, I'll do my best to make sure the Western Lands don't fall…just.” He looked up towards Sesshomaru first, “Kill `em for me…kill him good.” He requested to which Sesshomaru gave a nod, and it seemed to take a lot of courage for Inuyasha to turn sorrow filled eyes back towards the Lord of the West. “And tell Lycani's dad that I'm sorry…I'm so sorry I couldn't protect her from that bastard.”

Sesshomaru shut his eyes, remembered his claws sunk deep into the inu-youkai's chest. He remembered how her warm blood dribbled down his arm and onto the sleeping hanyou in his arms, and he remembered how happy he had felt in that time of chaos to know she was dead. Would Inuyasha ever forgive him if he had found out it had been him to kill Lycani, and not Naraku? …In any case that was one matter he was not willing to gamble on. If they wanted to blame that bastard half-breed for her death, then he would let them.

“I will give him your words, and I am sure if she were alive she would not blame you for what happened.” Inuyasha gave a sad nod, seeming to shrink into himself as the arms over his chest wrapped closer around him.

“Yeah…until she realized that it was all my fault.” Was his quiet confession, and Sesshomaru knew that if they continued on with such train of thought, Inuyasha would once more be left in a depression.

“I shall go get prepared to leave.” He turned towards Inuyasha, placing a quick chaste kiss on his lips. “I will be back to say good-bye.” Was all he said before making his way out of the room and off to prepare for that damned war.

sssssssss

Inuyasha took in a deep breath, that had actually gone a lot better than he had thought it would. In his mind seeing Sesshomaru again had involved fire and brimstone, well either that or him jumping off the bed and groveling at Sesshomaru's feet for him to take him back…but he supposed the reason that hadn't occurred was the fact that he still couldn't walk yet, let alone jump.

What he had went through in the last few weeks had been the closest to hell that he could think of. The agonizing experience with Sesshomaru, only led to an even more agonizing one at Naraku's hand. But Sesshomaru had come to save him. After everything that he had spouted about not giving a shit about him he had come to save him, and hell he had even come to the one place he probably feared above all others.

Truthfully he didn't remember much from when he was unconscious, but Miroku had told him that Sesshomaru stayed beside him day and night. He had even been going on about how broken the youkai was…as if that could ever happen. He couldn't picture such a site, and honestly he thought they were just telling him that so that he would feel sorry for his lover and take him back…though he couldn't imagine why, because he was fairly certain Miroku hated Sesshomaru…as a matter of fact they all did.

Even though what Sesshomaru had done had been beyond extreme, in some ways he could understand why. Their blood was close to boiling most of the time, and with them playing the game of `who could hurt who most' it was only a matter of time before one of them snapped.

He had told this once to his father, who had promptly freaked out on him and pretty much called Sesshomaru the devil before stomping off. He didn't know why, but there was an unusual amount of pain reflected behind his dad's eyes, as if this was affecting him beyond Inuyasha's pain. He had asked him about it once, and the only reply he got was `Touga would have taught him better' He knew that Touga was Sesshomaru's father, but he still couldn't understand why it was affecting his dad so much…it was almost as if you could see the pain reflected behind those eyes at any mention of the supposed great warrior Sesshomaru's father had been.

“Do you know what you're doing?” Was the voice that interrupted his train of thought, and he turned towards his father who still had that same disapproving look on his face.

“Do you mean about running the lands, or about Sesshomaru?” The only reply to that was a stern look, and so with a sigh Inuyasha knew that after the lord had witnessed such a thing between him and his stepbrother there was no avoiding this conversation.

“I don't trust him yet, but I love him.” He said, feeling his heart twitch at such a seemingly blasphemous statement…it had done the same thing when Sesshomaru had said it to him. “He's the only one I want.”

He wanted his father to understand…no he needed him to, because if he didn't understand then how was he possibly going to convince himself of such a thing when he was the one he had to endure everything Sesshomaru put him through.

“He's not stable…he hasn't been right since his father died.” This again…he had to listen to this same shit every day since he had woken up.

“I don't care!” He yelled, slamming his hands on the bed, and upsetting the recently formed scabs over his wounds. “I don't care if he's not like he used to be! I didn't even know him then!” He felt treacherous tears coming to his eyes, and he clenched his eyes shut to try to stop them from falling. “I'm not saying I'm welcoming him back with open arms! I'm not! I just don't want to let him go forever!”

Inuyasha wasn't aware when he had started to cry, but he was aware of the comforting arms that wrapped around him, pulling him close in a gesture he hadn't received since he was a child. It hurt like hell…his body shook, irritating his injuries even more as he clutched at his father's clothes, burying his face in his chest and just letting himself be held. He didn't know what he wanted…it would be so much easier if he could just hate him. Why was it that he could never just hate him?

He wasn't even aware how long he was there, cuddled into his father's chest, but he knew that quite some time must have passed when he heard footsteps near the door, and he sat up, wiping his eyes to stare at the magnificent sight of Sesshomaru in his armor.

“Are you alright?” Was the first thing his stepbrother said to him, and Inuyasha knew that he must look absolutely awful from crying. Pulling away from his father, he gave the youkai a weak nod, and couldn't find the will to do anything else. After all, Sesshomaru had come here to say good-bye.

“The advisors will help you with anything you need to know about this place.” His father said, giving out the instructions that otherwise had always been left up to Sesshomaru. “All you need to do is sign the paperwork and instill order.” Inutaishou reached out, patting him on the head. “Get well, my son, and do not worry about us. That traitor is as good as dead.” Inuyasha nodded, watching his father get up and leave to obviously give them time to say good-bye…though he had to say he wished he wouldn't have so that the time would never have come.

Sesshomaru made his way towards him, but a hand from Inuyasha stopped him in his tracks. Keeping his head down, he tried his best to fight everything within him telling him that the pain was too severe, and pushed his way up to his feet, barely able to keep the pressure without crying out in pain.

“Dagger what are you doing get back in…” But he placed his hand up again, and Sesshomaru stopped his tirade with a huff.

Inuyasha didn't care if he was pissy though, because he had to do this. He had to be strong for the one he was going away to fight for him. Taking shaky steps foreword, Inuyasha made the short trek towards his lover, which was really only a few feet.

Reaching up, Inuyasha grabbed the back of Sesshomaru's head and pulled him down until their lips met, giving him a kiss that sent a wave of pleasure down his spine before pulling away. “Come back to me.” Was all he said, smiling up the deadly warrior.

“I will.” Was the last words Sesshomaru said to him, before swooping down for another kiss and then turning around and heading out the door, and with that Inuyasha dropped down to the floor and once again cried…for the two people that meant the world to him that could very possibly be marching to their death. Would he ever see them again? Would that be the last time he saw Sesshomaru's face?...Would that be the last kiss they ever shared…

A.N- Heyyyy I update much sooner this time, who's impressed? I know I am…cuz I have a bazillion other stories, and work constantly…and now have school coming up…so yeah I give myself to you guys and this story whenever I have time. …I have really mixed feelings about this chapter, because in some ways I liked it…but I have a thing about writing fluff that makes me twitch uncomfortably lol. So tell me what you think. Reviews are very much welcome, and I promise you smut is in the near horizons!

Luv yas! And much thanks to my loyal fans and to the reviews I've gotten so far! Every one has meant so much to me…they really are what keep me going!
