Chapter 4: Taking One Step At A Time

Jaxon woke to a stinging pain on her face. She remembered being hit, but that was all. She sat up and looked around her. She seemed to be in some sort of cave.

"So you're awake. That's good," a chilling voice said from behind her.

Jaxon snapped around to see the youkai that had hit her. She knew immediately that she had been kidnapped.

"Where are we and what do you want with me?"

"I'm not going to tell you where you are, but as far as what I want with you is ransom. Inu-Yasha has something I want and I am going to use you to get it."

Jaxon thought about the situation for a moment. For some reason, she knew that this creature held a huge grudge with Inu-Yasha. She didn't know how she knew it, but she did. She thought about what had happened the night before. The creature had called himself Sesshoumaru, she remembered.

"What do you have against Inu-Yasha?"

"He's my hanyou half-brother. I want our father's sword the Tetsusaiga that he has. Humans are inferior and weak. Inu-Yasha is nothing but a curse on my family."

"You know he would make a good adversary to you."

Sesshoumaru growled.

"He hates me as much as I hate him. I don't want to here anything about him come out of your mouth. We're leaving in one hour so I expect you to be ready. If not I ought to leave you for another youkai to find."

With that Sesshoumaru left. Jaxon pondered what he said. She would have no choice but to follow him until she was either rescued or traded for this sword. She got up and found her belongings. She changed into different clothing and did various other things. Exactly one hour after Sesshoumaru left, a weird lizard-like creature came into the cave.

"Lord Sesshoumaru has requested that I retrieve you so that we can continue our journey."

"Who are you?"

"I am Jakken. I am loyal only to Lord Sesshoumaru."

Jaxon gathered her belongings and followed Jakken out of the cave to where Sesshoumaru stood with a girl. The four of them began to walk in silence to an unknown destination.

"You mean Sesshoumaru took Jaxon," Shippou said.

"Yes, I can't follow her trail of Sesshoumaru. I think Jaxon may have wondered off last night and Sesshoumaru saw it as an opportunity to take her," Inu-Yasha said.

"Poor Jaxon, she must be terrified. It is a shame that she had to be taken," Miroku said.

Sango and Kagome hit him.

"Hentai," They yelled.

"It seems to me that this is another attempt for yer sword, Inu-Yasha," Kaede said.

"I know," he replied looking at Kagome

I failed to protect her for Kagome. I have to get her back without giving the Tetsusaiga.

"What are we going to do, Inu-Yasha," Kagome asked.

"Well, if Sesshoumaru wants the sword he'll come for it. We have to find him before then and get Jaxon back so he can't get his hands on the Tetsusaiga."

"That might work," Sango said.

"Let's go now," Shippou said.

Over the couple of hours they had spent with Jaxon, they felt like she was one of them. It was hard on all of them as the prepared to leave. Within the hour they started off looking for any clues that would lead to finding Jaxon.
