When Worlds Collide

Chapter 3: Kidnapping In The Night

Night fell and the band of friends fell asleep in Kaede's hut. Well, everyone, but Jaxon fell asleep. She couldn't sleep because she was thinking too hard. She decided to get up and take a walk, hoping that the fresh air would knock some of the cobwebs from her head. She grabbed one of her swords and walked out of the hut. Jaxon was mostly confused and surprised at what Kagome had told her. Jaxon came to her senses when she realized that she was at the well and a little ways from the village. She sat down on the edge of the well to think some more. Little did she know, there was someone watching her in the bushes.

Sesshoumaru watched the young girl as she walked to the old well. He watched her as she tried to catch her bearings.

This is exactly what I need. The Tetsusaiga will soon be mine and no one can stop me.

He gracefully jumped into the tree and froze as he saw the girl jump up and draw her sword.

Jaxon had heard a noise. She jumped up and drew her sword so that she could defend herself. She became more alert as she scanned her surroundings.

"Who's there?"

She got laughter in reply. Jaxon braced herself for the worse. A man jumped down from a tree to her right. She turned to look at him. His features were similar to Inu-Yasha's. He had golden eyes and silver colored hair that gleamed in the moonlight. On his face were two stripes on each side that went across his cheekbone to disappear into his hair. A crescent moon was on his forehead. Jaxon gasped knowing that she not only come across another youkai, but she also knew that besides his handsome looks came a deadly exterior. This creature was deadly and it showed in his overconfident smirk.

"So you are friends with the shard detector that Inu-Yasha harbors and you come from her time as well."

Jaxon didn't respond to his statement. She felt like lead and if she moved she knew she wouldn't be able to defend herself. She saw the youkai frown.

"Inu-Yasha must not have warned you about me. I am Sesshoumaru, Lord of the Western Lands."

Jaxon still didn't respond. This made Sesshoumaru angrier. He walked up to her and slapped her to the ground. Jaxon was so tired that she gave up to her need to sleep to escape the pain of the slap and her headache from hitting the ground. Sesshoumaru smiled as he picked her up and carried her off to where Jakken and Rin were waiting for him.

"Inu-Yasha," Kagome yelled as an attempt to wake up

"What," he replied sleepily.

"Jaxon is gone."

This snapped Inu-Yasha into alert mode.

"How long ago did she leave?"

"I don't know. We woke up and she was gone."

A frantic search for Jaxon took place in and around the village. Kagome took off with Inu-Yasha towards the well to see if she had gone back. When they arrived Inu-Yasha stopped suddenly.

"What is it?"

"I smell blood."

"Where?"

"In this area. It's not a fresh scent, but I can still tell what it is. There was a struggle here and I think Jaxon was involved."

Inu-Yasha sniffed the air. On the outside he was trying to be calm, but on the inside he was in turmoil. He had been asked to protect Jaxon and he failed. He then caught a faint scent from the air. He knew who it belonged to, but it wasn't something he could track.

Damn you Sesshoumaru. You just had to hurt her.

"Kagome, we have to go back to the village. Sesshoumaru attacked Jaxon."

"We have to find her."

"No, if I know Sesshoumaru, he'll find us. He took her to get his hands on the Tetsusaiga so he won't hurt her."

With that the two of them took off back towards the village to report the new discovery.
