Chapter 7: Aid From My Enemy

"You know tough guy, when you capture someone, you should at least make sure that their healthy enough to do this kind of thing," Jaxon said as she attempted to climb the steep trail.

Sesshoumaru just turned around & watched her attempt to reach him. He looked back to see Jakken lagging behind with Rin on his back.

(Now that's a sight to see, Jakken giving Rin a piggy-back ride.)

"Master, can we please take a break," Jakken said.

Sesshoumaru paid his servant little mind as he continued to watch Jaxon. She was determined to reach him. Sesshoumaru could see the young girl's determination.

Foolish girl

Jaxon had almost reached her captor when she slipped & fell. She winced when she heard a definite crack. Her ankle was broken. She had landed on it hard enough & in an odd way.

Great, I'm in the middle of nowhere with a demon who could care less about me or his two other companions with a broken ankle.

She heard footsteps approaching & looked up to see Sesshoumaru standing above her.

Sesshoumaru had heard the crack & watched the girl to see her reaction. She had sat down & assessed the damage. From what he could see, she had broken her ankle.

Weak human

He jumped down to where she was & approached her cautiously. She looked up at him. He could see the pain & disparity in her eyes.

"Look at what you did," she said through clenched teeth.

"I did nothing. The blame is yours, woman. You were the one who was trying to reach me & broke your ankle in the process."

"Well then, Mr. Smart Ass, what do you propose we do?"

Sesshoumaru picked up the girl in his arms & jumped back to where he had been standing. Jaxon shrieked in surprise.

"So you're just going to carry me?"

"I'll do what I must."

Jaxon gripped onto Sesshoumaru's kimono. She was hurt, defenseless, & scared. The demon who carried her could get rid of her if he wanted to.

"My lord, what has happened to the girl."

Jaxon looked to see that both Jakken & Rin had caught up to them.

"It's none of your concern Jakken. Watch over Rin."

"Yes, my lord."

Sesshoumaru then continued to walk until they reached a cave. He gently place Jaxon down & went to the entrance.

"Jakken, watch over Rin & the girl."

"I have a name you know & it happens to be Jaxon."

Sesshoumaru acted like he didn't hear her & walked out of the hut.

"Why must you be so defiant to Lord Sesshoumaru," Jakken asked.

"He kidnapped me. Why shouldn't I be defiant?"

"You'll only get a quicker death if you keep it up."

Jaxon only turned away from the toad-like creature. A few minutes later, Sesshoumaru returned with a deer in his hand. Jakken went over & took it from him. Sesshoumaru then walked over to her & pulled an herb as well as a bandage from his kimono. He crushed the herb & took off Jaxon's shoe & sock. He then carefully applied the herb to the broken ankle & wrapped it in the bandage. Jaxon just watched on in shock. She never thought that she would ever receive aid from her enemy.

"Why are you helping me," she asked.

"It's none of your concern."

Sesshoumaru then turned to Jakken who was cooking part of the meat.

"We're staying here the rest of the night, Jakken."

"Yes, my lord"

Jakken then cut up the cooked meat & brought some to both Rin & Jaxon to eat. Sesshoumaru & Jakken ate the rest of it. Soon night fell and both Jakken & Rin were asleep. Jaxon was curled up in her blanket. She couldn't sleep. The memory of Sesshoumaru helping her replayed again & again in her mind.

"You're still not sleeping."

Jaxon looked up to see Sesshoumaru staring at her from the entrance of the cave.

"I just can't seem to fall asleep."

"That's hard to believe."

"Well, if you must know, I can't sleep because I'm still trying to figure out why someone like you would help me."

"I have my reasons, woman. I need you so that I can trade you for my father's sword, now leave me in peace."

Sesshoumaru turned his head. Within a minute or so he heard some movement behind him. He turned to see Jaxon on her feet, trying hard to walk over to him.

Foolish girl, she'll only cause herself more pain if she keeps this up.

"You have to have some reason to help me other than that lame excuse about that dumb sword."

With that Jaxon slipped into unconsciousness from the pain of her ankle. Sesshoumaru quickly grabbed her before she hit the ground. He picked her up, laid her down & covered her with a blanket. He then laid down next to her & held on to her so that when she woke up, she would not try to stand up again.

Woman, you need to learn your place & stop trying to be so defiant. It will only lead to your demise.
