~Chapter 10~

Reincarnation

 

Shock registered first in InuYasha's hazed mind. `Saimyoushou?'

 

“Inu-Kuso! Snap outta' it!” Kouga was looking at him funny, but waved his hand when InuYasha's attention returned to the young wolf. “It may just be remnants, but we should be sure. We ought to go to northern mountain.”

 

“You should go check it out, wimpy wolf. I've got stuff to do!” `And with Kagome how she is…'

 

Kouga shifted his weight onto one foot and gave InuYasha a scrutinizing glare. “Where's Kagome-san?”

 

InuYasha made a face. “Keh! As if I'd tell you, wolf.”

 

Kouga looked him over. “She's sick, ain't she?

 

“Once again, It ain't your damn business!”

 

“She's my woman! What'd you do?!”

 

“Keh! Your woman, my ass!”

 

Kouga put his hands up. “Look, Inu-Kuso, I just wanted you to know about Naraku. Be carefull with my Kagome!” And with that said, Kouga took off.

 

“Keh. Damn wolves…”

Sango changed into her taijiya outfit as quick as she could before slipping open the shogi screen. “Houshi-sama, we need to see Kaede before we head away. Se sent for us earlier.”

 

Miroku's refused to meet his companion's eyes.

 

“Houshi-sama?” She was walking towards his still form.

 

He turned away from her. “Storng jyaki, Sango. That's what feels wrong.”

 

She flushed. “But jyaki this strong only came from…”

 

“Hai. Naraku.” He looked pensive for a moment. “I haven't got Kazanna yet.”

 

“Good sign?”

 

“It isn't a mistake”

 

Miroku still refused to meet her gaze, and instead stared at the grass as if it were the most interesting thing.

 

Sango put a hand on his shoulder and squeezed lightly. “It isn't a mistake that he allowed us to sense him either, I suppose. We've done this once; we will sure be ready, ne?”

 

“Ready…?”

 

She walked around him, and forced him to look her directly in her eyes. “Yes. Ready.”

 

He looked at her. His eyes bore straight into hers, begging her not to lie. “Why is the jyaki moving, then?”

 

She smiled at him. “Kaede's, then?”

 

“Hai.”

Kagome was placed, unceremoniously, in the shrine that Kikyou had once been a maiden to. She didn't know for sure, but Kagome thought she saw the Shikon no Tama presented on the podium before her.

 

This dream was different, though. No one could see or hear her. Besides that, Kikyou was alive. She wasn't the resurrected clay doll she had been in the real world, but her actual flesh was her own. Her cheeks held a rosy hue that hadn't been in her clay skin.

 

“Aneue? What's wrong?” A much younger Kaede stood at Kikyou's side. The small girl was holding tightly onto her sister's sleeve.

 

Already Kaede's right eye was patched and one side of her face was scarred with burns. Kikyou smiled at her younger sister and bent down. When she was eye level with the much younger girl, Kikyou pulled her into a hug.

 

It was eerie to Kagome. The scene was before her, yet the Kikyou she had encountered before was cold and distant. She could easily see why InuYasha found her beautiful.

 

Suddenly light flooded out the scene and a new set of people emerged.

 

This time, the odd place showed her a peaceful time. InuYasha rowed a boat that Kikyou sat in. She had a small, delicate smile upon her face and she still looked the picture of perfection.

 

Kagome sighed and the image filtered black.

 

Back in the ever-encasing darkness, she sank down to her knees. `InuYasha and Kikyou… They really did love each other.' She pushed her palms over her eyelids. `It's not fair for me to be so selfish. I can't deny it, though. Kikyou and I were the same soul… And our love for him is the same. I love InuYasha.'

AN: NARAKU'S BACK!!! DUN DUH DUUUUUH! Or is he? No questions about him, because I will NOT answer! But I will answer some questions, if it won't give anything away. This is probably going to be about 10 more chapters and then an epilogue, at least that's what I have planned. It may be a little longer then that though…

Questions:

 

Is he [Sesshoumaru] conscious of the fact that he's visiting with kags, so to speak?

Yes, he knows that he visits the subconscious of Kagome. Besides, he is only the way he is because of the conditioning he had as a child (Or at least that's what I think. ^ ^) so it's his unconditioned side of him.

 

Is the Shikon No Tama real? Or is it some crazy baubble fake that's making Inu crazy?

I would defiantly say it's… Not telling. ^ ^
